Great hotel , high end type but quite cost effective Food was excellent Great choices for breakfast Reception staff courteous and polite and helpful Restaurant / bar staff were great Located close to transport links to get to Amsterdam The hotel has bikes to hire including e-bikes there is also a bike hire shop nearby We hired bikes and went to the beach which was unexpected as we had originally planned a city break but the beach is a short cycle away Overall excellent stay

This is a really great hotel where the standards of cleanliness and comfort are very high. Dinner and lunch were both delicious and there is a good atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff are courteous. I would stay here again if I visit Haarlem in the future.

Gute Lage zum Ausgehen und Shoppen. Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen. Leider kostet das Parken in der Hotelgarage 20€ am Tag. Und das war noch ein günstiger Tarif. Können das Clubsandwich und die Fritten vom angrenzenden Restaurant Zocher empfehlen, wenn man zu müde ist, um zum Abendessen nochmal rauszugehen

This is a fabulous hotel from the friendly welcome at reception to the comfort of the room. Excellent snacks from the bar in the evening. Having a minibar was a bonus and worth the extra for the beautiful crystal glasses provided. Having a car pass for the garage was also a bonus. The beds are really comfortable with high quality bed linen.

What a fabulous hotel. It was clean and tidy. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room had a small balcony, no room for a chair though. The mini bar was free and topped up every day. Great selection for breakfast. We had dinner there one night, fish and chips which was so tasy. The bus stop is just round the corner with buses running regularly to Haarlem station, where you can easily get the train into Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would go back again.

Schlechte Matratzen, Kissen, muffiges Zimmer, sehr spartanische Einrichtung, anders als auf Fotos online, sehr unaufmerksamer Service in bar und schlechte Küche. Preis-/Leistung passt nicht, zu teuer für das, was man bekommt. Frühstücksbuffet viel zu teuer.

Fantastic experience at the Carlton Square. Haarlem is a very charming and comfortable place, and we slept in maybe the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The Carlton Square is an oasis in the middle of an oasis.

Warm and efficient welcome from very friendly staff. Lovely, comfortable hotel in centre of this beautiful city. One small quibble, the queen bed was two distinct halves, impossible to sleep in the middle and was a little lumpy and old.

Air conditioning was broken days before I booked - no notice of that. Checked in at 9pm and was only told about it AFTER I had checked in. It was too late to change to a different hotel. Didn’t sleep a wink on account of it being so hot in my room. Very deceitful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carlton Square. Our room was nicely furnished and decorated. The hotel is close to restaurants and attractions such as the Frans Hals museum, and a reasonable walk to the Haarlem city center. A great value.

We’ve stayed at The Carleton many times. It is convenient to Schiphol airport by car. Parking is available under ground. The location is ideal for accessing the pedestrian friendly main streets in Haarlem. Breakfast is plentiful, although I miss the raisin buns. However, the carpet needs changing, the rooms need a new coat of paint, lighting in the bedrooms is insufficient especially in the upcoming long winter days. Air conditioning is NON-existent unfortunately, despite advertising that claims it is available. A noisy fan does blow air, but it doesn’t cool the room at all! This is an on-going issue and should be addressed as the days, even in NL become hotter during the summer/late fall days. Opening a window isn’t always an option when it’s hot outside, wet outside and/or noisy outside. Sadly the hotel is looking tired. That said, we will return.

4th time staying at Carlton Square, however it was not a good as previously. Shower was leaking and smellt like a bin. We used towels to mop up the flooding. Floor lamp broke with No electricity and the coffee machine was also broken. Reported all of this to Duty manager but they FAILED to get it sorted. Not acceptable Carlton Square. Will consider not staying here again. Poor service this time.

The hotel staff are excellent, and the hotel has a nice restaurant and bar. The location is ideal. Close to all the restaurants and shops, as well as busses. Yet, you’re located on a park away from the hustle and bustle. I will return.

I made this reservation months in advance and i booked a non refundable rate for it. A week later i found out my partner could only travel a few days later from the dates i booked and i asked the hotel to kindly move the night i had booked 2 days later and if there was a change in rate to pay that i would do so gladly. Still months ahead of my check in date. The hotel refused to move my reservation and said to take it up with hotels.com without making a minimal effort to be accomodating. Having owned various hotel properties i know for a fact a hotel can easily modify dates in their internal property management system and it will automatically readjust their availibility on external websites like expedia and hotels.com , it literally takes a minute to do so. It was a small favor to ask in a business where people should be flexible and accomodating to their guests but instead they refused any adjustments. What sets a good hotel apart from a bad one is in the service and the details. Hard fail on this one.

I made this reservation months in advance and i booked a non refundable rate for it. A week later i found out my partner could only travel a few days later from the dates i booked and i asked the hotel to kindly move the night i had booked 2 days later and if there was a change in rate to pay that i would do so gladly. Still months ahead of my check in date. The hotel refused to move my reservation and said to take it up with hotels.com without making a minimal effort to be accomodating. What a fabulous hotel. It was clean and tidy. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room had a small balcony, no room for a chair though. The mini bar was free and topped up every day. Great selection for breakfast. We had dinner there one night, fish and chips which was so tasy. The bus stop is just round the corner with buses running regularly to Haarlem station, where you can easily get the train into Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would go back again.

Bijzonder prettig gemanaged hotel. Al het personeel is bijzonder attent en vriendelijk. Je merkt dat iedereen zijn best doet om het de klant naar de zin te maken. The hotel itself was lovely. Restaurant was great. Our server was fantastic. Staff at the front desk were nice as well. My only complaint was after 2 days I asked for maid service for our bathroom and clean towels. When I came back to my room there was a bag of 2 towels and a washcloth hanging on the door knob. Called to complain and the girl from the desk came up and brought us clean cups, tea and coffee and took away or dirty towels. She said there was no one there from housekeeping.So..

4th time staying at Carlton Square, however it was not a good as previously. Shower was leaking and smellt like a bin. We used towels to mop up the flooding. Floor lamp broke with No electricity and the coffee machine was also broken. Reported all of this to Duty manager but they FAILED to get it sorted. Not acceptable Carlton Square. Will consider not staying here again. Poor service this time.

The hotel is situated just outside the centre of Haarlem 5 minutes walk from the Frans Haals museum. It is very easy to get to be car and parking is very convenient. All you want to see is walkable. As well as restaurant in hotel there is an excellent bistro and a first class Italian within minutes of the hotel. Staff very friendly and most helpful.

This hotel was absolutely the best - excellent for shopping, dining and sightseeing. It was a very convenient location for getting to the airport via the bus. Definitely would recommend as a place to stay in Haarlem and will return if we should ever be in the area!

Lovely hotel out of the noise and bustle of Amsterdam; easy access from this hotel to downtown Amsterdam. Location is central in Haarlem and transportation to/from the airport is easy.

Für uns war das Carlton Square ein Hotel für die Durchreise. Gutes Business Hotel mit mässigem Frühstücksbuffet. Speck verbrannt, Rühreier kalt. Zimmer gross und sauber. Mühsame Zufahrt zum Hotel.

Schlechte Matratzen, Kissen, muffiges Zimmer, sehr spartanische Einrichtung, anders als auf Fotos online, sehr unaufmerksamer Service in bar und schlechte Küche. Preis-/Leistung passt nicht, zu teuer für das, was man bekommt. Frühstücksbuffet viel zu teuer.

This is a really great hotel where the standards of cleanliness and comfort are very high. Dinner and lunch were both delicious and there is a good atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff are courteous. I would stay here again if I visit Haarlem in the future.

Dit hotel zou een 4,5 sterren hotel zijn, maar persoonlijk vonden wij het dat absoluut niet waard. Bij binnenkomst stond er een medewerker in een sjofele trui achter de balie. Inchecken ging een beetje “tussendoor” terwijl hij ook nog een andere gast aan het helpen was. De kamer was schoon, maar het was er bloedheet. Het voelde alsof de vloerverwarming aan stond, al zeiden de medewerkers aan de balie dat ze geen vloerverwarming hadden. Waarschijnlijk leidingen in de vloer die warm waren. Dus hebben we met de airco de hele nacht vol aan en het raam open geslapen en nog was het te warm. Gezellig dicht bij elkaar liggen was er ook niet bij, want binnen een minuut was er een spleet tussen de bedden ontstaan van zo’n 10 cm. ‘s Morgens kwamen we erachter dat we wel een Nespresso apparaat hadden, maar geen koffie! Wat ons betreft voelen het hotel en de kamerinrichting als vergane glorie en is het zeker geen 4,5 ster waard.

Attractive hotel. Both reception and our room were clean and well appointed. Initially had issues with the room key but was assigned a different room. Parking is expensive on site but the room price was very reasonable.
