The Resch House

The Resch House is a historic building, with a great pub, great beer and great friendly staff.

The accommodation was very hot with the ceiling fan totally ineffective. Very high noise from street traffic. No in-room facilities such as jug, refrigerator. Bathroom facilities not attached to room.

If you like old school style pubs the Resch hits the spot. This is not the place for some yuppie muppet you'd best look elsewhere. Getting around was easy, pubs and food around the area are excellent and plenty of live music to boot. The pub itself was really nice and has great staff also in a great location, super soft bedding, the shower took a little working out (water pressure) but it did not have a TV in the room.... Truth is it wasn't missed. Just wish that check-out would be 1 hour later for those you like a sleep in. I will return cheers.

Good value for money, shares bathrooms but bathrooms are single use only which is good. Can be noisy but for a quick stay all good. T

This property had no elevator had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with luggage, no one to get information from all done by e-mail so with no internet that was all late or not at all! Shared bathroom that floor was always wet and slippery very unsafe, no air conditioning, no TV to help drown the loud noises outside

Noisy, no lift - on 2nd floor, no TV, no aircon, common use toilets and showers, no jug or tea making facilities.

We stayed Thursday - Saturday. The Resch House has karaoke on Thursday and Saturday nights, until about 2am - you will hear and feel every beat; it's like trying to sleep in a nightclub, with distorted bass and bad singing/yelling pumping through your room. Even noise cancelling earphones only just take the edge off. If you're expecting to sleep at all, stay out till 3.00am. After that, the incessant pedestrian crossing beeping, horns, sirens and the odd street-side domestic might lull you to sleep if you're lucky. There is no aircon, so you can't even close the windows to try and reduce the noise; in Feb/March it's too hot and stuffy. The shared bathroom wasn't serviced while we were there, so the floor was almost always wet, forgotten towels stayed where they were. The reno on the place is nice, but that's where the charm ends.

You get what you pay for. Don't rely on internet working. No TV etc. No kettle or anything to drink out of like a glass.

Great if you like an old style pub in a great location with multiple dining and entertainment venues around, this is value for money for Sydney! In addition, fun was had downstairs in the main bar for karaoke night! Drinks very reasonably priced and great fun crowd for someone middle aged. There was a little noise in my room when I left the karaoke, but it didn’t bother myself. Ear plugs are provided. No fridge, cups or glasses in the room so may want to bring your own (cups not fridge)

Rooms are huge you could easily fit another full size bed in one room along. Really great location on the corner of George street right down from the Chinatown Tram Stop. My only gripe is that it got extremely hot with a piddly ceiling fan, they had an old aircon unit installed in the room i was in but no remote. Please install aircon its necesary to get a good nights sleep in summer. If you have the windows open the sound from the pubs will be loud but it's the city so *shrugs*. The bathrooms are incredibly clean although i would appreciate either another bar of soap for the shower or wall mounted body wash dispensers in the showers. One bar of soap and one towel isn't enough for 2 people.

Room was a hot box. No ac and a ceiling fan that simply spun rather than move the air. Small window opened onto pedestrian crossing that beeped and buzzed all night. Share shower was dirty and floor wet and slippery without a floor waste for the water to drain. Would have been better camping or sleeping in a car! Give it a miss and spend the extra $

Decent size room. Right in a busy cool part of Sydney. No toilet, but the toilets are close. Really clean room and facilities. I'd fully recommend to busy travellers. It's definitely not quiet as there's bars and noise everywhere. I loved the noise and buzz of everything. The streets get quiet around midnight during the week nights and later in the weekend. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, this is not for you. Personally, i thought the room was perfect!

Very noisey hence the ear plugs, on Wotif no mention of shared shower/toilet facilities. Average hotel showers smelt mouldy.

Some strange guy was sleeping in the hallway outside our room the first night and “bathing” in the toilet room. There was some blood on the wall of one shower that didn’t get cleaned off during our stay. The toilets are odd - the tap fills the cistern so they run a lot longer than you expect. It’s VERY loud with the pub noise downstairs - the traffic noise isn’t bad but the karaoke is really loud and goes until about 1am. The bed is comfortable though and the room was surprisingly warm. Its location is great though - 5 minutes from Town Hall station and surrounded by all-night food and drinks and groceries.

The shower available did not have hot water. The room was clean however i was unable to open the windows. They did provide earplugs which worked really well to block out the pub noise. Be aware there are a few stairs to climb to gwt to your room

House and room access via code went really well, so that was not an issue but the room I stayed in was very noisy as the windows are not double glazed, old and the room looked out onto George St. There was also no aircon and only a fan. Combined, this made for an average night of broken sleep.

They email and tell you there is no reception and check out is 10am with no luggage storage. Then they email you self check instructions the day before you arrive. The code to get thru the front door is four digits then a #. All rooms are upstairs, no lift, so not wheelchair accessible and also leave your second suitcase at home. Then there’s a separate code for your own door, seven digits and a #, mine was a little similar but it took me three days to remember it, and you really need to use it because the toilets and shower rooms are in the corridor. My deluxe room was delightfully spacious but there was no chest of drawers or a wardrobe for your clothes (I was there four nights). The room had obviously originally been two single rooms with the wall in between removed. The four poster bed had been fitted with a medium weight cloth canopy (not in the promo photo) which I realised was because the ceiling fan above was not able to be turned off - was constantly on at a low/medium speed. However, this meant in the stifling humidity lying on the bed yo7 got no benefits fr9m it. The second ceiling fan gave a tiny bit of airflow detectable by lying top to tail. The noise from the karaoke and pub below and opposite is generally bearable, especially if you close the windows. But the you lose any natural airflow. No coffee or tea facilities or cutlery or crockery (I’m wrong, there’re two small ceramic cups) or a fridge, mini or otherwise. Definitely not suitable for a holiday break.

The rooms are decent size, has a fan but no aircons. Fans dont do the job in summer. It can get a bit noisy here due to the location but it's pretty handy and serves the purpose for many.

Disappointing service from wotif and this venue. Wont use again

Its ok , i did not realize the batch rooms were separate. Also there was no room heater, i borrow one from the bartender.

My watch fell in the room, and I sent them an email asking them to help me find it, but no one has replied to my email so far. The most important thing is that this room is too noisy. The sound of the electric trains downstairs seriously affects our sleep，

Instructions on access code process to receive did not match instructions by kind staff when I called them.this created a little stress. No form was needed 48hrs before and there should have been an indication on when code would be sent. Nice accomodation. Bit noisy due to construction but ended after 9pm. Window had no locking or latch. Even a piece of wood would do. Soap in communal bathroom would be nice

Shared bathroom. Worked out alright. Just above a karaoke and pub. Didn’t bother me. Had fans. But was central to everything and easy to access with self check in

It is noisy from street but for the price and location understandable.

It’s a great area and very convenient. Just know that because it’s on a Main Street it’s very loyal and noisy.

GREAT LOCATION!! The only down side is the noise but they do provide ear plugs so its manageable and it does get really hot and stuffy in the room with only the fans (I came end of Feb in 25°). But overall those downs sides can't beat the great location.

Close to Central Station. Convenient place to crash after a win at the footy! Go Swans!
