Stayed here to catch early morning ferry. Needed to be nearby as we had to leave our hire car at the airport (phone the local taxi company number in the room guest book to travel the short distance back from the airport - there is no taxi rank or even taxi number out there). Easy 15min walk to terminal, though signage not great for foot passengers. We had a nice room facing out to water, well equipped and clean. On a Sunday night hotel bar and cafe closed and not much nearby if you have no car to go out to eat. Useful shop on corner to ‘self cater’. Hotel worked well for us and we’d definitely stay again.

We arrived off the ferry in the evening and the late self check in details worked well. The building is quite basic to look at but inside, the facilities were very clean and the bathroom/ kitchenette areas were very clean and modern. The room was also a decent size. When we turned on the air con unit the smell coming from the unit was terrible. The smell was like animal urine. We had it on for 3 minutes and the smell was horrific. We had to vent the room which made it cold. Consequently we left one day early and obviously lost our money. Would not recommend this motel.

The hotel is owned by Spirit of Tasmania and is well set up for travelers coming that way. Good breakfast pack for the morning. They have figured it out how to allow guests to arrive without someone being there for checkin and while disconcerting at first, it works quite well. Very appreciative of the front desk host who helped us sort a taxi to the airport. Also allowed us to have a slightly late check out- very kind!

Did not receive the room key access code for late check in by sms as promised as the reception closes at 7pm and there was no after hours contact number. Fortunately another patron was able to pass on the access code. I had no reply from Expedia either.

This place doesn’t impress from the outside and the lack of a human presence between 4 pm and 10am is strange to say the least in a hospitality venue. However the check in and out was without incident. The whole place was extremely clean and quiet. There was a breakfast pack provided and the Spirit berth was a hop skip and a jump away. The incoming ship provided a reliable wake up call.

The stay was great. Check-in was after hours and quite late, still it went smooth & easy. The room was clean with all the amenieties. There was hardly any disturbance; it was quiet. The location was perfect to drop the car hire & get on the Spirit of Tasmania. Highly recommended.

Located next to the spirit of Tasmania terminal, it’s clean. It has gym which is great. The room is nice and clean, staff are very helpful and friendly but the room don’t have table and chair to do my paperwork and the bathroom make a lot of mess after shower, the water spread to all over the floor, the curtain in the shower is too short to prevent the water spread to all over the floor out side the bath room.

The Edgewater Hotel offers an extremely reasonably priced stay that is almost as close as you can get to the Spirit of Tasmania. It is clean, comfortable and convenient. You would need to drive around to Devonport itself to find a range of shops and restaurants.

Located next to the spirit of Tasmania terminal, it’s clean. It has gym which is great. The room is nice and clean, staff are very helpful and friendly but the room don’t have table and chair to do my paperwork and the bathroom make a lot of mess after shower, the water spread to all over the floor, the curtain in the shower is too short to prevent the water spread to all over the floor out side the bath room.
