Excellent hotel..amenities and staff

Stayed for 2 nights as a couple with our 2-year-old. We’d read some very mixed reviews, so here’s our take. The good: The room layout worked really well. Our daughter slept on the sofa bed down a corridor, with the bathroom in between, so it felt like she had her own room. The view over the lake is spectacular and the pool is a great size. We booked dinner for the Friday night and it was seriously good, and breakfast was decent. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything. Parking was easy and free on site, though spaces are limited, so we got lucky. The lifts were a little busy in the mornings, but nothing drastic. The bad: Cleanliness. Our room simply needed a good deep clean. I looked under the bed and found food, and there was hair all over the room in lots of different shades, so clearly from many different people. The pool was freezing. It’s the end of the season, but even so it was especially cold. The lifeguard seemed more interested in doing his yoga than stopping people from smoking or using glass bottles by the pool on the Saturday. The reception staff were friendly at check-in, but when I mentioned the cleanliness at check-out, they didn’t seem too bothered. Overall: Because of the cleanliness, we probably wouldn’t return. But if they did a good deep clean and the pool was warmer in the summer I would consider it!
