Tivemos à agradável surpresa de estar em Guimarães na Festa do Pinheiro! Não somos de ir a festas, ainda mais essa que se desenrola durante a madrugada. Kkk Mas da sacada do Dom José podemos apreciar os vários tambores da Festa. O Carlos foi super atencioso no check in (inclusive nos arrumou um frigobar que ficou no quarto durante toda nossa estadia. O café da manhã é muito bom. Tem de tudo um pouquinho. O Hotel é pequeno, apenas 9 quartos. É um casarão reformado com muito bom gosto!!!! Um pátio interno muito belo. E a 600 metros do Paço dos Duques e do Castelo. Muito bem localizado. Um mercado a uns 100 metros a esquerda e um Pingo Doce a uns 300m a direita (seguindo o fluxo da rua de manhã única). Fizemos até o passeio de Teleférico (super indico!) lá encima é muito lindo! O restaurante Chalés da Penha é perfeito!!!!!

The staff was not there from 6 in the evening until 8 in the morning which felt very unsafe to me. The beds were hard and awful, the shower and bathroom was very small and water leaked all over from the shower.

Amazing stay at Dom Jose. Rita checked us in and she is amazing. Reached out to me the day before and advised to me that my room would be ready early. Het hotel heeft een bescheiden aantal kamers in een sfeervol oud herenhuis bij het centrum van de stad met houten vloeren, plafonds met sierpleistering en toch het comfort van airco en een fijne douche. Er is een kleine gezellige ontbijtruimte en het personeel doet alle moeite om het je naar de zin te maken. Wij voelden ons er echt welkome gasten.

We had an amazing stay at the hotel. The check-in and welcome from Adelaide who was very warm and hospitable. She was friendly and very professional which made the short stay extremely pleasant. The room and amenities were ideal, but a hot water kettle will be useful during the winter season. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay.

The personalized check was really helpful. The on site staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort and had helpful suggestions for activities and restaurants. The room was gorgeous. Excellent hot water pressure and it was spotless. Included breakfast was very good.

A hospedagem foi excelente,não é um hotel ,é um alojamento muito lindo que fica em um casarão antigo com muito conforto e bom gosto.As suites são espaçosas com um amplo banheiro.O café da manhã é servido em uma sala própria, com muitos itens tudo muito gostoso.O atendimento dos stafs é excelente,especialmente o Carlos que nos deu muitas dicas e sugestoes de passeios e restaurantes,assim como a Mariana que foi super atenciosa conosco.Só temos a agradecer e indicar o Don José aos nossos amigos. Voltaremos com certeza.

We were unable to make it the day of check in and Carlos and his staff were so accommodating! The room was absolutely gorgeous and spacious. It was wonderfully located to go see all the things we wanted. Lovely, lovely stay!

O quarto estava lindo e quentinho quando chegamos. O funcionário que nos atendeu é muito atencioso e nos ajudou com o check in tardio. O alojamento fica muito perto da rodoviária, e dá pra ir a pé para todos os pontos turísticos. Não tomamos café da manhã no local.

Tivemos à agradável surpresa de estar em Guimarães na Festa do Pinheiro! Não somos de ir a festas, ainda mais essa que se desenrola durante a madrugada. Kkk Mas da sacada do Dom José podemos apreciar os vários tambores da Festa. O Carlos foi super atencioso no check in (inclusive nos arrumou um frigobar que ficou no quarto durante toda nossa estadia. O café da manhã é muito bom. Tem de tudo um pouquinho. O Hotel é pequeno, apenas 9 quartos. É um casarão reformado com muito bom gosto!!!! Um pátio interno muito belo. E a 600 metros do Paço dos Duques e do Castelo. Muito bem localizado. Um mercado a uns 100 metros a esquerda e um Pingo Doce a uns 300m a direita (seguindo o fluxo da rua de manhã única). Fizemos até o passeio de Teleférico (super indico!) lá encima é muito lindo! O restaurante Chalés da Penha é perfeito!!!!!

We were unable to make it the day of check in and Carlos and his staff were so accommodating! The room was absolutely gorgeous and spacious. It was wonderfully located to go see all the things we wanted. Lovely, lovely stay!

Very very pleased. Found the Royal super-nice... lux, comfortable, and a good night. The genial welcome, good breakfast and good price were appreciated. Location is central, and the shops, restaurants and sights are steps away. A real winner!!

O quarto estava lindo e quentinho quando chegamos. O funcionário que nos atendeu é muito atencioso e nos ajudou com o check in tardio. O alojamento fica muito perto da rodoviária, e dá pra ir a pé para todos os pontos turísticos. Não tomamos café da manhã no local.

A hospedagem foi excelente,não é um hotel ,é um alojamento muito lindo que fica em um casarão antigo com muito conforto e bom gosto.As suites são espaçosas com um amplo banheiro.O café da manhã é servido em uma sala própria, com muitos itens tudo muito gostoso.O atendimento dos stafs é excelente,especialmente o Carlos que nos deu muitas dicas e sugestoes de passeios e restaurantes,assim como a Mariana que foi super atenciosa conosco.Só temos a agradecer e indicar o Don José aos nossos amigos. Voltaremos com certeza.

Bellissima camera in tipico palazzo signorile del centro. Ottima accoglienza di Carlos e della sua collega della sala colazioni. Colazione completa e molto buona. Pulizia, posizione, gentilezza del personale fanno di questa struttura un posto altamente da consigliare.

A beautiful hotel with wonderful rooms with high ceilings and historic features. The beds were super comfy and the breakfast plentiful. A great base to explore the city with very helpful hosts. Our host Carlos had a number of excellent recommendations he texted us.

The personalized check was really helpful. The on site staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort and had helpful suggestions for activities and restaurants. The room was gorgeous. Excellent hot water pressure and it was spotless. Included breakfast was very good.

I travel a lot yet seldom write reviews. So there must be a good reason to do this one. I am stingy so I am looking for value when booking a place. Re. this one, the owners conveniently forgot to mention that there is a COMMON bathroom for all the bedrooms on the floor (one bathroom for seven rooms on the floor where I stayed). Since toilets are within the same space as the showers, you can imagine what problems to expect. Had I been clearly informed about common bathroom I would have never booked that place.Next the website of the place features as the first picture a beautiful historic palace which has no relevance to the place which is just a recent townhouse. If you think that you will stay in a charming building, you are wrong.If you come by own rental car, then you face impossibility of safely transferring your luggage to the guest house as one cannot stop the car on the three lane (in one direction) avenue along which the place is located. Even if you put it on sidewalk, it still can be hit by incoming traffic.Room is very Spartan and also serves as a storage for extra folding beds which do not fit in it. If you get one facing the street (city view) you will be exposed to noise all night.Bathroom is dilapidated with paint peeling off the walls. Naturally, nobody is making the bed or replacing your towel. Also, they kept bombarding me with messages prior to arrival—all in Portuguese.In sum, this is a youth hostel accommodation not worth even half the price they charge.

Carlos was very helpful& gave us great restaurant recommendations& sights to see. The two rooms were great. Spotlessly Clean& we had room 1 ( the best) great new bathroom& beautiful ceilings. Room 2 had beautiful ceilings & much smaller bathroom so if your very tall ( my son 6 feet 7 inches) get bedroom 1 . Great beds & sheets. Breakfast wonderful. Beautiful gardens& a beautiful restored villa Location ideal& price is great. Guimares is a beautiful town & one of our favorite on our Portuguese trip. We would definitely stay again

I really enjoyed my time here. The room was beautiful and very clean. The staff, Carlos & Mariana were lovely. Friendly, helpful and informative. Location was great, close to everything. I would definitely stay here again when I'm back in Guimarães.
