We booked in the cabins/villas and our room overlooked the Arenal volcano! The room was MASSIVE, very clean, modern bathroom, and the bed was comfortable. If you are going to either Arenal and/or La Fortuna, stay HERE. There are regular rooms in the hotel building, but the extra bit for the cabin was the best. The free breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and cooked to order. The WiFi worked well. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke enough English to do the job. Shout out to Restaurant 1 block away - Raul Castano - fabulous dinner also facing the volcano.

I chose this hotel for the view, pool & surrounding area. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a closet or anywhere to hang your clothes, not even a hook in the bathroom. This became a huge problem because it poured rain the whole time we were there so our clothes were wet. Also, the day we arrived I went to get pool towels from the office & walked down the hill to the pool only to find it drained & the 4 lounge chairs locked up. Why didn’t the employee tell me that? The employees were all very nice but there seemed to be a lack of communication going on between them. Lastly, if the Lidge does not have at least 4 rooms booked, you cannot eat breakfast there. You have to walk down the hill to their restaurant across the pond. It’s a guessing game each day where you will be eating breakfast.

The address is confusing since it is to the next door property but we eventually found the place it. It is nice please, 10 to 45 minutes drive to any thing you need, easy parking. Nice and friendly staff. Breakfast was good enough.

View was excellent!!! The property was beautiful. Pool was closed but we weren't told that, so we hiked over there and had to hike back. Otherwise it was a great time

Valuable items stolen from Room 20! Note that this hotel does NOT provide any locker box or in room safes. We started off nice in a pleasant location. The next day when we returned from sightseeing highly valuable and hard to replace items had been stolen from our suitcase! Housekeeping and maintenance — to fix leaking toilet - had been in the room while we were away. When we called the police to report this the hotel receptionist came in and kept telling us we must have lost the items since we had no “proof” that theft occurred! He said it was our word against his! That made a bad experience horrible. And because of this episode we checked out a day earlier than planned and requested hotel manager to refund at least the one night. No response!!

The staff was very hospitable and kind. I had a difficult stay in my bungalow because there were so many ants. Geckos would poop and ants would come and it was a huge ongoing problem. The bungalows are very rustic. It’s freezing at night event in the high 60’s because there is nothing between you and the forest except some wood paneling. When it rained it leaked through the roof. It wasn’t the most comfortable stay. The cycaidas were so loud and the geckos chirps….its definitely for a certain type of person and that person wasn’t me.

Lots of value for the cost!!! Super clean, spacious, and comfortable cabins. They have an amazing view of the volcano from the big windows. All the staff was super attentive and kind. We paid almost four times as much for a hotel room that wasn’t as nice before coming here. We wish we would’ve found them sooner! We will highly recommend them to friends and family.

We were there 3 nights and several times we requested the room to be cleaned and it never was, which is especially important due to the requirement to put toilet paper in the bin. Our toilet was not working properly and they never fixed it. The walls are very thin and neighbors and the road were noisy.

We had high hopes for our stay at Arenal Roca Lodge, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and concerning from the moment we arrived. Within just two hours of checking in, our room was overtaken by a swarm of large flying ants, especially in the bathroom, rendering it completely unusable. We initially tried to remain optimistic despite spotting lizards and other bugs in the room. However, the situation became unacceptable when one of us was bitten by a gecko. We reported the issue to the front desk right away, and a maintenance worker was sent to remove a large number of insects—confirming just how uninhabitable the room had become. We felt unsafe and extremely uncomfortable, and ultimately had to leave and find alternative accommodations that same night, paying out of pocket. The conditions were clearly unsuitable for guests, and we’ve since requested a full refund directly from the property. This was a deeply disappointing experience, and we hope the lodge takes serious steps to improve the safety and cleanliness of their rooms going forward.

Very basic room which had seen better days. Nowhere to hang anything - a problem when it is wet! Good shower and comfortable beds. Breakfast was ok and staff were helpful. Great location to get around the Arenal volcano area and get into La Fortuna town.

It’s a good size, but the room is quite rustic. Just wooden exterior walls and our cabin was close to the highway, which was very loud all night, especially when trucks with engine brakes on went by. There was no bar or hand soap, so we needed to use body wash to wash hands, also we had no hot water due to an issue with our hot water tank.

Good, spatial rooms with view of the volcano. Everything was clean. Breakfast was good but only three meal options: fruit or eggs & toast or traditional ie. Rice and beans etc. The receptionist was not always around (they split their time across two sites). Helpful when present. Don’t be put off by the dated building, the rooms exceed expectations.

My rating is this low only because I cannot select zero stars. I booked two rooms and a theft occurred in our room while staying in the Lodge. Someone, with a key, went in while we were out, opened a suitcase and stole jewelry. We spoke with another guest and the same thing happened to his wife at approximately the same time. We both complained to the manager and she said to "file a police report" before they would investigate. We both did and the police came and questioned the manager. She denied the theft even occurred. Our follow up with her received a blatant denial and refusal to even question her housekeeping staff. If you value your security and safety, I caution you to think again before staying at the Arenal Roca Lodge & Bungalows.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was above and beyond (atleast Blaz and Nazareth) Super pleasant, helpful and quick. The view of the Arenal Volcano was breathtaking from my room. Excursions were less than 15 minutes away. Cute little ducks be sitting outside the restaurant/lobby everyday.

Rice and beans etc. The receptionist was not always around (they split their time across two sites). Helpful when present. Don’t be put off by the dated building, the rooms exceed expectations.

Views of the volcano were great. In general the hotel is a bit tired and in need of refurbishing e.g clean enough but needs redecorating and updating. Staff are friendly, but breakfast was served very slowly. It felt budget and would have been ok for a single night. We decided to check out early and switch to a more resort style hotel with proper pools and restaurant nearby.

We made a reservation at 9:45 pm and didn't get to the hotel until a little after midnight. When we arrived, all of the lights were off. We called, but nobody answered the phone. We didn't stay at the hotel and had to find another one. When I reached out to request a refund, I was denied.

Everything was excellent during our stay. Staff is really nice, the maintenance guy help me with a flat tire fixing with his own kit (he saved us). Area is really well positioned for Arenal Volcano park and good food options around.

This place is a good place to stay near lots of La Fortuna’s activities. You will need a car to go to the hot springs, hikes, birdwatching, etc. it is very convenient to go to Místico Park. The real plus was our host, Isaac. Just a very competent, agreeable and accommodating individual. Though the place is mainly basic accommodations with a good breakfast, Isaac is just top notch. Got great directions we needed with his knowledge of the area. Just an all around pleasant person to have met.

Great option, with amazing views of the Arenal Volcano, and with easy access (by car) to both the National Park, the town of La Fortuna, and all other attractions in the area. The address is confusing since it is to the next door property but we eventually found the place it. It is nice please, 10 to 45 minutes drive to any thing you need, easy parking. Nice and friendly staff. Breakfast was good enough.

We booked in the cabins/villas and our room overlooked the Arenal volcano! The room was MASSIVE, very clean, modern bathroom, and the bed was comfortable. If you are going to either Arenal and/or La Fortuna, stay HERE. There are regular rooms in the hotel building, but the extra bit for the cabin was the best. The free breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and cooked to order. The WiFi worked well. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke enough English to do the job. Shout out to Restaurant 1 block away - Raul Castano - fabulous dinner also facing the volcano.

I chose this hotel for the view, pool & surrounding area. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a closet or anywhere to hang your clothes, not even a hook in the bathroom. This became a huge problem because it poured rain the whole time we were there so our clothes were wet. Also, the day we arrived I went to get pool towels from the office & walked down the hill to the pool only to find it drained & the 4 lounge chairs locked up. Why didn’t the employee tell me that? The employees were all very nice but there seemed to be a lack of communication going on between them. Lastly, if the Lidge does not have at least 4 rooms booked, you cannot eat breakfast there. You have to walk down the hill to their restaurant across the pond. It’s a guessing game each day where you will be eating breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed 4 nights, and our stay was so peaceful and beautiful with a view of the volcano! We had an issue with bugs in our room, I assume this was due to a small crack in the wood boards of the walls. The staff is so friendly, and they were so helpful and explained the area too. My only other complaint was that they ask you what time you want to have breakfast each day, but you have to check in and then wait 15 minutes for them to get it to you, so just be prepared to wait a bit. Overall we loved it and would stay here again!

What a wonderful experience! We stayed in a deluxe bungalow that had full view of the Arenal Volcano. It was clean, the staff went above & beyond to assist with any questions we had with our room, tv etc... and it was very clean. It is rustic, cabin like feel for sure, not modern - however, it was what I expected with the amazing price we received. The only reason I gave 1 less star for the breakfast is because we had to choose a breakfast from 3 options. I didn't realize that my local cuisine breakfast I chose didn't come with toast so I asked for an order of toast and the kitchen staff charged me $4 USD for 2 pieces of toast. I thought that was asking a bit much for toast.
