Note there is an apartment above this unit and one beside. It is a self catering unit so you will need to bring everything you need. Some things in the online photos are missing, ie. fireplace, some lounge furniture, patio umbrella and decor, nespreso coffee maker, and shower/bath products. Other items that I read about online before booking, and were not available were an outdoor bbq/grill, a welcome package and king size bed. The bedroom is lovely, but the bed is a north american queen. Twice the hot water did not work, but the host did have it fixed promptly. My biggest complaint relates to cleanliness both in the unit, and the outdoor space which we planned to use. I did complain upon arrival, and the host did offer to have it redone, but I deferred as I did not want to interrupt my holiday by moving my stuff and waiting for cleaners. The host did communicate promptly but when I asked for a refund for the last day due to the above issues, I did not receive a direct yes, or no, nor an admission that these issues had occurred, so we checked out at the appropriate 10am, one day early and lost that payment. Of note, there was another suggestion to have the cleaning folks come in again, which at our 5 days, what would that accomplish? And no response at all regarding our refund. This cottage has so many good qualities, and is in a perfect spot, but it needs a good scrub, somewhere to put your luggage other than the floor, and at least some coffee when you arrive.

The apartment is lovely and the attention to detail is excellent. Very well equipped and the decor is wonderful. The bathroom has a fantastic shower over a big claw foot bath. You need to take a big step over to get into the bath though with no grab rail so you need to be careful getting in and out if you have a dodgy knee like me. The apartment is perfectly situated exactly 1 minute walk from the Noel Arms pub and the High Street, which has plenty of teashops, cafes, shops, restaurants and pubs. The Noel Arms serves nice food as does the Eight Bells down the road. We also had a lovely lunch in the Bantam Tearooms and an evening meal in Michael's Mediterranean. It's a small restaurant so you need to book. As we have free OAP bus passes we used the local Stagecoach and Pulham buses to get about - Moreton in the Marsh, Stow in the Wold, Bourton on the Water and Broadway. The bus stops are outside the Noel Arms so it was very easy. There's just a couple of things that prevented an 'Excellent' rating. The bed isn't very comfortable as it sinks slightly in the middle which meant we kept waking up when we felt we were tilting into the middle. Also, although it was great to have an allocated parking space it can be very difficult to manoeuvre a large car which we have, if the other 2 allocated spaces have cars parked there. The entrance to the parking area is through a narrow mews entrance into a small gravelled courtyard with a very tight turning circle when other cars are there.

Chipping Camden is my new favorite places! It’s a quintessential Cotswold town. Cloud 9 is right behind town, phenomenal location, but it doesn’t have a coffee pot or washer dryer and the kitchen is sparsely furnished. Not the place if you want to settle in, have breakfast at home and run a loaf of laundry. Otherwise, we loved it!
