Amazing location close to downtown - we wanted a place to just relax and enjoy !! This place has great coffee, great seats to watch the sunset or sunrise, and fire pits to make s'mores!! We will be back !!

What a gem! We loved our stay at Mendo Bungalow. It’s charming, quiet, super clean & comfortable. The managers go the extra mile to make guests comfortable. Chairs on the lawn with a fantastic view, s’mores kits, water bottles in the room. Every thoughtful detail—so nice to settle in for the night in a place like this. Also very close to Mendocino—4 minute drive to restaurants, stores, coastal walks, etc.

Was like our own little vacation home without a kitchen (who wants to cook on vacation but still had mini fridge with freezer and microwave). Decorated nicely, comfy beds with especially cozy bedding, lots of phone charging options and great wi-fi. Nescafe for coffee. We especially enjoyed roasting marshmallows from the provided smores kits while watching the sunset over the ocean and then under the stars afterwards. Great for a family with teens.

It is an incredible new property. Definitely felt like we had our own little bungalow. They still have some kinks to work out. The hearing is a little pseudo fireplace that can’t be adjusted. There is also no fridge or microwave if you stay for more than a night. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to check out.

Mendo Bungalow was a stylish, comfortable, and memorable place to stay that made our Mendocino trip truly special. It’s a charming 16-room boutique property with a bungalow-style layout of cottage-like buildings. Our room was spacious and modern, with a bright bathroom featuring a window-side bathtub. The only drawback was the shower booth, which felt too small and a bit tricky to use. We appreciated thoughtful touches like the cozy electronic fireplace, Nespresso machine, microwave, fluffy towels, and a small deck with comfortable deck chairs. The grounds are peaceful and green, with picnic tables and outdoor seating, plus distant ocean views. Free parking and no minimum-night requirement were also big pluses.

Spent one night at the Mendo Bungalows. The unassuming building sits up on a hill with a nice break in the trees to view the ocean. But stepping into the actual bungalow was a real treat. Looked like it had just recently been built/renovated. Plenty of space, lots of plugs for devices, modern TV with streaming, ample shower, super comfy bed. You should be aware that the town of Mendocino is actually across Hwy 1 on the west side of the highway. It’s probably not advisable to try and walk across the highway to get into town. So you’ll need to drive into town for restaurants and hiking the bluffs. Also beware that currently (Aug 2025), there’s lots of roadwork on Hwy 1, so there might be delays. We were super lucky to get a sunny afternoon and the next morning we had clear blue skies; the fog remained offshore the whole time. Mendo Bungalows was a great place to stay, and I would consider it again on a future trip.

Renovated property just outside of Mendocino. Very friendly and helpful people at the front desk who were more than willing to accommodate our requests for extra coffee, towels etc. Property consists of a group of buildings each with 2-3 rooms; looks like most of the rooms have been recently renovated to high standards. Our room was very large but looked like it had the original bathroom. But it was very clean and nicely furnished. Internet was easy to connect too and quite fast (we measured about 50MPBS) and the TVs in the room look brand new. The property sits on a hill with a large grassy area in the front with a partial view of the ocean. Some rooms have patios but there are some public seating areas with Adirondack chairs and picnic tables and a nice fire pit. There are residential houses surrounding the property but it was very quiet and peaceful. Parking was ample and usually we could park right outside our room. At night there are lamps that light the driveway, but some of the lamps were broken so it was quite dark at one end. It’s a really nice peaceful location but note that even though town is only a couple of minutes drive, it really isn’t possible to walk into town safely because it would require crossing highway 1 which has no sidewalks.

Room was spotless and nice current decor. Melissa was at front office to greet us. One note: only a gas fireplace for heat, tho got a space heater from front desk and was nice and cozy for the night. Di not see any A/C though it doesn’t tend to get to hot in the summer. Beautiful grounds. Love they are Pet Friendly. Google please update site map to 2025!

Pros: - Very quiet hotel, beautiful property. Room was in a great location away from other rooms. Chairs placed throughout the property with beautiful views - my favorite spot was the one on the hill looking out at the ocean. -Large room with big tv, sink, fridge, microwave, and free water bottles. -dog friendly hotel Cons: -Bathroom dated and cramped. Mold on the ceilings, no fan. Hot water smelled like sulfur during showers, not pleasant. -Floor was not mopped well enough and turned our feet black -Of the two beds, the King mattress was noticeably harder and more uncomfortable than the smaller bed. -The property is dog friendly but there's a lot of burrs in the grass. We were pulling them out of our dog's paws after every walk. Although nature isn't a fault of the hotel, we would have loved to see a designated potty spot cleared free of burrs. Overall, we loved the peacefullness and the space, but the price point is hard to justify for a hotel without a few extra perks. Some additions like free breakfast and a designated dog relief area would help make it worth the cost. Would we stay here again? Maybe. Definitely falls in the middle.

Nice room, a little tight on space for the 4 of us + pooch. While the bed was comfy, Sleeping was a bit of a challenge because there were a few pillows that smelled of body oder and an overall humid / mildewy smell in the room through the night. A lot of light comes in through the plastic blinds. Complimentary S’mores were sweet and nespresso coffee was nice.

Front desk was very helpful. Convenient location, but not walkable to town. Room was large with a fridge and microwave.Big bathroom with separate tub and shower. Carpet was filthy. Overall the property was shabby. Everything could use more cleaning and more attention to detail.

The place is amazing and so is the front desk staff. It would have been perfect if the housekeepers were doing their job. We arrived in our room and the bed was made but the sheets were dirty, pet dander everywhere, hair in the comforter, even the pillow cases, it didn't smell like it was freshly washed. They didn't vacuum at all, I did the cleaning on my own, I wiped the floors cause it was dusty and pet dander was clearly on it. We stayed for two nights, we left in the morning and came back in the afternoon to find our room was again not cleaned, trash not collected, the complimentary water, coffee pods, creamer and sugar were not refilled for the next morning. Our stay was comfortable and pleasant, it's just that they need to do something with housekeeping.

Mendo Bungalow was a charming little stop on our road trip. It was cozy and clean. Loved that there was a fan in the room. We felt safe enough to leave the windows open. Very close to downtown area where there is amazing views and charming shops/restaurants.

Gorgeous stay minutes from the most picturesque beaches of Mendocino. The only reason I am not giving the immaculate, updated bungalow five stars instead of four is this: the bathroom door is a barn door that does not seal shut. Please help me understand this design flaw? Just get a door that shuts and locks. It will go perfectly with the beachside aesthetic. Also, if you’re going to provide liquid hand soap, please do not water it down. I find this to be inexcusable and just plain cheap, which is also inexcusable for what one pays per night at these bungalows. Other than those two errs, a very nice stay with Nespressos in each room for a morning wake up.

Great place in a convenient location (not far from town but far enough to be quiet). The listing doesn't specify that the rooms only have heat and no air, but due to the weather right there on the coast that's not usually an issue, and you can open windows for ventilation.

Overall this is a nice place to stay and beautiful view. There are a couple of things to consider/ stood out for us during our stay however. 1. Mini fridge is kind of loud, and everytime it cut on or off the light above it flashed - probably a circuit issue. 2. Having a lighted mirror is wonderful, except the light from the buttons when you are trying to sleep - they are pretty bright and no door to block it. 3. If you are staying next to the communal area, the string lights make it impossible to sleep due to the light coming into the room. The first night they didn't shut off, second night they were off - so it's unclear who manages that. 4. Got locked out of our room the second day due to their error in setting the checkout date for the access. Thank goodness we were back when someone was on duty otherwise I'm not sure what we would have done.
Overall this is a nice place to stay and beautiful view. There are a couple of things to consider/ stood out for us during our stay however. 1. If you are staying next to the communal area, the string lights make it impossible to sleep due to the light coming into the room. The first night they didn't shut off, second night they were off - so it's unclear who manages that. 4. Got locked out of our room the second day due to their error in setting the checkout date for the access. Thank goodness we were back when someone was on duty otherwise I'm not sure what we would have done.

Mendo Bungalow was a stylish, comfortable, and memorable place to stay that made our Mendocino trip truly special. It’s a charming 16-room boutique property with a bungalow-style layout of cottage-like buildings. Our room was spacious and modern, with a bright bathroom featuring a window-side bathtub. The only drawback was the shower booth, which felt too small and a bit tricky to use. We appreciated thoughtful touches like the cozy electronic fireplace, Nespresso machine, microwave, fluffy towels, and a small deck with comfortable deck chairs. The grounds are peaceful and green, with picnic tables and outdoor seating, plus distant ocean views. Free parking and no minimum-night requirement were also big pluses.

Spent one night at the Mendo Bungalows. The unassuming building sits up on a hill with a nice break in the trees to view the ocean. But stepping into the actual bungalow was a real treat. Looked like it had just recently been built/renovated. Plenty of space, lots of plugs for devices, modern TV with streaming, ample shower, super comfy bed. You should be aware that the town of Mendocino is actually across Hwy 1 on the west side of the highway. It’s probably not advisable to try and walk across the highway to get into town. So you’ll need to drive into town for restaurants and hiking the bluffs. Also beware that currently (Aug 2025), there’s lots of roadwork on Hwy 1, so there might be delays. We were super lucky to get a sunny afternoon and the next morning we had clear blue skies; the fog remained offshore the whole time. Mendo Bungalows was a great place to stay, and I would consider it again on a future trip.

The property and room were really nice! Maybe it was the particular room we stayed in and it was the only one which was available, but it was pretty compact. The shower didn’t have another door to close the door and water would come out. Very quiet and scenic, bed was super comfy too! Would stay again in another type of room in the future :)

Renovated property just outside of Mendocino. Very friendly and helpful people at the front desk who were more than willing to accommodate our requests for extra coffee, towels etc. Property consists of a group of buildings each with 2-3 rooms; looks like most of the rooms have been recently renovated to high standards. Our room was very large but looked like it had the original bathroom. But it was very clean and nicely furnished. Internet was easy to connect too and quite fast (we measured about 50MPBS) and the TVs in the room look brand new. The property sits on a hill with a large grassy area in the front with a partial view of the ocean. Some rooms have patios but there are some public seating areas with Adirondack chairs and picnic tables and a nice fire pit. There are residential houses surrounding the property but it was very quiet and peaceful. Parking was ample and usually we could park right outside our room. At night there are lamps that light the driveway, but some of the lamps were broken so it was quite dark at one end. It’s a really nice peaceful location but note that even though town is only a couple of minutes drive, it really isn’t possible to walk into town safely because it would require crossing highway 1 which has no sidewalks.

Literally the only thing I found “annoying” or less than ideal was figuring out how to lock the door with the key card/electronic lock system. But I quickly received help with this from staff within seconds. Otherwise, I have nothing to complain about and my stay was stellar. The location is safe and adjacent to many nice parts of Mendocino; the view of the sunset from the bungalows was beautiful as well. The staff was kind and welcoming, and offered some welcome wine and smores :) The room itself was very spacious, clean, comfortable (nice pillows and mattress), and all with a modern style. I’d definitely come back to stay here with family/friends on a repeat visit!

What a gem! We loved our stay at Mendo Bungalow. It’s charming, quiet, super clean & comfortable. The managers go the extra mile to make guests comfortable. Chairs on the lawn with a fantastic view, s’mores kits, water bottles in the room. Every thoughtful detail—so nice to settle in for the night in a place like this. Also very close to Mendocino—4 minute drive to restaurants, stores, coastal walks, etc.

It was great and cozy the only issue was the check-in. I booked through hotels.com and at the front desk they claimed my card had insufficient funds. I elected the pay at the property. It was a little embarrassing to have that happen.

The place is amazing and so is the front desk staff. It would have been perfect if the housekeepers were doing their job. We arrived in our room and the bed was made but the sheets were dirty, pet dander everywhere, hair in the comforter, even the pillow cases, it didn't smell like it was freshly washed. They didn't vacuum at all, I did the cleaning on my own, I wiped the floors cause it was dusty and pet dander was clearly on it. We stayed for two nights, we left in the morning and came back in the afternoon to find our room was again not cleaned, trash not collected, the complimentary water, coffee pods, creamer and sugar were not refilled for the next morning. Our stay was comfortable and pleasant, it's just that they need to do something with housekeeping.

Quiet and clean property, and quaint room we stayed in. Very spacious! Comfortable room and great outdoor areas to enjoy. Convenient location right off Hwy 1, and quick drive to downtown Mendocino down the Hwy.

The property is a little outside the town which actually adds to its its charm. You feel secluded but also pampered in the updated cabins/rooms that have every amenity you need. The outside fire pits and s'mores gives one a really good high end camp feeling as well. With the ocean visible in the distance, it's really a special place. Staff was gracious and helpful as.Highly recommended and we will absolutely revisit.

This is a unique and special place to stay. We are here with two children, it's a beautifully designed room with a double sink, 2 queen beds, a large shower. They even gave the kids smores kits when we checked in! There are views of the ocean and it's quiet. If you don't bring your own food you'll want to head to downtown Mendocino for meals, which is close by.

The redo on the rooms here were well done almost like having a bungalow. Very dog friendly and nice view of water although across the road from mendocino. No breakfast options or dining on site or walkable were my only drawbacks.
The redo on the rooms here were well done almost like having a bungalow. Very dog friendly and nice view of water although across the road from mendocino. No breakfast options or dining on site or walkable were my only drawbacks.

To be concise, Mendo Bungalow is like no other hotel I’ve stayed at. The property is comfortable, clean, and overlooks the water. The property provides you with a s‘mores care package upon arriving. The check-in process is easy and you feel welcomed immediately. The room was second to none! A beautiful view, a great bath tub, comfortable bed, and cozy atmosphere await you when you walk in the door. Seriously, if you’re in Mendocino or Fort Bragg, splurge and stay at this property!

It was a nested near the main part of Mendocino! It was quiet, clean and updated! Staff Steve was friendly and provided dining options! 15 min drive from Fort Bragg! Lovely open space as well

What a gem! We loved our stay at Mendo Bungalow. It’s charming, quiet, super clean & comfortable. The managers go the extra mile to make guests comfortable. Chairs on the lawn with a fantastic view, s’mores kits, water bottles in the room. Every thoughtful detail—so nice to settle in for the night in a place like this. Also very close to Mendocino—4 minute drive to restaurants, stores, coastal walks, etc.

The property is a little outside the town which actually adds to its its charm. You feel secluded but also pampered in the updated cabins/rooms that have every amenity you need. The outside fire pits and s'mores gives one a really good high end camp feeling as well. With the ocean visible in the distance, it's really a special place. Staff was gracious and helpful as.Highly recommended and we will absolutely revisit.

Our room was fine. Nothing fancy but clean and the bed was comfortable. I think I was a bit disappointed with the surrounding area. It looked greener and fresher in the photos. I liked the location into town. Just a couple of minutes. I would stay there again.

This was my first solo trip, and overall I had a great stay. I would have loved a room with a better view, but the room itself had everything I needed and was comfortable. One thing that surprised me was the room layout. I was under the impression that each room was its own private bungalow, but they're actually more like homes that have been divided into separate units with shared walls. Thankfully, my neighbors were very respectful, but I found myself worrying about making too much noise. I even wanted to take a bath late at night but decided against it because I didn't want the sound of running water to disturb anyone. My favorite features were the jacuzzi tub and the private deck with lounge chairs, which made it easy to relax. Check-in and check-out were also incredibly easy and hassle-free. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Knowing the room layout in advance would have helped set my expectations, but the amenities and easy check-in process made for a pleasant experience.
