I’ll start with the positives. The host was wonderful: friendly, responsive, and genuinely wanted us to have a good stay. The beds were comfortable, the three-story bunk bed was so fun for the kids, and the windows across the back made it easy to watch them outside. The toys and games were also a huge help all week. We were disappointed the slide shown in the photos is no longer there, as that was one reason we booked. Our biggest concern was the cleanliness when we arrived. We knew the property was dog-friendly, but did not expect pet hair throughout the home. It was in the beds, blankets, towels, toys, drawers, rugs, and on many surfaces. Our kids had immediate allergy reactions, and we considered leaving. There was also an animal odor, cobwebs, food splatters on the kitchen ceiling, dust and debris on appliances, and overgrown weeds near the fire pit.Once we raised the concerns, the host worked hard to make it possible for us to stay. She had the carpets shampooed, things wiped down, rugs removed, and weeds pulled. She even brought s’mores supplies, which we loved. There was still a lingering odor after cleaning, but it was much improved and we felt comfortable continuing our stay.Overall, the host was great, but the home needs regular professional deep cleaning, especially as a pet-friendly property. I’d also suggest adding a covering between the master bathroom and bedroom to block the light at sunrise.
