George was excellent operating the hotel and made our experience alot better. The property is in a great location, eqsy parking nearby and excellent dining options nearby. I did not eat at hotel for breakfast, but found great options at nearby beach and back street, excellent Greek breakfast. If we returned to area, we would definitely stay a the Chatsworth hotel again and recommend others to do so.

Lovely stay at The Chatsworth, impressed by how the old building was moderinised without taking away from the authentic feel. Gated lift still fully operational, was a very nice touch. Nice gym and friendly staff who recommended a swim in the ocean after a workout - was lovely but shocking cold : ) The staff were fantastic, it's nice to see staff that actually care and not just there to do a job.

The Hotel is well placed for town and the beach. It is very dog friendly, our dog was even given a sausage at breakfast.

Professional but friendly staff, big Alex, cool Kevin and suave George are the perfect team and will meet all of your hotel guest needs; the bar, breakfast and gym are all outstanding - and a ride lion the elegant 120yo lift is a must!

Nice staff, everything worked well, parking was cheap thanks to a discounted on-road pay and display scheme, property is a bit dated in places but all was fine. Pianist in the bar was a great touch. I would stay there again.

I wanted a hotel with a balcony that was the whole reason but was disappointed with what the balcony looked like wasnt easy it was an obstacle to get to such a high step inside the room and out needed two steps added in/out to make it easier was a total letdown also the table on balcony was dirty. Got the occasional visit from the seagull. The lift was a novelty love a part of history. Staff were friendly and helpful thankyou to one of the staff who took our photo sitting in the lift just had to get that photo lol. Had a welcome glass of wine don't often get that in a hotel. Who knows me and hubby might be back at some point maybe with the balcony step made easier I missed my early cup of tea and watching the sunrise because of the obstacle so didn't bother with the balcony almost resembles a danger hazard unfortunately Overall we had a nice time didn't have breakfast too expensive at £20pp went to a cafe round the corner .

We loved, loved, loved this hotel and would definitely stay again if back in Eastbourne. It was a last minute trip and quite unplanned so I booked based on others great feedback and we have to agree. Easy parking was followed by such a lovely warm welcome and quick checkin. They have a beautiful old and original lift int he hotel with metal shutters and a seat which was lovely. However what was even nicer was the fact that you are taken to your room to check you are happy with it. The staff at every contact were friendly and the place spotlessly clean. We would have been very happy had we been staying longer. Another nice touch was the offer of a complimentary glass of wine int he bar at 6pm as a welcome to the hotel. Whilst we couldnt take advantage it was touches like this that made the place feel out of the ordinary and a little more special. Everything about the hotel showed tradition and elegance. Well dont to the team working at this hotel - you are doing a great job!!!

Fabulous location, very nice ( but chairs are uncomfortable) decor, limited menu for dinner. Both Olivia and Matt, at the front desk, are superb and very helpful. Windows in the rooms can be opened which is nice. The 100 year old lift has very heavy collapsable doors which are difficult to open and shut. In my opinion, not a property for disabled or informed, but they do have a ramp to access the hotel and can be requested.

We stayed at the Chatsworth for an overnight while vising family. We were greeted at reception by Natalia who was very welcoming, smily, friendly & professional. After checking us in she show us to our room, such a lovely touch. Our room was beautiful & spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was superb & staff were very friendly & professional We highly recommend the hotel & will definitely stay there again.

Unfortunately the walls of the rooms are very thin and we could hear every word spoken and even worse the snoring from the next room all night. The room itself was ok but basic, no decoration and a bit run down furniture. The carpet and bathroom weren’t cleaned very well. The view was great though.

Perfect stay . Everything about the hotel was amazing from the staff to the cleanliness of the whole hotel . The room was spacious clean and the bed was so comfortable . Breakfast was gorgeous 5* from ya defiantly will be going back

Very welcoming staff at the hotel. Overall a decent stay and a good sized room however the room could be a lot cleaner. Lots of dust and things under the bed left my previous guests I assume.

The 5 stars were missing. It’s actually a 3 star rather than 5 hotel. It was a blend hotel; & room with no soul although spacious and with sea views. The stairs and room carpet was dirty, the bed was rock hard which gave us serous back pain and we had to take painkillers to recover from it. The breakfast was cold and lack quality

Nice large room with view of the sea. Room was spotless and the staff we encountered were all polite & welcoming. Well decorated hotel. City centre was walkable with shops, pubs, bars & restaurant all close by too. No need for public transport during our stay. High

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the downstairs area had some nice classical features as you would expect from a hotel that is over a hundred year old. We only had food once at the hotel and were disappointed, the panini was hard and dry, and the choice for lunch on the day was limited due to the airshow that was on. The bin in the downstairs ladies changing room had no bin liner and was full of ladies used feminine products. We had a dog friendly room and the carpet was badly stained and the wall had plaster coming off where the damp had set in. There was no mattress protector and some stains on the mattress and duvet. Having paid a premium due to the airshow and an additional fee for a dog friendly room we were disappointed as this is not what you would expect from a 5 star property as rated on Expedia. No one asked us if we had enjoyed our stay as I suspect that they knew it was not good value for money at over £600 including the dog fee for 2 nights room only. The owners need to spend money on the property as it does need some new carpets and the wall in room 203 needs fixing.

A beautiful building, superb staff nicely decorated in the public areas. Cob webs and dirty tea making area in our room, and only okish breakfast were the only low points which were a surprise at over £320 per night. Calling out the amazing welcome that we received from the hotel manager and Staff members . Really friendly and helpful. The 1920’s lift with a seat is a really high point !

Not a 5 Star. No air con, no minibar, no dressing gown, no sleepers, no shower cup, no chest of drawer to unpack, no coffe machine. Fan in a bath was very loud at night no able to turn it off. Balcony was dirty. Balcony door needs fixing. Stained furniture, stained rug. We had a kid with us, no towel or tea cup for her were provided. Views was amazing, very warm in the room, decor in lobby corridor’s beautiful but room super out dated

Room was good with a great ocean view. The staff were very kind, the room was spacious, and the heating worked well, so overall I had a comfortable stay and I would recommend this hotel for the ocean view. However, there were some water-stain marks on the ceiling (not an active leak, just old marks), and the hotel does feel a bit dated. Breakfast was not very impressive.

The staff were very kind, the room was spacious, and the heating worked well, so overall I had a comfortable stay and I would recommend this hotel for the ocean view. Waterfront location great, staff at front desk great, lovely reception areas and dining room, very cool hundred year old lift. Room was dusty and had no air con or a fan making it difficult to sleep in the stuffy humid weather.

This property was sold as 5 🌟 . It wasn’t that sadly, 2 stars at most, without any of the facilities a 5 star rating eludes to, and some issues that any Hotel should be resolving urgently. We stayed for 3 nights in an executive sea view. The hotel describes itself as sun drenched luxury. It isn’t. There were two positives; the location near the pier on the seafront is good, and our room on the 2nd floor was sea view. When I say sea view, you had to open the window as all of the double glazing in the windows are badly condensated between the glass. Other features were the stains on the carpet, coffee marks on the dresser, and they also left a free gift of Ferrero Roche (2) and some pills from a previous room occupant for my 5 yr old to find under the bed. The Illy coffee machine worked well (only 2 pods provided), but it was a liability on the small table as it shook the kettle off and spilled, fortunately not hot. The LED lights in the lamps were not dimmable and flickered. In the bathroom there was a small bottle of cheap shampoo and a small bar of soap provided for showering. Not even Travelodge are that tight. The bath shower had no temperature control on it and the temperature was variable, dangerous for our 5 yr old. The old-gated lift is quaint, but there’s a reason why you won’t find them elsewhere. And to breakfast; charged handsomely for a buffet which wasn’t provided, limited choice and badly served between buckets catching the rain leaks. Poor & tired

The staff are what makes this place great. All very helpful and friendly. Hotel and room is tired, but the xmas effort made it feel very sparkly and christmassy! Breakfast delicous. Wasn’t sure why no toiletries on offer, this is very unusual for a hotel in this price bracket. Only stayed 1 night so not too challenging.

Had a very pleasant stay at the Chatsworth Hotel. I was greeted by the Hotel Manager George who advised I'd been given a complimentary Upgrade to a very nice suite. The Hotel was beautiful with the original lift that is apparently about 100 years old, I was then taken up to my suite and given lots of very useful information. In my room was a great guide to Eastbourne letting me know all the events that were going on during my stay and when I popped out for my evening meal I was given recommendations where I could eat. The staff were all very lovely and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, I will certainly be going back. Particular highlight was the ocean veiw from my room.

This hotel would. It allow me to move my stay with 3 days notice. I caught COVID and had to move my trip. They would not allow it, even though they had vacancies. Very disappointing. I will not be a customer ever again.

We loved, loved, loved this hotel and would definitely stay again if back in Eastbourne. It was a last minute trip and quite unplanned so I booked based on others great feedback and we have to agree. Easy parking was followed by such a lovely warm welcome and quick checkin. They have a beautiful old and original lift int he hotel with metal shutters and a seat which was lovely. However what was even nicer was the fact that you are taken to your room to check you are happy with it. The staff at every contact were friendly and the place spotlessly clean. We would have been very happy had we been staying longer. Another nice touch was the offer of a complimentary glass of wine int he bar at 6pm as a welcome to the hotel. Whilst we couldnt take advantage it was touches like this that made the place feel out of the ordinary and a little more special. Everything about the hotel showed tradition and elegance. Well dont to the team working at this hotel - you are doing a great job!!!

A good 3 star hotel, but no ay near 5 stars. One gets the sense this used to be a good hotel, but in the last few years has been operating on a budget (new owners?). The structure of communal and rooms are good, but the furnishings and decor are getting tired. For example my, Aunt stayed in one of the sea view rooms, which had a great aspect and space, but the table had two major cracks in it and looked like it was from a skip. My room was a partial sea view room, and it was fine but rather basic (although the shower head was broken and thick with limescale). The breakfast room is grand, but the tables and chairs very cheap. The breakfast, esp.at £20pp, is really poor. The staff are lovely, but there is not enough of them - the receptionist also had to serve breakfast for example. This helps explain why whenever we called the phone is very rarely picked up. Great location. If you think of this as an okay 3 star youll be pleased, but very disappointed if a 5 star.

This is a slightly tired hotel, some grubby areas and stained carpets in our room. Very poor breakfast (also very much overpriced) There are some friendly and helpful younger staff but the man who checked us out was so utterly rude and condescending. I would not recommend this hotal to anyone, avoid

George was excellent operating the hotel and made our experience alot better. The property is in a great location, eqsy parking nearby and excellent dining options nearby. I did not eat at hotel for breakfast, but found great options at nearby beach and back street, excellent Greek breakfast. If we returned to area, we would definitely stay a the Chatsworth hotel again and recommend others to do so.

Fabulous location, very nice ( but chairs are uncomfortable) decor, limited menu for dinner. Both Olivia and Matt, at the front desk, are superb and very helpful. Windows in the rooms can be opened which is nice. The 100 year old lift has very heavy collapsable doors which are difficult to open and shut. In my opinion, not a property for disabled or informed, but they do have a ramp to access the hotel and can be requested.

Great location on the beach and near the pier! Lovely old building and large rooms with big, beautiful marble bathrooms. They only offereda 20 pound buffet breakfast in the dining room and no dinner service. We had a la carte breakfast room service but it was cold. Filtered for laundry on Expedia website and it showed laundry facilities but none were available.

The 5 stars were missing. It’s actually a 3 star rather than 5 hotel. It was a blend hotel; & room with no soul although spacious and with sea views. The stairs and room carpet was dirty, the bed was rock hard which gave us serous back pain and we had to take painkillers to recover from it. The breakfast was cold and lack quality

On the positive side, the staff were friendly, the room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. On the negative side, hotels that aspire to be luxury provide a decent çoffee making machine and a fridge/minibar. I was concerned that the hotel was not following food safety regulations at the breakfast buffet. An issue i raised with the duty manager. When serving hot food the regulation say it should be maintained at a temperature of 63° C at both breakfasts the items were lukewarm, a potential for spreading food poisoning. The selection of breads and pastries was very limited considering that an excellent bakery was only 50 yards away down the next street. (It was open on New Years Eve). At £570 for a two night stay it was not value for money

Room and view fabulous but dining experience in the evening leaves a lot to be desired. Slow service, awful wine glasses, soup much too thick, low on choice and where I was expecting a nice piano to give background some ambiance, it was loud, in your face and man talking about music to us, just kept talking through the whole meal, not giving us a chance to speak to each other. He was talented though, but another pianist took over for a short time, and he was the perfect blend. Value for money quite poor.

A Beautiful Hotel with Real Character — Just a Few Details to Fix We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel, which has a charm all of its own — not least the classic birdcage lift, a functioning showpiece that we never tired of seeing. Our room was pleasant and full of character, with lovely high ceilings, and the bathroom was truly spectacular — both in size and in the quality of its amenities. Breakfast was enjoyable too, with a good variety and quality on offer. The real highlight for us, though, was the piano bar: we loved relaxing over pre-dinner drinks while listening to a talented singer and piano player. A wonderful way to start the evening. That said, there were a few areas that let the experience down. General upkeep in the bedrooms could be better — our net curtain had a large tear, which we felt was unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. We also noticed a build-up of dust around the coffee area, and housekeeping in general would benefit from closer attention to detail. The good news is that these issues should be easy to address. Overall, with the upkeep and housekeeping improved as a priority — and a few extra touches such as an in-room mini fridge and safe — this hotel would be truly fabulous. We'd happily return.

First time staying, and would throughly recommend. Lovely clean sea view room, and very friendly people on reception (particularly the women, sorry didn’t get her name who dealt with us a couple times including checking out which was quick smooth and easy!)

Lift was fantastic to see something original still working and not having been replaced with something steel and with no character was a great surprise.
