ENCANTO TAOS ADOBE INICIO

The house is authentic, old, adobe style architecture, and has a real charm about it. It was rainy and chilly while we were there, thus the outdoor areas weren’t enticing as they would be otherwise. There was cut firewood available, but no real kindling to help start a fire in one of the many kiva style fireplaces, which would help take the chill off the interior space, especially in the evenings. It would have been really nice to have a pre built, ready to lite, set-up in at least one fireplace. The coffee maker needs to be replaced—it took about 1 1/2 hours to make one pot of coffee! Also the metal plate on the bottom of the toaster needs to be reattached on one end. The communication was great regarding how to find and get entry to the property, and how to leave things upon final departure. The house has many art pieces throughout the rooms, which enhanced the visual experience!

We love this place. 2nd stay here. It's a little ways from the plaza... But wasn't an issue for us. Many great outdoor spaces... Dog-friendly/enclosed yard. No A/C (common there), was hot but nice evenings/mornings. Good sir flow w/ many doors & fans. Property Manager (Melissa) was available ∧ helpful. Would stay there again!

Charming vintage adobe home. Clean, cozy and warm. Kiva fireplace with ample piñon firewood, made mornings and nights lovely. 2 full baths, warm showers, 2 cozy beds for the 4 of us. Functional fully stocked kitchen with paper towels, coffee, sugar, salt/pepper. Full sized fridge. Large communal dining table. Washing machine did not work, hoses were not connected and never could get an answer about getting clothes washed over a 5 day/ 4 night stay.

This place is Totally Taos. Such an enchanting home and space. The trees and surroundings provide a peaceful oasis that's filled with the sounds of birds, frogs and coyotes, and incredible mountain views. The fenced yard was perfect for the two dogs. The location ideal for anything happening in Taos or nearby. We love it.

We enjoyed our stay here. There was plenty of room for all four of us. Our dog loved the fenced in yard. Some doorways are definitely short, but it just added to the ambiance! FYI: there is no dishwasher.

As a 6’2 tall person, the bedroom doors and bathroom doors were really short, but my head a couple times but wasn’t a big deal. I would definitely stay here again except there was one big issue. The bedroom stove heaters didn’t work. After the first night we received a space heater for one of the rooms which did the trick. However, the other bedroom still did not have heat. Therefore, we slept without heat in the winter for one of the bedrooms. The host was very responsive and nice, but this aspect was unacceptable. Otherwise, great stay.

Love the historical significance of the property, the kiva fireplace, the 3 different gas fireplaces, the cozy bathrobes!

My only complaint is that the kiva fireplaces were a selling point for me but there was not any dry wood, kindling, paper or matches. Also the house is filled with lovely voltive holders, but no candles. I emailed the manager, but got no response

Great traditional adobe home. Spacious with well equipped kitchen. Having a washer/dryer was a big plus. Very quiet and nice shaded outdoor dining area.

This property has great potential, but needs a bit of love and care. I'll start with the good: 1. The home is spacious. 2. The kitchen is fully equipped. 3. The two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the home, providing privacy if two couples travel together. 4. The outdoor space was inviting. Here are a few downsides: 1. There are holes in nearly every screen and the bugs inside the home were out of control after dark. 2. Individuals taller than 5'8" should not stay here. The ceilings and doorways are much shorter than standard buildings. I'm only 5'6" and hit my head 3 times! 3. There was no hand soap anywhere in the property; we resorted to dish soap. I don't usually bring this with me because it is always provided. 4. There is no air conditioning. Not a big deal usually, but the interior bedroom has only one window so it was unbearably too hot to sleep in, even with fans running.

Nice little Adobe home, perfect for small family or two couples with 2 bedroom and 2 bath. Rustic, but clean and convenient to downtown Taos. Easy check-in and check-out.

Super cute, charming, unique historic Adobe structure. Attention to detail with furnishings and artwork is noted. Home is comfortable, clean and well appointed. Home is easily accessible and within a short drive to shops and restaurants in Taos. Very enjoyable stay - thank you Melissa!

This home has the original charm of old New Mexico. It is very clean and well kept. The beds and linens are very comfortable. All in all a terrific place to stay when in the Taos area.

We had a great time. The property wasn't clean when we arrived, but the host accommodated us. the house is super cool and while out of the main part of town, navigating around Taos from this property is very easy

To start, the previous reviews about wifi and coffee- new nice coffee maker, good wifi. Good coffee provided. Cans of kindling and lighting material for kivas which was very nice on a snowy evening. Also a new Smart TV which was an upgrade. Newer fridge, very clean. Found the dog sheets easily in a basket in the dining area. The big gate works fine with drop bolts for security. This brings up a point- the owner has not updated this page to reflect these changes or addressed any negative comments and it seems endemic of a bit of neglect for this rental. Very cool old place, love the deco. Back yard fully enclosed but NOT the area off the back porch from Bedroom 1. Note: small gate in carport to fenced yard/back door is hard to keep closed, only really latches from the outside BEWARE- loose dogs around as the neighborhood is a bit sketch. The road can be a little scary as it is narrow and the locals drive it FAST. Some lovely views and peaceful scenes, close to town, but auto junkyards in near view. Better in summer when trees are leafed, lol. The large nicely landscaped yard is great for adults and cocktails but not small child safe- sharp edges on art, rocks, and open dropoff to back patio. Needs a new toaster. Kitchen is not that well set up if you cook a lot. Bring your own plastic wrap, foil, scissors. Steak knives needed. We bought a new manual can opener. Stove is old and broiler off kilter, not overly safe. Small soaps in bathrooms, a bottle of all purpose soap in bath. The place is on septic- no disposal or dishwasher. Coffee mugs for 5. We were comfortable but the place needs a good deep clean and the owner should walk it and make a punch list for small issues like broken fans and dead lightbulbs and other repairs and needed items. No response on our query about the stated portable crib and there was not one. We have used vacation rentals for 30 years and this is a solid 3.5, but priced accordingly. Nice if it is a good fit for your tastes and purposes. Try Antonio’s close by, they were on “Triple D” in November! And Taos Mesa Brewing by the Plaza was awesome and reliably open!

We had a very fun stay. Weather was a bit warm , but this is New Mexico in July. Loved the artwork in the house and the outdoor seating areas. This property is well cared for and clean.

This is a very interesting and unusual house. We felt like we were in a different country when staying there because of its age, style and quirks. There are a lot of things to love about the house, it's comfortable, has a beautiful and private outdoor space and is in an older neighborhood. The reasons I knocked one star off my review are that there was something, sugar or salt maybe, all over the kitchen floor and it crunched every time you took a step. There isn't a dishwasher, which is fine, but the sponge by the sink looked like it had cleaned who knows what and it was what the previous guest had used to "wash" the dishes. We had to rewash everything we wanted to use with dish soap and paper towels. I would highly advise the manager to splurge and give each guest a new sponge for the dishes. There was also mouse poop in one of the pots. The only other issue was two of the neighbors. I realize there isn't much the home owner or manager can do about it but one of the neighbors kept driving around with their music so loud that it actually made the windows rattle. Not the home's fault but it happened quite a few times and woke us up. That said, would I recommend the place for anyone who wants to experience the "real"New Mexico? Absolutely!

The home was a unique old adobe home that we really enjoyed. It is old, so comments about uneven floors and low doorways come with this. It was part of the charm for us. We enjoyed the rural area & the fenced in yard was perfect for our pets, and the cute porch off the master bedroom was blissful in the mornings. The home was clean and very comfortable. There were some ants in the kitchen, but for a 250 year old house, this is not unexpected.

Our group loved this home! we felt immersed in the architecture of New Mexico and all the artifacts and art of the area added to our stay. Though the floors are uneven and some of the entryways low this was not a problem for us. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Multiple outdoor seating areas enhanced our stay. This is one of our very best VRBO experiences and we recommend it highly.

Being over 6' had to be careful of low ceilings/doors but definitely enjoyed. Had a fire going every morning with coffee & then again every evening.

This is a very old home with quirks so don’t expect it to be modern. We were disappointed to find there wasn’t any salt in the kitchen when we arrived...I didn’t think we would need to bring our own salt. Most of the pans were non-stick but had some damage so we didn’t use those. There was a cast iron skillet but it needs to be completely cleaned and reseasoned. That left one stainless steel pot to do all of our cooking in. There were only 2 of us so we made it work but for more people it could be a challenge. The home is in a quiet, rural area and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water and nice bathrooms. We had WiFi the first day but after that, we had to hotspot off my phone to have internet service.

Wonderful adobe home with lots of character and great artwork! Has been expanded over the years so each room has unique flooring. Great outdoor space. Wish we’d had more time to really enjoy it. One bed is really high so if you’re short (5’2” or under) bring a step stool!

Old SW charm overall. However, for one of us who is 81, the uneven floors and step down area from the bedroom were a worry for falling creating some tension to the stay. Also, lighting was poor for older eyes, especially for people who read. The outside was lovely and so enjoyable to sit out and enjoy the cool weather in nature.

Very nice property. Enjoyed the stay. One bed sits pretty high, so most people would need a step stool.

This CHARMING TAOS ADOBE HOME is historic, funky, well decorated and has everything you need for a great Taos experience. Don't expect the latest in upgrades as this home embodies the spirit and ambiance of 100 to 250 years ago in the Taos Valley. You can imagine the Spanish and European settlers living out their life in this beautiful setting. The bedrooms are comfortable, the bathrooms and laundry are efficient and workable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook and serve family meals. The furnishings are eclectic and fun. The outside fireplace is mesmerizing and the mountain views are spectacular. The location is central to all the sights and sounds of Taos and the Rio Grande Valley. If you are looking for a truly mystical Taos experience this is it. Highly recommended!

Wow. Like staying in a museum. Bedrooms stuffy, we slept in the pull out in the living room. Next time, ill bring an ouiji board and leave it. Wish we had more time, tho.

Charming is a great descriptor for this home! We really enjoyed our brief stay here. Our only regret was not having more time in Taos and at the house. Loved the quirky artwork and the feel of the place. Missing some modern amenities like a modern kitchen, but it honestly would feel out of place here. Very comfortable and cozy space. Everything was as advertised in the description. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

This home was awesome, the art everywhere was a nice reminder of where we were. Beautiful gate that opens to a pretty sweet sanctuary-like area. We were mistaken on our booking (totally my fault) and Melissa was so nice and understand, I really appreciated that grace!

I rented this “VRBO” (turns out it is not licensed for rental per Taos City Ordinance) for my girlfriends and I to stay in for our girls trip June 18-23, 2025 and to celebrate my husband, who passed away in February 2024. It looked great on the VRBO Site, and the description turned out not to be accurate. The “HOST”, says there are 2 Swamp Coolers available to use (being from Texas, we know how to use them), and only found one, so I let her know and she responded that since she put a ceiling fan in the 1st bedroom ( the blades hit the rafters making a horrible racket, so basically useless), we didn’t need a 2nd one. She said just open the doors and windows for air- the screens had holes in them and there was no screen door on the main entrance door. Listen- you are in the middle of nowhere, neighborhood is sketchy and 3 women alone- no way we’re going to leave those open! The electricity was mediocre at best- took literally 2 hours to make a pot of coffee and after leaving phones and tablets to charge overnight, they only charged to 60%!!! The yard was overgrown, we could see the trailer out the windows, electrical sockets were missing covers, I could go on!!! After spending 1 night (booked for 5), we contacted “THE HOST”, AGAIN, explained that this was not what was in the description, nor did she offer to bring another Swamp Cooler, and that we wanted to cancel the rest of the reservation. “THE HOST” said she would refund me for the other 4 nights - no refund! Vrbo neither!

Check in was exactly as stated. Very easy to get in.

Prior to arrival notified that the MB bath had no hot water as tank broke Owner kind enough to offer a partial refund for the inconvenience . We were lacking a few items that were necessary for our stay : communication with owner and Judy was excellent and issues resolved promptly. Home is lovely and charming as pictured in site. Area peaceful and quiet Views lovely from the garden Would definitely stay again ! Made good use of the Kivas

I wrote to the property manager concerning all the things that made our visit less than optimal, but she never replied. There are issues that need to be addressed at this location, but I really wanted to speak with the owner about them, and not the property manager who was not interested in the safety, repairs and cleanliness of the house.
