The Haymarket Hotel

Nice quaint hotel in New Town. Within a couple of blocks of the Haymarket Station which was great for a day trip to Pitlochry. There is no elevator and some rooms are on the 3rd floor if that is important to you. The staff helped us carry our bags up

The property is separated into 5 properties and you get a key that opens the door to your floor but it’s the same key that opens your room door. Not sure how that works or how safe that is but it caused a little concern. The staff was great but beware there are no elevators. It was fine for my husband and I as we had the basement floor so we had to only drag our bags up one flight of stairs but some friends of ours were on the top floor and had to drag all of their bags up about 7 steep flights.

Location great, very basic room, basic service. Limited amenities in room (example showering amenities). If you get it for good value then great. We didn’t. Parking a challenge if you have a car and parking ticket peopkexarexalwaysxaround.

Didn't expect the hotel to be split into 5 different buildings but they were all next to each other which was cool. No parking on site but they were able to tell us where we could park and leave the car there for almost the whole day for less than 10 pounds. Very close to the tram stop and shops, cafes and restaurants. Only a 10 minute tram ride to the main part of Edinburgh

No elevator. Third floor was difficult with luggage. Still a lovely place.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Haymarket. The staff were excellent and their breakfast was cooked to order. Location was very close to the Haymarket train station so very convenient. The only drawback was the hotel did not have an elevator. The hotel manager offered to move us to another one of their buildings but we elected to stay with our original room. At the end of the day, despite being on the top floor, the stairs were doable. Recommend staying.

Centrally located to tram links to airport. Staff were welcoming and friendly, room was clean, cosy and comfortable, well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities and also given a complimentary drinks voucher to use at their in house bar lovely little added touch, great value for money and I would definitely return!!

Slight delay with check in due to staff working in the bar and reception. The bar was Extra busy with a local rugby match. Despite this the staff coped very well, efficient and courteous.

Decent place to stay. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good. No lifts so had to carry own luggage up multiple flights of stairs to room.

We stayed in your hotel for one night only and were completely satisfied with everything! Great location, quiet cozy place close to the center of Edinburgh, great transport system, spacious well-heated room, clean, blackout curtains, possibility to have coffee in the room (electric kettle). Single room, small but clean, quiet, warm and comfortable. Didn’t use bar or have breakfast so can’t comment. Great location for transport, food and bars. Will book again for 1 or 2 night stop overs.

The Haymarket Hotel and surrounding properties are located in a quiet suburb of Edinburgh. Easy to transport links and if you like a to walk about 40 minutes from the Centre of Edinburgh The town houses are of traditional design with original features and neutral colour schemes. Staff were lovely and helpful however they do have their work cut out in respect to the failing conditions of this hotel and its other sister buildings. My room was okay , however a little tatty around the seems , sad because the heart of the hotel is amazing. I was sad to find bed bug activity as I had been bitten and have had to ensure I hadn’t had any uninvited guests in my luggage as I didn’t want those little beasts in my home . I did suffer noise disturbance due to noise from above which with vibration turned my chandelier into some kind of singing instrument. I feel that the staff work hard at keeping visitors happy but this aging building is letting them all down . Need a through refurb , however it was the cheapest hotel to stay in during the fringe , so good value for the price . I wish this hotel well but it does needs some investment or unfortunately it is going to be left behind , shame as it is a wonderful building and deserves to do well .

The hotel is not too bad but way overpriced for what it is. They have us one face towel for two people. The bath towels are nice but the shower had some mould. The hotel has rooms across 6 buildings (one next to each other). I booked 2 rooms several months ago and the rooms were in separate buildings and both in the basement (which wasn't clear when I booked). One of the rooms was by the front of the building so you could hear people getting in and cars driving by. Overall, very expensive for what it is.

We had a lovely stay at the Haymarket Hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and considerate. Nothing was too much bother for them. We have stayed in 5 star hotels where the rooms were not as clean as they are at the Haymarket. Ben linen and towels were of the highest quality

Unfortunately no hot water during our stay so we couldn’t shower. The rooms could be cleaner.

The Haymarket hotel is in a good location as it is close to the Haymarket Train Station and it’s walkable to Princess Street and the Royal Mile. The staff are kind and helpful. Our room was not very nice. It was below ground and the window didn’t open so it was very stuffy. It was a very noisy room as we heard every door slam, luggage rolling above us. We even heard hair dryers and coughing from nearby rooms. Our room was beside the exit which was occasionally left ajar. It felt a bit unsafe. The bed was lumpy The bathroom looked relatively new but due to the lack of airflow, had black mould in the grout. I feel like we may have had the worst room. We didn’t ask for a new room so I am not sure if we would have been moved. The pictures on their website were much nicer than what we experienced. They also advertise laundry facilities but when we asked where it was, we were told that it cost 20 pounds and it was sent away to a laundry service. That was disappointing.

In this survey we just realised we had booked this hotel room through Expedia, and we didn't receive this VIP access room when we checked in as this was not honoured by Haymarket Hotel. Our room had 1 window that didn't open much. We will follow up with Expedia. We were placed in the Stuart building on the top floor, with no AC or a fan during a heat wave in Edinburgh. On request we were given a fan on the second day. We believe we were bitten on night 1 by bed bugs and this showed up 2 days later when we were checking out, not knowing what this was, we went to the chemist when we got to Belfast and they confirmed this. We notified the hotel of being bitten by bed bugs (attached picture) but they denied this upon investigation. We requested a refund for the poor stay and was not given anything to this day. Guest beware and do your own checks so you don't end up like us with over 200 bites. These bites caused us concern and embarrassment as we just started our vacation and had to manage ourselves with online chat to a doctor, chemists and medication to see us through. We also took all our clothes to the laundry at Belfast to make sure we were free of the bugs. Take photos of any proof you may need later as we didn't take the photos of the black spots on the sheets and the squashed bed bug blood. We have travelled a lot and never knew/experienced this until the Haymarket Hotel. Now back home we are still getting over the nightmare we went through.

This hotel staff was nice, the property was cute however it needed a good dusting and the beds were horribly uncomfortable. There were garbage bins right outside our window that were emptied at 2 am everynight which woke us up as well.

Neat and clean. Nice room. Beautiful lounge. Staff were all lovely.

The Haymarket Hotel is nearby Haymarket station, in a quiet street. We had a room with a garden view that was totally quiet and nice. The room was very cozy, the bathroom nice. Two things that were not perfect: the bed was creaking and in the morning the water pressure in the shower was very low. But I guess these are minor problems. The townhouse-character of this hotel was great.

The rooms are beautiful, however, there was no noise insulation. Our room was lower ground floor at the front. We could hear traffic outside (no double glazing), as well as hearing every person who passed by our window and came in to the building. Some guests were inconsiderate with the noise, especially late at night (midnight and 2am), but even with those guests who weren't being loud, you still heard them. The breakfast was excellent, and the setvice was quick. The dining room it was served in was lovely - in fact the whole place was lovely, just wished they had better noise insulation.

This place is great. I would have given it 5 stars except for the bed. Mattress was absolutely awful. Buchan Room 12 dearly needs a new one. To say it 'sags' is an understatement. Everything else was lovely. Staff are all really great.

ideally located close to edinburgh, with many dining options around and supermarkets. However, there were cobwebs in my room, and the internet didn't work. In fact, I couldn't even get signal on my phone to call people or hotspot my laptop to get some work done.

Loud location could hear everything but a nice place to stay. Rooms were large for 4 girls in one room.

Standard Hotel. Small Bathroom some stains. Beds with spring matresd not tha comfortable. Old windows not cleaned the space before it. No help with luggage despite 3rd floor.

It was walkable to major attractions. We could take the train from Haymarket station which was close to the hotel and there were lots of cafes near by. The staff was exceptional. Thank you for all your help! They truly helped us a lot.

We stayed here for one night in our spacious room for a convenient walk over to the Oasis concert at Murrayfield stadium. Staff excellent, kind and courteous... they gave us welcome gifts (branded Oasis items) which was such a nice touch and allowed us to keep our bags with them for the majority of the day whilst we went around Edinburgh. Really fantastic location.

We stayed here on a weekend with 2 big events in town, so prices were understandably high. But for well over £300 the hotel felt dated and the service was extremely poor. One guy was dealing with check ins and the bar. He had to take people out the hotel and up the street to other buildings. We waited 20 mins for a drink. The room itself looked like it was once nice, but in need of decoration. Our room was on the bottom floor of a building 6 doors up. We were woken up every time someone came in the front door. Save yourself £200 at book a Travellodge

Perfect location and very easy to get there from the airport by tram. Huge room with cosy standard. Nice places for breakfast close to the hotel. Several restaurants nearby.

The location was great - minutes from the Haymarket train station and a 30 minute walk from central Edinburgh

Location was good, close to Scot Rail and the trams. Lots of pubs and restaurants close by. Area was quiet at night.

Perfect spot to explore Edinburgh, with the tram and bus stations within a 5 minute walk. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was good - nice hot shower. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Reasonable selection of restaurants within walking distance. Tesco express 5 minutes down the road.Would definitely stay again.

Very nicely furnished and clean. Fantastic bakery/cafe across the street. While it wasn't super close to attractiions there was a Tesco, a fantastic bakery and some small businesses nearby to walk to. The hospitality was very good, some very nice younger stafffers made us feel very welcome. Just be aware there's no lift so if you have a lot of luggage it's something to consider.

Great position for transport and shopping. Walking distance to castle for those comfortable with walking or tram stops nearby. Staff were very pleasant and helpful..had all I needed. Wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel on another visit.

Easy access to national rail station and quick Uber access. Loads of pubs and food options close. Easily walkable neighborhood close to city. If you are spending most of your time in old town you should know this is further out. We used it as a base for lots of day trips and it was perfect.

Great location to many of the historical sites of Edinburgh. The area is highly walkable; but, plenty of public transportation options if needed. The room is well appointed and spacious. Staff were very helpful and responsive.

Hotel position next to Haymarket train station, tram and places to eat was fabulous. Breakfast included helped made for a great day exploring the city. Room was clean and bed was comfortable after long day walking.

Very charming place made up of a row of townhomes that have been beautifully restored. The staff was very professional and welcoming. The full breakfast offered many delicious options. Haymarket was about a 10-15 minute walk to the key tourist destinations. As we had tougher weather, we ended up with more Ubers back and forth to the hotel, but they were very reasonable fares.

Hotel lovelly room could of been a bit warmer ,breakfast was a bit expensive ,lovelly small courtyard handy if your a smoker

Lovely little hotel with lots of charm. The room was a bit older but all the amenities were met. The staff is super friendly and kind. The breakfast options are endless and there is an in house bar, with cocktails wine and beer. The decor and ambience is sooo cute and vintage. Very easy to bars and restaurants. Easy access to Ubers and taxis. The city center is within walking distance. You won’t regret your stay here… I fell in love with Scotland and this hotel was a huge reason why.

We stayed one night to see Bruce Springsteen at nearby Murrayfield Stadium. The main parts of the hotel, lobby, bar/restaurant area were nice, our bedroom was spacious and comfortable but some areas could do with redecorating. Breakfast nice, friendly staff, would use again for same purpose as good location for stadium and tram ride into the city centre.

No real gluten free food available. Small but adequate room.

We enjoyed our stay at the Haymarket. Our room was below street level, and it ended up being cool and pretty quiet, even though we were staying in late July. We enjoyed having the bar area in the hotel as well. One note, we would recommend NOT paying for the breakfast from the hotel, but instead you can walk literally right across the street to a cute little cafe that had delicious and reasonably priced breakfast.
