Glenwood Inn - Stroudsburg

Chose this location for a last miniute solo trip as I had stayed here before. This property is older and is still under renovation. If all you need is a bed and shower after a long hike, this will do. Bring toiletries. There are no dining/pool facilities onsite, but dining is close. Close to hiking trails. Quiet.

The hotel is in a great location, hiking biking and paddling are all nearby. The local restaurants are great, like the Sycamore Grill and Village Bakery for breakfast and lunch. The hotel is opening the pool in a few weeks, it is currently being renovated. Should open by early June, it is a outdoor pool with big deck and a hot tub. Tennis courts are nice too, Will come again for a 3 day weekend for more hiking, paddling and biking.

This place apparently had a fire in December 2024 and is only just starting to reopen. I figured something of the sort, because of the extremely low price, less than half what one-star hotels in the area were asking. The very friendly guy at the check-in told me the whole story. Positives? Low, low price, at least right now (Feb 2025). Conveniently located. Clean. Comfortable. Good HVAC. Mini fridge in room. Negatives? Probably due to construction, but the hot water in the shower was barely warm (and it's February). The TV didn't work. Oh, it turned on, but wasn't actually hooked up to any service. Construction equipment right outside the door in the morning (they're still clearing away a partially burned building). Luckily, I wasn't intending to sleep late. Absolutely no other amenities, no ice machine, no vending machines, and no staff that I ever saw except for the check-in guy who wasn't actually there. A sign instructs you to call him when you arrive. I didn't mind any or the above, but I'm pretty sure someone looking for a family-stay or a romantic getaway would not have had the best of times. And, I really loved paying half price or probably even less than what they charged pre-fire.

Bring your own towels and soap,shampoo. There is no functional pool. The AC works well.

The indoor pool is very nice, they even have a hot tub! The owners were very accommodating and the room itself had everything we needed. I would stay here again.

It was okay for the price. It’s a motel and the pool and hot tub are closed. The property is aging and doors were hard to open and close. Also they only providing one towel for 2 people for two nights.

The rooms are clean. The pool and hot tub is great. The showers in the pool area were unusable. A group had reserved the pool when we wanted to use it so had to wait about 30 minutes. Did not expect any area to be off limits.

Allen was wonderful when he checked us in and answered all of our questions. Our room was clean and neat. The pool and the hot tub were awesome.

Upon arrival, this is a very interesting conference center. They definitely should disclose that their rooms do not look like the picture and that half of the property is pretty much abandoned, which I found fascinating but other people may not. I definitely wanna know the story as to why the other half is abandoned. The functioning part wasn’t terrible. The rooms are definitely very outdated. The woman at check-in was extremely sweet. There is no pool. It’s on the abandoned part.

The drive up might scare you a bit. But don’t let that stop you. It’s a pretty place to swim and close to the water gap. Worth the stay. Staff was extremely helpful and nice. Even keeping the pool open an extra hour so my children could swim. Awesome place don’t be scared. It’s a great place to stay. You’ll have allot of laughs about it.

Place was clean and people were very friendly but the bed was so hard I woke up with a back ache And could not stay the full three nights.

The property was very shabby and depressing. Moldy smells and broken items.

Came to get out of the rain from camping but would have preferred staying camping after one night here. Very strong smell of mildew it permeates everything including your clothes/hair. Files/bugs in the room which is not surprising given the picture below you can see the outside through the door. The person behind the front desk was wonderful and he was very helpful but not the place for us.

Run down and musty.

Very clean and comfortable. Handy to good restaurants and tourist spots. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Room was very clean. The beds were comfortable and it was very peaceful. They have a large property which keeps everything nice and quiet.

Bed bugs room 41 no wash rags went to front desk upon check out no one to be found. Sad because very nice guy checked me in i felt room was very clean but disappointed over being ate up by bed bugs.

This property was rather dirty overall. The heater didn’t work. We entered the room and it smelled like mildew in the room and on the bed. The water pressure was poor in the shower as well and was difficult to work (hard to pull out). There were some amenities (a couple towels, washcloths, and soap/shampoo and conditioner) but there were also 2 small packets of marmalade there which we didn’t bring in. Although the price was reasonable, the place could use some work in fixing some of the amenities and fixing some of the walls, and it should not smell like mildew in the room.

We had a poor experience at this motel. The gentleman who checked us it’s was very pleasant but that’s about where the positive points end. The room we got had mold in the shower and sink. The paint in the bathroom ceiling was peeling off and the light fixture had dead bugs in it. The blankets smelled like cheap perfume. There were hairs on the linens and towels; red and black- my whole party has brown hair. The lights were covered in dust. And the smoke alarm was missing. The entire property is dated for sure. I can’t knock em for that. The mini fridge in our room looked older than I am and it took well over a day to get cold (it was unplugged when we entered the room ). Very disappointing as we were traveling with a baby who needs her milk kept cold. One of the two beds was unusable. It completely sank in the middle. The other bed was fine and the pillows were surprisingly comfortable. Big and firm, not those faux fluffy ones that collapse to nothing when you put your head on it. We got the impression the property is in the middle of you updating. Our room had wood floors which was a happy surprise! And the TV was modern with a large option of channels. Free wifi is available with decent connection. We did not enjoy that the lock and chain on our door looked like it had been tampered with in the past. When we ordered delivery, our delivery driver expressed he didn’t realize the motel portion was even still in service anymore as he frequently delivers to the rental

Bedbugs in unit

My stay was not bad. At first glance the area did look rundown due to their being a large abandoned building right next to the inn. But the receptionist was pleasant. The room was clean for the most part. There were some paint stains in the jacuzzi and the blinds could use some cleaning but other than that it was fine. Was a little sad that we had a mini fridge but not a microwave. And the heating unit did take a little while to heat the room. But overall the stay wasn’t bad. I’d def recommend this place if you’re looking for something a little more affordable and don’t need all the bells and whistles that main stream hotels offer.

The property is fairly clean. It’s very dated. You are essentially sleeping in a trailer next to an abandoned building. My bed had a huge dip in the center. It served our purpose, but I would not go back or recommend.

Check in and out process was easy. Host was very polite. Somewhat confusing entering the property. Basic room accommodation, felt like a rustic cabin with insufficient lighting. Small refrigerator provided. Furniture could use updating. Slight odor, able to hear conversations from next door room, needs better door security. The simple key entry with a push lock (no deadbolt) and key chain made for an insecure feeling.

Very odd semi derelict conference center with wings of motel style rooms. Property was quiet, proprietor very friendly, room very dated but large and comfortable if you're used to budget motels.

An interesting place. Not for everyone; but with the old hotel, I found the site to be an adventurous place to stay. Price was very good and it was clean and has WiFI. I would stay there again.

The pictures online must be for renovated rooms. Our room (35) was very outdated. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the mattress was thin, the toilet wobbled, the entrance door rubbed against the frame and would screech every time we opened it and when we turned the heat on it smelled musty. Would not stay here again.

My room was clean and simple with a new floor and mattress, but with some old lamps and a spastic Tv set. My friend’s room needed some work. The place looks like it is slowly getting renovated and over time it should be better.

The hotel was not at all as advertised. The property was old and decrepit. The more recent renos were poorly done and only involved flooring. No bath towels were available, no telephone, no wifi (too weak a signal to hold), and the conference centre adjacent to the rooms should be condemned since it was not in use and clearly falling down. Overall, not at all in line with previous reviews that we read.

The inside was really nice and comfortable

Hotel looks like an abandoned place when you first drive in. My stay was was pretty good, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Hotel was pretty old fashion but I think all hotels in the mountains pretty much are. My issue was with the man that checked us in, he was fussing and upset about Expedia charging us only $61 for the hotel at 8pm, that’s it’s a ridiculous price when the hotel across the street charges over $140, which made my entire check in process very uncomfortable. Then he said make sure we check out before 11am which means 8am or 9am, the earlier the better. The only reason I didn’t go somewhere else was because it was pouring, I live 2 hours away and my night vision is horrible. I’m glad it was only 1 night.

The staff is super helpful. He showed me how to get to the room. When I left my electric toothbrush in my room, I called to see if they found it. They took the time to look for it for me and called me back as soon as they were able to locate it. I was fortunate enough to be back in the area and was able to swing by to retrieve my lost item. Super thankful for the staff responsiveness.

David the manager is very welcoming and provides top-notch service

Uncomfortable bed, antiquated room, linens were stained , the check-in area is run down. The personnel was nice however didn’t speak English, it was a challenge , but she was sweet.

There is a Chinese man who is the front desk "attendant" and he is very RUDE... In the rooms he only place a small pack with a single shower soap and only 2 towels.. The incident: when we requested more soap and towels he became VIOLENT AND TOLD US NOT TO COME BACK TO "HIS" HOTEL ANYMORE!! ... AND later he yelled us when we have to show him the shower faucet was stocked!! And again he yelled us saying "don't come back here anymore!!!!

The owner was extremely kind and helpful. The room was clean which is a must. This is not the most up to date remodeled establishment, but that is not important to me. Everything was clean and we had what we needed! The price point for the area was what I was comfortable with for the weekend. My son loved the hot tub! I would definitely stay again if I am back in the area.

It is family owned and they are doing an amazing job. Check in was quick and easy. They even allowed us to view the room we would be staying in BEFORE they took our money. The property is very clean. Beautiful scenery. The fireplace is the shared space was breath taking. We had one issue with our heating system. We called the front desk and one of the owners was at our room in about 10 minutes and fixed it quickly. There was direct parking right outside our room door. There’s a fire pit available although we didn’t use it. The pool was available to us as well as a basketball court and tennis court.

This place is very safe. Someone else posted pictures of a building that’s not even in use.. This is an older hotel and you can tell they have done updates. It’s cozy, quiet, and very clean. We even wiped the floor and it’s spotless. Usually I bring my own sheets to hotels, but after inspecting the beds and mattresses, I felt comfortable using theirs. Check in was super easy, I was confused on where to go at first but it wasn’t hard to figure it out. The owner is VERY nice. I’m originally from this area but came back for a family get together and never knew about this place. My room is clean, smells nice, tv and WiFi are great, and the room itself is pretty big, water pressure in shower is awesome. Close to hiking and the river which is perfect for me and my dogs. I ended up booking an extra night. I feel super comfortable here. It’s on about 50 acres, so there’s lots of walking around if you have a pet. There is creek access but we didn’t go down there because it’s tick season. The pool is nice and open, unlike someone else said. 5 restaurants within 3 minutes as well as two gas stations, plus you’re 5 minutes away from Main Street Stroudsburg with a ton of places to eat, and grocery stores. I’ll be coming back. The prices are unbeatable for the location and size of the rooms.

This stay started out OK until a man dressed in street clothes, in a personal vehicle approached my girlfriend and told her she was considered an "additional guest" in a double room and that she would have to pay $20 cash in order to stay. It was a very strange encounter, we were given a refund and left. Expedia is also to blame as they advertise the double room for 2 guests, however they default to telling me the hotel may have its own policies. The property is near empty and verging on appearing totally abandoned bit we enjoyed that part and the rooms are clean. The property owner is intrusive, rude and way out of line. I have video of him telling me that he has my CC info and that he could charge whatever he wanted. He also claims that he doesn't accept Expedia reservations although he did for 2 out of 3 of our nights stays. All very strange and inconvenient. Find somewhere else to stay....although I cant imagine the doors to this place could be open much longer. Sad!

The person at the check-in made me pay an extra 21.80, stating that the reservation was made for only one person, and I needed to pay for my wife and 2 kids. I gave him $22 in cash and gave himself the change as a tip. He offered my wife and kids the use of the pool saying there were towels, when my wife came back to use the pool with my kids the same guy was yelling at my wife for using too many towels, then apologized because he thought we were "Mexican". We needed a break from a long trip on our way home and found this as an emergency stop to rest. I could not show the person at the desk my registration because of poor data/cell service. At least the pool was nice. PRINT YOUR REGISTRATION, DON'T GET SCAMMED LIKE I DID.

I’ve stayed here before and I felt safe being here alone this time around. This is a place where I can always stay in.

Excellent stay and budget friendly for a busy fall weekend in the Poconos. A comfortable alternative to other very expensive hotels on a Saturday night. Nice hilltop location, very quiet. Walking distance to multiple nice restaurants and coffee shops. Close to the AT for hikers, great hotel passing thru for motorcycles as you can park right at room. Very satisfied with the stay, thank you!

The hotel is off the beaten path but clean, comfortable, in a scenic location and the staff was top notch. Its old, but much more reasonably priced then the big names. I travel for a living so if you want a great value, look no further. I felt safe, the other guests were great as well. It is a very different setup then you are most likely used too. If you are expecting the Waldorf, take it down a bit. Don’t spend two to three times more when this place is 90% as good. It has wooden floors so they make a bit of noise but that is a very, very minor issue. Nice bathroom, hot water, clean, etc. also an indoor pool. It is attached to a cool old big hotel that I wanted to ask to see inside..:) Maybe next time as I would love to see a few of the rooms. Recommended!

Location is Nice and Quiet. Property Manager is Very Friendly With Good Stories to Tell. Felt Uneasy when leaving as 3 cars suddenly pulled up next to me - a bit scary. Pool is cold but overall nice and clean. Other than that a very nice place to stay.

A beautiful hidden gem in the Delaware water gap. Front desk clerk was friendly and accommodating. Very helpful. Gave us options on where to eat and things to do. Room is clean.

Property owner was very nice. Quiet simple place, no frills but all i need is a nice clean place. Had a refrigerator which i need when i travel.

Overnight for a work trip, this was a very comfortable room and a good value. Very convenient, yet secluded and quiet. Would stay again, with extra time to explore the grounds and enjoy the amenities.
