Charming Summerville Home with Yard and Sunroom

We found dirty dishes in cabinets such as plates, pans and mugs that were used but not washed. Like a prank. One mug had an old tea back stuck in the bottom that wouldn’t come out. Then found mouse droppings in drawer underneath stove. I have pics of all of this. We then found the live mouse who set up a nest in bathroom drawer with a box of q tips. Could not catch it. Owner sent brother who also saw the mouse but was scared to grab it and I don’t blame him. We had a toddler and two 5 year olds staying with us and we had to leave the first night so didn’t complete the stay. Owners brother was nice, but we really needed a pest control and a DEEP clean of the entire house. I’m struggling to get a refund and owner has been non responsive. I will be trying to dispute charges with Amex. There were also stink bugs, but we didn’t care about them after the mouse running around. He had been there awhile and was getting pretty big…unless it was a female about to have babies…can’t rule that out either. Other than that…it was nice.

This VRBO was in the best location for our needs, very spacious, and very comfortable. It was an older home with beautiful windows & doors, intriguing antiques and artwork. We enjoyed the views, the pool table, and sunroom!

The cottage was cozy and lots of space to have conversations with family. The kitchen space is great with granite countertops and a new dishwasher and plenty of dishes. The beds were very comfortable and the fans helped to keep the rooms noise free from the highway nearby. The checking was easy and the property is secluded and safe.

Pictures are deceiving. This is a very old house with what seems like several add ons, one section of the house does not have central heat or air, there was a small space heater for the master bedroom, but took a long time to get warm, was VERY cold the first night, we only had hot water about half of the time when taking showers. The house was not filthy, but it definitely wasn’t super clean, dead bugs everywhere, cobwebs in ceiling, and windows. The biggest disappointment was that the sunroom is not heated, nor is there any way to heat it, that was literally the main reason we booked this rental and we weren’t even able to enjoy it, our kids had to bundle up in jackets to even go out there. The area around the house is less than appealing, run down equipment and unkept grass/fields. Pictures should be updated so guests know exactly what they are getting. One positive, we did see some great wildlife in the field outside. There was some odor in the house that had myself and another guest sneezing the entire time. There is only one skillet in the kitchen, made it very difficult to cook anything. When we stripped the beds to leave, there are huge stains on the king bed right where we had been laying our heads! Disgusting!

We absolutely love this place! It was the perfect location for us to spend a working vacation and visit with our family. The home is roomy and very cozy. It would definitely work for a family as well. The kitchen is great and has everything one would need to make a meal. And the view of Taylor's Ridge is just beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about Nancy either. She's very responsive and attentive to her guests' needs. Definitely would recommend Nancy's place to anyone traveling to the Summerville/Chattooga County area.
