This property is in a nice quiet spot with parking and continental breakfast. Bedroom was adequate, comfy big bed although only a shower in the bath, not able to stand up in shower. Easy walking distance of the village and train station. Wish we had more time to explore the area and would have happily have stayed longer if we were able to.

Helt greit sted. Gammelt bygg som ligger litt etter med vedlikehold. Grei parkering og helt ok frokost. Kort vei å gå til jernbane og gratis tog til Interlaken. Stille og rolig område, bortsett fra kirkeklokken som slo hvert 15. minutt

This hotel was only a 3 minute walk to the train. If you do have a car, parking here is very convenient. Our room was in front of the river running past and next door to the church. It was a great place for sleeping and the beds and room were very comfortable. Breakfast was good. There is NO interaction with the owners, you just come and go with your key.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot water for showers. Only 10 minute bus/train into Interlaken, bus stop is very close walking distance to property. Hotel is right by the river and you can listen to the river at night- lovely! Breakfast was great. I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Interlaken.

We were never greeted on check in or during our 2 day stay. Staff were very unwelcoming. The bathroom shower drain was extremely slow causing water buildup, the light level was very poor, the door wouldn’t close properly, and the shower head was broken. The 2 chairs in the room were very musty and VERY uncomfortable. However, the breakfast was good. Bottom line — we would neither recommend this hotel or ever stay here again.

I’m pretty sure this is a family ran hotel. First, you open the door and get a musty smell in the air. Next, you go up the stairs into your room and there’s no AC, there isn’t even a screen window and there are lots of mosquitoes. At night you’ll be sweating because of the humid heat. Also, the boss has a really bad attitude. This was the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at in our 20 days in Europe. It's very frustrating.

The church-view on the other side and periodical chiming of church bells made the stay surreal. Beautiful boutique hotel, well maintained and run by a family with superb connectivity and just few minutes away to Interlaken city-centre, with an awesome array of breakfast. Just a wonderful experience of a lifetime, backdrop of the Swiss Alps with picture post-card look. 100% recommended for a memorable stay.

We are on what they call the 1st floor, but essentially it’s half basement. The faucet in the sink of the bathroom can’t be turned off fully and kept water running; shower walls leak water out onto the floor. The room is very small!

The hotel location is excellent, especially if you have a river view room. There are limited to no shopping/ food options so the included breakfast was super helpful. The train station is a short walk away so it was easy to travel to the central Interlaken ost station in ~6 mins. The room was tiny and the bathroom didn't feel well ventilated despite having a ventilator. Probably an artefact of being an older stone-ish building.

Good location for our Interlaken visit. Short walk to the railway station. Breakfast was nice to get the day started. Rooms needed additional lighting and extra electrical outlets (especially one in the bathroom) would be nice. Tried to bring the lighting issue to managements attention but didn’t ever see someone to talk with during our 5 day visit.

Quiet area, easy access to the trains and exploring the sights. Very quaint Inn. Room was way to hot and leaving an outside door open all night invited bugs and uncomfortable. Even a fan in the room might get have helped. Poor lighting in the bathroom. Good breakfast l, homemade bread was amazing

My wife and I recently stayed at Historic Hotel Steinbock and were charmed by the antiquated decor, soothing river sounds, and bell chimes. The onsite staff were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experiences ended. From the outset, communication was unnecessarily confrontational. Despite having paid the required fees listed on my Expedia booking confirmation, I was harassed multiple times regarding an additional CHF 7 tourist tax. This tax was never mentioned in any of my booking confirmations, yet the manager insisted on it with an unprofessional and an aggressive tone. Furthermore, the handling of my complaint about the hotel's towel policy was appalling. Instead of addressing my concerns respectfully, I was rudely reprimanded and asked pay additional CHF 10 for new towels. This hostile approach is completely unacceptable. The manager even threatened to deny my wife and I breakfast and force an early departure if the CHF 7 was not paid immediately. Such threats create a hostile environment for guests. To make matters worse, the manager’s final message included nonsensical text, which indicates a lack of seriousness and professionalism in handling guest communications. Overall, my experience was marred by unprofessionalism and a lack of basic customer service skills. I strongly advise future guests to reconsider staying at this establishment until significant improvements are made. Sincerely, Romin Parekh

It's a beautiful, small, peaceful hotel. Loved walking thru the village to get there. The breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful. I would recommend it to everyone I know. Wish I had more time there.

Very quiet, safe, beautiful neighbourhood! Must see neighbourhood in this area. Would stay again. Difficult to figure out how to check in initially, as the front door was locked and no entry instructions were left in the booking; but pressed an intercom button and was let in. Reception desk has limited hours, however there is a phone available at the desk to call a staff member to the desk, usually only takes a minute or two for this, so is still super convenient and easy! Wifi was good, bed was comfortable, shower had good pressure. Gorgeous building, very neat place to stay. Staff were friendly. Breakfast included, and was delicious, coffee as well. Close to train station, 2 stops (5 mins) into town, or a 30 minute walk. Such a gorgeous area, highly recommend. I totally would stay here again if in the area! And would recommend anyone to stay here too :)!

Scooby Doo hotel. Staff are not friendly. The gentleman could not speak English. He only spoke Ukrainian. Great bubbling brook outside. Reason I wouldn’t stay again is staff is flat out mean.

Good location for our Interlaken visit. Short walk to the railway station. Breakfast was nice to get the day started. Rooms needed additional lighting and extra electrical outlets (especially one in the bathroom) would be nice. Tried to bring the lighting issue to managements attention but didn’t ever see someone to talk with during our 5 day visit.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot water for showers. Only 10 minute bus/train into Interlaken, bus stop is very close walking distance to property. Hotel is right by the river and you can listen to the river at night- lovely! Breakfast was great. I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Interlaken.

The hotel location is excellent, especially if you have a river view room. There are limited to no shopping/ food options so the included breakfast was super helpful. The train station is a short walk away so it was easy to travel to the central Interlaken ost station in ~6 mins. The room was tiny and the bathroom didn't feel well ventilated despite having a ventilator. Probably an artefact of being an older stone-ish building.

This property is in a nice quiet spot with parking and continental breakfast. Bedroom was adequate, comfy big bed although only a shower in the bath, not able to stand up in shower. Easy walking distance of the village and train station. Wish we had more time to explore the area and would have happily have stayed longer if we were able to.

Very cute area with a beautiful view with surrounding mountains. Easy to get around but transportation tends to close early and taxis are costly. Enjoyed our stay but they serve the same exact breakfast every day. After the 3rd day, it starts to get old. Worth the price.

Yes, the room was spotless, the front view from the room of the running brook and the sound of serenity were unmatched. The church-view on the other side and periodical chiming of church bells made the stay surreal. Beautiful boutique hotel, well maintained and run by a family with superb connectivity and just few minutes away to Interlaken city-centre, with an awesome array of breakfast. Just a wonderful experience of a lifetime, backdrop of the Swiss Alps with picture post-card look. 100% recommended for a memorable stay.

This hotel was only a 3 minute walk to the train. If you do have a car, parking here is very convenient. Our room was in front of the river running past and next door to the church. It was a great place for sleeping and the beds and room were very comfortable. Breakfast was good. There is NO interaction with the owners, you just come and go with your key.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Clean rooms with river view. Walkable from the train station. Wonderful breakfast. Owner is super nice. He packed us some breakfast the previous night as we are leaving early the next morning. We will stay here again if we are in this area next time.

We were never greeted on check in or during our 2 day stay. Staff were very unwelcoming. The bathroom shower drain was extremely slow causing water buildup, the light level was very poor, the door wouldn’t close properly, and the shower head was broken. The 2 chairs in the room were very musty and VERY uncomfortable. However, the breakfast was good. Bottom line — we would neither recommend this hotel or ever stay here again.

Very quiet, safe, beautiful neighbourhood! Must see neighbourhood in this area. Would stay again. Difficult to figure out how to check in initially, as the front door was locked and no entry instructions were left in the booking; but pressed an intercom button and was let in. Reception desk has limited hours, however there is a phone available at the desk to call a staff member to the desk, usually only takes a minute or two for this, so is still super convenient and easy! Wifi was good, bed was comfortable, shower had good pressure. Gorgeous building, very neat place to stay. Staff were friendly. Breakfast included, and was delicious, coffee as well. Close to train station, 2 stops (5 mins) into town, or a 30 minute walk. Such a gorgeous area, highly recommend. I totally would stay here again if in the area! And would recommend anyone to stay here too :)!

L'hébergement n'a rien d'exceptionnel. Ça sent le vieux. Le petit déjeuner était très bon et très copieux. Le couple était très serviable et gentil pendant ce moment de petit déjeuner. Par contre, on se sent opprimé et menacé avec tous les avertissements affichés dans l'hôtel. Les menaces si on salit les serviettes, si on détériore telle ou telle chose. Les pénalités si on fait un check out trop tard avec une pénalité de 5 CHF par minute dépassée. C'est dommage, je pense qu'il est inutile d'être aussi menaçant, ça ne crée pas une atmosphère de bienvenue.

Quiet area, easy access to the trains and exploring the sights. Very quaint Inn. Room was way to hot and leaving an outside door open all night invited bugs and uncomfortable. Even a fan in the room might get have helped. Poor lighting in the bathroom. Good breakfast l, homemade bread was amazing

The room was cute and traditional and the breakfast was lovely. Freshly baked bread. The tv remote didn’t work, but that wasn’t a big deal as we were on an adventure holiday. I think that charging a fee for replacing towels shouldn’t have been included. It was rather hot in the room too without air con, but we had a balcony. Nice views. We loved our holiday.

Das Check-In ist ok. Dass noch nebst dem Zimmerpreis weitere CHF 100.- zu bezahlen sind als Garantie für fehlende oder beschädigte Objekte finde ich sehr seltsam. Das Zimmer war sauber, hatte keinen Haarföhn, sonst alles OK. Wo die nassen Hand- und Badetücher zum trocknen aufgehängt werden sollen, have ich nicht rausgefunden. Eine äusserliche Renovation wäre empfehlenswert.

In more than 30 years of international travel, during which I have visited over 50 countries and stayed at luxury, chain, and boutique hotels, this was by far the poorest hospitality experience I have encountered. The most troubling aspect of my stay was the conduct of the owner/manager. On a single day, I received more than 13 messages criticizing me for leaving the breakfast room at 10:08 a.m on Sunday, despite arriving at 9:38 AM (sign posted showed breakfast ends at 10:00 AM on weekend and 9:30 AM on weekdays). The hotel's posted signage states only that "breakfast ends at 10:00 a.m." It does not state that guests must finish eating and vacate the dining room by that time. When I pointed this out, I was told that guests are not allowed to enter after 9:15 a.m on weekdays. This policy is not posted anywhere, was never communicated at check-in, and appears to have been created during our conversation. More concerning was the tone and repeated stream of messages over what amounted to eight additional minutes in the breakfast room. The communication did not stop until I informed the owner that I intended to preserve and publicly share the conversation. The property also suffered from several other significant shortcomings: Bugs and flies were consistently present throughout the hotel. Guests were greeted with prominent notices threatening additional charges for requesting extra towels, despite the room being stocked with only two extremely worn, thin towels.

The rooms were rather small, but the historic character, location and the breakfast were all wonderful. I loved hearing the rushing river next door all night. Of course, there is no air conditioning, so the down comforters were not at all appropriate for the weather.
