We had booked this stay approximately 2 months prior, and spoken to the hotel staff a week prior to attending to add on extras to the room, flowers, champagne etc. No one had mentioned that one area of the hotel was undergoing renovations and there was quite major building work going ahead right next to our room. No one had mentioned the Hot tub in the spa wasn't working either, and had in fact been out of commission for some time, with it expected to be out of commission for several more months. Breakfast was a good standard for the buffet. The 1887 restaurant of an evening looks pretty, but the bench seats in the middle are well past their best, with one person falling through it! The actual food itself was average, which was way below expectations. My meal was cold, it got changed and then was served on a plate so hot the waiter had issues carrying it! Was almost like the chef was pissed off and getting revenge. For the price, the rooms were OK and breakfast was nice, the spa/gym facilities are below average, the restaurant is over priced and the food sub par for that price point. It is a magnificent building, and they obviously get their trade based upon that, although internal décor is tired with peeling paint etc. When we complained we were offered a free upgrade next time we stayed, or £24 off of our bill, the bill for the entire stay was approx £750 including food and drink. It is a shame, as this could be an amazing hotel with some care.

Lovely hotel with everything you need for a night away. We checked in and made use of the pool and jacuzzi straight away which is included in the price, although the leisure club is a little dated it was still nice. The room was clean and tidy with everything we needed and more than comfortable. Lovely restaurant and bar on site with a lovely outside to sit into the night. There’s also beautiful grounds to explore if you wish! Brilliant staff from check in, dining and check out. Would whole heartedly recommend.

Lovely 2 night break..excellent hotel with outstanding facilities. However we were disappointed that we were not told on booking that the jacuzzi would be out of action. Beautiful clean room and bathroom and good food in the restaurant.

Unexpected stay but very happy to have chosen this hotel. The gym/health club is a little tired and would benefit from a little renovation but it’s clear the hotel gets the love and care it needs and I’m sure the fitness club renovation will come soon.

We stayed as we were attending a wedding nearby. Lovely hotel & beautiful grounds. Staff in restaurant were lovely. Felt the swimming pool area needed some updates- it was ok but not the best for this style of hotel

A beautiful wedding venue and we were looked after so wonderfully. The staff were attentive at all times, nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyed the use of gym and spa facilities. Breakfast in restaurant was outstanding. Overall a fabulous weekend stay. Would highly recommend.

We made a return visit to Wotton House and were delighted with our stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the grounds were particularly enjoyable this time around. Can thoroughly recommend making a reservation on the tennis court, and the spa provide rackets and balls for free. The spa is small, but the staff take great care and attention to ensure that it is clean. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially joyful souls like Annalisa in reception.

Stunningly beautiful property, excellent service. Would have been 5 out of 5 if it wasn’t for the bar being understaffed. With wedding guests flooding the bar more staff were needed. The bar also closes at 11:30! It was also incredibly hot in the bedrooms but apparently the new manager is going to address this fitting air conditioning.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel and grounds. The staff go above and beyond and really do pay attention to detail (kids colouring tables, board games and wellies to hire, as well as a box of sticks for dogs!). I was dubious about taking my 6 year old twins as I wasn’t sure if the hotel was kid-friendly, but the staff made them feel so welcome and they even got free ice creams! The room was lovely. Clean, comfortable and light. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather, so sitting out on the terrace with a drink and the view of the grounds was pretty much perfection! Breakfast was also great (also some of the cooked food could have been hotter). Only downside was that the spa needs updating (steam room and changing rooms mainly) as there are signs of rust and paint deterioration. Despite this, all in all a fantastic family stay and we shall return!

The grounds are very lovely but overall the place is a bit shabby and tired and not particularly clean and tidy. The leisure complex is a nice feature but was again looking very tired. The room itself was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Wotton House is stunning—spotlessly clean with wonderful attention to detail. The staff were fantastic, and a special thank you to Kristina, who was absolutely lovely and made our stay feel extra special. Highly recommended!

Room was like a furnace, possibly hot water pipes running under or just the one small window. Bed and bathroom decent. Drink selection good and breakfast was excellent for a buffet. Did see a dead cockroach on the carpet of the main walkway which gave me pause, but by then I was checking out.

A great place to visit. Had a standard room that was a really good size. Carpet was a bit dirty and the radiator made a noise through most of the night. Other than this is was a perfect stay with polite and friendly staff

Wotton House is a beautiful historic property in stunning grounds. The rooms are clean but lack air conditioning. Fans are provided. Every member of staff that we met was very friendly and helpful. Each one went above and beyond what I would expect which is what makes the hotel so good. Breakfast was nice with good quality food and a wide selection to choose from. We will definitely be returning.

We really enjoyed the hotel, grounds and restaurant. Unfortunately we were in a very small room which was very hot and the property were unable to offer an alternative as the hotel was full. It was so hot in the room that it was unpleasant to be in there for too long. A fan was in the room and the small window was open but this did little to offset the heat.

Nice hotel. Good food in restaurant. We were in the accessible rooms on ground floor. Bathroom was nice but it was a wet room which didn’t drain properly. So entire bathroom floor was floating in water after shower. Apart from this was a nice stay.

Despite cool conditions outside, the room (on 2nd floor) was uncomfortably hot. Opened window and fan provided no restbite so it resulted in one of the worst nights stays. Poor explanations offered so we won’t be coming back. Very disappointing..,

Absolutely stunning grounds and hotel restaurant / morning room areas however my room was not great - it was over a split level which meant to bedroom was very small and hard to walk around the bed. There was one small window with a blind which covered half of it when fully pulled up and the window hence let very little light or fresh air in. The lighting overall in the room was dim to the point where I could not work at the desk and despite asking 4 times for a desk light they didn’t manage to supply one over a 3 day period. The bathroom had no ventilation meaning mould was growing around the window area. Such a shame as the rest of the hotel was beautiful, grounds are stunning - if I stayed again I would make sure I wasn’t in the same room!

Great but rooms are INCREDIBLY HOT. The weather wasn’t particularly hot but the rooms just seem to hold in heat. I had to move rooms and have a fan on. The hallway was considerably cooler. I considered sleeping with the door open! That said it may be because the rooms are over the pool / sauna. The food was very average. Staff and grounds were great!

We had a wonderful stay at Wotton House. It felt like such a treat, the staff made us feel very welcome. The room was spotless, spacious and the bed was very comfy. The hotel has several inviting spaces to relax and have a drink. We enjoyed the bar area and the Morning room looked very inviting with a roaring fire, if only we’d had more time. The breakfast was of a very high quality and there were so many options on offer. We were very impressed with it all and would highly recommend. We hope to be back soon

My wife and I were frequent visitors to Wotton House pre-pandemic and this was our first trip back since. Previously there were always plenty of staff at the reception desk, to give guests a warm welcome; this time – nobody. We had to wait more than ten minutes for one member of staff to arrive and check us in. Our visit coincided with an air traffic control problem and the hotel started taking in more guests. We knew that service at dinner would be slower than usual, but we were irritated to see a number guests arriving later than us being served first. After the meal, when we wanted to sign the bill, we were repeatedly ignored by the head waiter who noticeably spent most of his time chatting to guests on tables that held young ladies. Finally, when we came to check out at the end of our stay, again there was only one member of staff on reception, with a building queue in front of her. Eventually another staff member arrived, but proceeded to debit our pre-lodged credit card - with our permission – but without showing us what we were being charged for or even how much. We had to ask twice before she reluctantly printed off a detailed receipt for us. Based on our experience this time it is unlikely that we will return again.

Poor service from the staff and unwilling to help - especially in the restaurant and bar. We were left waiting to be seated for nearly 10 minutes for breakfast (waiting with an 4 month old baby too) and staff were literally avoiding eye contact when they could see a queue of people waiting to be seated. When we did eventually get to the breakfast buffet, most items had run out and you just had to pick at what was left over. This was the case on both mornings during our stay and applied to the hot breakfast items and even simple things to keep topped up like the pastries, yoghurt, juice etc. Additionally, if you did stand and wait for the eggs to come out from the kitchen they were always underdone. The line for the coffee machine stretched out halfway into the restaurant and the coffee is not worth queuing for. Staff seemed to be busy walking around but plates were piling up on tables and guests left unattended. The room was ok. One very small window for a family room so very little natural light and no view whatsoever. Cleanliness could have been better. Walls are thin and you can hear conversations in adjacent rooms and whatever’s going on in the corridor. The grounds were not that impressive and I wouldn’t go back again or recommend to a friend to be honest. Quite disappointed overall as the website and pictures looked promising.

Nice overnight stay with a meal in the restaurant. Hotel and food were excellent but the service in the restaurant was a bit tardy. They didn’t seem to have enough staff so it was difficult to attract someone’s attention to get more drinks. Other than that the stay was perfect.

Overall we were happy with our stay. The country house and its grounds were lovely but unfortunately our room was way too hot, even with the window open, a fan and in the month of December. However, the management provided breakfast as compensation and said to email them next time for an upgrade which we really appreciated. The customer service was excellent especially Anna working in the bar and serving us our food. The food was exceptional and I have to say, the best fillet steak I’ve had in years.

Check in process was confusing. We are family of 5, and when making the reservation, I had to book two rooms, one parent and some children in each room. This apparently resulted in two separate bookings as seen by the front desk, under different names. I had to show the receptionist the email confirmation and ultimately he was able to dig into what had happened and get us checked in. Perhaps the hotel does not get many families with 3 young children checking in? The hotel corridors, where the rooms are, are a bit tired and utilitarian. The bathtub in room 411 had a panel on the outside that was rotting away. Otherwise the rooms were comfortable. The cots for the children were nicely setup in advance. The kids loved the breakfast. The ground floor of the hotel had lots of lovely spaces. The gardens outside looked very inviting but we didn't have time to explore them. I wish we could have spent more time at the hotel.

Lovely couple of days here. Used the spa facilities and ate at the dinner one night. The area is in the middle of nowhere so very quiet and extremely dark at night. Beautiful grounds to walk around. Very charming and quaint hotel. Christmas is a great time to visit as it’s wonderfully festive.

Beautiful setting in countryside. Grounds are pretty to stroll around. Not close to anything to walk to (nearest stores etc are 5-10 minutes away). Quiet rooms. Ours was very basic and quite small. No AC but they had a fan. Remodeled bathroom. Extremely low sink seems to be for a child. There was construction outside our door (installing new flooring). Very congested front desk area with not lots of space. Bar and restaurant were nice. There was a rude female bartender at main bar. Gave her a $20 cash tip in USD for 4 drinks cause that’s all we had (just arrived!) and she said with a frown “it’s American money”. Jose at restaurant was quite friendly and nice. Food was fine and sangria refreshing. This was just a quick stopover. I’d probably not stay here again but glad to have tried it, and will find other places if ever going back.

Very relaxing. The staff were so friendly and efficient. The hotel had all the facilities we needed. It's location was ideal for what we wanted. I could sit on their garden terrace for hours looking at the view and garden with a coffee or Pimms and a good book.

A relaxing stay in a beautiful setting. Service in the restaurant was not as efficient as it should have been. I enquired at reception about an event later in the year. No-one had any further i go and said they’d get someone to call on Monday. Hmmmm. Still waiting on that call. Pool was nice and grounds were stunning.

It was nearly all of what I wanted it to be. Its a grand old house with a charm of its own set in pleasant grounds. Cleanliness of room was faultless. The temperature control for the shower over the bath was not working quite as it should. Needs attention although just about serviceable. Also faulty light over the sink. However room very comfortable. Great buffet breakfast. Had one evening meal at the hotel also which was much enjoyed. Not sure that what we ate represents good value for money but the price was roughly what I expected and no complaints about the food. The hotel is a very easy car journey from either Epsom or Dorking for shopping What was a shame was the lack of staff to clear away empty bottles of drink and used plates from the very attractive terrace in a timely fashion. These attracted bees/wasps which are a nuisance to subsequent users

We didn't try the hotel restaurant for dinner, instead opted for a nearby pub in Wotton. Breakfast buffet was quite extensive with English breakfast and cereal/ yoghurt etc. options. Only downside with breakfast for us was the limited choice of fruit - actually there wasn't any with the exception of some dried fruit pieces. Would come again though despite the fruit shortage!

Spent a night here with my partner for a valentines getaway. The room was pleasant, what you would expect for that price. Staff all over the hotel were absolutely amazing, very friendly and helpful, couldn’t do enough. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were delicious. Pool and sauna were also nice.

We had a great time at Wotton House. The restaurant for dinner was lovely and choices for breakfast were good, best is to avoid busy times as it takes them a bit longer to replenish the buffet. The property has been refurbished thoroughly and gives of a fresh nordic/countryside vibe, the gardens are beautiful even in winter. The rooms are spacious and bright , with good amenities. They could benefit from a chest of drawers for people staying longer. Yet again all we had was plenty and when we asked for a luggae holder, it arrived within a few minutes. The gel/shampoo/lotion etc were amazing. We enjoyed the pool and the gym, again, everyone was very friendly and respectful. It might get busy at times, but we always found a way to enjoy all of the choices on option (sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool) The staff at reception was great from A to Z and helped me with an unexpected and stressful issue I encountered to make my way back to London. I cant thank them enough. They have been truly wonderful. We will most certainly come back.

Stunning grounds & building. Rooms disappointing, functional decor with little character. Window covered in black mould, chipped sink, cracked tile in bathroom & shower door didn’t close. Breakfast buffet great choice, unfortunately all of the cooked food was so cold it was inedible. Overall not worth the price.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel and grounds. The staff go above and beyond and really do pay attention to detail (kids colouring tables, board games and wellies to hire, as well as a box of sticks for dogs!). I was dubious about taking my 6 year old twins as I wasn’t sure if the hotel was kid-friendly, but the staff made them feel so welcome and they even got free ice creams! The room was lovely. Clean, comfortable and light. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather, so sitting out on the terrace with a drink and the view of the grounds was pretty much perfection! Breakfast was also great (also some of the cooked food could have been hotter). Only downside was that the spa needs updating (steam room and changing rooms mainly) as there are signs of rust and paint deterioration. Despite this, all in all a fantastic family stay and we shall return!

However I was disappointed with the room, one of the curtains was hanging off the rail meaning in peak summer time the room was light very late and very early - not ideal with a little one trying to sleep. The woodwork on the bath panel was starting to rot and paint peel and the sink was very noisy when the taps were on.

The room itself was nicely decorated, clean and had all the facilities I'd expect EXCEPT for air conditioning. Unfortunately the lack of AC on a hot evening on the top floor of this hotel proved catastrophic when it came to getting a good night's sleep, something that is critically important in a hotel really. I asked to move room for the following night, this was not possible but I was told they'd try and get an AC unit. Upon returning to the hotel, this had not been done, my son's bed had been inexplicably taken away and the room had not been cleaned (perhaps they thought I'd be moving, but had not communicated with each other). No one communicated anything to me about the lack of AC unit. I decided I could not spend another night not sleeping (the room felt like it was at least 30c) so decided to check out and go home early. Checking out one night early from a two-night stay did not seem to surprise the staff member I dealt with- she did not even ask me why! I let her know that I was quite dissatisfied with the temperature of the room, the fact we couldn't be moved, and the lack of communication and she again didn't seem too apologetic. I asked if my breakfast for the following day could be refunded since that was paid for separately, and was told that would be fine, but it has not been refunded. The room itself was nicely decorated, clean and had all the facilities I'd expect EXCEPT for air conditioning. Unfortunately the lack of AC on a hot evening on the top floor of this hotel proved catastrophic when it came to getting a good night's sleep, something that is critically important in a hotel really. I asked to move room for the following night, this was not possible but I was told they'd try and get an AC unit. Upon returning to the hotel, this had not been done, my son's bed had been inexplicably taken away and the room had not been cleaned (perhaps they thought I'd be moving, but had not communicated with each other). No one communicated anything to me about the lack of AC unit. I decided I could not spend another night not sleeping (the room felt like it was at least 30c) so decided to check out and go home early. Checking out one night early from a two-night stay did not seem to surprise the staff member I dealt with- she did not even ask me why! I let her know that I was quite dissatisfied with the temperature of the room, the fact we couldn't be moved, and the lack of communication and she again didn't seem too apologetic. I asked if my breakfast for the following day could be refunded since that was paid for separately, and was told that would be fine, but it has not been refunded. Stunning location which makes it all worth it, good service but would expect facilities, breakfast and service to be higher given the charges and premium position of the hotel. The scenery and hotel grounds are relied on for satisfaction

My husband and I had a two night break at this hotel. It was superb couldn't fault a think. We asked for a quite room as there was a wedding on at the time we were there. Our room was perfect, had everything you would need, very quite didn't hear a thing from the wedding party at all. We did have a fan in our room which was a godsend. The only thing missing would have been a small fridge in our room. But not a deal breaker. The grounds are so beautiful enjoyed looking at the chicken & Rooster near the vegetable garden. We took advantage of the indoor swimming pool & jacuzzi. Lovely stay over all.
