The first condo they put us in they were redoing the roof at 7:30 am. They moved us to a new one in a different construction zone that had signs danger keep out. We left early. The grounds are beautiful but the management not so great if they stick people in condos with active construction going on.

Great place to stay, beautiful property and rooms. Only complaint was the pool heater was broken so the pool wasn’t usable as it was freezing which was a huge disappointment for the youngest kid.

Beautiful property! There are lots of amenities offered, but we weren’t aware that we were there during the “off season”. Be sure to check the seasonal dates. There’s an indoor pool & spa, and a good, but pricey restaurant open year around. We had a problem with the dishwasher & they sent a repairman quickly. We stayed in a 4 bed/bath condo & it was PLENTY room for our family of 7! Only complaint, there is no shuttle service from your unit to the main activity area.

The resort is very nice. Everything was clean and fresh. We like the room design ("wooden" walls make the atmosphere very cozy, and there are lots of interesting details in the room design overall). We visited the pool and spa zone late evening. The water in the pool is warm which is very beneficial when staying with kids. The sauna is hot and works well. Open 9 am-10pm. The lodge is 10 min away from ski resport.

Resort amenities were less than expected. The fishing poles were broken, there were limited water accessories, no paddle boards and it was all pretty weathered. The outdoor activities were noisy— construction, lawn mowers, moving heavy equipment and delivery trucks, all made it hard to enjoy the serene outdoor area for multiple days.

No trash can outside lobby or elevator. Staff could be more attentive and responsive. Housekeeping can clean at least every other day as oppose to just a refresh daily. Could have a commercial grade coffee and water machine all day in the lobby instead of small container of coffee only in the morning. Whatever happened to smore night? The game machine in the rec center does not work at all. What are guests paying for to not have basic amenities?

Where to start… My husband and I took our first vacation in years. Upon arrival, we were shocked to see that they were draining the lake. Nowhere on the website did they disclose that they were doing so. Had we known this, we would have chosen to stay at another resort. The condo was dated and dirty. The shower was cracked and stained. We found goldfish crackers under the bed left by another guest. Our sheets had stains on them so we slept on the couch. The porch light was burned out, we notified guest services but no one came to change the bulb out which made it very hard to see trying to get back into our room at night. Absolute waste of money. We will not be going back.

First rate lodge, probably the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in, the staff was great and made us feel very welcome, breakfast in the Timberlake restaurant was very good as was the service. We look forward to our next stay at Chetola!

Room condition for $240 was poor . Lighting in room is poor. Found tape on the wall/ phone did not work/ shower door had soap scum in it. Table had marker on it . Very disappointed as this came highly rated. The property was lovely with the lake

The property itself was very pretty. Location was close to Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are. Our room was on a slant. So it was weird sleeping. Also we found dog food on the floor and a dirty sock left behind.

The room was clean and nicely updated. No problems with the bathroom. The property is beautiful with a peaceful walking trail and lots of areas to sit or play games like corn hole. A couple of minor cons are that it’s easy to hear through the walls, mattresses aren’t that comfortable, and the elevators don’t seem to be high quality. Despite this we would definitely stay here again!

Always enjoy our stays at Chetola. It's a great resort. Some of the condos, including this one, really need some updating. Probably hasn't been updated in over 20 years, cracked tiles, things that don' work, etc. Would have given a complete 5 stars if they would do some maintenance and updating. Resort is great, but this condo needs some work.

While it was a nice condo, it needed some refreshing at 24 years of age. The bathroom tiles were badly cracked. Fixtures were old. Bed and pillows were kind of sorry. There were to tables or lamps in the living area. Too bad if you’d like to have a glass of tea or wine, or a cup of coffee, while you read or watch tv.

The stay was amazing! The view was fantastic and the room was perfect size! The lodge had all of the amenities one could ask for! The on-site spa and restaurant were amazing, the pool and the hot tub were amazing. Only complain I would have were the pillows. My wife and I went for a couple day getaway from our kids. The bed and everything was amazing, the pillows were those long tube-like pillows. In order to sleep well, we had to double up the pillows. Other than that, the stay was fantastic.

The property is very tired looking. We heard they have new owners so maybe it will improve. Grounds had trash dropped & not picked up for days in common areas. Historical rooms need a full renovation. No usb connectors. Bathroom from the 80’s, furniture too. Windows have a film so views aren’t great. We won’t be back.

Good location. Definitely ask for a room that faces the lake - the other side faces the parking lot. They call it hillside view, but it’s a parking lot view.

Great location, not walkable to Downtown Blowing Rock though… and parking in downtown is pretty rough. The resort was nice as was our “condo” rental although our unit needed some updates, faucets, vanity, cabinets etc Staff was great!

We spent $450 for one night and our room was mediocre at best. The property is lovely no doubt, but the lights that line the fence and make everything look magically were only partially lit. The property was supposedly full but there was no fire on a nice autumn night to enjoy in the pit. We went down for dinner to the restaurant with many many open tables and were told that they had no availability. They told us we could eat in the bar but there was no open seating there. We said we would go to our room and order room service but were then told they only had 2 chefs and they were not be providing room service, even though at check in we were given room service menus and invited to order for breakfast lunch or dinner. Everyone was very nice. We checked out the same evening and were given a full refund. I realize it is very difficult to find people to work these days but the price charged per night is not moderate… so if the service provided is not top notch , they might want to think about reducing their rates.

We spent $450 for one night and our room was mediocre at best. The property is lovely no doubt, but the lights that line the fence and make everything look magically were only partially lit. The property was supposedly full but there was no fire on a nice autumn night to enjoy in the pit. We went down for dinner to the restaurant with many many open tables and were told that they had no availability. They told us we could eat in the bar but there was no open seating there. Everything was perfect except the restaurant that was advertised as open 7 days a week was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We did not know that until we went to eat dinner. Very disappointed that we were not told at check-in. Otherwise, we had a lovely visit.

We had to park in a distant parking lot up a significant number of steps. But when checking out, I watched an employee in an orange jeep take the prime parking spot. I was really unimpressed with the staff overall. Facility was nice, but unappreciative staff earned this rating!

Wonderful staff. Beautiful property. We’ve stayed multiple times love it. We stayed there the weekend of the flooding due to hurricane Helene the property did their best in light of no internet no WiFi and limited staff bc of storm - the staff there were terrific! Kind, helpful, dedicated. They prepared prepackaged meals and had buffets open even with limited staff due to storm - thoughtful and helpful. We will be back!

Hotel all around was just OK. It’s an older facility restaurant. That’s part of the hotel was just on edible food and the surface was horrible. Took us an hour just to get our meal. We tried it again for breakfast and it was the same thing and very pricey.

Check-in staff were very friendly and efficient. Condo, Wren 303, was clean and functional, but very dated. Locks are awkward. Faucets look original and very hard to use. Cupboards are old and warped. Kickboard under the bathroom sink is peeling. Meals in the restaurant were very good, but seemed over-priced. We had to pay a 20% gratuity just for the two of us. Restaurant staff were very friendly, though we were forgotten about a few times.

Loved the property. Should offer cook to order breakfast. My eggs and bacon were cold by the time I got from the buffet to the table. Most buffet breakfast have someone to cook your legs to order. That was my only complaint. Staff was great.

First, we appreciate the staff for all their efforts and consideration. I know they try their best to make sure everyone is happy at Chetola. I have never seen so much Canadian geese droppings or crap on the resort areas. It was impossible to sit down or walk around anywhere to enjoy the lake and local scene much less walk your dog around without stepping in goose crap. You can control this situation – and still support the humane animal issue. Not acceptable for any resort for their quest. Overall, we found the resort to be in very poor condition – in need a remodeling or repair in several places. The attached picture shows the roof over the restaurant area – appears to be in terrible condition in fact a fire hazard with wood shingles. Second photo shows the paint flaking or peeling off the rails – needs a lot of work. Must be a financial situation with the current owners not taking responsibility for upgrades or repairing the facilities to maintain the resort. Really a shame – it’s a great place to visit but not again. As for the restaurant – very disappointed in the food and facilities. Dining one evening we were served dinner which was cold – even the soup as lukewarm. Had to request hot mash potatoes and hot rice along with hot green beans. Plus, it took forever to get our food from first course to second course – then it was cold. We tried again for breakfast but upon arrival we were told there was only one cook and one server with a 30-minute wait for

Not what I expected. It was OK but to be honest we only stayed one day. They have a huge array of things available to take advantage of. As far as the hotel, for the price it was OK. Restaurant on premises was Ok but not WOW. The staff were all very helpful and probably the best part of the experience. Rooms were clean but dated. Restaurant was very noisy with children but to be fair it is a family place so dont expect a quite fine dinning experience. All in all not horrible but for the money I expected a bit more.

I would compare our dinner to a chilis experience and our breakfast was what you would get at a Hampton inn. We are not one to complain but we were that disappointed with the restaurant We would go back to the resort but not the restaurant unfortunately

Been going here 30+ years and our first really bad experience. Our room was musty and the AC didn’t work and neither did the phone. We asked for a different room and were told they were booked solid but rooms were showing available online. Our room was not serviced even once in 3 days. When we asked the cleaning staff to clean our room she didn’t speak English. After 24 hours, someone finally came and brought us a box fan to help with air flow. We left detailed messages with staff with our issues and we were told multiple times a manager wasn’t there but they would relay the issues and no one ever reached out to us. We even told the staff at checkout we likely won’t be staying here when we come back this winter which really makes us sad but even that didn’t prompt a call or email to see how it could be made right. We tried to call again after arriving home and still have yet to get to speak to a manager. The breakfast and bar staff at Timberlakes were phenomenal but dinner staff couldn’t get our order correct and offered bread and sparkling water without clarifying it was not complimentary due to the inconvenience so we weren’t expecting the $21 up charge on our bill. Morning staff was clear to say if we add a drink there is an up charge and gave us the option. Perhaps listing those items on the menu or training staff to inform customers of the charges would eliminate that issue going forward. This was a birthday trip too. Very disappointed.
