There are very few places like this that we have stayed that we enjoyed so much. It is definitely an old, historic home, so it is going to have uneven floors and high-risers on the stairs. But if you are the kind of person that loves old homes, none of that will bother you. It also has a screened sleeping porch as well as an open porch that looks down over the beautiful yard down to the creek. And speaking of the creek, there is a swimming hole that is easily accessible and was a lot of fun. One note: wear some sort of protective beach shoes on your feet if you go in as the bottom has rocks and leaves. But the temperature was lovely and the water clear and we enjoyed floating around for a bit. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need for the groceries that you might bring. The small living room was very cozy for reading or TV watching. There is nothing I would have changed about this wonderful little home! It was welcoming, quaint, cozy and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back to the area and will stay in the Tannery without a doubt. Top marks!

The Tannery is beautiful, well cared for, and looks exactly like the pictures. The warm spring in the back is phenomenal, as are both of the huge porches, one of which is a sleeping porch.The only thing that could have made our stay better would be more comfortable furniture. The bed was very hard and we didn't sleep well either of the nights. The couches and chairs are also very uncomfortable to the point where we really couldn't hang out in the family room. I would consider upgrading those items so your guests have a comfortable sleep!Thanks for the hospitality!

The Tannery is an oasis of tranquility. The house is located on a quiet road and offers plenty of privacy. The house itself was the perfect size for me and my wife. The kitchen is small, but has everything you need to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The screened-in porch was the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee and enjoy the sounds of nature. To be perfectly frank, most of your time should be spent in the true gem of this property: the warm springs swimming hole. It is private, quiet, and refreshing. If you are seeking a reset, a day spent in the spring is exactly what you need. The ability to have your own private mineral soak, in and of itself, makes this property a gem. When combined with a space with such history, this property is a can’t-miss. It is a special opportunity to have your own hidden mountain paradise. Also, a word on the mouse issue. This property is very rural. During my time, I saw deer, chipmunks, field mice, and a hawk. The swimming hole has fish in it who are very curious. However, I did not see any signs of any “critters” in the house. The house is spotless. The space itself shows how much pride the owners take in it. This property is historic and, as such, is very rustic. One of the main reasons to stay here is to get back to nature. You’ll probably see animals of all shapes and sizes by the spring, but there aren’t mice in the house.

Absolutely a magical place!! The dipping pool in the back was oh so relaxing and the temperature was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in the screened porch upstairs. It was like sleeping in a treehouse! Insects chirping and water running from the stream was meditative!! I loved the experience. The house is magnificent, accommodating and unique. If you looking for a relaxing experience, this is the place!
