I had an incredible stay at this lovely beautifully restored Villa. Great location with an easy walk to the seaside promenade, restaurants, shopping and the train station. From the train station you can catch the bus to Portofino. The hosts are gracious, warm and friendly. Enjoy a lovely breakfast on the Villa’s patio overlooking the sea and harbor.

Everything about this Villa is great! My only comment is that the driving there in the narrow/one way back allyes is challenging and requires a lot of care and good set of nerves.

Villa Gelsomino and the staff were great. If you’re driving the road is a bit narrow for the last bit, but then again that’s Italy. The staff was great and location up the hill from the train station was excellent. The town had a lot of places to explore and the walk to Portofino was a great one. It will take you about 45 minutes by train to get to Cinque Terre but that may be a good thing as the towns were pretty full and it wasn’t yet peak season. We would recommend this location with no reservations.

Fantastiskt boende som utmärker sig på alla bra sätt. Villan är otroligt genuin och charmig. Underbar frukost på altanen. Nära tågstation och gångavstånd till stan. En del trappor. Personalen var fantastisk. Fina gemensamma utrymmen och stor trädgård. Vi kommer definitivt tillbaka!

Very helpful and generous, well equipped villa with all amenities and wonderful breakfast served on antique dishes! The view is incredible! Truly the highlight of our trip! Well hidden gem! We had the Portofino room, which featured a gorgeous sea view. The entire villa is phenomenal, each room is a work of art, with vaulted ceilings and original artwork. Breakfast was a delight, with fresh fruit and veggies, perfect portions and honey from the property. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful during the stay. I would recommend Villa Gelsomino in a heartbeat.

I am not being dramatic when I say this is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed! Everything was magical. Pick the Portofino suite if you can, the balcony is honestly unbelievable. Location, rooms, atmosphere all amazinggg.

The villa is beautiful. The noise is terrible. Trains passed all nigth long. Airconditioning was off because it was October, despite it was more than 25 degrees outside and like 28 in the room. Unbearable.

This hotel was an incredible find!! The location was very easy to walk to from the train station **** if you are walking, MAKE SURE to take the narrow stairs up and over the railroad tracks *** Once you're there, you will be overwhelmed with the beauty and splendor of the rooms as well as the overlooking views of the harbor. The staff was extremely nice and helpful... I will definitely be back!!

We had a room with a balcony and a stunning view of the Santa Margherita. For example, there is an extra charge of €20 for check-ins after 7:30 PM, and €50 for check-ins between 9 and 11 PM. Because there is no 24-hour service. It’s also apparently essential to fill out a form the day before specifying your breakfast preferences—even for the limited basic option—which we failed to do. This was not appreciated. The reason given is to reduce food waste, though it comes across as greenwashing. It’s also worth noting that trains pass relatively close by, which might be an issue for light sleepers. This hotel was an incredible find!! The location was very easy to walk to from the train station **** if you are walking, MAKE SURE to take the narrow stairs up and over the railroad tracks *** Once you're there, you will be overwhelmed with the beauty and splendor of the rooms as well as the overlooking views of the harbor. The staff was extremely nice and helpful... I will definitely be back!!

This is a unique hotel – a villa built by a wealthy family in the late 19th century, with its historical charm preserved down to the finest detail. We had a room with a balcony and a stunning view of the Santa Margherita. But it’s important to understand that this is not a five-star hotel in terms of the service typically associated with that rating. For example, there is an extra charge of €20 for check-ins after 7:30 PM, and €50 for check-ins between 9 and 11 PM. Because there is no 24-hour service. It’s also apparently essential to fill out a form the day before specifying your breakfast preferences—even for the limited basic option—which we failed to do. This was not appreciated. The reason given is to reduce food waste, though it comes across as greenwashing. It’s also worth noting that trains pass relatively close by, which might be an issue for light sleepers. Personally, we didn’t find it particularly disturbing.

Just the best. Would definitely stay here again. Great location, great view, great staff, great breakfast!..couldnt have been better. One tip: if you arrive at the train station with a roller bag, dont take the stairs. Take a right on the road out of the train station and head up the hill on the road. The stairs are a lot if you are carrying a bag.

We loved our stay at Villa Gelsomino! The property was absolutely gorgeous from the floor tiles to the ceilings. The location was very convenient and a quick walk to the city center. Views were breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice to have fresh, made to order food versus the typical breakfast buffet at most other hotels. All staff members were so nice and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. Highly recommend!

I am not being dramatic when I say this is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed! Everything was magical. Pick the Portofino suite if you can, the balcony is honestly unbelievable. Location, rooms, atmosphere all amazinggg.

Everything about this Villa is great! My only comment is that the driving there in the narrow/one way back allyes is challenging and requires a lot of care and good set of nerves.

Villa Gelsomino and the staff were great. If you’re driving the road is a bit narrow for the last bit, but then again that’s Italy. The staff was great and location up the hill from the train station was excellent. The town had a lot of places to explore and the walk to Portofino was a great one. It will take you about 45 minutes by train to get to Cinque Terre but that may be a good thing as the towns were pretty full and it wasn’t yet peak season. We would recommend this location with no reservations.

Fantastiskt boende som utmärker sig på alla bra sätt. Villan är otroligt genuin och charmig. Underbar frukost på altanen. Nära tågstation och gångavstånd till stan. En del trappor. Personalen var fantastisk. Fina gemensamma utrymmen och stor trädgård. Vi kommer definitivt tillbaka!

We had the Portofino room, which featured a gorgeous sea view. The entire villa is phenomenal, each room is a work of art, with vaulted ceilings and original artwork. Breakfast was a delight, with fresh fruit and veggies, perfect portions and honey from the property. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful during the stay. I would recommend Villa Gelsomino in a heartbeat.

The property was the most beautiful of all properties that we stayed at during our 3 weeks in Europe. The room was large with a beautiful bathroom, lots of character and the most wonderful views. The included breakfast could not be faulted and due to an early check out on our last day, the staff put together a breakfast box to takeaway so that we did not miss out. The staff were friendly and hospitable. The accommodation was conveniently located, and easy walk to town and the train station (stairs required). Also a lovely 5km walk to Portofino.

Villa Gelsomino is a special, special Inn that is among the best we’ve experienced over our many years of traveling in Europe. To begin, the staff is terrific - all the staff. They are well trained, focused on customer service and appear to genuinely enjoy their work. The Inn is unique, old in age, but updated to fit the period, yet charming with all the simple touches. The rooms are large, well maintained and the bathrooms have been updated - The entry is like walking into someone’s living room, with a nice piano and amazing views of Santa Margherita Bay. The yard is large, beautiful and has ample seating to enjoy a morning or afternoon quiet time. The property is gated and security is quite good. This was a Five Star experience for us - thanks to the staff for making our 10 day stay so memorable.
