Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters - Montego Bay, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort - Adults Only

The hotel itself is nice but the experience was not. The highlight of my stay was the adult pool experience, the staff danced and entertained the swimmers. The electricity went out on the entire resort 4-5 times!! The Wi-Fi is absolutely terrible and some of the channels on the tv didn’t work. I can say that the staff were friendly. There are a good number of restaurants on the resort. Most of them were good, the Italian restaurant’s food was good, as well as Zen the hibachi was very good. The jerk chicken at the Jerk Hut was delicious. However, the food was cold at the buffet and the cakes weren’t fresh. There is 24-hour room service available and we were told that you can find the menu on the television, but we could not find it as it was not listed with the other restaurants. I was promised a ribbon on my door for my wife’s birthday, which we never received, also we were “upgraded” to an Oceanview room but all we saw were a bunch of trees! No ocean in sight. I would not stay here again. The resort has potential, but my experience was not what I expected.

We stayed at the hideaway section and it didn’t have enough options for the price point. We frequent the pool bar daily and the staff was friendly, attentive and polite. The only concern we had was that the pool deck wasn’t cleaned daily. The same dirt and debris was in the same place we left it day after day by the pool bar. Also, the AC in the gym didn’t work.

Resort was beautiful as well as the beach. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms were not large, but very nice, and clean. Don’t pay extra for an ocean view room though, as the trees , etc within the resort obscure a view of the ocean, so even though we paid for an ocean view, you couldn’t see it. Food was good, but one of the restaurants was permanently (Tex Mex) closed so one less dining option than advertised. Falmouth area didn’t seem safe, so we stayed within the resort the whole time. I would definitely go back again.

The staff providing the fitness and workouts were amazing. The entertainment staff did a nice job. There was always extra entertainment in addition to the main stage attraction. The sports bar was well run at night and the bartenders were very friendly. The food was very good. The resort itself is very pretty and well maintained. The beach was pretty. But the service was less than par. The pool bar at the ran out of beer the first day, water the second day, and ice the third day. Something was wrong with the beer taps every single day, which made things very slow. Certain bar tenders would just look away and refuse to serve you, while others continued to clean things that were already clean. Not certain if the bar tenders avoiding customers because they didnt know how to make drinks or just didn’t care. Multiple people complained throughout the resort. We eventually had a butler, Leo, that helped by making us dinner reservations and wine in our rooms. Leo worked hard to help, but it still didn’t solve the pool bar concerns. The buffet food was very good but once again the service was below average. We often had three staff members ask what we would like to drink, but didn’t always get what we ordered. Or it would take an extended amount of time to get coffee, orange juice, or tea. I have been to Jamaica multiple times. This was the worst pool bar service I have experienced at the Hideaway. I would not return unless they address the problems with service.

Spent 5 days and everyday we got to do different old and sides of the ocean. It’s actually two resorts one side adults on the other side for kids. We enjoyed every restaurant on the property and all the bars were fun. All the staff were great and accommodating. They really treat you well and that goes a long way. I will definitely comeback and recommend to others. Until next time!!!

The food was very good for a resort. They actually served Jamaican cuisines daily which I enjoyed. The pools and beachside were also nice and spacious. The elevators need maintenance, there were multiple days where they were out of service during our stay. There was also a day where the power and water was shut off for several hours which was very inconvenient and unfortunately it stormed during that timeframe as well. Not sure what the cause of the outage was, but an announcement was made prior, so this appeared to be a scheduled thing.

No entertaining, shared buffet with families. Buffet only option in the morning, crowded, no AC.No service elevator. Got a room that connect to another noisy one. Thin walls, we could hear them all the time.

We visited for our wedding anniversary and it was just what we needed - a quiet getaway that allowed us to get great rest and meaningful time together. While there were activities available every day, they did not interfere with our alone time as the property was large enough. Toni-Ann at Scoops provided memorable service and we went back daily just to interact with her. The buffet was expansive and the food was tasty. Room service being available 24/7 was a huge benefit since we mostly stayed in. Overall, we had a great experience and left refreshed. It is evident that they continue to work towards improving the experiences of guests and that great to see!

Customer Service was very basic. Not the customer service I'm used to at a resort. The room was not cleaned properly, I found a headband behind the toilet and a weed grinder in one of the drawers.

Our room need repairs the door panel was coming apart anyone could have just kicked in the door and got in the room plus the shower knob was coming off each time we took a shower the repair man was called but he did not fix what was broken. In addition, we encountered a roach in the buffet dining. It was reported to management

The room was not clean nor up to par. The floor had cracks in the cement and dirt residue buildup in between the tiles. The shower’s nob kept falling off. The room also had small insects crawling in corners/counters. Mosquitoes flying around the room in which I mostly got rid of using my OFF spray. The staff on our floor, 500 level, (we stayed in room 536) was racist and made a comment mentioning “why don’t I just go to KFC, don’t I like and rather that type of food” because I was a Black African American, they assumed I wanted fried chicken. I should have reported the young woman who mentioned that to me. It was three young ladies sitting at the desk when you first get off the elevator on the 500 level. They were all laughing at me as if it was funny but it was rather humiliating. All I asked them for was a microwave in which they all looked at each other as if they were lying and proceeded to make that comment and say no. This incident took place on 9/18 at around 2-2:30pm. The pool side/ beach scenery was very nice. The excursions and tour guide was very nice. The waiters at the restaurants did not provide warm and welcoming service. Most restaurants we wanted to book in advance were not available which was also frustrating. Overall, we did not enjoy our experience in Jamaica at the resort and most likely will never be returning.

The resort is dirty especially the buffet dining room with cockroaches crawling around in the walls and tables. Public restrooms are dirty. The staff needs more training. Very poor attitude and took a long time to respond to requests. The Royalton Montego Bay is awful. We have stayed in Royalton Punta Cana and it was excellent. The only good staff was Joan Jackson, at Grazie Tratorria. She is amazing and has great attitude and service. Everyone else acts like they are not happy working there. Customer service needs to improve. Food needs to improve. Cleanliness should be a priority.

This was the worst resort experience we’ve ever had. While the amenities were already underwhelming, the real issue was the shockingly poor service and rude staff. Our room had a termite nest. Oceanview had no view the ocean. The front desk was impossible to reach by phone - calls went unanswered, and when we went down in person, we saw the phones were simply left on silent and blinking. We had two serious issues during our stay: 1. Medical Help: We needed Tylenol urgently but were passed around from department to department for over three hours without ever seeing the nurse. Calls repeatedly dropped or were transferred aimlessly. We never got the Tylenol - for a senior guest who badly needed it. 2. Room Problem: Our ceiling was leaking and lights on that wall flickering, and again, after 2.5 hours of waiting and calling, nothing happened even after we were told that maintenance will be coming in 15 mins. We had to go down to reception twice. On our way, we noticed that the room underneath us had broken concrete (possibly the same leak). The first time, the staff literally walked away. The second time, we had to approach from two different directions just to get someone’s attention. Eventually, we were moved but to a room. The only redeeming aspects were the beautiful beach and the kind housekeeping staff. Otherwise, this was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing stay. Would not return and really regretting not listening to the countless reviews that warned us.

I have rated this resort very low because of my experience at other resorts in Jamaica and I can say by far this is very low on my list. The food is terrible. Our room was dirty. There were items left from the previous people who stayed in the room. Majority of the staff is very unhappy and had attitudes. Almost all of the furniture and the equipment inside the resort is very old and dirty. There is not much to do at the resort. The entertainment is very low their sports bar that does turn into a club, service there is terrible and every night they mop the floor with an old vinegar dirty mop, so it smelled every night. There are random cats and dogs walking around Eating the food that’s left over from room service and in your ice cream and in your drinks and there’s also rats.

During our stay, there was a water issue where half of the resort couldn't flush toilets or take showers. When checking in I made notes on double beds, as well as sent two messages prior to our arrival that went unread or ignored. Once they switched our rooms, we still ended up being placed in a one-bed setup, but we ended up separating them ourselves. Several times during the stay calling the front desk, we didn't get anyone to answer. Also, when there were plumbing issues they said they would send someone and they never came. Several areas need support in this resort. A check and balance system as well as better training for staff to ensure they are treating all resort guests equally. Rooms should be stocked the same and the cleanliness of the bathrooms(showers) and rooms (sheets) need some attention. Placing a sign outside of the door for servicing was ignored on two occasions even after speaking to the staff member. Food areas should be properly set the same and shouldn't have a major delay before the area is cleaned for the next set of guests. We did experience a few servers that were great (Calypso~Lauren or LeeAnn). Other than that, the facility was decent.

My time spent at the Royalton Hotel was exceedingly disappointing and left much to be desired. Upon check-in, my husband and I were allocated a room that was in a rather dilapidated condition, much to our dismay. The surfaces were marred with countless fingerprints, the remnants of previous guests left behind without a care for cleanliness. As we navigated the space, we were shocked to discover broken glass scattered across the floor, a hazardous situation that made us question the overall hygiene and safety standards of the establishment. The mini bar, rather than being a source of refreshment and relaxation, only added to our sense of disappointment. Several cans were found open, their contents exposed to the elements, hardly an inviting sight for two weary travelers seeking solace in the comfort of their room. Furthermore, the air conditioner, a basic amenity necessary for ensuring a comfortable stay, was out of order and failed to provide any relief from the stifling heat that permeated the room. Upon reporting these glaring issues to the hotel staff, we expressed our sincere wish to be transferred to alternative accommodations that were in better condition. However, to our dismay, we were met with a disheartening response - the hotel claimed that there were no other rooms available for us to move to. This lack of flexibility and willingness to address our concerns only served to compound our already negative experience, leaving us feeling abandoned and disheartened. I

There was blood on the sheets, there was a bad leak from bathroom and ac unit. The leak was in from of door as I walked in I slipped and fell. I let guest service know and the downgraded our room in the middle of the night. I was speaking to the night manager letting him know how inconvenient it was and hung up the phone

This is my third time at the resort and it’s the worst experience i’ve had so far. The check in process was extremely slow even though there wasn’t alot of people at the time. We finally got to our room and everything was nice and clean except for the bathroom, the toilet had tissue in it and the shower wasn’t clean. Moving over to the restaurants there was limited options available with the fact that every restaurant now needed a reservation besides the buffet and everything else was fully booked but thanks to a wonderful staff, Olivia, she assisted us with our dining experience and she was wonderful. Alex and Yanique also did a terrific job with making our dinner dining experience worthwhile. The bartenders at the swim up pool bars are terrible, they stare dead in your face and still ignore you when you try to place a drink order. After yelling and waving for a while that’s when they decide to take your order as if you are begging them. I usually tip but if i have to tip after every drink in order to get service, i’m not going to do that. Overall the property was lovely but the service needs improvement.

The rooms were very small with twin beds.

We was placed looking at the back of the buildings where the workers was entering not a good view at all plus room wasn't cleaned properly in the buffet restaurant the workers were mean not friendly ladies at front desk looking mad and acted like they didn't want us there

Me and my boyfriend had a great time. No water pressure issues or ac issues like some of the bad reviews on Google say. The rooms are a little small but good enough for two people. We got an ocean view room and it was beautiful. The food at the buffet was good. We didn’t go to any of the restaurants. The jerk hut was good and convenient as well. Lazy River and slides were a blast. It’s adults only but you will see some kids in the buffets but not in the adult only pool. They could use more entertainment at night too but I would consider coming back. It’s a chill resort with a little bit of turn up.

The Good - Room key as a wrist band is genius! - Fitness staff (Lanarcha, Kadija, Whitney, Travis); the variety of fitness classes available, and the gym. - Shelly Ann in the Grazie restaurant, and Samantha on reception. - Spa treatment. - Well-kept beach; the hotel is also clean and well-kept. Do Better -The check-in experience was the worst we've ever had. -Appalled by the use of disposable plastic cups; not just at the beach/poolside, but also in the restaurants at dinner. -Without exception, the hotel ran out of basic food and drink items every day which is unacceptable for a supposed 5* resort. -Catering for specified dietary requirements is poor (but shout-out to Shelly Ann; she went above and beyond at breakfast after I expressed concerns). By chance we spoke at length with Mario, F&B Manager, who promised to look into things but disappointed to have no follow-up from him at all. -Staff need better training to deal with dietary needs; there was a lack of understanding, and many were far too blasé especially in Gourmet Marche (the buffet restaurant) -We were told that cushions for the beach chairs were 'first come, first served'...seriously, in a supposed 5* hotel! Our 'do better' issues were not unique...others had similar experience (and some cases, worse). We raised all these while we were there, but it all fell on deaf ears (apart from Shelly-Ann). We made the most of our stay, but would not return to Hideaway, or go to another Royalton resort.

Resort teied to out me in a weird room in a back corner that was not upgraded nor looked like the advertisements. The room was half the size of the regular rooms. I complained to the front office and the lady quickly allowed me to checm a new room and move in. When i firsg areived at 245 my rokm was not ready was told to come back at 3. Came back at 315 and was told my rok. Was not ready but a note was on my account to just assign me to a new room. This is how i eneded up in a less than satisfactory room. Food was decent. However at the habachi spot a huge concern for me was cross contamination. The chef put raw chicken on the grull right next to cooked rice and veggies. He then proceeded to use the same utensils on both the cooked rice and raw chicken. This is a huge no-no. Luckily no one from my group got sick. But please conduct a new healthy and safety class for all your kitchen personnel before this becomes the norm.

The property is very nice. A lot of the staff were friendly but there is limited staff as it is such a large resort. Celebrating our honeymoon and selected adults only, wasn’t expecting kids to be everywhere. Dinning Selection is limited due to the app you have to download and put in your room information once you arrive for any reservation. Over all it was very nice with always activity to do on or near side the resort.

We recently stayed at Royalton for my best friends wedding! Overall… it was enjoyable! Stephen at the inside lobby bar on the hideaway side was fantastic. By the pool, Nadine made sure to take care of us when we saw her. Most of the time we had to get our own drinks - but a couple of the days the pool service was good. They should have more lunch options - mostly everything opens at 1230 for lunch which is late in my opinion.. The entertainment staff - very fun and energetic. Every night, something fun going on! The cons for me were it was impossible to get a dinner reservation, and the resort did not seem packed. Out of five days, we were only able to secure two reservations. Also, a lot of the staff did not seem very happy/welcoming.. We’re Mexico people - I feel they are just so nice. Hospitality is important to me. This location could work on that with the staff. Pool temps were fantastic and the views were beautiful. Calypso was fantastic. The welcome party for the bride and groom was perfection. All of the food was delicious and so many options!

Our Overall Rating 6/10 I came here hyped for some real Jamaican vibes, and honestly… the beach and property delivered, but the food and service left me shook and very disappointed. Pros: • Beach: Beautiful. Sandy, swimmable, straight up paradise. • Score’s DJ: Talented and dope—club nights were lit. • Property Grounds: Gorgeous layout, lush landscaping, perfect for strolling. • Rooms: Modern and comfy, though the paintwork could use some love. Cons: • Food: Terrible. Not authentic Jamaican at all. As a Yardie, this was my biggest letdown. Jerk hut, breakfast, Dorado—none of it hit right. How do you mess up bully beef or porridge?!?! • Staff: Hit or miss. Anthony and Akean (butlers) and Sean (the bartender) were top-notch, personable, and helpful. But some staff looked like they wanted to be anywhere else. Case in point: I asked for towels, and one staffer just stared and when I asked how are you, she said, “I’m tired.” Like… really? Bottom line: If you want a stunning beach, a great DJ, and chill grounds, this place is decent. But don’t go expecting real Jamaican food or warm hospitality—those are major misses 6 out of 10

Checking in - the line wasn't long however it took an hour to check in and get to my room. Dining - there are 11 restaurants on the property but not all are opened daily and its limited availability for reservation, i was only able to reserve one restaurants and the food was undesirable. The buffet had limited daily choices. Room mini bar did not include alcohol and the drinks at all the bars were watered down. Activities- therr is nothing to do at hideway, it is truly just room, and bars. The only saving grace for this hotel is that most of the bar staff is friendly and made the experience worthy. I wont visit the establishment again

⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️☆★ (3/5) The property has a lot of potential, but there were some major drawbacks during our stay. Check-in was very slow — we eventually had to ask the agents to speed things up by simply collecting IDs from each guest in line. The staff also seemed a bit disorganized, with different employees giving different answers to the same questions. By early evening (around 5 pm), a strong sewer smell spread across the property, which made the atmosphere unpleasant and hard to ignore. On the positive side, the food was excellent and the white sand beach was beautiful. Special mention must go to Sharlene from Guest Services, who went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. Her attentiveness and professionalism really stood out and made a difference in our experience. Overall a good property.

Some of the staff were inattentive. Room service was extremely slow. I had to wait2 hours for my room service to be delivered to my room even though I ordered it just as they opened at 6 am. Front desk and operator lines were not being answered, resulting in having to walk downstairs to get service and attention. My request for laundry service was not fulfilled in a timely manner. The staff had very limited information when asked questions about anything. My room lost electricity as a result of a power outage and I was left without lights and air conditioning for 2 hours.. I had to repeatedly go downstairs to the front desk and finally requested to speak to manager which I had to wait for about 20 mins just to see.. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone especially this visiting Jamaica for the first times. It did not reflect the hospitality I expected

Location near Glistening Waters...not far from Dunns River and Ochi/Fern Gully made it an Amazing central point. The Trip to the Airport was stress free from there.

This property has a false advertisement as far as the adult and kids side being separate. It’s not located in Montego Bay but actually located in Trelawny(45 min from aiaprort) I had multiple issues with my room. My first room had no AC, had to sleep with no air the first night. The second room, the electricity didn’t work and the door was broken. They fixed the issues but they weren’t in a hurry to fix my issues. The food was a 5/10. The resort itself is very beautiful and very clean. It’s nice for a couple’s vacation but I was on a girls trip and didn’t have the best experience. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great

The service at the Hideaway was amazing! Tameka is by the pool, Levon the bartender at the bar by the steakhouse and the front desk people were great. The resort was closed for a bit and underwent construction. The grounds were really nice and the rooms updated, but a bit small. If you get a double occupancy room with two beds, the beds are twin size. The resort is adjacent the Royalton Blue Waters. We were able to use their facilities but they couldn't come over to ours, which was nice because it kept the kids out. The specialty restaurants were good, the steakhouse and the seafood restaurant were the best. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was good and had a variety of foods but they had trouble keeping up with the demand. The tex-mex restaurant was terrible and you have to get up early to wait in line to make a reservation for the hibachi restaurant. The beach was gorgeous but you had to get there early to get a good chair. There were always chairs available by the pool and the mid-day games and dancing was awesome and entertaining. The foam party was silly because it started late and ended early and they cut the music. This wasn't ideal and the mood crashed fast as soon as they cut the music. This resort is only 30 mins from the airport which was very convenient.

The hotel was okay. I was not impressed by anything during my trip except for my wonderful bartenders who took care of my group and I almost every night. Thank you specifically to - Raymond, David, and Kesreene for making our trip so much better. My group and I are so happy to have met you three and can't thank you enough for your generosity. The food was terrible and when you did like something they were "limited" and you are unable to get more. You can't take food to-go during the lunch buffet which kind of defeats the purpose of a lunch buffet.... Also, not sure what they expect you to eat during the hours of 10:30-12:30 while they are preparing for lunch or from 3:30-6:30 while they are preparing for dinner. If you plan on sleeping in, you will have to sacrifice missing breakfast. The jerk hut was always out of something, whether that was sauce, rice, or chicken and chicken did not have any moisture it was like you were going to choke before you finished your meal. Some staff was very helpful and others were not interested in your reason for being there. The pool was very nice, but the service around the pool was hard to find. You either had to ask someone or they would never come up to you, which they were going up to other larger groups so I didn't see what made our group so different. Taj and Zen are my top two restaurants, did not care for any of the others -- food was very bland and staff was rude. Overall, I will not be returning to this hotel.

Also, a lot of the staff did not seem very happy/welcoming.. We’re Mexico people - I feel they are just so nice. Hospitality is important to me. This location could work on that with the staff. Pool temps were fantastic and the views were beautiful. Calypso was fantastic. The welcome party for the bride and groom was perfection. All of the food was delicious and so many options!

Our Overall Rating 6/10 I came here hyped for some real Jamaican vibes, and honestly… the beach and property delivered, but the food and service left me shook and very disappointed. Pros: • Beach: Beautiful. Sandy, swimmable, straight up paradise. • Score’s DJ: Talented and dope—club nights were lit. • Property Grounds: Gorgeous layout, lush landscaping, perfect for strolling. • Rooms: Modern and comfy, though the paintwork could use some love. Cons: • Food: Terrible. Not authentic Jamaican at all. As a Yardie, this was my biggest letdown. Jerk hut, breakfast, Dorado—none of it hit right. How do you mess up bully beef or porridge?!?! • Staff: Hit or miss. Anthony and Akean (butlers) and Sean (the bartender) were top-notch, personable, and helpful. But some staff looked like they wanted to be anywhere else. Case in point: I asked for towels, and one staffer just stared and when I asked how are you, she said, “I’m tired.” Like… really? Bottom line: If you want a stunning beach, a great DJ, and chill grounds, this place is decent. But don’t go expecting real Jamaican food or warm hospitality—those are major misses 6 out of 10

Resort teied to out me in a weird room in a back corner that was not upgraded nor looked like the advertisements. The room was half the size of the regular rooms. I complained to the front office and the lady quickly allowed me to checm a new room and move in. When i firsg areived at 245 my rokm was not ready was told to come back at 3. Came back at 315 and was told my rok. Was not ready but a note was on my account to just assign me to a new room. This is how i eneded up in a less than satisfactory room. Food was decent. However at the habachi spot a huge concern for me was cross contamination. The chef put raw chicken on the grull right next to cooked rice and veggies. He then proceeded to use the same utensils on both the cooked rice and raw chicken. This is a huge no-no. Luckily no one from my group got sick. But please conduct a new healthy and safety class for all your kitchen personnel before this becomes the norm.

The food, the food, the food reminded me of a school cafeteria or TV dinner. The best meal we had was at the hibachi and Italian food. The bar tenders were friendly, a few were angry that they had to work. Overall, I had a good trip, but I wouldn't visit this resort again.

Place was nice staff was ok. Food was delicious at the buffet. Steak house ran out of steaks. Very hard to make reservations for dinner. We were celebrating our anniversary and they didn’t have our room decorated like promised. They never gave us champagne or wine like they told us they would.

The food was very good for a resort. They actually served Jamaican cuisines daily which I enjoyed. The pools and beachside were also nice and spacious. The elevators need maintenance, there were multiple days where they were out of service during our stay. There was also a day where the power and water was shut off for several hours which was very inconvenient and unfortunately it stormed during that timeframe as well. Not sure what the cause of the outage was, but an announcement was made prior, so this appeared to be a scheduled thing.

I would never again pay the money I did to stay at this resort. The service is terrible, the food is bland and half of the time the plate was hot while the food was lukewarm. I can say there were a handful of staff who made our stay enjoyable including Raymond, Dominique, Kesreene, and David. Good luck if you miss breakfast - from 10:30 to 12:30 there are no food options as well as from 3 to 6 when the restaurants are transitioning to from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The cafe only had ice cream the first day of our staff and after that it was never restocked. The buffet doesn’t let you take food out. Restaurant service is slow. Expect to wait over an hour for food and they will probably tell you they ran out of butter and dessert like they told us. The pool and beach was nice. Clean (surprisingly).

Checking in - the line wasn't long however it took an hour to check in and get to my room. Dining - there are 11 restaurants on the property but not all are opened daily and its limited availability for reservation, i was only able to reserve one restaurants and the food was undesirable. The buffet had limited daily choices. Room mini bar did not include alcohol and the drinks at all the bars were watered down. Activities- therr is nothing to do at hideway, it is truly just room, and bars. The only saving grace for this hotel is that most of the bar staff is friendly and made the experience worthy. I wont visit the establishment again

Everything was great! The breakfast buffet is the best food you’re going to get IMO so don’t have high expectations for the other restaurants. Keep in mind they are feeding hundreds and hundreds of guests. I’m still going back !
