Fantastic stay, lovely room overlooking longsands beach, good choice of breakfast in the morning, room was spotless, great shower, comfortable bed, good TV to watch the Olympics, on site icecream parlour, chip shop as well as the restaurant where we ate a couple of nights, good choice of drinks at the bar, thank you to all the staff who made our week so enjoyable, great Geordie hospitality

This Hotel has only recently been renovated and it has been completed very sympathetically and to a high standard. The room was very comfortable and had all the welcoming features such as a variety of complimentary beverages. I had to leave early so enjoyed a continental breakfast but would be in no doubt that the cooked options would be good quality too. The main bar area is extensive with the bar itself wrapped all the way around the lounge area. Tynemouth is also a gem and I will certainly be aiming to revisit and stay at the Castle again.

Lovely hotel in a great location by the beach. Art deco building with a lively pub inside, great choice of beers, cocktails etc. Food was excellent and breakfast choice was very good. Super dog friendly with their water fountain and treats. Loved it there and Tynemouth as a delight.

Just refurbished. Could smell new carpets and paint. Excellent for doggy people, both in rooms and bar areas. Great breakfast included. Good for coastal walks and access to Tynemouth beaches and ancient priory.

Great location at this recently refurbished hotel. Great shower always my way of assessing a hotel. Staff were helpful, pleasant and professional. Location very good for public transport we travel from home to the hotel by rail and bus with no problems. Very dog friendly including their own menu.

The bathroom shower was never cleaned over our 5 day stay. The floor wasn’t cleaned every day. The toilet didn’t always flush the toilet paper away and we told the staff this and it was still consistent throughout our stay. At breakfast we were constantly asking staff for crockery to be put out, hot food and pastries to be put out also milk, coffee and orange juice. Felt there wasn’t enough staff to cope with their customers. Also tables were never cleaned. The room had a lovely view.

Lovely hotel on the sea front - friendly staff - clean room - tea and coffee was done Ringtons which is so much better than the horrible Nescafé stuff normally on offer. We chose the breakfast which was very generous English - cereal, toast pancakes etc would recommend.

Nil unique - barely average. I questioned being asked for full payment on arrival. Asked to see room prior to payment and was met with not the best attitude. No bottled water in room on a particularly hot period, we had a child with us, however there was a fan in room. Empty wine bottle found under the bed. Certainly not value for money - we were there on bed and breakfast basis, breakfast average - buffet - guests were advised they could sit anywhere and at times was chaotic with queues and what staff that was there appeared to be run off their feet!

Newly renovated hotel in great location on sea front. Friendly staff, free parking, spacious, clean, modern room, with a little balcony to sit and see the view. Great shower, excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was perfectly clean with a very comfortable bed and the shower had none of the malfunctions often experienced in hotels!! The public rooms were beautifully decorated for Xmas. We enjoyed two breakfasts at the extensive buffet but missed maple syrup for our pancakes! However we were most impressed with the friendliness & helpfulness shown by all the staff & we expressed this on our departure. We will be back!

Great location by the beach. Theres a bar and restaurant downstairs. You can't hear the noise from my room. The only noise that kept me up was from the train (right next to my window). Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Breakfast was excellent. The bed was confortable. Pillows were too hard and tall for my preference.

This was our first stay in Tynemouth. The hotel is a lovely venue and a great place to base yourselves from. Friendly staff and good food add to the stay. Our only criticism would be a lack of A/C in the rooms. Ours was quite warm and the included fan was no use. Apart from that, it was lovely.

Lovely spacious room, all clean. It was missing a hairdryer as advertised and I had to go down to the bar to ask in my pyjamas with wet hair as no one was answering the phone - not great. Breakfast was nice as always and I ate my evening meal in the bar which was nice but a little bland and expensive. Would still stay again however, it's my go to for my work trips!

2nd time staying here. Lovely hotel overall. Preferred our first time though as had a sea view which was fab. The back of the hotel faces the train track so slightly noisy if you aren't used to it, but we weren't in the room much anyway so it wasn't really a problem.

Room 141 'sea view' only just. Room was extremely hot and the noisy fan supplied didnt even waft cool air. Very uncomfortable bed and heat kept us awake most of the night. Couldn't change room as was told when booking in hotel was full.

Had a problem with the evening meal which was quite upsetting for my wife. Meal not as described on the menu. Complained and asked for it to be replaced only the meal never arrived. Disappointing as the hotel is good.

very helpful staff member by the name of Jade helped us to navigate our phone to enable us to have free drinks instead of having our room cleaned. on our previous visit we had cards to hand in for this which we found much easier.

Great Hotel, ideally located for Tynemouth Cullercoats and Whitley Bay,walkable easily. Great service and food, fantastic views of the beaches from your room if you chose a sea view. This Hotel is excellent all round.

On arrival the check in machine did not work so we had to go to the bar area and locate a member of staff to check us in, sounds easy it wasn't, no one to be found so not the best start. Finding the room was the next challenge the signage is not clear at all. The room was very basic, not even any water and for the price expensive. We had some food outside, the waitress dropped some of the food when bringing it to the table, said she would replace it and we never saw her again! The food was ok. All in all not somewhere we would return too.

When we first arrived we couldn't find anybody to talk to or how to check in. We asked a member of the bar staff who told us check in was around the corner. There was no one. So asked another member of the bar staff who told us again to go round the corner. Eventually we realised its a self check in on a computer screen. Half way through the the check-in, a member of staff (think he must be the duty manager or similar) who asked us whether we were okay and he helped us to complete the check in. We must say the two members of the bar staff were not helpful at all and the way they spoke to us made us feel we were stupid. We have visited so many hotels in our lives and this is the first time we did a self checked in. Maybe this is the sign if the time. The hotel is very nice but unfortunately our room backed on to the rail track and even with the window shut we could hear the trains everytime they passed. Breakfast was good. Evening meals were good, however we found out the prices of some of the items were different, comparing to another 'INN' in the same group, a few miles down the road. This is a chain and I would expect the menu and prices to be the same. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

On arrival unfortunately we had missed dinner as it finished at 9pm (a little early I thought given the location) I had to drive out and get fast food. The staff seemed busy and as I approached reception to check in a man was there who just said give me a second and vanished, that being said a lady then checked us in and was lovely. We went to our room and it was beautiful and very comfortable and clean, refreshing to have a nice seating area and an outside area to sit in. We slept wonderfully to be honest wish I could have stayed another night! At breakfast it was busy and no staff in sight so it was chaotic like a free for all, disappointingly the ‘hot’ food was cold, this could have been so much better. It wouldn’t stop me staying at this hotel as the location is amazing and the rooms are lovely!

We slept wonderfully to be honest wish I could have stayed another night! At breakfast it was busy and no staff in sight so it was chaotic like a free for all, disappointingly the ‘hot’ food was cold, this could have been so much better. It wouldn’t stop me staying at this hotel as the location is amazing and the rooms are lovely!

The room was perfectly clean with a very comfortable bed and the shower had none of the malfunctions often experienced in hotels!! The public rooms were beautifully decorated for Xmas. We enjoyed two breakfasts at the extensive buffet but missed maple syrup for our pancakes! However we were most impressed with the friendliness & helpfulness shown by all the staff & we expressed this on our departure. We will be back!

Lovely hotel on the sea front - friendly staff - clean room - tea and coffee was done Ringtons which is so much better than the horrible Nescafé stuff normally on offer. We chose the breakfast which was very generous English - cereal, toast pancakes etc would recommend.

Fantastic stay at a great hotel. Lovely spacious room and friendly staff. The hotel is in a great spot right on the front and perfect for walking to Tynemouth or Cullercoats. The breakfast was good and the bar is excellent.

Great night away at the Tynemouth Castle Inn. Very nice comfortable and well designed room, excellent bathroom with superb shower. The Hotel is ideally suited for both Tynemouth and Cullercoats, with Whitley Bay a 40 minute walk away.

The hotel was in a great location. I was at an event in Cullercoats so just a 10-15 minute walk to there from the hotel. Bed really comfy and a nice refreshing shower / breakfast in the morning.

This really is a lovely hotel, in a fabulous location. Its wonderful to wake up to the sea every morning and to walk along the seafront in February sunshine. The bar/restaurant is busy and well used by locals, I'd say. Really recommended

Had a problem with the evening meal which was quite upsetting for my wife. Meal not as described on the menu. Complained and asked for it to be replaced only the meal never arrived. Disappointing as the hotel is good.

I have stayed at many icg hotels and the tynemouth castle is up there with the best. However, I was not impressed with the evening food, it lacked flair and seemed to be formulaic. The building and decor were superb.

We thought the position of the check in for the hotel was poorly thought out , being on the opposite side of the hotel from our room, meaning you either have to walk through a busy pub with your luggage or around the outside of the building potentially in bad weather to access your room. Possibly a key card operated entrance accessing the rear car park area may help ? There was no mobile phone coverage while inside the building and when we asked a member of staff to order us a taxi in the evening we were told we would have to go outside to make the call as even their phones wouldn't work. The buffet breakfast, while it looked nicely presented, was barely warm, the hot water for tea was also luke warm and the coffee actually ran out ! We were having breakfast quite early so dont understand why items were cold or ran out? All in all , for nearly £180 we expected much better.

A excellent, newly refurbished hotel, which was a joy to stay in for 3 days. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Missing was a suitcase stand. A lovely menu in the bar/restaurant, although very pricey. Breakfast was the full English, spoilt by being cold half way through eating due to cold plates and insufficient heat at the servery. On day one the scrambled egg was cold at start. That said, quite nice. The staff were great and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. I wish the new venture all success.

On arrival unfortunately we had missed dinner as it finished at 9pm (a little early I thought given the location) I had to drive out and get fast food. The staff seemed busy and as I approached reception to check in a man was there who just said give me a second and vanished, that being said a lady then checked us in and was lovely. Excellent stay !! Can’t single out a particular item it was all that good. Food was excellent too especially the haddock crumpet starter !! Going back with the wife in a couple of weeks for a treat. 10/10.

Location location location. Tynemouth castle has a great one above Longsands beach, around 20 minute walk from Tynemouth village and metro etc. Gorgeous looking bar/restaurant. Dinner - pies were very good but dinner wasn’t as hot as would expect. Staropramen on tap is a great choice. Reasonable amount of parking. Dog friendly.
