Modern, clean, security in parking area

Staff was friendly. Room was clean and quiet. Lots of parking. Room was compact, but adequate. Good value in a no frills hotel. breakfast not so great.

Check in was fast, desk attendant was attentive and polite. 2 security vehicles in parking lot when we drove up. Room was clean and comfortable.

Great property and good breakfast. The area was great. Close to everything and it was like 20 mins from downtown and Canada. Only thing missing was a pool.

Just book your room! The hotel is super brand new, clean and designed really well. Close to highway and great amenities near by. Great seating area to lounge and even outdoor seating. Easy check-in. Parking i cluded. Breakfast was surprisingly great! See the video. 24hour service bar with ice, coffee, tea, cups, cutlery available at all times. The staff were super friendly, and accommodating. We checked out at 12pm but I was able to stay in the lobby to quickly jump on a 1hr zoom call at 130pm and still use the internet. Remote work success!

We booked this place as a last minute option when our initial plan fell through. We arrived around 11:30 p.m. and I felt safe. The parking lot and Hotel lobby were easy to find and well lit. Staff was very welcoming, even at that late hour. Super fast check in. The room was very clean. The entire hotel was updated with a modern appeal, and not just new floors put down to make it seem like the room was updated, the entire place was very nice. Extremely comfortable beds and pillows. Elevator was safe and sturdy. Easy to find right off the highway. I will definitely stay here again.

Rooms clean and simplistic, comfortable bed and cool temp. No coffee maker in rooms but 24 hour fresh ground per cup in the lobby. They had a small breakfast area which included a couple hot items, toast, cereal, fruit and beverages. I did see a fitness area but did not look past the doorway. Very friendly staff. I was there for 1 night and didn't have any needs but I am confident they would do their very best to accommodate. Please keep in mind this is a no frills hotel which is what we needed.

Property is fair. Not too many bells and whistles. Great place to sleep and leave your belongings. Staff is well trained and outside of not getting the extra towels I requested, my stay was fine. The no pool was great as u didn’t have loud kids in the hallways. Holiday inn express is next door and the pool is outdoors. Get your room on the east side of the building. Thank me later.

Unless you want to spend more money for a superior location for your stay in Detroit or “need” to stay in a luxury hotel, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t stay here. Convenient location, clean, comfortable, engaged and attentive staff, great free breakfast, 24/7 beverage service, nice fitness room and incredibly affordable. A great hotel!

Great and clean

Talk about a clean hotel! This place surpasses the standard of cleanliness. You could probably eat sitting on the floor and never worry. The amenities they provide are amazing. Quality hand soaps, body washes, shampoos and conditioners already set up to just press the pump handle and you are set. Comfortable beds and pillows. Great breakfast set up. The 24 hour coffee and inviting lobby are so nice. I will stay in an Avid hotel any chance I can get when needing a room.

The hotel was very clean throughout from the lobby, elevators, hallways and room.

The room was dirty. Hair in my bed. Red smear on the ceilings. Damaged ceiling in shower. Tv did not function properly. Loud noise all night that made it hard to sleep. Staff did not resolve any of our issues

This is the cleanest hotel. I’ve been to in the entire United States in the last five years of my travels. Excellent service and quality. I love how they keep the place clean and tidy. I love seeing the floors being Mopped. They even mopped the elevator floors. Loved the room also.

Very clean and quiet

While this hotel was very nice, the area around this hotel was sketchy. Nothing much to walk to for dining and right next to the 696. Breakfast was fine. Fairly normal for hotel breakfast with a limited variety. Muffins were very good. Rooms were nice but the bathroom could have used a bit more cleaning especially in the shower. But no real complaints.

Our room floor was sticky

Was not familiar with this chain, but ratings were good and the price was right, so I took a chance. My stay was…okay…but there’s room for improvement. Fridge in room was not turned on, but I easily fixed that myself. It was dirty inside from rusty screws holding in the freezer element, however. Shower door seems to have been installed improperly because it didn’t seal when closed. Water got all over the floor as a result. Floor in room was not swept or mopped before my arrival. Dust/debris blanketed pretty much the entire floor of the room except the bathroom, which did appear to have been cleaned pretty well. One of the two elevators reeked of cigarette smoke the entire stay (2 nights, 3 days). Cafe area was frequently dirty, as was public restroom. Staff were friendly, though.

This was our second time staying here, but definitely our last. We stayed for 2 nights and the TV AirPlay/screen sharing didn’t work at all only live TV with mostly repeated movies. Front desk staff didn’t seem to care and said it rarely works anyway. Maintenance never followed up. Room was hot even at 65°, pillows had stains, and we found spiders in the bathroom. Really disappointing overall.

Stayed for one night. Bed was soft, ac was cold. The shower leaked onto the floor even with a towel mat down. So maybe some upgrades could be made but it was nice and modern inside. Breakfast was available, I had juice, everything looked like standard breakfast items.

It was fine overall. The fridge in the room made a weird high pitch noise the whole time. The AC started making weird noises halfway thru the stay. Very little storage in the room (no drawers or closets, just wall hooks). Breakfast was minimal, though the coffee was good and available 24/7. No one was at the desk for a while when we needed to check out. Lots of litter around the outside of the building. Beds were comfy, but the flooring and counters, were plastic/laminate and felt cheap. The toiletries were Dove which I'm indifferent to. Staff werent unkind but they clearly didn't want to be there. The smart TV wouldn't connect and the remote was super delayed when we watched regular TV. Overall, fine for the price if you don't plan to spend much time in the room. Though we still spent $500 for 4 nights which hurts my soul.

The hotel is bathed in strong light pollution at night. The rooms have blackout curtains which probably block 90% but since there’s so much to begin with, the room still wasn’t particularly dark. The HVAC unit was functioning normally but was noisy.

Friday night people above us were extremely loud and disrespectful I called at 1100 then at 1215 went downstairs at 1 still going at 2 after security as them to calm down we had to change our rooms which was a inconvenience with us getting comfortable and removing all luggage and things in fridge and etc and also my mom is 73 years old and not feeling well at the time Next day we in other room left went out to hang with family member’s came home around 12 still making noise so called again Then quieted down after 130 this was not a good visit at all and I’m extremely upset and feel we should be reimbursed for this matter

Smaller rooms but clean, quiet and comfortable. We had everything we needed! Nice bed and pillows. Great choice for a night or two.

The AC unit never turns off very noisy at night and blows lots of air

Likes: convenient location. Felt safe. Bed comfortable. Dislike: bacon bits for breakfast? Really??? Shower head was so high up couldnt adjust it. No microwave in room. This is an ok place for a one night stay. It is very basic .

Bad service, waited almost 1 and 1/2 hour for check in. Even when only 2 people were front of you.

Trina is an absolute angel, Brandon was awesome, the room was clean and nice. I loved this hotel!

The staff was very friendly and helpful! Big shoutout to the lovely lady who checked us in, Ms Trina! And to the manager Wynter. They had her running all around and she still had no problem assisting with our questions or requests. Lastly to the night worker Brandon. Very nice hotel!

On way to hotel hot notice it was cancelled ..check n was at 3 when I arrived between 310/330 no rooms available ( we not cleaned )… Was not Aware of deposit hold may take up to 30 days to return … only enough towels for 2 told clerk there was 4 .. got back to hotel asked for more towels was told they had none and I was just going to have to wait and take a shower in the morning (wow telling a customer when they can take a shower never heard of such a thing …unexceptionable ) and no toilet paper these are just a few

Booked 5/17-18 via Expedia, ran into a delay driving from Wisconsin and called ahead stating I would be arriving after midnight. I arrived 5/18 at 155PM, and was told by manager Jolisa Wilkins that the rooms are currently being cleaned. I explained that I had a reservation, she stated my reservation was cancelled overnight due to my late arrival, and to seek a refund from expedia. I explained that this reservation explicitly stated no refunds, and asked if there was anything that she could do. She stated that there was nothing she could do since the reservation was already cancelled. I didn't think this made sense since I stated I would be arriving late and still checked in before next day check-in time of 3pm, and had already paid. Jolisa responded that I was not understanding what she was saying, and refused to do anything to help me. I asked how much another night would cost, I was quoted and told I would have to wait in line after others in the lobby. I left as I did not want to give this hotel anymore money, reached out to Expedia and they stated they would try to get me a refund. They got back to me, and said the property manager repeatedly refused to refund it. Overall, Jolisa did a very poor job at customer service, made me feel as though this was my fault and obviously rented this room to someone else to pocket double the rate. Very shady, would not recommend.

I have stayed at this Avid a number of times. I appreciate that it’s right off the freeway which makes it easy on and off. The staff has always been welcoming. Tasha from housekeeping was great! Very kind and apologetic for housekeeping not making it to my room despite me asking the front desk 2 times for service. I had no toilet paper or towels until about 4:30pm on Thursday after having been there since Tuesday afternoon. Better communication between front desk and housekeeping needs to happen

Great staff and accommodations

It was ok for the price and location. Easy to find, friendly staff, easy check-in, ample amounts of parking, many food options within 15 minutes and comfortable beds. I didn't make it to breakfast so I'm unsure of the quality food. I will say, people were loud between 11pm-1am; lots of people in the hallway and I could hear the people next door to me.

The hotel was clean and the staff were truly amazing. Perfect location to the downtown core and shopping centres. I highly recommend the Avid hotel to any travellers headed to the Michigan area.

Perfect location to stay when visiting Detroit. 20 mins from downtown area and 20 min from zoo and CJ Barrymore amusement center. Clean room, nice pillows. Coffee available all day. Quiet area. A few restaurants around. Nice breakfast at hotel.

Loved this hotel, it was nice and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. This location is close to the interstate so it made the commute very convenient. I will be staying at their other locations.

They had great and varied breakfast options. The eggs were actually GOOD for once lol. It was a little cold in our room and a little humid but the bed was very comfortable and the blankets were thick so we slept great.

The hotel was new, clean. Staff were not the friendliest. Second morning we were there they had no coffee. They use a machine and I'm guessing someone from the outside has to maintain it because the only answer the woman gave me was we have no coffee.

This hotel is fairly new so everything was overall in good shape. Check in was easy. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Preferred more fresh fruit and a few more choices. The hot choices- eggs, potatoes, and breakfast meat was appreciated, but the potatoes were dry and have no flavor. Only 2 cereals, a few overly ripe bananas, and some muffins and oatmeal to choose from. Not terrible, but not the best. The most frustrating part of our stay was dealing with the thermostat in our room. It was freezing when we opened the door, set at 64!! My husband was in heaven and I froze! When I tried to adjust it, the heat kicked on when it hit 67. It took forever to figure it out, but then it kept blasting COLD air all night. Same the second night. We came back the second evening and housekeeping had turned it back down to 64. Why?? That needs to be fixed to make it easier for guests to be comfortable. Also, the smoke detector flashed a bright light every few seconds non stop. Not a problem when you're sleeping, but it was alarming to us at first.

Two things on the negative side were: noise from the rooms on either side and above were very apparent (could hear the cell phone vibrate from the room next to us and a baby crying on the other side). Also, the breakfast was disappointing; bread options were stale and there was no protein choice other than pork. Positives were the friendly staff at checkin and checkout, hotel location was great and our room was clean.

We had an amazing stay for a great affordable price! The rooms were clean, comfy and had up to date technology like chrome casting on the TV and channels of all kinds. The bathrooms were nice and big. Checking in and out was a simple and quick process and breakfast was included! Breakfast had a variety of options, however, if I could make a suggestion - having a vegetarian options for breakfast sandwiches would be appreciated as I was stuck only eating a plain omelette which was subpar at best. Otherwise, the staff are friendly, sweet and hospitable! Highly recommend!
