B&B HOTEL St Gallen

Mixed feelings about this hotel. First, the good. The hotel is (for Switzerland at least) not extortionately priced in terms of the room, which is modern and clean. Also, the lady working on reception (she was from Kefalonia) was great. Very helpful and friendly. However, her male colleague was far from as customer service oriented. When I queried the parking situation, after having done multiple laps of the roads around the hotel looking for the garage, I ended up parking outside the hotel to ask them where the garage is - he looked at me like I was an alien and said I needed to check in first & they don’t tell you where the car park is before then! All very secretive and bizarre. Plus parking is expensive at 20 CHF per night, as is the vending machine (4.5 CHF for a Coke!) When I said that they should give this info before a guest arrives at the property, in order to save them time and stress looking for a parking garage that isn’t well signposted or accessible at that stage, he again looked at me like I was an alien and it was clear he was about as flexible as concrete with his opinion on this. Also, the hotel has a crazy rule where guests must book breakfast the day in advance, which, having stayed in many B&B hotels throughout Europe, is an exception to normal with this chain. Finally, the air conditioning didn’t work in my room. I considered going to discuss this but given my experiences, i wondered if he might say I needed to book it a week in advance!

Ótimo hotel para uma curta estadia. Limpo e bem localizado. Próximo a estação de trem. Oferece café da manhã e estacionamento pago.

The room was perfect for the location. We needed a set of rooms for one night. They were convenient, well priced, and brand new so in perfect condition. Check in and check out are electronic but there is staff on the first floor to answer questions and provide assistance. If you drive, Parking is the only challenge.

Gut gelegen für Anfahrt mit dem Auto. Parkgarage, Platz für CHF 20/Tag. Zimmer minimalistisch aber sehr funktionell und gute Grösse. Kleenex nicht vorhanden und WC-Papier etwas dünn.

The price was great for the area. The room was modern. The only downside for us was the parking garage was full and we had to park on the street and walk to the hotel. I was told there are only 5 dedicated parking spots for the entire hotel.

Le parking

Hotel was decent, rooms very basic. Parking was the most expensive we encountered in Switzerland & other parts of Europe. Check-in was ok but person who checked us in did not provide us with information regarding the tourist pass that provides local transport, this is part of the tourist tax you pay. Would have been nice if we were given accurate information when we checked in. There is a supermarket within walking distance which was handy. We only stayed for 1 night, not sure I would stay there for several nights.

Covered parking for the motorcycle is always a bonus, great room, clean, comfy bed, nice pillows, near train station as they usually are. Nothing to dislike especially for the cost, great value for money hotels.

Excellent rapport qualité/prix, on ne peut pas mieux. Chambre spacieuse et très propre. SDB au top avec douche à l'talienne. Petit déjeuner copieux et très correct. Personnel très aimable et attentionné. Attention, à côté de la gare de Spinden et non de la gare principale, mais pas de problème, il n'y a que 5 minutes de trajet entre les 2 gares.

Hôtel propre et moderne, chambre spacieuse et confortable, bonne literie. Bonne insonorisation par rapport à l’extérieur mais pas entre les chambres. Accueil du personnel pas très sympathique. Pour le prix, le petit déjeuner est un peu limité en choix et quantité.

Leider hat es in der Dusche, Schimmel auf den Fugen. Leider war auch ein minimaler Geruch.

Good budget option close to St Fiden station and a short bus ride into St Gallen centre. Clean, comfortable with friendly staff. Great shower. Good WiFi. Missing the amenities of other hotel chains but this reflects in the price

Ruhig und sauber

Letti e cuscini molto comodi. Personale simpatico e disponibile. Purtroppo lo scarico della doccia era completamente otturato e ad ogni doccia si allagava il bagno. Per il resto, tutto molto pulito e piacevole.

Convenient location right by the train station, the room is clean, comfortable and the value for money is good. It's not the most exciting location, but I keep this hotel in mind for a later trip to St. Gallen.

La struttura necessita di una migliore manutenzione. Al mio arrivo il bagno era sporco e, nonostante abbia richiesto più volte l’intervento delle pulizie, dopo due giorni la situazione non era cambiata. La reception si è comunque dimostrata disponibile e mi ha assegnato un’altra stanza.

Pros: It is a modern, well-designed hotel. The rooms are reasonably priced and were relatively quiet. There are multiple bus stops close by as well as a larger Migros. The rooms are air conditioned so it’s a nice escape from the heat! Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Cons: the beds are a bit uncomfortable and the bedding is a bit loud (crinkly) when you move around. I was hoping there would be fresh cut fruit with the breakfast, but there were only some whole oranges and fruit.

Rooms could use a minifridge and perhaps a kettle. Wonderful bathroom and bed size. We had no problems with air-conditioning. Location is great, we were spontaneously offered a city map and public transport tickets (paid for by the tourist tax apparently). Breakfast is extra, probably worth the money for people in hurry. What stands out the most to me are the receptionists, which were very polite and helpful. If I return to the area, I will definitely consider this hotel again.

Relativ neues und modernes Hotel. Sehr einfach eingerichtet und fast kein Platz um die Kleider aufzuhängen. Das Doppelbett für 2 Erwachsene viel zu klein und leider nur 1 Decke.

The only thing missing was a refrigerator in the room. Everything else was perfect and I am happy with my stay at B&B!

Ficamos 2 noites neste hotel e gostamos muito de lá!! Foi uma escolha certeira. Pontos positivos: Quarto grande, com espaço suficiente para abrir as malas. Chromecast instalado na TV de cada quarto, tornando possível transmitir qualquer conteúdo do seu celular com a segurança de não precisar fazer login (Netflix, YouTube…). Achei sensacional poder assistir um filme antes de dormir. Cama confortável com roupas de cama limpas e macias. Dois tipos de chuveiros quentes, com pressão e box fechado de vidro que não vaza. Melhor cortina blackout que vimos até agora nos hotéis da região. O quarto continua escuro mesmo depois do amanhecer. Estacionamento coberto no subsolo com vaga marcada (custo de 20 euros). Equipe muito simpática e prestativa. Café da manhã excelente, com boa variedade. Tomamos uma cerveja no hotel à noite e também tem uma vending machine com snacks e bebidas. Quartos não precisam de chave; cada hóspede ganha um código de acesso. Restaurante nas proximidades (5min de caminhada) chamado Hellas Greek Food sensacional! Recomendo ir até lá para o jantar. Boa base para a gente explorar a região de Appenzell. Pontos negativos: O hotel fica próximo da linha do trem e dá para ouvir um pouquinho à noite. Mesmo tendo sono leve não me incomodou, mas meu marido acordou algumas vezes. Não há frigobar no quarto.

Der Mitarbeiter an der Reception was nicht aus der Ruhe zu bringen. Das Checkin dauerte viel zu lange.

El personal de recepción demaciado petulante y sin educación. No tienen ningun tipo de servicio. Este punto hace que sea un hotel muy negativo.

One of the nicest B&B hotel we stayed at. Convenient location within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nice spacious clean room and comfortable beds. Close to grocery store. Staff was efficient, friendly and ready to help. Nice lobby to have a beverage and mingle. Highly recommend this B&B.

Das Personal an der Rezeption sehr nett, falls überhaupt jemand da ist, ansonsten lange Wartezeit bis überhaupt jemand kommt, ansonsten das Hotel mittelmäßig, zum Übernachtung gut.

Modernes, frisches, junges Hotel. Alles bestens. Gleich beim Bahnhof St. Fiden gelegen, also etwas vom Zentrum entfernt.

En general fue una perfecta opción este hotel tiene muy buena proporción calidad precio las habitaciones están confortables con un diseño moderno y cómodo. Los baños son maravillosos y la cama muy cómoda. El servicio del personal sobre todo de Martina en la recepción es muy agradable. Lo único negativo es que nos tocó habitación cerca donde pasan los trenes y había bastante ruido por la noche. Además no está muy cerca del centro hay que tomar el autobús número 6 unas 5 paradas pero a pie está lejos. Pero de forma general es muy buena opción

very nice decoration everywhere,the lobby,the restaurant etc.The room was okay with size,but the bed was not big enough for parents and a child as they described,but we asked for a baby bed and they immediately brought it.it was big and good enough for the baby to sleep in.The breakfast was good,enough variety of stuff to eat.especially the müsli was fantastic.Hotel is not far away form the city center.
