Great stay. Felt a little concerned with key pad entry to room.. would have preferred key or key card.

Historic vibes in a cute boutique style motel, located at the edge of Downtown Miami in Overtown, which is away from the hustle and bustle yet conveniently situated between Wynwood and Brickell. Comfortable bed, clean room, cold a/c, free parking. Super friendly staff! I will be staying here again.

The internet did not work. This was very important for doing business, and was In town for work. I would have left and gone to a different hotel just because of this, but was only there for one night. The train that runs every 25 mins or so is also very loud.

It was amazing the owner was very nice and pleasant. My only issue is for people like me whom has a heart condition or thats in a wheel chair the owner should think about installing an elevator or escalator. But other than that is was the bomb 💣. I will definitely go back and also like the vintagae feeling l....loved the dressers.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to decorate the rooms and lobby but neglected to maintain it. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in our room, the toilet paper holder was off the wall, pieces of the bathroom counter underneath were missing. We had no cups in our room and after we asked, they never appeared. The continental breakfast was sparse but there wasn’t any bowls or salt and the front desk couldn’t find any. The bread for toast was the absolutely cheapest and nastiest you could find. On the plus, The staff was universally nice and friendly. Gave us lots of tips to do things but they didn’t seem to know what was what in the hotel. The area around the hotel did not have a lot touristy stuff around but it was an easy walk to the bay side. Good parking. We felt safe in the area though it was run down. A good manager would straighten these things out and the hotel would definitely get a higher rating. I just kept thinking the whole time: how is this worth the money?

The hotel was great, so was staff! We had a lot of luggage and staff helped us up the stairs as there is not elevator.

Wasn’t loud or disturbing like other may have mentioned, black owned businesses each room is named after a famous black person ….. only thing I didn’t like was the tv was tooo small for my liking . Clean, quite and friendly staff .

Good cheap place to stay that was interesting and not a chain. Parking was limited. It's downtown Miami so not the safest area. Multiple homeless walking around on arrival at 12:30pm and had to park on the street. However, service was good and room was enjoyable.

The Hotel has a New Orleans style vibe which we just loved. It's history was surprisingly musician based from all of the famous Jazz musicians that have stayed there since 1938 and on. Incredible conversations with the staff were so enjoyable. parking was secure and right next to the Hotel. Very convenient off the I-95 exit. Lots of cool shops close by. We will stay there again when in Miami. Thank you for having us in the William H Johnson Suite!

This was a fantastic find. Not only was it comfortable and convenient to stay at…the staff was ultra friendly and helpful, parking is included, there are several restaurants that are open until 10pm within walking distance, the breakfast is a continental one (which is all anyone needs to start the day with) AND it has a beautiful backyard that you can simply “chill” in to relax. A green escape from the concrete jungle. We will definitely be staying here again!!!!

Upon arrival my room was not ready. But they made an effort to have it “ready” when my friend arrived 7 hours later. The staff was super friendly. The room’s floor and walls were not clean. As I exited shower with clean feet and walked to bed the bottom of my feet were black. The healthy breakfast was primarily honeybuns and donettes. The coffee was rarely ready at 7am. There was no where nearby to grab a cup unless I wanted to go to the soul food restaurant. Unbeknownst to me the hotel is in Harlem. The location to the venue (Bayfront Park) was convenient but I felt unsafe occasionally walking to and fro downtown Miami, which was a little over a mile each way. Every morning I woke to roosters crowing and the train and no coffee. One night they threw a party which woke me up at 12:20am. It sounded like they were in the room with me. I couldn’t go back to sleep until 3:30am when they finally stopped talking/laughing and walking around the hotel. The next morning I let them know I didn’t sleep well. I then asked for a late checkout because my flight was later in the evening and I didn’t want to drag my luggage around Miami. They charged me $50 for a late checkout even after not having my room ready, me having to switch rooms, my room not being clean, and having my sleep disturbed.

The staff was great and friendly. Loved that we were able to check in early for a fee. The floors were dirty, I normally like to take off my shoes when I go into the rooms. I had to wear my sandals when getting off the bed. Walls are thin, could hear other tenants use their TVs late at night.

Please take this review serious, and DO NOT STAY at this hotel. I went there and there was lizard in the room. They gave me another room, there was a lizard too and both rooms were smelling TERRIBLE. It was the DIRTIEST hotel I’ve ever seen. I asked for a refund because me and my mother didn’t want to sleep with lizards. They told me that it was okay and I had to talk to expedia for it. Then Expedia asked them for a cancelation and refund. I sent them the photo of a lizard in the room as a proof BUT THE HOTEL DIDN’T ACCEPT TO REFUND ME. I PAID 330$ FOR NOTHING. I’ve stayed in many different hotels all around the world and it was worst experience of all time. I hope this hotel will get no customers in the future get what they deserve.

Our comforter was dirty and had food stuck to it. The floor was filthy and when we took our shoes off our feet were black.

Okay, here isy honest feedback for this hotel. It's a basic hotel to sleep and take a shower. That's it. It's an old building that has had some remodeling like fresh paint but it still smells musty or smoky. The staff are super friendly! My room was decent but I didn't have any shampoos or soap.

Needed a place to crash after American Airlines left me stranded at the Miami airport. The front desk staff is lovely, but the room and location left a lot to be desired. The floor was filthy, bedding had holes, toilet seat was dirty, security chain on the door was broken (door faces outside), etc.

Arrived 8pm and the room was not ready. Waited 15 minutes. Desk clerk gave us the wrong code so had to go back. Hallway cluttered with old furniture and sketchy character. Room is small, very basic, bathroom was not clean and had no toilet paper. Windows do not have good curtains and bright lights pore in. Stray cat in the hallway making noise along with loud cars and then roosters crowing in the morning. Breakfast is a bad joke with bad coffee. The only good thing about this hotel is a very comfortable bed and interesting decor in the lobby. The staff is friendly and try’s to be professional but the just don’t know what they’re doing.

Hot water only last a minute. Noisy

There was dust on the floor of the room and bed. There were also some leftover bolts or screws from a project that had been worked on before I came in. There was no desk or chair for me to use for writing. There was no way for me to connect my PC to the hotel room TV for watching my own content. I am sorry to say that noise was an issue, both from wandering chickens and a local construction project. The door to the room was very hard to shut properly, requiring me to force it. However, I was only in town to visit the consulate and this location made that within easy reach. I was also able to order food from uber eats from it. A Publix was a few blocks away. It wasn't entirely bad. I write this review not out of spite but to give constructive criticism - these are things that need to be dealt with and fixed by hoteliers and cleaning staff before they bring in paying guests.

What an absolute gem of a hotel. The lobby has some fantastic art. The room was immaculate. I had a double queen room for my daughter and I, we both agreed that the mattresses were some of the most comfortable we’ve ever stayed in. There’s a small public park next door that had roosters strutting around, awesome. This is an owner/operator hotel, and you can feel the difference. They care about this place. Every staff member was warm and inviting. 15 minute walk to Kaseya Center, 15 minute drive to South Beach. There’s an on-site parking lot with designated spots for the hotel. I don’t ever write reviews, but this place more than earned it.

Nice place. A little old but in good conditions

The room they originally put us in had no television working and has ants It also was by a little park filled with roosters who were super noisy.The walls were so thin that you could hear everything happening in the other rooms. It was like the people were actually in the room with you. The staff were super friendly but they locked up the place at night time because they went to sleep

Tv didn’t work. Staff did offer us to move to anew room but i declined.

The hotel was beautiful and close to our new favorite restaurant. We ended up purchasing 4 pieces of artwork! The staff was amazing and very accommodating. The only downside was the walls were a bit thin.

Most all was great. Do know that the rooms are smallish and we had no desk/table or coffee maker. The remote for the TV was missing. This was minor overall as we really only stayed there to go to a concert nearby.

We stayed here for one night while on a long transit between NYC and the Caribbean. The stay was comfortable, the check in was smooth and the staff were nice. Comfortable bed. Decor and furniture are dated, but I think that's part of the point given the historical nature of the hotel. Bathroom didn't have any soap and bottles of water were not complimentary. Would stay here again for a night or two, but far from luxury.

I stayed for one night , a lady named ( tonie) was very sweet in nice she’s a good reason to come back to the hotel by its self no problem at check in . Everyone also had a good vibe.

Best property I've been to in a long time! Absolute superb service on my check-in and check-out. Super comfortable bed (a shocker and lovely surprise!), clean room, and lovely history throughout the entire hotel. I had the Ella Fitzgerald room and it was lovely. Can't wait to be back!

The staff was SO nice. Zoe especially with telling me about what's to do in the area. Hotel has a rich history, definitely ask the staff about it! Rooms were clean and very nice looking. Water was hot, pressure could be better though. Beds were comfortable but slightly too firm..AC was really cold but easily adjustable. Overall very nice hotel and definitely recommend. A+

The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed chitchatting with them, asking for directions and recommendations for delicious food in the area. Hotel location is great! It’s very close to many attractions in the area. Takes about 10min by car to Bayside Market. The hotel itself is very charming! The rooms are themed and a good size. Bed was super comfortable! The only part that we didn’t quite like were the pillows but that might just be a matter of preference. Thank you for a very pleasant stay Dunns Josephine hotel!

Great hotel. Unique decor and very friendly staff. I was greeted by Taylor late night for check in and he was super friendly!!! Minority owned business! Comfortable rooms, particularly the bedding. Walk to businesses around you. Be sure to park in back when checking in if there’s no street parking. If you're not used to city living the area may look intimidating, but it’s safe and quite nice during the day.. Just use common sense and don’t leave anything in the car. In addition I really liked the outdoor seating where you can chill and have a coffee and snack. Breakfast is ok, there’s drip coffee, teas, fruit and oatmeal for healthy options. The rest is packaged baked processed foods- tasty but not the healthy stuff. One thing I’d say is that the rooms need some TLC. But not a big deal- overall a pleasant experience.

The receptionist named Tylor was excellent. He was very helpful attentive and caring. He organized the transportation for us and always gave us a helping hand. A big thank you to him for his outstanding service.

A 15 - 20 min walk will get you downtown for dinning options. Supermarket very close. Great walking location, you can walk the waterfront in an hours round-trip. Continental breakfast. Recommend!

Staff was very friendly, the location was convenient.

The staff was wonderful. The location for two young ladies coming in late was not ideal. The property itself inside was clean and very nice rooms. Beds were very comfy. The room we were in was spacious but right on the street so very loud. The property had lots of pluses as it was a neat boutique hotel but the location was a little concerning.

While walking, a police officer told us to return to motel and do not go outside bc the area was unsafe. My wife would not leave the building after police encounter.

The lady at the front desk let us check in pretty early which was nice because we flew all night. We were able to walk to the downtown and brickell still but it was quite far. Good place for the price.

We stayed at Dunns-Josephine Hotel for one night prior to our cruise, and it turned out to be a great choice. The hotel is conveniently located, only about 10 minutes from the Port of Miami, which made embarkation day stress-free. There is a continental breakfast available, along with snacks and beverages, which was perfect for us since we were heading out early for our cruise and weren’t expecting a large breakfast. I was a little nervous going in due to some of the reviews, but overall my experience was awesome and I felt safe on arrival at 2 a.m. Zo was pleasant, professional, and very friendly, which really set the tone for our stay. I would definitely stay here again before a cruise.

Loved the hotel’s theme, staff and location. 15 minute walk to Wynwood and two mile walk to Brickell. I would support them again.

The staff were amazing but the area was a little questionable. They parking is in a dark corner of a public parking lot, however the employees do keep an eyes on the area.

It’s a nice little hotel. Red Rooster restaurant is very close and has excellent food and service.

It's a very nice place but they don't have a kitchen to cook any breakfast so it was just neutragrain bars and muffins yogurt et cetera. Nothing with any kind of chocolate chips or anything. And coffee from a thermos

My stay was okay, at check in I had a room booked. The check in that they have on their Expedia says 3pm but my room wasn’t ready even past 4. When I checked in a gentleman by the name of Bryan told me my room is set, it was roughly 3:57-3:58 before entering I asked everything should be ready and set he told me yes, as I walk into the room a couple was in my room that was supposed to be ready by 3 mind you and the girl inside, and her boyfriend told me they had late check out. I was not made aware of that and very unhappy with this cause I didn’t want to walk into a cisgender heterosexual couple doing their hair mind you this was 4pm. when I return to the front desk Bryan tells me that no they do not have late check out they didn’t have permission for that. At this point I was very let down from the first impression, I had nothing to do with this miscommunication. Anyways so I asked the front desk is there any other rooms available for me to check into as I have to go to work at 4:30 ? I was running tight on time and the man says no that’s your room they’ll be out soon and it will be clean for you when you get back from work. Anyways it was not a good first impression lots of miscommunication between front desk and customers. Then also the sheets were stained everything smelled the property needs renovation and remodeling. The continental breakfast is lacking it’s not continental only dried out granola bars powdered sugar donuts, and fruits.

We did not like it. We had another reservation, but for some reson it got cancelled, and they moved us to this hotel. The room we had, need an upgrade. The breakfast was really bad. Just boilled egg, coffe, apple and cereal in a bag. No bread. The staff was ok. One actually tried to give us his own bread for breakfast. We did not feel safe outside the hotel, but it was just a feeling. Never going back.
