A Friday night around 10pm and the bar was closed with only the night porter to serve you a drink if required. Had to get out of bed to turn the the lights on/off

The majority of the hotel was booked out for a wedding as there is a function room at one end of the building. One of our party was placed in a room very close to the event and the noise and strobe lights were such that sleep was impossible. Disappointing given after a long day of travelling that is why we had booked a hotel room. Unsure why people not associated with the function were placed in rooms right next to it when the opposite end of the hotel was slightly quieter. Hotel was full so no alternative room was available and while desk staff were apologetic this wasn’t much practical help. Complained again on checkout and still awaiting the contact from the duty manager that was promised. Unimpressed as otherwise the room was ok but this level of noise until after midnight was unacceptable.

All the staff were amazing, professional, unobtrusive, and very helpful. We were there for a family wedding and we had a brilliant weekend, food was fantastic and the setting was beautiful. The place was very clean although there were some areas that looked a little tired decor wise but we are talking about a very old building.

A lovely hotel on the outskirts of Liverpool. While looking a little dated, it was a lovely stay with comfortable bed, friendly staff, and scenic grounds. Staff member Matthew was exceptionally helpful with our trip :)

The hotel was ok note it’s listed as hotel & spa but their is no spa room was spacious but needs updating . Large tv large shower poor finish to current decor in bathroom but clean and comfortable breakfast was great staff very friendly yes I would stay again even though their is no spa which I was looking forward 2 Hotel is in a great location Lots of parking on site Overall a decent mid level hotel

Freezing! Temp outside was 7degrees, temp in room 9 degrees. One tiny electric heater in the room which I switched to max, by 7am the room temp was 8 degrees! On first glance it is clean, but when you actually look, there are spider webs and dust all over the curtain tops and bed frames. The luxury vibe is made nonsense by the quality of the room supplies and the menu. I had the steak, it was ok but nothing special, rocket and parmesan was well past sell by date.

Staff lovely, polite and helpful. Room was spotless and comfortable. It's a beautifully set up hotel and well worth a visit. Our stay coincided with a breakfast with Father Christmas (in not American, so i dont say "Santa" and it was lovely seeing the children all excited. I definitely recommend Rainhill Hall.

Booked the Luxury suite - the TV did not work and also the Jacuzzi Bath had not been cleaned properly - whilst in bath, sludge came spurting out of the Jets - not best experience here im afraid. However the Staff were beyond excellent in arranging another room

room 30 is pretty tired, the shower is high above the bath with no shower screen/curtain so it's impossible to keep the bathroom dry, puddles form everywhere.

Wi-Fi on the room was abysmal. I am on business and I need to work in the room and I can’t. Wi-Fi should now be like hot and cold running water, shouldn’t even be amazed when it works well. But this was rubbish.

Last stayed couple of years ago and didn't live up to memory. Seemed as if room recently updated but not finished/poor design; ie low level bed (thin mattress) but TV high up on wall, no shower screen so would flood floor! Not even a "how was stay" on check out. Sadly won't be back.

Everything was fine until 23:00 when guests were loud on the ay from the bar. Then 4am someone was sorting plates out and it sounded so loud that they were in the room….. most of the main rooms are great but the newer corridor ones are not soundproofed at all!

Have stayed here couple of times before so know the hotel is lovely. Wasn't so impressed with our allocated room this time though. I booked a luxury room and expected it to be a little luxurious, but unfortunately it wasn't. Room was quite small and narrow and a little dated and the window didn't open at all which made the room really stuffy resulting in condensation dripping on to the window sill in the morning. overall lovely hotel, but expected more for a 'luxury room'.

The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was nice. I was disappointed with the room however. Firstly upon entering it smelt musky. Turning on the TV I found none of the channels worked or were tuned in. The internet kept dropping out also. When taking a bath, the water had to run for around 5-10minutes before it ran hot. Also the bed seemed to be two single mattresses together as when laying in the middle I seemed to fall between the two.

The building is a bit run down and the room decor felt cheap and aged. Couldn’t get one of the bedside lights to work. The wood floors really need some rugs to help minimize the noise in the room due to high ceilings and poor sound proofing. Breakfast was nice though.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, food was ok, the room was not to my liking, very dark walls, no bedside lights, plugs too far from bed. No remote for tv. No extractor in bathroom. The room was clean and the bed waa comfortable but the heat in the room was unbearable.

Nice stay, the room albeit big, was lacking various facilities like a desk or a mini-fridge. There was also no air conditioning, and with it being very warm outside, this then made the room feel very hot. No fans or other provisions despite the lack of opening windows. A mediocre stay for what is advertised as a 4 star hotel.

Check in was good, as travelling on business was told I would receive a VAT receipt in the morning on check out. On checking out I was told it was company procedure that they don’t issue a VAT receipt and that I need to contact Expedia for one, on explaining I paid the hotel directly on checkin and also added breakfast to bill was still rudely told it is their policy! Be mindful if your staying on business. Room was ok but whole hotel needed a lick of paint, on leaving reception and heading to your room you are met with crumbling paint and dirt marks on walls leaving you wondering what your room would be like. Doesn’t warrant the rating it claims.

Second visit to this hotel, first visit ok although the shower had no shower curtain so the floor got soaked and was slippery, complained to receptionist but they were not interested, saying no one else had complained. Open to a slip claim there. This second visit was worse still. Room 24, no heating in the toilet and in winter was freezing. Ladybugs not liking the cold outside decided to crawl through the poorly sealed windows and enjoyed flying around the room. Probably about 20. Venue had an event on that didn’t finish until after midnight. Room 24 is near to the function room and next to a disabled toilet which was being used all night by party guests. Couldn’t call reception to ask for the party to have some consideration for paying guests trying to sleep as there is no phone in the room. It was classed as a disabled room so if anyone gets in trouble in room 24, I hope you have your own mobile phone handy. Luckily we’re not disabled but had to get out of bed at 23:30 to walk to reception to find out when the music and screaming would stop. Again reception not interested and told us the party was booked until midnight. Eventually quietened down at about 12:30. Sunday breakfast is from 08:30, arrived at 08:30 as needed to get away early but had to wait as a party was just finishing off their breakfast at 08:30……! and there were no spare tables for two. Second and last visit to this poorly, uninterested “hotel”. No doubt this review will not be posted.

Arrived early afternoon, friendly check in and shown to our room, which was beautiful. Unfortunately there was a problem with the cold water so we had to change rooms. They were very apologetic and upgraded us to a suite, which was a treat. Restaurant staff were very welcoming and we had lovely meals.

They were very apologetic and upgraded us to a suite, which was a treat. Restaurant staff were very welcoming and we had lovely meals.

Lovely room with new shower, very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bar area and nice grounds to wonder around. Just a continental breakfast in the morning, but this was ample. It wasn’t expensive to stay here but excellent value for money.

A lovely hotel on the outskirts of Liverpool. While looking a little dated, it was a lovely stay with comfortable bed, friendly staff, and scenic grounds. Staff member Matthew was exceptionally helpful with our trip :)

I brought 3 business guests to Rainhall as I told them it was really good. We went for dinner at 2015 and were told we could only have Spicy chicken or Fish and chips. It was rushed and unprofessional. The barman told us it was due to the new menu starting on the 1/10/25 Then breakfast the next morning was badly understaffed the poor girl had far too much to do and we spent longer than we could afford to wait for tea, coffee and a full English. I use this hotel myself but felt rather let down after singing it’s praises to my colleagues who were there for the first time

Booked for a rugby game ,real close ,room was nice ,huge tv ,had a drink in the bar ,gorgeous place full of character ,breakfast was lovely and presented nice ,staff were nice ,few things in room missed by the cleaner but we are not too picky as we got the room for a bargain deal ,would use again

I've stayed here a few times and never disappointed. On the edge of Rainhill village with plenty of amenities and train station giving you around 25mins trip into Liverpool or Manchester.

What a wonderful find. Halfway between Liverpool and Manchester a little sanctuary. Unfortunately I didn’t get to use the spa facilities, so hopefully I’ll get to go back.

Room and hotel quite dated , dirty used glasses still in room from previous guests, No shower only bath, bed was comfortable and clean,room very noisy, service very slow and the breakfast was an absolute nightmare we had to wait nearly an hour and a half then when it arrived it was cold and under cooked had to keep asking for everything no one getting served in correct order totally unacceptable ,the tv in the room was impossible to watch as it was on a side wall so you would have to stand in the bathroom to watch 😱

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Converted retreat centre, so doesn't entirely feel like a hotel. Stayed in the presidential sweet with twin baths which are fun. Big TV. Decor a little gauche but a nice room none-the-less. No hot water in shower in morning which was a shame. Also we could hear every conversation at the reception downstairs and the live music in the restaurant. Live music finished at 930 which was a reasonable time. But did need music on the Tele to mask the conversation from reception. The onsite restaurant was reasonably priced (two steak dinners, with starters, two bottles of wine, and breakfast for around £130. Portions were generous and nicely presented. Menu is small but they have focused on doing less really well. Really Well! The live music was unexpected at first but grew on us! Nice hotel but a few finishing touches like bathrobes, more towels than the minimum two, shower gel, products for use in the bath, and a fabric chaise longue rather than vinyl would have genuinely made it feel like a luxury stay. It was a fun nice stay, but not quite the luxury anticipated from the pictures. Restaurant was best feature, and would possibly visit the restaurant again but not the hotel.

The rooms and hallways are tired, as is the flooring in the main restaurant. Also, went down for breakfast at 8am, it took over 1hr 15mins for the hot food to arrive. The poached eggs were completely set and over cooked. I was late and behind schedule for the day and had no time to semd back my food!

A characterful hotel with an interesting history. Rainhill is famous for Stevenson’s Rocket, so an interesting area, as well as convenient for Liverpool by car. The room we had was quirky - e.g. two large baths with jacuzzi jets! A comfortable night’s sleep in a good bed. However, a large queue for breakfast and poor communication from breakfast staff about this led to our decision to check out earlier than we planned to in order to have breakfast elsewhere.

Upon arrival the look of the hall.is stunning. Beautiful.gardens and exterior. Howrver upon enteting the hall its very tired looking with paint work scuffed scratched and could.do with a tidy up. The room.was basic but clean but the shower flooded and the walls again needed painting. Breakfast was another level. 25 mins to be served (and it wasnt that busy) breakdast served cold and had to be returned. 2nd breakfast came and evetything that was cold was hot but what was hot was now cold!. Toast served with no side plate so had to use a napkin to butter it. Breakfast was redunded but these small thing could have easy have been rectified with right training and staffing

On arrival we were shown a small musty smelling room 32 we found breathing difficult as we have asthma We were then moved to 32 which was larger with a 4 poster again quite musty Finally shown room 9 which was not musty and spacious No complaints at all
