Chalet Ficalho

Das Hotel ist wirklich mit Abstand eines der schönsten der Umgebung. Allerdings auch mit dem schlechtesten Service. So gab es für beim Frühstück eine deutlich erkennbare Zweiklassengesellschaft: während die meisten Gäste laufend nach weiteren Wünschen gefragt wurden, gab es für uns ein Glas O-Saft und dann nichts mehr. Ein Omelette mit Käse konnte uns nicht zubereitet werden, der Nachbartisch bekam eines. Nicht mehr gebrauchtes Geschirr wurde nur bei den anderen Tischen abgeräumt, bei uns blieb es stehen, was bei dem winzigen Tisch nicht schön war. Verlassene Tische wurden nicht abgeräumt. Alternativen zu Kuhmilch mussten mühselig erfragt werden, vegetarische Option ist eine Sorte Käse. Gemüse gibt es nicht. Trotzdem war der Kellner sehr bemüht und höflich. Sicherlich sind die Abläufe nicht gut geplant. Auf dem Weg oben ins Zimmer fällt auf, dass die noch belegten Nachbarszimmer zwecks Reinigung offen stehen, jedoch keine Reinigungskraft auf dem Flur zu sehen ist. Ein Paradies für Diebe, da das Haus ja auch offen zugänglich ist (es gibt keine Rezeption und die Türen sind geöffnet). Selbstverständlich war uns bewusst, dass der checkout um 12 ist. Als wir um halb 12 am (wirklich wunderschönen Pool) lagen, wurden wir erneut auf den baldigen checkout hingewiesen — von Entspannung also keine Spur. Zudem wird man jederzeit am Pool durch die Chefs beobachtet.

Our stay was a disappointment as we had expected a higher standard of service for the price. The house, rooms, and grounds were beautiful but a hotel needs to provide more than this . There was no safe in the room (we would not have booked if we had realised this) and the owners were distant and not particularly friendly. On our final morning, when we arrived at 7:45am for breakfast, we were told that breakfast would not begin until 8:30am, and then told that we should have known that already. This was an inappropriate way to treat a customer and unnecessarily discourteous. Breakfast was disappointing as the options were limited and did not vary from day to day. We ate at very small tables with no room to put your plates. The only healthy options were plastic pots of Aldi yogurt and fruit salad. There were no salad items, nuts, or seeds. Not everyone wants bread and cake! Coffee was not fresh. The setting is undeniably attractive, but the limited interaction with the owners, lack of security, and lack of variety for breakfast placed the experience well below the standard implied by the price.

Et helt spesielt sted i Cascais! Chalet Ficalho er et vakkert historisk hus fra 1897, restaurert med stor respekt for den opprinnelige arkitekturen og atmosfæren. Fantastisk hage og basseng, flotte rom og en rolig og personlig stemning, samtidig som beliggenheten er perfekt for å oppleve Cascais til fots. Vi hadde et svært hyggelig opphold og kommer gjerne tilbake. Anbefales på det varmeste!

Wonderful stay at Chalet Ficalho, We stayed 7 days and it was a delight, from a friendly easy welcome, our stay exceeded our already high expectations Our room was large, a huge firm bed, 4 windows, with shutters and blinds for a completely dark room. Bathroom was light and airy, the shower excellent, one of the best and we ONLY stay in 5 Stars today! Breakfast was easy, good coffee, any variation of a cooked breakfast in addition to cereal, fruit, bakeries and meat, truly outstanding, nothing was too much trouble Ficalho is SO convenient, just a 10 minute stroll into downtown Cascais, similarly no more than 10 minutes to the wonderful Marina, great bars, restaurants and cafe A solid 30 minute stroll along the beach to Estoril and with Ubers everywhere, easy, quick and cheap to get into Lisbon faster than a train and for not much more Overall, a wonderful week stay, the owners are attentive and yet offer serene privacy, whether hours by the pool or sat on the veranda enjoying tea and freshly made cake, or reading a book with a glass of wine in the evening, really a wonderful experience, Highly recommended

What an amazing place this is from the location, to private parking, the food (breakfast & homemade cakes) but the best thing is the owners & staff. These are such warm & welcoming people who can’t do enough for you. We didn’t want to leave for Porto but we will always think about these people, they truly are special!
