I don't want to come across like I hated this place. I didn't, but I'm not sure why the ratings are so high for it. Location is fine as it's within reasonable walking distance of downtown. BUT the grounds could use some landscaping.Things throughout, like the birdhouse in the back, bridgs around the pond and other area throughout, could use some serious touching up. The pictures show a much better view of it than what's actually viewed in reality. Ut really no surprise there. It's got some cozy aspects, given it's old architecture accents. Parking is very limited. If you leave a spot, be sure you are aware that you probably won't get it back. All in all, I do not feel this particular establishment is worth the very high amount of money charged just for the convenience of location. We ended up with a room without a back porch/patio. Though to be honest, it wasn't listed as having a patio in the listing anyway. It's just funny that it was one of the VERY few - maybe the only room - without one. Also, our room just happened to have a floor above it (penthouse, perhaps?) and every foot step above was amplified into our room. Sleep was interrupted constantly. For anyone looking to stay in the area, should seriously consider alternate establishments in the area that are just down the road toward downtown. If you are looking to just throw away some money, then by all means, stay at this one. Note: Two good postitive points about the place is the area in the back

Super clean, spacious room, comfortable beds and if it hadn’t been raining it would’ve been super easy to walk to the shops and restaurants! Looking forward to our next stay!

Very disappointing, cleanliness and condition of the rooms were unacceptable. Unfortunately, our stay at the Village Inn in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked toward our room, we were concerned about the cleanliness and overall condition of the property. The doormats to all the rooms we passed were filthy – trash and hair covered, as though they had not been swept for days or weeks. The wood-slated screen doors were stained and mold covered. When we opened the door to the first room given, we were immediately overwhelmed by a strong musty and urine-smelling odor. Inside, there were visible dust bunnies on the floor and dust on the furniture and drapes. The furniture also had large stains. The bathroom was extremely small and smelly, with virtually no place to put our personal belongings. The bathroom drapery had a thick layer of dust on it. The bathroom floor and shower floor were unclean and the tiles laced with mold and mildew. Because we were so uncomfortable with the condition of the property and room, we immediately contacted the hotel clerk and let her know that the room was unacceptable and that we did not want to stay there. However, after consulting the hotel manager, the desk clerk told us that we could not receive a refund for the full three nights of our trip. We stayed one night and checked out before 11 o’clock the next morning. This was so disappointing that we ended our trip to Blowing Rock and went home.
