Sleep Inn & Suites Ames near ISU Campus

I stay here mainly for work and it’s always a great place to stay. This time I was in town for a family matter and multiple members of our family stayed here too. Some used the gym, which they liked. Also there are multiple areas to run outside which was nice for the runners of the family. We gathered in the lobby area a night and the area was big enough to accommodate our big family. We all would stay here again.

Not alot of parking in the lot

Swimming pool was cold and hot tub was empty.

The pool and hot tub are charming. We liked that the Pizza Arcade was in the same parking lot as the hotel.

This is our goto spot for Iowa state football games. It is easy to get to after the game and has a nice breakfast the next morning. Staff is always nice and helpful. The hot has never had water in it any of the times we have been there and the gym has few items and the tv is stick on cnn

We only spend two nights, the breakfast is not the best at it seems that it went from the box to the microwave out to the dining area but for the cost per night I can’t complain. Also, the gym is small but good enough. The only thing is that they don’t have mats to lay on the floor if you want to stretch or do other work out.

The hotel was clean and quick check in and out. The pool was very small and hot tub did not work.

Im not very happy that there is no business center, especially because there website states there is.

Came over from Illinois for college orientation … found out pool was closed was unhappy that I was not notified as that and having a hot tub was one of the reasons I chose to stay at your facility. I knew we would be very tired and want to relax in the hot tub or pool after a long day at the college

Everything was great at the Sleep Inn. After an Iowa State evening game, parking lot was full! No problem, we were directed by the Front Desk Staff.

Dirty carpeting, bad smells throughout the hotel and in room.

Room was clean and comfortable. Check-in quick and easy. Good breakfast.

This hotel is very easy to get to and easy to get to other places in Ames. Check-in was very easy and pleasant. The hotel is very clean. The room was very clean and modern. We didn't use them for a one night stay but the microwave and refrigerator are nice to have. The bathroom was modern and had a nice walk-in shower. The breakfast included was also great. Lots of choices - biscuits & gravy were good as well as the Belgium waffle. We would definitely stay here again. It was budget friendly also.

The main level and second level smelled like cat urine. Some how the smell was not in the room.

This was a typical hotel of it's kind. The rooms were large enough, there was a frig and toiletries were provided. Reakfast was adequate. The carpets in the hallway were full of spots and staind and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time.

Room 213 stunk of mildew and carpet was soaking wet. Refunded my money however they had no other room to put me in. Being move in week at Iowa State made it real fun trying to find a room.

Very clean, good breakfast, comfortable rooms and beds. A great stay.

Hotel its ok and very convenient, but my complain is the hallway carpets where dirty and had a bad smell. Stains all over the carpets

The hotel seemed ok when we arrived. The grounds seem safe and clean. When you walk in the lobby you smell a slightly off putting scent of mildew. We get checked in and that went well and the overnight lady was friendly. We got to our floor and the elevator opens and the carpet is stained and you smell a little more of that mildew scent. We walked in our room and dear god almighty that smell was strong. It was a musty moldy kitty litter smell. We cranked the air and must’ve started getting more used to the smell because I went to bed as it was late. My husband was unable to sleep all through the night and it set off his asthma by morning. He went down to the desk and complained about the smell. They said the manager would be in at 7 and gave him some spray to try in the room. And said they’ve had this issue before. He comes to the room and I’ve got ready for the day and packed our things all up in case we eventually were switched to a new room. We left for a few hours for a planned event and when we got back the new desk clerk assigned us a new room. That room smelled fine. We cross paths with her and she is heading to the previous room with baking soda. Hours later we get back and the new room REEKS. It’s coming from the AC. We shut it off and slept with the windows open. I would never stay there again. No towel bar in the bathroom so your towel has to sit on the floor for after your shower. Very glad to be home.

Great staff- room was excellent.bed is very comfortable and pillows were outstanding. Bathroom was awesome- towels were fantastic. Easy chair very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Great selection .

A note of caution, it is very noisy if you have a room over the pool.

I got such a good deal that I was worried it might not be very nice, but it was so nice! Very comfy and clean. Only problem I had was that the TV and the internet didn't work the first night and no one was able to fix the internet problem. the next morning, the gal at the front desk gave me the staff login which I think was the right thing to do so all was resolved.

Location was good for camp at ISU. We were on 2nd floor and could hear everything moving over us and also next to us we could hear almost everything being said. Didn’t seem the walls or floors were very well insulated. Beds very comfortable! Breakfast was good just basic hotel breakfast. All staff very friendly especially Nancy at front desk.

The WiFi irritatingly requires you to reconnect every few hours and it requires you to watch a “sponsor” video. Very irritating. Also the hot tub has a 5 minute timer…..very relaxing….5 minutes at a time!

It was an OK hotel but the beds were a little uncomfortable and it was hard to regulate the temp in the room.

It was situated outside the town in a quiet area along decent sized streets to access the college. I was supposed to be able to work from this hotel, but the internet service that was promised was spotty, undependable, and hard to access. You had to jump through hoops and watch their commercial for a crumby 10bps speed internet. Not really what was advertised.

Clean facilities with good service but walls are thin, we could hear basic conversations in the next room.

The people working there were very nice, and helpful. They also had the breakfast area clean and well stocked, with the hot items well attended and fresh. The room was excellent as well, as it was clean and the lights and appliances were all working as they should.

First of all let me say the staff were very nice and helpful, but the problem was there weren’t enough of them. The front desk was not occupied after like 7pm and yet the doors are wide open. Security issue to say the least. No one at the hotel to assist in dealing with individuals partying at 2am. Called front desk and transferred to main customer service for chain with no ability to assist. I know the breakfast at hotels can be somewhat suspect, but we previously haven’t had any issues with this hotel. Unfortunately that was not the case. Ran out of eggs and sausage both mornings we were there. Both eggs and sausages were overcooked. Waffles are always a hit! It appears there was a drastic shortage of staff which contributed to the challenging stay. With our prior track record there I would go back, but there are so many other options in Ames now that it’s obvious they have to get this situation remedied quickly.

Prior to arrival I had the pleasure to speak with Trish about my upcoming arrival. She was very professional, helpful and patient while we worked through the room reservations we had for our basketball team. Upon arrival Hailey was so kind and checked us in nice and quick. Thank you both for your kindness and great hospitality!

Flight was delayed. I properly called and notified the front desk that I will be checking in after 3 AM and was assured that I could check in anytime and was assured they had left a note in their system about my late arrival. I arrived after several hours of travel and flight delays and landed at the hotel at 3:30 AM. Front desk employee said she had made my booking as a ‘No Show’ and would be able to assign a room as per my previous booking and asked me to book a new reservation as a ‘walk-in’ at a much higher rate (and I would lose the previous booking too). This was happening at 4 AM. But, I stood my ground. She made few phone calls and after a nearly 30 min wait time, gave me a room. I was so tired to sleep. No mood to even speak anything at the desk and finally crashed at 5 AM. In the morning, went down for coffee, my card did not work when returned. Had to go down and get different keys. Terrible experience overall.

Everything was clean and well maintained. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful!

Everything was good besides the housekeeping. Each morning these people tried to enter my room without my consent at 9AM while I was sleeping. I had the door locked using both locks so they couldn’t get in, but in my opinion it was weird. I had the dnd door hanger on as well but that did not stop them. Not sure what was going on with the housekeeping but everything else was awesome.

I’m beyond disgusted and disappointed by the staff at this hotel. I was double charged for incidentals upon check in by Julie at the front desk and then when I realized it she was suddenly gone and Sue had replaced her. Sue called the manager, who of course wasn’t there because why would a manager be onsite. The manager wouldn’t do anything even though Sue had already admitted that what they did was wrong. I immediately asked to cancel the reservation and turned the keys over to Sue. I didn’t stay the night or even unpack. I was told by the agent at Hotels.com “customer service” that they could only process a refund if the hotel agreed that what they did was wrong. Now I’m being told the hotel is not cooperating and I won’t be refunded. This is ridiculous and no way to run a business.

We stayed for a football game. The room was clean and newer looking. Easy access to the bus line. Breakfast was decent.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was great and the hot breakfast was an added plus. It’s not far from Iowa State. Would definitely stay here again when in town for a game

Well maintained hotel not the ritz but definitely not a motel . Friendly staff .dollar tree and gas station / store very close . Definitely need transportation to get to university/ downtown area but very safe and for the price worth it .

Being so close to the ISU campus and having the bowling alley next door was a nice perk! Gave us something to do in the down time...will stay there again!

It was conveniently close to ISU campus and entertainment. But the hotel had a very strong unpleasant smell through out and the breakfast area was not very sanitary nor did it have much to offer when we were there. The remote to our TV was broken and the blankets were stained. Considering how much we paid for what we got, I was not happy with the cost/hotel overall. But it wasnt totally unpleasant.

The room was very clean and bathroom had a great shower with shampoo and rinse! The breakfast was great also.
