My family and I stayed at this wonderful lakefront cottage as we attended a family gathering in Whitestone The cottage was perfect! The picture windows offer a perfect view of the lake and we enjoyed a morning kayak ride right from thr floating dock in front of the cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary essentials and we had clean towels available for our use. Would definitely stay again!

Older renovated home on a tributary of the Rappahannock River close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. We enjoyed the onsite kayaks and exploring the area. Fished a little and crabbed off the pier. There were lots of jellies in the water. The pier could use some repairs-one piling is rotted. The grill could have used some cleaning-there is a gas grill onsite that worked. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, except for some jet skis going by occasionally, and the houses are close together. We had everything we needed in the house. We were very pleased that bottled water is provided. The table on the deck was wobbly, couldn't find a tool to try to tighten things up, and the side door to the covered outdoor dining area needs some attention on the door handle. It is hard to make sure it locks. Overall a nice place.

Pros: Love the house's layout and closeness to the Rappahannock. Very spacious rooms and had plenty of space for 6 people. Place was clean, and most appliances and furniture items were in good condition. I liked the primo water dispenser. Cons(minor): A/C struggled to keep house below 77 during the day, and it took until 11 or 12pm for temperature to get into the low 70s inside. Bathrooms/showers were slightly outdated. The main living space could use blinds to add more privacy. Overall: Good place and would go back!

This was a gem of a cottage....right on the water. We couldn't help but stare out the windows and gaze at the water, the birds, the sunrise and the sunset. The cottage itself was very comfortable. Our favorite room was the enclosed sun room or family room. It was large enough for 4 adults and 2 kids to gather, share stories, eat, play games, etc. all while enjoying the beautiful view. Our family really enjoyed using the kayaks which were provided. We brought our own fishing pole, and were able to fish right from the pier. The neighborhood was quiet, and at night we could see the stars clearly. There was a small beach area right down the road, and actually saw a beautiful rainbow while sitting on the shore line. The cottage was clean, beds very comfortable, and we appreciated the storage room with washer and dryer, and room for our gear.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is a like entering another world. We all discussed how we would like to see the little cove stay that peaceful. We had a few problems at the house. The AC had difficulty keeping it cool. The sink in the kitchen would not drain. The owner was very responsive. A plumber had to come out one morning to repair the sink which ended up taking a while. There was no cell phone service for us and we were fine with it. The house has wifi. The house has plenty of space and a beautiful view. We were able to cook and use the grill the entire time. There aren’t a lot of places open during the week for those who want to eat out. The creek had a lot of jelly fish. Actually, I have never seen so many! Some the size of a dime or nickel! I’m not sure if there is a time you can swim in it, but the water was super warm in the summer. There are kayaks there. There is a lot of wildlife to watch sitting outside and make sure you bring bug spray for outdoors. I do hope the dock gets extended to the end. It’s kind of hard to fish out into the creek. Lots of crabs for anyone interested in crabbing. Beautiful place overall and hoping to return.

We had a wonderful week at The Little Blue Cottage in Topping, VA. It was very clean and the hosts thought of lots of nice details -from hand soap in the bathroom to play kitchen with grocery cart for the kids, to life jackets for the kayaks. We had great weather and caught crabs from the dock. It is an older cottage and has some quirks, but that’s what made our stay fun and unique. The neighborhood is good to walk in and we meet several friendly neighbors. Be sure to read “ The Little Blue Cottage” kids book if you are fortunate enough to stay there! Patti

Cute and clean home with dock on the water and plenty of outdoor seating to take in the view. Crabbers paradise. Be prepared to fix your meals or drive 15 to 20 minutes. Due to very muddy bottom, crabs and jelly fish we stuck to kayaking or just dock sitting.

Two of my friends and I stayed at this wonderful vacation spot. Beautiful views of the water. Spacious for the three of us. We enjoyed sitting outside either on the swings or in the Adirondack chairs on the pier. Even when it was chilly, we could enjoy the view from inside sitting at the dining room table, in the den and even from the kitchen. Comfortable beds and clean house. Would definitely return!

Even with a weekend of less than sunny weather we enjoyed this river front cottage. It is as described and well stocked .. plenty of kitchen and bath supplies, very clean, comfortable beds, a great location. Already looking to stay again.

We loved our stay here. The property is very clean and well stocked. I really appreciated all the supplies that came with the house, i.e hand soaps, paper towels, etc. Usually small items like these are not provided at rental houses, so this a nice touch for us! We loved the dock and waterviews. It is located in a quiet neighborhood but amenities are close by. If you are looking for a quiet and serene get away this is it! Highly recommend and would 100 percent book again!

We enjoyed staying at this cottage so much, we had to come back for a return visit. It was right on the water, with kayaks to use, and a pier to sit and enjoy the beauty of the water, or fish. The cottage was perfect for our family in that it had a large gathering room so everyone can be together to hang out and enjoy the view.

Th property was as advertised and we enjoyed our stay. The living area would benefit from additional seating, more comfortable chairs and additional lighting. We loved watching the Osprey as the fledgling grew. Overall our vacation was enjoyable and the cottage met our needs.

My friends and I loved our stay. Super comfortable house with beautiful views of the water. Very relaxing! Unfortunately the internet wasn't working for us. The host is aware and is working with the service provider to fix. We plan to return.

Terrific little cottage on a quiet waterfront road. Nicely renovated property with a spacious kitchen and terrific sunroom shaded by large trees. We were looking for a quiet waterfront property to rest and recharge with great waterfront views and this place hit it out of the park for a weekend getaway.

Charming and attractively decorated cottage, very comfortable except could not set thermostat. But when we needed it cooler, the owner quickly complied after we messaged him. It was peaceful and quiet, just what we were looking for.

We had a wonderful time at The Little Blue Cottage. Everything was impeccably clean and very comfortable. 1The view of the water was beautiful. Forrest, the owner, was very responsive and accommodating. Ovwrall, we enjoyed our stay and would love to back sometime.

Our family enjoyed the long weekend stay for my 50th birthday. The host was very accommodating and answered all questions quickly to help with our stay. Beautiful view!

We had a wonderful stay. The location is a like entering another world. We all discussed how we would like to see the little cove stay that peaceful. We had a few problems at the house. The AC had difficulty keeping it cool. The sink in the kitchen would not drain. The owner was very responsive. A plumber had to come out one morning to repair the sink which ended up taking a while. There was no cell phone service for us and we were fine with it. The house has wifi. The house has plenty of space and a beautiful view. We were able to cook and use the grill the entire time. There aren’t a lot of places open during the week for those who want to eat out. The creek had a lot of jelly fish. Actually, I have never seen so many! Some the size of a dime or nickel! I’m not sure if there is a time you can swim in it, but the water was super warm in the summer. There are kayaks there. There is a lot of wildlife to watch sitting outside and make sure you bring bug spray for outdoors. I do hope the dock gets extended to the end. It’s kind of hard to fish out into the creek. Lots of crabs for anyone interested in crabbing. Beautiful place overall and hoping to return.

This was my very first VRBO experience and I have to say it was excellent from start to finish. The TLBC exceeded all my expectations and was perfect for the week we spent in the area. The contact for this property was very responsive and communicative which I appreciated as this being my 1st VRBO rental experience I did have many questions. I appreciated the attention to detail, the cleanliness, and the location and will most certainly consider staying here again in the future if I have the opportunity to do so.

We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful stay at the little blue house. It is well furnished with a completely equipped kitchen. Peaceful water views. Quiet neighborhood, comfortable beds. Easy access to White Stone, Kilmarnock and Urbanna. We took advantage of getting take out at The River Market in White Stone and Something Different in Urbanna. Forrest was VERY responsive. All in all….a great stay.

Unfortunately our stay in the area was necessitated by a death in the family. The Little Blue Cottage was a perfect peaceful refuge as we were handling arrangements. The location on the water was so tranquil (and our dogs loved it too)!

We loved our stay here. The property is very clean and well stocked. I really appreciated all the supplies that came with the house, i.e hand soaps, paper towels, etc. Usually small items like these are not provided at rental houses, so this a nice touch for us! We loved the dock and waterviews. It is located in a quiet neighborhood but amenities are close by. If you are looking for a quiet and serene get away this is it! Highly recommend and would 100 percent book again!

Cute and clean home with dock on the water and plenty of outdoor seating to take in the view. Crabbers paradise. Be prepared to fix your meals or drive 15 to 20 minutes. Due to very muddy bottom, crabs and jelly fish we stuck to kayaking or just dock sitting.

Even with a weekend of less than sunny weather we enjoyed this river front cottage. It is as described and well stocked .. plenty of kitchen and bath supplies, very clean, comfortable beds, a great location. Already looking to stay again.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at TLBC. The location was perfect for dinner in Urbanna at Something Different complete with live music and then a day exploring Kilmarnock. The house was so comfy and clean. Kudos to the high quality bedding and blackout curtains. The basket of snacks and coffee pods was a nice touch. If you live in Richmond or on the Peninsula, then you can't go wrong with this riverfront property only a short drive away.
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at TLBC. The location was perfect for dinner in Urbanna at Something Different complete with live music and then a day exploring Kilmarnock. My family and I stayed at this wonderful lakefront cottage as we attended a family gathering in Whitestone The cottage was perfect! The picture windows offer a perfect view of the lake and we enjoyed a morning kayak ride right from thr floating dock in front of the cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary essentials and we had clean towels available for our use. Would definitely stay again!

I sent my wife, her foreign guest, and the neighbor on an outing—mainly because the noise level at home had reached “incoming artillery level”.I steered them away from repetitive shopping, they enjoyed some fresh air, and I found the sound of silence.Unfortunately… they’ve returned.They loved it.
