Hyatt Vacation Club at the Welk, San Diego

Staff at lobby do not answer fast and keep transferirg calls until someone can answers your questions. Room clean but found spiderweb at windows and some trash under beds.

Lovely and well maintained resort. Staff is extremely helpful. Loved our time there.

We loved staying at The Welk! The rooms are HUGE and perfect for our needs. They were clean and well stocked. I requested a room close to a pool and they were able to accommodate that. Everyone was very friendly, all the way down to security. The pools were nice and our kids spent hours and hours at them during our week stay. We paid for a cabana for 2 different days. I'm so glad that when I booked it I was told that we would get a bag with snacks and a pool toy because the next day, we checked into our cabana and the girl didn't give us anything. I mentioned it and she said, oh yeah we don't have the bags right now but here is 2 bags of chips and 2 pops. I mentioned a pool toy and she handed me mermaid diver toys. Then when we got our second cababa 2 days later, we received a bag with not only soda, chips but waters and a beach ball. I was shocked we were supposed to get water too. I mentioned this to the guy what happened 2 days before and he apologize. He also checked on us a couple times during the day, when the first day, nobody checked on us. Two very different experiences with the cabana's. We ate at the main restaurant only once. The food was fine but the wait time to get our food was LONG. We mostly ate in our room. A grocery store and costco are not far. I love the location, only about 35 min from LegoLand, 45 min from San Diego Zoo / Beaches. The grounds are beautiful, it was quite. The beds were comfortable. We didn't particpate in any extra

Activities at the pool were not that great. Need more imagination with pool games and prizes. Otter pops are not very healthy and kids would rather have something memorable they can take home. Front desk staff were hanging out I. The back office while checking in was over 30 minutes with one person behind the desk. Pools and grounds are well maintained and beautiful. Beds were fine but furniture not comfortable at all … needs an upgrade. The Grill restaurant served my child a kids meal that was inedible… burnt to a crisp…she ate peanut butter and jelly at the villa out of desperation… I took pictures of it called and complained but no resolution. Asked for a late exit on Friday was told to call in the morning as the request is based on occupancy… called in the morning and was denied and told it was up to the cleaning department, called them and they said that was news to them. The gentleman called us back stating they changed their mind and we could have late ck out at 11:00. Stories don’t jive . That part was frustrating.

Rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. Jetted tub was amazing, washer and dryer had laundry soap and dryer sheets to wash wet clothes. Beds were so comfortable and patio was cool. Property is well maintained and managed. Pool was excellent for kids. Slide, splash pad, multiple pools and hot tub. Fireplace with live music in the evening. Boys loved doing the s’mores and playing ping pong. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. 10/10 recommend! We will be back for a longer stay. Ate dinner at the little cafe they have there. My husband got the braised ribs and it was phenomenal. Drinks were strong, you can purchase beer from pool area to help relax while watching the kids.
