Coolfont Resort

My jacuzzi in my room was pretty good and the Valentine’s Day dinner was great. The pool and hot tub at pool was amazing even if the hot tub didn’t seem to be fully functional. Would’ve liked the other amenities to be ready (some things seemed like under maintenance or things were being added) but I can see this resort is a great option for the area. Game room was cool too. Overall excellent. Will probably come again!

Beautiful lodge, restaurant and even a game room! Skeeball!!!

Went mid May and we loved it! We had an A frame and was very secluded. Perfect for ‘glamping’. There’s a brewery right across the road that was wonderful! The staff was awesome! They have a pool & hot tub (the hot tub didn’t get hot & the jets were mediocre). Overall 4.99/5. Also there’s a casino off the main lobby!

Stayed in a cabin and enjoyed being in the trees watching birds. Disappointed that the WiFi didn’t extend to my cabin, I had plans to catch up on my shows that I had downloaded. The hotel is being renovated and the restaurant was closed so if you stay earlier in the week like I did, I recommend bringing a meal, because nothing is open past 7pm except for the 7 Eleven. The pool house needs an upgrade and I imagine it will be next on the list.

The hosts and staff were lovely, the cabin was in a quiet forest full of mature 80 foot high trees. We loved the salt water pool. Our two teenagers enjoyed the game room in the main lodge. The restaurant was very well kept and inviting, with window views of the forest or the lake. We had a few minor complaints - the fridge in our room smelled like rotten fish. We chose to wait until check out to let them know since we didn’t put much in there. And the jacuzzi or hot tub were not functional, big bummer! Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would come again!

The pool area wasn't heated well and the water was on the chilly side. We did enjoy the uniqueness of the resort and everyone was super friendly.

Jonathon at the lobby desk made us feel welcome. Nice place on the woods. Nice pool.

My room was a king bed with a Jetted bathtub. I loved my room and it's location which overlooks the lake and had a private balcony. If you have trouble with steps, they have beautiful rooms on the first floor in the treetop lodge. I didn't get to see any of the cabin rentals because that's not my interest. The staff runs this place as a team. Jonathan checked me in and he was so cordial and helpful. He helped me bring my bags to the room and acclimated me to the property. Destiny and Alana took care of me every night for dinner and they treated me like family. Whatever you do, save room for Miss Harriet's desserts. I had the cheesecake almost nightly, and it was so decadent. Their gym needs some new equipment and some repairs to their treadmills but I was able to use the small barbells and get into the salt water pool daily to get my exercise. They just dredged the lake and it is filling up 6 inches a day and I'm so excited, that next month when I return to Berkeley Springs, I'll be able to go kayaking. I came here so stressed (inside my guts's) and I'm leaving here so relaxed and feeling pampered. It literally took me five minutes to drive into town to go to a local spa, the salt cave, and Charlotte's café. This is my favorite day trip and now it's just become my favorite trip. Hands-down, the best!

Property was very misleading. Beautiful Lake View on their website and paid for a Lake View Room and got there and there was no lake, just mud and no water. Hot Tub on Property was not even set up or working. Salt Pool was very cool water and not enjoyable. The cost for this property should have matched what was actually going on at this property. Food was good at the Restaurant.

Loved staying at the cabins! Close and convenient to the restaurants. The pool area was nice and clean, although the hot tub was out of order.

Place could be beautiful if it was updated. Had to buy airfreshners for both rooms to cover the musty smell from old furniture and 70s shag carpet. Dining area has that not clean snell an update would help or a deep cleaning. Fruit flies in the carrots on salad bar. Not that we watch TV on vacation but the olympics are on and we had to watch on our phones. Help finally came on our last night which it still didnt help An over all update would be good. Main building looks abandoned since they dont turn on lights in front part so it looks closed.. On the upside was able to see deer with 3 fawns and a nice buck.

The room was very clean and maintained. Call early to make sure you arrive before the front office closes.

Disappointed beyond words. If a resort is going to not have a restaurant available when that is one of the main amenities then that should be disclosed before arrival. Rooms displayed crumbs, unknown items that my dog found and ate, blood stained mattresses on pullout, pealing paint in the bathroom and gave a “I’m a poor college student vibe”. When checking out and expressed my disappointment there wasn’t any concern, “I’ll pass it along”

Welcoming and friendly front office staff. The room cabin was spotless and warm. The beds were of 5-star quality! Can't wait to go back!

I was really looking forward to returning to coolfont. But, the rooms were very damp and smelled of mold. We only stayed for 30 minutes, then checked out because of the condition of the rooms. I requested a refund.

The picture and description of this resort don't do it justice. This place was excellent. This was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in, it was spotless!! Furnishings weren't the most up to date, but they were acceptable. I will 100% stay here again.

Pretty location, pleasant cabin, very comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. Living area furniture was pretty in comfortable, and climate control unit in one bedroom was ridiculously loud.

When I made reservation, I thought I was getting a private cabin somewhere on the property. Turns out, my wife and I were staying in a standard room located in the main building @ $241. Staff was very friendly, the place clean, and the main building beautifully outfitted with wood from floor to ceiling. After we checked-in, we literally walked past the kitchen (we could see orders up and ready for customers); that was rather off-putting but it’s the building layout so whatever. Our room was spacious and had a jetted tub in the actual room; kind of nice as we could look out the window and we weren’t in a cramped bathroom. The room itself was okay, nothing notable save whoever painted the trim didn’t prime it first as all the knots in the wood bled through and it looked as through the room still needed work. Wife and I decided to eat in the restaurant on the grounds which was a 30 second walk (back past the open kitchen doors). Good selection was largely bar food with all meals listed in the 4 page menu; we weren’t blown away by the food or service and we aren’t really hard to please. For as nice as the restaurant bar area looks (in pictures and in person), several guys walked in wearing their short sleeve work shirts, one dude can in with a sleeveless shirtsleeve shirt… We enjoy our stay, I guess; it was time away from our teenage boys and zoo-worth of animals but we won’t stay here again and surely will fine somewhere else to eat when we return to Berkeley Springs.

Love the cleanliness, atmosphere and having a fireplace in the room. Very Spacious. Will come back again.

Very over priced and out dated. Room with view had dirty windows. Walls were so thin could hear the people next door snoring and talking. No elevator, had to carry own bags up two flights of stairs. Cabins outside of main building were scary at night to walk to. Would stay somewhere else next time.

Enjoyed our getaway at this location, but wanted to share some tips that weren't on the site. There is NO wifi or tv in the cabins. And they can be tough to find if you're arriving at night. Also, the cabins are not equipped with real dishes, or things like corkscrews, but they're looking to add them. Also the jets in the bathroom jacuzzi didn't work. As of May 2025, the restaurant and bar is still closed after a Jan. fire, but that's also not noted anywhere on the site when making a reservation. All in all, had we known what to expect, we could have been better prepared, and we did enjoy the space!

Lovely location. Adequate room. Did not expect stairs. Reserved a suite and got just a room but it was clean and comfortable. Adequate, not special.

The "resort" was very woodsy which we can appreciate and was fine as we live on a mountain in Maryland. We traveled to this destiniation to go horseback riding in the Cacapon State Park. The ride was very nice as were the people operating the business. A disappointing event was when my wife upon returning to checkout, informed the desk person that the fan in the bathroom didn't work. The reply was that there are a lot of those fans that don't work and she didn't make any note for maintenance... we felt that the courteous report was met with indifference.

My husband and I stay at this location frequently. It is lovely. We have never had a bad experience. Our pup loves it too. Great food and losging.

We wanted to eat in the lodge restaurant for dinner. We were sat right away but after 15 minutes of waiting without a single person coming to the table, we left. We did try to get a server’s attention but no luck. (2 were talking at the hostess stand, 1 to the bartender and 1 was talking to a table that was finished eating) We went back for the included breakfast, we had to ask for a menu, 1st plate they brought my husband was totally wrong and then the correct one was cold

My wife and myself loved the place. The room was all new and very clean. If you want to get away to unwind this is tge place. The restaurant was top notch food and the staff very friendly.

I’ve stayed here a few times and had a great time till this time guy at front desk was rude are patio was covered in tree garbage. Asked if it hard could be clear off and cleaned man said it’s cleaned everyday and questioned us on why we thought it was dirty and only one waitress in the restaurant felt sorry for her

Staff was kind some of the facilities are updated but pool wasn’t anything special and jacuzzi was cold. There was and electrical fire while we were there smelled awful of smoke and no one said anything or offered a refund. Then one morning we woke up with no hot water again no compensation was offered which was disappointing.

Exceptional staff! They really make you feel warm and welcome. Berkeley Springs has so many beautiful things to offer and the resort does great highlighting everything it offers. The restaurant attached to the restaurant is incredible, great food and service. The bartender knows how to whip up a drink and will tell you the best stories. This place is worth it.

We had a great experience at the property the male receptionist was awesome the first day. He showed us around and was very nice. The pool on property was clean. The cabins were cute and quant decorated with fall decor. Food in the restaurant at Coolfont was good. There is a pond with a fountain we took an evening still around with our dog and kids. It was great! However, when checking out the female receptionist was a little rude. Other than that we will be back it was a beautiful pit stop on our drive back from Virginia Beach to Buffalo NY.

What a great experience at Coolfont Resort! The staff was really great-helpful and friendly. The cabin was perfect for us. The only thing missing was a coffee cup. Just a mention...there is a lot of "empty space" in the cabin. It looks exactly like the pictures, had everything it said but I wonder if there would be room for a small couch or sitting chair and/or storage in the bathroom. Its spacious, clean, neat and comfortable the way it is but having just a little more might be great!

Great stay, Great Location.

Nice place to stay. Right in the mountains of WV... Leaves were beautiful. The resort bar was great... Awesome prices for drinks. Went to the BBQ house across the street for dinner... Also very good.

Coolfont is in a beautiful country setting. We have stayed before in the main building, which was very nice, but this time we stayed in Woodland House, across the road from the main building. There were very few other people in the building, which was nice. It was very, very quiet, and we enjoyed sitting on our little balcony, which was well shaded by huge maple trees. We could see the little lake across the road, and we could walk to both the brewpub and the hotel restaurant, which was nice. There is also a little shop where one can buy snacks that are not exorbitantly priced, as is often the case in a hotel. All of the staff, without exception, were very friendly and nice. The food in the restaurant is good, and reasonably priced. We had a very relaxing weekend, and we will definitely be back!

In the woods by a stream and lake beside a hill side full of trees.

The front desk staff were AMAZING. The check in process was easy and inviting. There was a nice warm and inviting fire going in the lobby which made it so cozy and warm. My view from my room was beautiful. The only downsides to the property, and maybe i did not pay attention, is the pool was a short walk from the hotel and outdoors. That may not be a huge deal in the summer. However, i didn't feel like walking or driving over to the pool in the colder weather so i didn't use it. Another downfall was the water temperature in the room. It was OK in the in-room jetted tub but was coolish in the shower. Last but not least, the room was a little pricy for winter. There's quite a drive to get to the town and too chily to do anything on the property. I obviously booked but expected to be able to do more. I would love to come back in warmer months and enjoy the property and town more.

We stayed at the Clover cabin, which was great. It was simple but clean, comfortable, quiet and cozy. The only downside was that the sauna and jacuzzi at the pool were under maintenance so we couldn’t used it. Breakfast at the Treetop restaurant was very nice and greatly priced.

The scenery was gorgeous and a short drive into Berkeley Springs. Although the deluxe cabin had comfortable furniture, there were no extra supplies (toilet tissue and paper towels). There were no Kleenex, no ice cube trays in the freezer, only one deck chair, no bedside lamps. Little ambience. The food at the restaurant food was also lacking. We will probably return sometime but will be prepared for the minimal furnishings and will not eat at the restaurant.

This is a very nice hotel in a peaceful, country setting. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and we had a nice balcony looking out onto the pond. The food and service in the restaurant were good, and the feee breakfast was generous and tasty. Coffee available all day was a nice touch.

The property is located in the mountains and the scenery is beautiful. Breakfast is not available until 8am and the on-site restaurant closed at 8 pm. Inconvenient hours when there are no other options near the resort
