Hotel Metropolitan

The room was very spacious and clean when we arrived. It seemed like it would be a good place to stay for multiple nights since the kitchenette had a fridge, microwave, and dining utensils. The keypad entry is also very convenient. There is no on-site parking; just street parking or a lot a block down. The parking situation wasn’t ideal for us since we drove, but this is a good place to stay if you’re taking public transport or walking to your destinations.

Room was not bad. Parking outside to unload was difficult as it is downtown and the parkings up front were already taken. We were unsure if the cars parked up front belonged to people starting at the hotel or otherwise. No front desk staff although they do provide information close to check in to get inside the building. If you want to speak to a live person, no one available on site. They do allow off-site parking a few streets down for a fee.

Much more spacious than expected which was a pleasant surprise. Centrally located. Close to the beach, convention center, public transportation, restaurants and shopping. Street parking is scarce. Parking is possible to book with the host for a nightly cash only fee. It’s located a block away in a parking garage. Pack light, this place doesn’t have an elevator. Expect to climb stairs. Overall, great short term stay.

Perfect for a night before cruise No elevator- so plan on carrying your bags up and down no contact check in was easy very clean, nothing fancy great location

Easy check in. Parking is walkable distance away (1 block away). The room itself is clean with plenty of space. I would stay here again. Overall great experience.

Says sleeps 4 and only slept 2, kitchenette could upgrade to something useful. A microwave and I one cup coffee maker with cardboard coffee. And dirty dishes for 2 left out on a dirty dish dryer and empty cupboards.!bathroom had broken hairdryer, shower had empty body soap bottle. Good bed was compfotable, AC kept It cool on a hot day. Nice location. Definitely get the parking pass, no parking at hotel.

No elevator. No fast food around

There is no parking on site. If you need parking you have to notify the hotel by 1pm on the day if checkin and you cannot check in until 3pm. The notification that is sent with the parking information was received the day of checkin after 1pm. There is no one onsite for checkin and parking is 3 blocks away at another hotel. You have to pay in cash for parking. There is no bottled water in the rooms. There is no info on the property in the rooms. There are no amenities at the venue and the shampoo/conditioner/body wash was empty. There are only 2 towels and if you want more you have to ask ahead of your stay and that was not in the listing. The housekeeper was so very kind and she did a wonderful job. We will not be staying here again and will not refer anyone.

Nice place to stay. Just be weary that they don't have an elevator so if you have luggage you'll be lugging it up flights of stairs.

The hotel has a strange smell, and the carpet on the stairs and in the hallways probably traps the smell even more. I found large yellow stains on one of the bath towels and found little red streaks on my bed sheet. I thought the hotel was very cute and the room was large with lots of windows, which was nice. It seems that most of the problems is with their linens.

While it was a good price and close to downtown. The mattress cover had an unknown stain upon arrival. The bathroom had NO AC so it was so humid and hot showering. The window didn’t open. The floor and tables in the suite looked like they had not been cleaned for weeks. Lastly, the cleanliness looked like it was not taken seriously. The place needs serious cleaning staff.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The room was filthy, and we saw bugs and roaches during our stay. They didn’t even provide a towel for my son. There was no staff present on the property, no parking available, and communication was terrible—they barely responded to any of our messages or concerns. I would not recommend this place to anyone. On top of that, the area felt completely unsafe, especially for families. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Bathroom smelled. Floor was sticky and it wasn’t clean. Better to pay another $50 and stay somewhere nice.

I checked out of the property early. There was hair in the shower, stains on the carpet, and the building and room had a potent smell (old retirement building...)

The place is beautiful and the room is wonderfully clean and tidy. I loved it and will definitely return on my next vacation.

Tracy was the best part of our stay. She was very friendly and accommodating for storing our luggage, as there is no elevator, which was our biggest issue, because we are elderly and my husband uses a cane, so going up and down the stairs was somewhat difficult. She also allowed me to use her printer to print off our boarding passes for our cruise. As far as the room goes, I was somewhat disappointed. The floors had not been properly swept or mopped ( there were a few dead bugs and the bottom of my husband's socks got dirty after walking around the room a few times). The mattress was horribly too soft, which caused significant back pain after sleeping on it two days. The bathroom and kitchen areas appeared to be clean. Overall, it was mainly the floors that seemed to have gotten overlooked while cleaning. The few bugs appeared to be small dead roaches, which obviously proves that poison had been set out to keep them at bay, which is typical (especially in hot climates). Overall, the room was doable for a short stay, and is in a convenient location. Very close to Vons grocery store, a short walk to the beach, and various nail/ hair salons, etc .... The hotel also keeps the entrance locked, which is good for safety. However, they are not 24/7. They are open from 10 am until? Honestly, I won't stay there again, because no elevator, but other than that it's an ok place to stay.

Check-in was very easy. The staff provided very good service when we requested something. The room is clean and comfortable.

Clean and quiet.

Close to pier, the room we had the heating/cooling unit was broken so they had a space heater and a portable air conditioner boarded and taped to the window. A lot of noise at night from bars and things around but for a one night stay it was cool.

Great location in an historic building. Room was clean and comfortable. It was like staying in a studio apartment. Having a kitchenette was a big plus. Would stay here again next time I come to Long Beach.

Though I wasn’t really looking for something with a kitchenette, we ended up using it and it was really nice to have. Clean, pretty spacious and quaint. Took a little while for the hot water to get to our room, but not too bad. Not surprised by this due to age of hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

There was no one on site at check in. The pillows where so thick and hard you could not sleep on them, nor ask for a new one because again…. No one on site. It felt more like a youth hostel vs hotel. The windows were single pane original and you could hear all the drama and bar fights from the local bar on the corner along with the domestic altercation. Followed by a nosy upstairs neighbor. So basically a horrible night with no sleep. Not a great way to start a vacation.

Internet. Poor

Insanely loud. The room isn’t sound proofed at all, I could hear people talking on the street below the whole night. Called the “front desk” (which isn’t a real front desk because no one is ever there) and they told me there is nothing they could do about it. Was up till 3. I’m actually usually a pretty deep sleeper so this was a surprise.

It was a cute, and unique little place. I loved the atmosphere. Though the beds were a little stiff, and the roku tv did not have the roku remote and the local tv remote only allowed 1 channel. My kid was not excited about that. Otherwise great experience. Also, very thin walls could hear people in the halls and outside.

The room itself was spacious and the bed comfortable. The wifi was reliable. The room wasn't very sound proof, so you get a lot a street noise. However it is more like a boarding house rather than a hotel. The airline lost my bags and becuase this hotel doesn't have a regular staffed reception, I had to waste a day waiting around for my bag to arrive. This is not a fault of the hotel really but more of an inconvenience if something goes wrong, which it did for me.

My family and i enjoyed our stay here. I was in town for a convention and it was an easy 15 minute walk. Close to restaurants and the outlets. The bed was comfortable, loved the big kitchen and bathroom, and large closet. And we loved the roku TV. For parking, tou can park on the street or use the hotel around the corner they have partnered with for parking. It is a historic hotel, so if one does not appreciate old charm, i wouldnt recommend. No elevator but we didnt mind the short amount of steps. Water takes a bit to get hot so just keep that in mind. With historic hotels you have thin walls and creaky floors but it wasnt an issue with us. We appreciated the updated bathroom and wood floors. Only recommendation is that the rug underneath the bed needs to be changed, it was stained.

The place was kept clean, but it definitely shows its age. Staff are not always on site. A room change was mishandled, resulting in someone else having a working key for my room. they walked in while my wife was changing. That was corrected quickly, but it happened. This hotel is OK, but there are nicer places for similar money.

This was the first time that I had stayed at a hotel like this one. There was never anyone one working the desk. You are provided a code which will allow you to enter the hotel at the proper time and then again to enter your room. I arrived early and tried to enter but could not, and after a few unanswered phone calls I left for a while. Someone was monitoring because I soon received a text message explaining the policy. After coming back at the proper time, I had no issues getting in. At first glance the room was fairly nice with a decent bathroom, large walk-in closet and small kitchenette. However, I quickly noticed that the curtains were frayed, walls were chipped and paint was peeling. This is an older hotel so there are no elevators and all the rooms are on upper floors. Overall, it was a good location. Several options for food were in close proximity and there was a decent market right across the street. My biggest complaint was the lack of service. When I attempted to call about getting in early, the message stated that any issues regarding the stay would be addressed the next business day. They had dispenser of body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower and I ran out of body wash. I figured I would just leave a note on the cleaning cart about the situation, hoping it would be addressed quicker. The note was gone and the cart had been moved, but the dispenser was still empty that night. For myself, it was okay, but I probably will not return.

10/10 – would definitely stay here again! The hotel was easy to find, and the self check-in process was simple and hassle-free. The location was fantastic—just a short walk to great bars, restaurants (Sushi Mafia was a highlight!), and shops. Super easy to get around and explore the area.

Check in was easy and we were allowed to drop bags earlier since we had an early flight. Very accommodating and nice staff.

The code provided to enter the property was incorrect. We had problems contacting someone to assist us. The rest of our stay was very nice.

The hotel was lovely and very clean. Staf was remote, but very responsive.

Checkout was at 11 but our cruise boarding wasn’t until 1. Tracy (property manager) allowed us to store our luggage while we went and had brunch. Great staff on site also!

Spacious, clean, communicative, and responsive! A few restaurants in walking distance. Long Beach as a whole has a large unhoused population, so be prepared for possible interactions if you're walking around.

Very clean and quiet, I had a great stay. My first time visiting the area, was very happy with the neighborhood. I didn't rent a car so I was worried about getting around. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and public transportation was also nearby.

This place was so cute just like a mini apartment. The vibe was so esthetic. The only thing was there was no elevators but it only goes up to three floors. So not so bad.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Stayed pre-cruise, And it's very close to the cruise terminal and has the benefit of being centered to a bunch of restaurants as well as other activities in the general downtown area. Was very walkable to get to multiple things, which helps because parking is really non-existent. I was strongly suggest taking advantage of the parking pass, or paying for parking yourself if you drive. My room was more of an apartment than a room, not sure if all are that way but it had plenty of space. Full bedroom full living room with a dining room table and a kitchen, along with a bathroom with a tub which is always a plus for me now traveling.
