Hampton Inn & Suites Williamstown Ark Encounter

Indoor pool water cold.

What I liked: The hotel fitness room gym was one of the best I've experienced; Extremely convenient to Ark Encounter; Free coffee and tea; Was clean and service was friendly. What I didn't like: The sink and shower drains were slow and filled up; the shower leaked alot, out onto the bathroom floor; we had to pay $7.50 per day just to park at the hotel; the patio fire pit was broken; meager selection for breakfast.

The hotel and room was nice and fairly new. Nice that it was adjacent to the Ark Encounter but they have capitalized on that by now charging parking fees. Not noted when I booked. Such greed!

Loved the convenient access to the Ark Encounter and that the hotel was decorated with Ark Encounter artwork. The fitness center was one of the best outfitted of any hotel I’ve stayed in.

I liked how close we were to the Ark park. I did not like how noisy the pool was. There were some kids in there that were screaming high-pitched squeals, and their parents said nothing to them. I realize this is not the hotel‘s fault but maybe putting a sign in there would help.

The location is top notch. The breakfast is yummy. However, get there between 6 and 8 as it starts to get packed around 8 till 10. The pool is highly chlorinated which is understandable for the amount of use but it is nauseating. Would be nice if there was better ventilation. Rooms are 5 star.

Liked: Pet friendly, cleanliness, location, staff helpfulness Disliked: Costly pet fee and parking fee; had to ask for the following fixes to room: Bathroom sink did not drain, needed replacement lightbulb in standing lamp, only two tissues in tissue box.

Disappointed in pool being closed and having to pay for parking. For $200 a night it wasn’t worth it. We didn’t get there on a day when the Ark has tours. You can only see the Ark from the top floor and it’s about a mile away. Disappointed visit. Good thing is it’s only an hour from the Bourbon trail!

Paying $5/night to park disappointed me.

Bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very clean. The breakfast area was bright & cheery. There was a decent variety of food items. The front desk was unable to provide any guidance for the Ark. granted it isn’t their job but would certainly add to the customer service aspect.

Carpets and furniture were stained and dirty. Our room smelled like onions

The front desk staff were terrific — very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the room was disappointing. It had a strong odor and wasn’t cleaned to standard. The wallpaper was peeling, and a used shower cap from the previous guest was left behind. The rooms definitely need more attention to cleaning and upkeep. Also, charging $7 per day for parking feels a bit excessive for hotel guests.

Our room was not swept and hair was in shower and on bathroom counter.

Sheets on bed and pillowcases were dirty. I asked to fox that and I was told “ housekeeping is no longer here, so if you want you can come get a sheet on the front desk….

Two of the three rooms we reserved were great. Nicely appointed and reasonably clean. The third room's smell of old, greasy pizza smacked us in the face as soon as we opened the door. The room was filthy. Every surface had visible sticky stuff, and the floors were disgusting. Four of the eight pillows smelled unwashed, so we didn't trust the sheets. The front desk said they were completely booked so we couldnt switch rooms. The said they were going to have ourroomcomple

Great location to the Ark Encounter, good hotel, but absolutely terrible service. We stayed for 4 nights, and our room was never cleaned. We had to ask for towels and our trash emptied and 3 out of 4 days even that was not done. Communication between staff was very lacking.

Could hear lobby music in the room all night and the pillows suck, otherwise comfortable stay.

For Ark Encounter travelers, this hotel is next door to the park's parking lot. Breakfast was included. Our room was clean. Lots of towels for everyone for a 2 Queen bedroom. We stayed in an accessible room and there's lots of space for a wheel chair, or for families with large strollers. Comfortable beds. We all slept well. No closet though if you wish to hang clothes.

Loved how close it is to the Ark Encounter. Room was very spacious and clean. Beds are a bit uncomfortable but other than that it was a great one night stay for my family of 5. We had a direct view of the Ark from our room.

We paid extra for a room with a view of the Ark. But, the Ark was really far away. This photo was taken with 10x zoom. It's not worth the extra that hotels.com charges. Get a larger room instead!

The property is very conveniently located by the Ark Encounter. The food option for breakfast was quite nice as well. The room was clean and quite spacious. The only con on this stay were the pillows. It seemed like they were on their last leg. Nevertheless, it was a great stay.

The mattress in the room was cheap and horrible for the amount we were charged per night. The springs were poking into our body which caused us to wake up in pain.

The staff was great. Rooms are adequate but no frills. Sliding “barn door” for bathroom yields limited privacy. Breakfast workers did a great job. Food area needs to reorganized, as it doesn’t flow well with large groups. Price of stay is significantly inflated for quality of facility. On this trip, we stayed at Embassy Suites in Bowling Green for considerably less money, and had a much better experience.

Karmen at the front desk was amazing! So kind and helpful. Loved the big shower. Quiet and comfortable and a big plus to be able to walk to the Ark.

Great staff

It was an amazing visit to the Ark experience. The staff at the Hampton did SO much to help our stay. I have cancer and the hotel staff made sure we were on the first floor. They also gave us a room right near an exit and answered all of our questions about transportation and parking.

This is a very nice hotel! Everything is very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was exceptional.

Staff was discourteous and uninterested in helping their guests. We waited over 25 minutes for the desk clerk to come back before we could check in. Upon departure my wife requested a printed receipt and was told it was not possible to get one. When she asked for the manager to come up and explain why, the manager was somehow able to immediately print the receipt. Staff was atrocious.

The front desk staff member was outstanding and very accommodating.

Check in was really rough. Staff was difficult to work with and the computer system was not working.

We liked that the hotel was close to the ark and it was a very comfortable stay, what we didn’t like was that the staff was rude when we asked if they could remove the trash or provide us with towels.

We went there to go to the Ark Encounter. It is right across the parking lot, which was great! The staff at this Hampton Inn and Suites was WONDERFUL and very knowledgeable about the Ark Encounter. We would love to stay here again!

Everything has been good the property, but I have a major issue with a billing problem that can't seem to be rectified. Expedia and Hampton all point to fingers to the other person and nothing gets done. I've been in management for many years and I'm retired now. All it takes is one person with authority to make this happen. It is not that hard. Everyone seems to be working hard but nothing comes to a positive resolution. Obviously this is leaving a big stain on my overall feeling of staying here.

Management cancelled reservations without notice. Reservations made and paid in advance. Terrible service. Refund given, but not without multiple calls to the manager and inquiries through Hotels.com

Property is right next door to the Ark. We were able to walk over from the hotel and avoid a parking fee. Super convenient. The room was clean, breakfast was pretty good, and the pool was fun for the kids.

The breakfast bar was extremely good and kept full as soon as it became empty. Room was clean and quite. If you are going to the Ark stay here. You can walk to it and save the Ark parking.

Property is new, clean and very convenient for The Ark. only down side is can be crowded because of lack of options and not many food options either. Hotel is very nice.

The property’s location was excellent. Hotel and amenities were excellent. Breakfast was included and food standard was great.

Convenient for visiting the Ark though it would be helpful if the gate for pedestrians were clearly labeled and consistently open for guests. We had to drive round on our 2nd day. Breakfast was mostly good, more plain eggs instead of recipes with peppers would also be helpful.

Stayed here for The Ark Encounter. It’s basically in the parking lot of it. There’s nothing else around

Excellent hotel! Friendly guest services, good rooms, great breakfast! Location cannot be beat if you’re going to the Ark, it’s literally right beside it!

Great place to stay and connected to the Ark Encounter parking lot. You do not need to get the Ark parking pass if you stay at this hotel. You can leave your vehicle in the hotel parking lot and enter the gate to the Ark parking lot for free but only if you stay at the hotel!

We arrived very late and all the restaurants in the area were closed. There is not much in the area anyhow with exception of one Mexican food restaurant. The front desk host was very gracious and offered us food. We had planned to leave our vehicle at the hotel and walk to the Ark because it was advertised as walking distance, however, you have to use a hotel key to get through the gate to access the pathway. The hotel key will not work if you check out that morning and go see the Ark so we ended up having to use the parking lot since we only planned to stay the one night.

The hotel was full and they knew it but instead of preparing better, breakfast lines were long and slow because there wasn’t enough food for everyone. So when eggs were done, there was no sausage, fruit wasn’t being replenished, or pastries, etc. it was really expensive but that was our choice. We just expected them to be better prepared for the price. We did like the fact that you can walk to the Ark and not pay parking

Overall the stay was great. The only issue I had was with the continental breakfasts. They didn’t keep them well stocked til the end. If I got there on the later side, the remaining food options were limited.

This is a very busy hotel. There were only 2 people managing breakfast. Took forever for them the keep the breakfast times restocked. If you asked them to bring you something it might take 15 to get a yogurt if you got it all at. They moved at a snails pace. Nobody was managing the seating area. Wiping off the tables when people left would have been nice. We had to clean off our own table with someone else’s mess. People were grumbling about how long it took to get items restocked. It just wasn’t a good situation for a hotel that is this busy. There were no pool towels. I asked for some when we first entered the pool area. I was told someone was folding them and they’d be right out. 3 hours later, still no pool towels. Had to get them from the front desk. You need more staff here.

Great location next to the Ark Encounter, can walk thru the gate and avoid parking fees. Property clean but free breakfast has horrible eggs and sausage, potatoes were good as were the grits. There is variety and waffles I heard were good. There was no full length mirror in the room or enough trash cans. Ask for 1st floor, some rooms are very large.

Is very convenient to the Ark, facility is good and staff is good. Breakfast was not well organized...one giant line for everything (which was unnecessary) and the coffee was empty.

The location was great for our purpose. The room was spacious, contemporary, and clean, which is the most important thing for me. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was adequate for my family's need. It had enough variety for the oldest and youngest of us. Overall great stay. I would highly recommend this Hampton Inn.

Everything was really nice and good but the breakfast staff came up short.

We stayed here as it was the closest location to the Ark Encounter. This is a nice facility. Walking across the parking lot to the Ark Encounter was easy. The room was very nice and clean. We did have a little issue getting the fridge in the room working. Still not sure it was fully functional but it did manage to cool our Costco branded bottled water. Parking was cramped. It was always a roll of the dice to see if you would have a space or one that was close to an entrance. At least the room card could open other exterior doors that were locked for safety. Good call on keeping all entrances other than the main locked. It was neat to see my name being welcomed on the room TV when we entered the room. The hotel was very busy. Breakfast was included and it was obvious that the hotel was busy with all the people hitting the breakfast buffet. The two days we were there, items ran out on the buffet and we had to wait for them to be refilled. Lines could get a little long if you hit the buffet or were waiting for something to be filled. Tables got slopped up from the frequent traffic of people using them and seating was at a premium during breakfast depending on when you hit the buffet. Do not get me wrong, the staff were on top of the morning rush but it is hard to keep up with it. At no point though did I feel I was getting inconvenienced or held up though. I just wanted to mention that you should budget an adequate amount of time for the buffet.

Breakfast selection was very good. Hot items were hot and delicious. Very convenient for visiting Ark Encounter.
