Substantial modem clean rooms with comfortable beds. Great location for walking, uber, taxi and subway. Numerous amenities, including in-room safe, bar fridge, and rooftop pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to shopping and La Ramblas, cruise ship terminal, and Columbus monument. Highly recommend.

Good hotel, shame the roof top pool was closed due to government water restrictions but out of their control. Very noisy traffic and people outside all night and poor double glazing. Bad experience in restaurant where one meal arrived and other didn’t.

Everything was amazing. The staff were great and provided superb customer service. The only suggestion is the gym was not equipped with heavyweights to conduct my regular training routine. Other than that everything was great.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It locates at the metro of Paral-lel station which is nearby. We are family and we reserved a 3 beds room and it’s big and tidy. It has 2 basins with 2 bathtubs so it’s convenient to us. The breakfast is also good and they provide excellent variety of food. The swim pool is small and you can even swim. But in that hot season, it’s a good time to lower your temperature. The front desk and service are also brilliant and I highly recommended.

Vi fick ett rum på andra våningen men klagade för att var mycket bullrig. Damen i receptionen (Nikol trur jag att hon hette ) reagerade väldit snabb och vi fick en rum på 9 våningen. Hon hjälpte oss att kopplas till hottelets wifi eftersom vi ville inte få reklamer skickad till oss. Hottelet är lite sliten men det är väldit rent. Ligger utmärkt till Metro stationen .

Property was close to cruise terminal. They had a really nice roof top bar.

We had booked this hotel specifically because it had a rooftop pool. When we got there it was under repair and we were therefore unable to use it. It was very disappointing that we were not informed about this before we arrived. It made a big difference to our enjoyment of our stay.

Hotel located right in the heart of the city...easy access to most tourist sites. Staff wete friendly and rooms were very clean and daily cleaning maintained. Definitely a place ill come again.

Stayed here for a weekend break. Nice location for the beach and restaurants. Breakfast buffet was good. Clean and tidy.

Room was clean and kept clean the entire stay. Every one who worked here, to a person, was friendly and helpful. METRO entrance just feet from the entrance. Also within easy walking distance to major sites.

We stayed here for a week and found it minimally satisfactory. Pros about the hotel: very convenient location, right next to an L2 metro stop and within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the Gothic quarter; and a decent breakfast bar, including gluten-free bread, croissants and muffins upon request - worth the price if you buy it ahead of time for your full stay rather than one day at a time. Cons: the neighborhood is a bit seedy and down-in-the heels. The “superior” room: Liked that it had plenty of space, a comfortable king bed, blackout shades, combination safe, iron & ironing board, stocked refrigerator and TV that received several English-language channels (though not internet-enabled). Didn’t like that there was a lot of noise at all hours of day and night, both from the street and the hallways (this is a family-friendly hotel with LOTS of small children); no coffee pot, only a hot pot for tea and instant coffee – and after we drank the tea, the tea bags were not replaced; cleaning was hit-or-miss – they regularly forgot to replace soap, towels, toilet paper as necessary. Some disgusting prior guest had left chewing gum stuck to the drawer of the nightstand, and a full day after I alerted both management and cleaning staff to the problem, it was still there, so I had to remove it myself. Bathroom was clean and modern, but had low water pressure and no moisturizer. Overall, we would not stay here again.

Air condition was not heating, reception refused to change the room first, than they changed the room but there was no double bed as i reservated and they didnt bring it. Corridors were dirty. Hotel was not like the pictures, do not waste your money, book another hotel.

Good hotel in a good area. Metro station nearby and Ramblas is just a 5-10 min walk away. Room was a good size. I was happy with it. The only negatives were; -Wifi was bad!! Literally did not work on 8th floor. Had to use my own data. They could improve on that. -Toilets in reception could have been better. Not much space for people to freshen up seeing as check in is 3pm.

The hotel location is very good. The noise isolation of the room is terrible you can hear movements of the upper floor room and the street you feel you are in the street

There was no explanation, anywhere. Funny. When is breakfast, where is what etc. There was no slippers, no toothbrush, no water bottles in the room. Just a void. A big one, at least. Yes, the room was bigger than average and we loved that. But no windows, dark and claustrophobic. Overall, stuff was helpful and we could solve every tiny problem. P.S. Location was great.

È già la seconda volta che soggiorno presso questo hotel e non mi ha deluso anche a distanza di 10 anni. Tutto lo staff è cortese e gentile nessuno escluso l’albergo è comodissimo centrale sopra la stazione della metro di el paral el. Nel complesso potrei tranquillamente dire che potrei ritornarci l’unica pecca se così si può dire sono i cuscini delle camere che sono veramente troppo duri.

Fantastic location, tube stop right outside and walking distance to port, Las Ramblas, shops and restaurants. We were greeted by a fantastic male reception team member who was so helpful. Carlos was also fantastic too. It’s a nice touch to have fresh water and coffee making facilities in the reception area. The rooftop pool is brilliant, a nice bonus to have at the hotel. We had a triple room which was a fantastic size, lots of space and storage. The bathroom was okay but the one negative I would say is the noise within the room. The windows really need to be double glazed as the street outside is very noisy, especially on a Saturday evening. The noise went on until 5 am And it felt like we had the windows open with the level of noise. Personally for me, the bed was really uncomfortable and I didn’t sleep very well as it was very hard. I do feel that it’s expensive given these negative issues and also the third bed is a sofa bed not a natural proper bed and breakfast wasn’t included in that cost.

We have stayed at this property previously, and the room was awesome, with plenty of room, very quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately, this time the room we had (on the same floor but in different area) was not good. We heard every noise from neighboring rooms at all hours of the night so that was disappointing and disruptive, but it won't stop us from staying there again in the future if the opportunity arises.

So I booked this hotel and it said free parking as a perk for Platinum status with Hotels.com. Got there to find there was no parking. I found the lady at the desk very dismissive of any support I asked for. Also, I had left my wife in the car as I was expecting to park - I was made to fill out all of the details on an iPad which was not working well & kept typing the wrong letters and wouldn’t delete. I asked 4 times for help and wasn’t given any. Then - I was made to take the iPad out to the car to get my wife to sign - even though I had asked if we could do this when she actually made it into the hotel. There is a way of making people feel welcome at a hotel - and this wasn’t it. So clearly Hotels.com and the hotel need to clarify what they advertise as options between them - as I’m sure the blame will just turn into finger pointing. However, being supportive and helpful to a customer is the first bit. A male employee on the door guided to a parking area - which was a cost I handn’t factored under the circumstances. There were other hotels I would have chosen if I’d known this was going to be the case. Room was fine. Area was ok.

We stayed here for four nights and the staff could not have been lovelier. The hotel is modern, comfortable, safe, very clean and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was really nice with a fantastic array of both hot and cold foods, everything was fresh and tasty, couldn’t have been better. We loved everything about this hotel and felt completely at home but the highlight for us was the staff who were all so kind, professional and helpful. I don’t normally write reviews but we were both so impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff that they deserve a special mention. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. Front desk, easy check in. Housekeeping was very good too, with room checks done during the day. Needed a few shirts washed and ironed which was done quickly ( less than 24hours) and delivered by a lovely staff member. Well cared for building in a good location where walking is easy for the most part.

We stayed here over-night prior to departing the next day for a Princess Mediterranean 32 day cruise. Our checking was VERY slow considering we got to the check in person right away. We changed from a Superior Room and down-graded to an accessible room which seemed to cause the delayed check in. All together it took about 20 minutes to check in. No discount was offered for the requested downgrade. MY OVERALL RATING: I give it a mixed 3/4 out of 5. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Hotel is located about 25 minutes from BCN airport by cab which cost about 40 Euros. The hotel is conveniently located downtown and not far from the cruise ship terminals, Bathroom towels were "Motel 6" standard quality (surprising to see this low of quality of towels here considering the high price we paid for our room). Bedding was nothing exciting, Just plain-Jane. At check-in you produce your normal passport and credit card BUT they also want loads of personal information too on a iPad like your birthrate, street address, cell number, city, nationality, etc. More info requested than any other hotel we have stayed at world-wide. Our room was an "accessible room" or considered a handicap room. It had plenty of room to maneuver around in if using a wheelchair. Door opening to the room & bathroom were the perfect size. Mixed experience at Hotel Barcelona Universal. Prior to arrival, I sent three emails (two directly, one via Hotels.com) and only received one reply. The toilet didn't flush properly, and the bath-to-shower lever was broken. The TV remote had no back, and instead of replacing it, staff just changed the batteries. The in-room safe was locked on arrival and didn’t work properly even after staff intervention. The €16 continental breakfast felt overpriced, and Hotels.com offered it at €32 despite a solo booking. No non-slip bath mat—potential safety issue—and only wooden stirrers, no spoons, for drinks. The bathroom had a musty smell when the door was closed overnight, likely due to no window. Inside courtyard rooms are quieter but lack natural light, and open windows let in midges and cockroaches. One of three lifts was out of order. The minibar was very pricey. I was charged a €100 deposit and €6.25 per night tax (still not refunded). No English channels except Sky News. Some photos revealed holes in the bathroom—unsettling in today's climate. No instructions provided for Wi-Fi, air-con, or the safe. That said, housekeeping was excellent and prompt. The rooftop bar staff and the young man near the lift were friendly and welcoming. These issues are mostly minor but fixing them would greatly improve the stay for future guests.

I arrived in Barcelona very early in the morning. The hotel staff stored my luggage in a safe, locked location while I toured the city. Later when it was time to check in, the first room they put me in smelled of smoke. When I told them, they immediately relocated me to a different room that did not have any smoky odors. The staff was always pleasant and helpful for my entire stay.

Located on one of Barcelona's main thoroughfares, it can be reached by taxi from the airport in 20-30 minutes (depending on traffic), connects to the main city transport links, and is within easy walking distance of the city centre. There are many bars and restaurants nearby. The rooms are comfortable, fairly spacious and quiet. A good choice for a stay in the centre of Barcelona.

Ótimo hotel, muito bem localizado e bem em frente do metrô. Quartos confortáveis, equipe muito atenciosa. Tem um pouco de barulho da avenida movimentada que tem em frente, mas nada que chegue a prejudicar. Café da manhã excelente, com muitas opções de pratos frios e quentes.

The hotel is a good location for las Ramblas and port vell but the surrounding area is quite dark, dismal and everywhere is covered in lots of graffiti which is quite off putting. The hotel is extremely clean and the hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is a rare find like an oasis in a desert

Lovely hotel in a great location. I opted for the half board option and I highly recommend it. The breakfast buffet had lots of delicious and healthy options. Dinner was also great, with a buffet of starters and desserts and a choice of hot meals. There is a fabulous rooftop patio with lots of different seating options and great views.

Wonderful hotel to stay in Barcelona! Very convenient location to sightseeing at many famous sights and close to the seaside. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. In addition, the breakfast had a variety to choose from and the food was delicious.

Everything about the hotel is professional. The room was a great size. The food was better than most hotel restaurants I've been to. The breakfast bar was a great selection especially for someone who is gluten/dairy intolerant. Overall, can't wait to stay again.

Great location, 10 minute walk to Las Ramblas and outside metro station. Fab breakfast and roof terrace. Well equipped and clean room, loved the free sangria masterclass. The perfect short break location.

Restaurant mediocre bedding awful

Property is right outside the Parrell metro stop, go to the exit opposite the funicular. There was complimentary beer and wine tasting. It was only about 15 minutes walk from the waterfront. Rooftop had a great view of the city.
