The tax is based on the accommodation fee and is charged per person per night. The tax rates are as follows: Over ¥20,000: ¥100 ¥20,000 to ¥50,000: ¥200 Over ¥50,000: ¥500 Additionally, each municipality may impose an extra charge of ¥100 to ¥2,000 per person per night on top of the Hokkaido accommodation tax. The accommodation fee includes the room charge and service fees, but excludes meal charges and consumption tax.
