The shuttle driver who picked me up in town and took me to the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly. It was a great first impression. It was the only good impression unfortunately. Check in was awkward. The room was okay but could have used a better clean. The property itself was run down and most of the dining and amenities were shut down. Pool was closed by 6 as was the pool bar and restaurant, leaving only the cafe as an option unless I wanted to walk at least a mile round trip. The included kayaks/paddle boards looked like they been through a war, as did the 6-7 bikes they had. The friendly shuttle driver did drive me a half mile away to rent a bike from Aldo’s for free for the day though, but then I had to walk the half mile back to the property after (it’s quite hilly). Block Island was lovely, but I would not stay at Champlin’s again.

Staff was not welcoming at all and gave me a room way out back with a huge set of stairs and no parking adjacent. The room smelled like a chlorine gas chamber and I had to beg to get them to change it. I had to traverse 16 set of stairs to get a bucket of ice because the feeble one they have in the lobby doesn't produce much ice. They need to do a better job of letting guests know about the amenities. I specifically asked for an easier to access room so I wouldn't have to carry my luggage and my dog up and down huge stairs. They didn't even offer a cart to make it easier. No valet service whatsoever. Once we got over all these major hurdles the room was clean and nice. I won't be back because for the price it wasn't worth it.

Great spot. A little dated but hey it’s new england mom and pop. Lots to do, nice pool, staff was friendly other than front desk girl. Seems a happier face there would do wonders for the branding identity

There were a lot of rude patrons and it was a struggle to get to the parking lot. People made us back out even though we were 3/4 away down the road the one car width road- we were forced to back out with high beams in our face. There was a huge gap between our door and the entryway and at night bugs were crawling through the hole. I reached out on Hotels.com and the virtual assistant to ask for towels to block the gap in the door and no one responded to me. It is a great place to say if you want like a destination experience where there’s a pool there’s a café. There’s freedom for the kids to roam around. You don’t actually have to leave Champlin Marina at all. I have been coming here from 40 years and there’s definitely some great upgrades, but there were some concerns with Pat Ron behavior and cracks in the door letting bug bugs in.

The pool has mold in it, Google said there was free breakfast but that was not offered. If you want to pay $20 for a burger and two fries you should try the restaurant near the pool.
