The hotel is in an excellent location in old San Juan. El Morro Fort, restaurants and shopping are all close by. The hotel is beautiful but old. We had no running water or air conditioning our first day there. And no hot water our last day. The staff, especially Rachel, were very apologetic and did compensate us one night stay. The room was nice and big, but dark. We were on the ground floor in the corner of the building and could not open the large shuttered windows as we were right on the street. Being in a corner room meant we were actually on two roads which were noisy at night with people outside our windows and early in the morning with the sound of garbage trucks. The restaurant was in a beautiful enclosed courtyard, but the service was not good and the food mediocre. Avocado toast was made with avocado paste, not fresh avocados. The waitress was very inefficient and easily overwhelmed. I did go for coffee every morning and sat at the coffee bar. Alma was great and served a good cup of coffee. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and bar. Nothing fancy, but fun. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but if you are looking for a luxurious pampered stay, this is not for you.
