We booked Lodge Barn for a 60th Birthday and a family gathering. Covering 4 generations and 2 dogs, it was ideal in terms of the facilities, the space available and its location. On arrival there were complimentary tea/coffee and cleaning packs and the place was very clean and warm. All rooms were tidy and well presented with the cleaning team having done a great job in terms of getting the place ready. It was certainly well received by all those coming for the weekend. The kitchen is very spacious and was well used over the weekend, becoming a hub for meals as well as other activities. The close proximity to large supermarkets and pubs meant we had less to bring with us. Numerous places to visit within reasonably short distances meant that everyone could find something to do or to go to if not wanting to walk in the woods which were just at the back of the lodge. The large garden, enclosed apart from some small gaps under the gates, was ideal for the dogs to run around in and in better weather (we were here during a fairly wet February) would be a fantastic area for games, BBQ's etc. We took a stair gate with us to stop the dogs going up the stairs but could have used an extended one as the gap was rather larger than the gate. Our only gripes, all minor and probably reflect the idiosyncrasies of the group were; it was very warm, especially in the kitchen (partially from the Aga), some of the large knives could be sharper and a few more utensils such as ladle's. We had a fantastic time, everyone was very pleased with the accommodation and how well it was maintained and are looking forward to a repeat. We would wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Barn Lodge

The property was exactly as described and provided all the facilities we required for a party of 16 ranging in age from 5 to 80.The housekeeper provided guidance when requested and resolved a small issue almost immediately.

Lovely place, with plenty of space for all 17 of us. Check in was easy, and we were grateful for the little extras that were left for us on arrival. Everything you need for a big party of you (cups, plates, glasses etc)Sightly disappointed in the rooms though. The downstairs rooms all smelt of sewage, not sure if the septic tank was due to be emptied but it wasn't pleasant! Also found that the property needed a really thorough clean. A lot of cobwebs, dust and the floors in the bathrooms hadn't been cleaned in a while.....we wiped a few of them and the tissue came up very dirty.I appreciate its a big property, and probably takes a while to do a clean/changeover but when you see that amount of dust and cobwebs it just makes you feel like the whole place is dirty. It would be great if there was some kind of structure over the hot tub, so it could be used in all weathers as we had very heavy rain while we were there, so it wasn't that enjoyable - especially when you are paying extra to use it.

Group of 15 adults and 3 children We had a nice stay at Lodge Barn which is a lovely, well equipped space. The games room is brilliant, we used it a lot. We loved that there was enpigh space for everyone to spread out and do their own thing. The ourdoors space is also fantastic. The kitchen was well equipped, although for a grouo our size who had all meals in the house, we could have done with an additional fridge. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms had everything we needed. Slightly earlier check in and later check out would have been ideal. We do a family break every year and this is the first one where we found the check in time a bit late and check out time a bit early for a group our size. Overall, we would recommend the house. It has everything you need for a lovely break.
