Lovely historic property with character. Excellent communication with staff who were helpful and accommodating. The air conditioning is old, but fans were available. Unfortunately the coffee machine was not working, but there is excellent coffee at Little Gordon, the cafe at the property.

The staff were lovely. The room was adequate size. The place needs updating, but it was relatively clean. Good location, sometimes a bit loud but most people were respectful of 10pm curfew. No windows or natural light. The lift doesn't go to the basement. Overall I would give a 7.5 rating. Laundry facilities are scary and no iron. It was freezing but they gave me an extra heater which really helped. The cafe was very handy with great food.

My apartment was really grim. I arrived to find that other than putting out fresh bedding and towels the place had not been cleaned. The floor and worn carpet were covered in debris and tiny silver stars (someone must have had a party there before leaving), the shower had hairs in it, the microwave was disgusting, and surfaces were unwiped. I complained via email and housekeeping did a cursory clean the next day, but clearly nothing had been moved as there were still silver stars and debris on the floor. This place is in dire need of a deep clean and looks nothing like the photos on the website. I could not face using the kitchen and was out of the apartment as much as possible. The swimming pool looks amazing in the photos on Expedia. In truth it was dirty and unused. As an added bonus there is little to no soundproofing and noise can be heard throughout the night - waste trucks, noise from restaurants and bars, drilling…. We had to buy earplugs on our second day. Finally check-in was really hard. I received no email as you are meant to 24 hours prior to arrival. Apparently despite never having had issues before my email address was not passed to them by Expedia. Reception were very helpful when I emailed them, but surely even the act of arriving at your hotel should not cause stress? I have written to the manager at the hotel and sent photographs of the state of the apartment, but have received no reply.

Lovely apartment, good size with high ceilings and nice pool in a great location. Had a problem with the AC during my stay, but the team did their best to help fix that and provided fans as a short term solution.

Outstanding value for money. The location was amazing. The facilities were great, it was really good to have a washing machine too. We would definitely recommend this place.

Stunning historical building. Nice little on-site cafe.Clean. The actual suite was modern and clean, but a little cramped and the hanging space was taken up by cleaning equipment. And not a big fan of the digital check-in, which necessitated a number of calls to clarify entry and access to building.

Excellent location and beautiful building. 2 bedroom apartment was perfect for our family stay. Cafe is just lovely. Parking nearby was fine. Very convenient to public transport.

Liked that the apartments were only 3 stories high and had big sky light atrium roof . Palm trees and garden made it feel very unique and calming .

Property was absolutely gorgeous inside and our room was great. We loved this spot as it was is in short walking distance of trams and a lot of other attractions. Only thing to complain about is a lack of attention to detail in cleaning. Oven trays and inner oven was filthy and places like inside the fridge did not looked cleaned either. Obviously this isn’t the biggest deal in the world so we would definitely still recommend this place highly to a friend.

The apartment is in a unique building in a great spot. It had everything we needed with a kitchenette with nice touches like a coffee machine, milk, juice & chocolates. The bed was comfortable and the heater was efficient. The bathroom had a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The shower was good but was a little stained. We had some noise from the apartment above us in the morning (we believe this was from walking over a wooden floor). Overall we were impressed with this apartment and will book again.

i hated this place dirty dated Payed for 8 nigts checked out after 4 even after l payed for 8 . Bed was from 1927 l think no fresh linen towels for 8 days hot water run hot and cold could not sleep as light from outside kept me awake shinning under door put towel there to stop but then the window please dont stay here if you do your mad

Quit location. Extremely clean apartment. Great for family weekend stay. Giant tv , comfortable beds and couch. The building needs some TLC but don’t let that put you off staying in this beautiful old building

We stayed here for 4 nights. Great location. I felt the need to clean the shower when we arrived. This was after we needed to switch rooms because our first room was not cleaned properly either.

Quiet room with easy access and directions. Half full shower gel left in sink, chocolate wrappers in bed. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable.

The cobwebs? The strange bugs in the bedding, The dirty stained tiles, the property looked vastly different to the photographs online and during the booking process. Outdated key collection and entry information. Constant cigarette smoke smell from Other residents or rooms. Overall a 4/10 as the only good thing about this stay was the central location.

Really beautiful spot. Perfect location to see a musical at either theatre. And so many beautiful restaurants right there!! Perfectly clean and nice vibe in the apartment 😍

Great historic apartments, high ceilings, clean and quiet. The app to open main door and apartment door are fine once you get the hang of using it. Would stay again.

What I didn’t like, was the fact My accommodation room was located on the lowest floor where the outside drainage had issues. Resulting in triggering my Asthma due to the room being damp and wet.The room had a humidifier which indicated to me management knew about the problem. Gordon House Apartments have emailed me offering 3 days refund. I have sent an email to Wotif support requesting to organise the refund. Still waiting for a response.

Windows couldn't be opened in the bed rooms for fresh air, no air conditioning in bed rooms, ended up sleeping in the lounge room as it was the only room with an aircon.

While the location was great and overall we enjoyed our stay and it was great value, there are several things that need to be improved. There were no staff available and no map provided to our room, so we spent ages going around 3 floors of 2 different complexes to find out room. We also couldn't ask anyone if it was ok to leave our suitcase anywhere on the Sunday for a few hours. While the electronic key is convenient for "after hours" (6pm on a Friday) check in, it is inconvenient as I was constantly stressed that my phone would die and we would have no way of getting in. The toilet seat was not attached and the hot water took ages to kick in. The apartment was also tiny, the pictures are certainly not of the studio we got.

Once inside the property was amazing. I could not fault it. However, it took me and my daughter a while to get in the front door. This had no reception and we were a little stuck outside until I called for assistance over the phone. The entrance was a door into the cafe not the actual front entrance, the instructions sent via email was convoluted. I had to take my phone case off for the digital key to work. I suggest maybe a review on how your guests enter the property.

This is a great place in a really nice location. Not for everyone - it's an old building and the rooms are bespoke - it hasn't had the complete makeover that you see in most apartments, and it's rough on the edges, but is functional and funky. Seemed to have a lot of younger people staying. Big gripe though ... the check in and access is a f-ing nightmare! I don't know if they forgot to send me an email with instructions, but when you don't have reception you should at least answer your phone. Especially when I'm receiving texts asking me to call!! Called many times and not once did i get an answer. Online check-in form asks too many irrelevant questions and didn't want to accept my bank details even though the room was paid for in advance. After half a dozen attempts I gave up, and never heard anything about it again. The app required to access apartments seemed simple enough, but wasn't. Online video explainer showed entry through a door that you could not use, and the only access, through the Cafe, was more than weird, especially at night, in the dark! Thanks only to Cafe staff, I was eventually able to work it out and gain access. Do everyone a favour and answer your phone!!!!

I want to give the Gordon House Apartments a high rating, but I can't. Hotels.com booked us in a room that did not exist. The hotel scrambled to find us a space. Unfortunately it was a studio apartment right next to the café -- as in next to the window by the bed is a table a café. Noisy when the café was open from 7-3, but peaceful the rest of the time. While I appreciate them squeezing us in, and allowing us to check in early, the limited privacy was an issue. They do not have a front desk. I don't know what you do if the café is not open. As a non-Australian, we had issues communicating by phone (later learned they do use WhatsApp). I had to download an app in order to open the door to the apartment complex and to the room. My advice: great place, convenient to CBD, but do not book the studio!

I couldn't even get in to the accommodation, and had to book a hotel nearby as a result. Absolute disgrace. The worst accommodation experience I have ever had in over 40 years of travelling. I intent to the matter further

The apartment was well maintained, comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with all the pots, pans and utensils you could need. Communication was good, prompt friendly service. Location was great.

Had a great stay at The Gordon. Very reasonably priced and the whole place has a great vibe. Super close to China Town and the MCG. Would stay here again!

Appts great everything you could need and ideal location. Access on one phone was challenging for 3 guests, would prefer a physical card so everyone can come and go as they please.

We loved our stay at Gordon Apartments! The location is excellent for a long weekend away as you can get to the major attractions in the city via foot or tram. Only criticism is that the apartment could do with a bit of a refresh (paint, deep clean), otherwise would highly recommend.

It is old school and the building itself has a lot of character. The communication was excellent when we needed a couple of things sorted - it is a little noisy at night being right in the middle of Melbourne however nothing a set of earplugs didn’t sort - close to everything and we could walk everywhere so overall really cool little place!!

Accommodation is spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Surrounded by great restaurants and a short walk to the central shopping area in the city. Tip: book the restaurant of your choice before your trip as they are fully booked on the weekends. This is my new favorite apartment in Melbourne and I recommend it to anyone for business trips or family trips.

Absolutely loved our stay. Loved the building, the location and the cafe. Particularly loved the resident corgi at the cafe “Waddles”. Great place to stay near all the local amenities in the city. Definitely would stay again and wish we could’ve stayed longer - thank you to the friendly team for a great stay.

L'arrivée fût un peu confuse puisqu'il n'y a pas de réception physique dans l'établissement. Cependant la réception par téléphone et par email était extrêmement réactive et nous a beaucoup aidé. Si vous n'êtes pas d'Australie je vous recommande vivement de prendre une puce téléphonique dès votre arrivée pour avoir accès à internet, à la réception et à l'application. L'appartement était impeccable, très propre, la bâtisse elle même date du 19e siècle et est magnifique et très bien conservée. L'entrée est couplée avec le Petit Café qui y est attaché qui propose un menu petit déjeuner. Nous avions deux chambres avec grands lits très conforts, une côté rue et une côté cour, toutes les deux très calmes, même celle côté rue, malgré le passage extérieur. Les fenêtres calfeutrantes ont beaucoup aidé. Ceci dit si vous avez besoin de silence complet, préférez le côté cour. Une salle de bain avec douche, évier, serviettes, avec les petits savons et shampoings offerts. Les toilettes avec le petit sent-bon citronnée fourni. Le petit coin cuisine, pas de plaque chauffante ni de four mais un four micro-onde, mini frigo, couverts, évier et machine à café expresso avec les capsules offertes. Il y avait également du café soluble, du thé et des petits berlingots de laits fournis dans le frigo. La salle de séjour a un canapé deux place, un petit canapé une place, une table à manger et TV grand écran. Couplé avec l'emplacement en plein centre ville, nous avons passé un séjour magique !
