Hotel Esperia

A good stay in a basic budget hotel. The place is a bit torn but OK. Bed was a little hard and pillow lumpy.

Er was geen ontbijt voorzien. Handdoeken in slechte staat met gaten in. Verouderde kamers.

Foul weather caused our British Airlines flight to divert to the little town of Bari. We were a plane full of holiday travelers just off-loaded at 8 pm and told by BA - here is your luggage, we will leave in 12 hours, good luck finding accommodations for yourself. Using Expedia I was able to get a room at this hotel pretty quickly. Others in flight not so lucky, hotels were booking up fast as our flight was not the only unexpected aircraft to divert to Bari. Baggage, Customs and an insanely long taxi line meant we did not get to hotel until almost 2am. Hotel staff was wonderful- communicated with us by phone, assured us doors would be open for our late arrival, beds were clean and comfortable enough for weary travelers. They kindly made us all wonderful coffee in the morning before our taxi arrived to get us back to airport . So appreciated their hospitality in an unfortunate situation. Other travelers had not been as lucky as us. We found out many just slept in airport overnight or travelled 45 minutes outside of Bari to get a hotel room.
