Room was clean, steamer in the room didn’t work but they sent up an iron very quickly The pool was a bit cold and held private functions on the rooftop bar making it take awhile to order drinks for the hotel guests The twin room was lovely but wasn’t paying €100 more for a double bed Driving to the hotel was a nightmare If you miss the parking it took us on a 30 min detour with one way with taxi lanes

Great base for our Granada stay. We were thrilled to return from a flamenco theatre to find an excellent guitarist and brilliant singer in the bar. The rooftop bar was lovely (open on the dry evening!) although the service was variable. The rooftop pool is very public - including a glass side! - and VERY small. The hotel was stressful to drive to and we ended up in narrow, medieval streets due to the one-way system. Their own parking garage was full so we were directly to the public car park 500 metres away.

Overall, I had a fabulous stay here at the Barcelo Carmen. Breakfast is fantastic, location is great, room was good, and rooftop terrace and pool okay. Lots of things to like, but why do I need to get to the terrace on the 8th floor and need to go back to zero to get a towel? Why are there only enough Sun loungers for half the people that want them? And why haven’t you reconsidered and redesigned the terrace to make safety around the pool and walking surfaces a priority, and reconfigure the space to what people appear to want?

If using the rooftop bar is important to you then look elsewhere as the "bar" does not serve drinks during dinner hours so you can't really enjoy the rooftop terrace either unless you have a table booked for dinner!! very strange and disappointing to be honest as the rooftop terrace is one of the main attractions of this hotel. Also the room did not have a real window - only a glazed/frosted window which did not let you see outside making the room feel quite claustrophobic. Important details such as this (i.e. no real window) should be made clear in the room description! On the positive: the room was very clean. The hotel overall was also very clean & modern and reception staff also friendly and helpful.

The hotel part and employees are nice but the gym was awful. It is used by people other than guests and they do classes. We had a more expensive room that faced the inside and you could clearly hear the classes. Going up to work out you felt like you had to push through the classes to get to the cardio equipment and weights. Like you shouldn’t be there. Then there is the issue of none of them being available. On my third trip back I got a treadmill but had to listen to the classes the whole time. The guy training was very nice I will say and turned the AC on for me. The girl though obviously didn’t want hotel guests there. The gym is on the 8th floor with no card access on the elevators. Not a place to have a gym being used by non guests and it was in no way big enough for that. One of the ladies at the desk argued with my husband when he expressed that this is an issue but one of the other workers admitted it could be an issue. It was obviously an issue. The parking was great and the hotel was very clean. If you don’t want to use the gym just make sure you get a room where you can’t hear it.

Room had mould in shower and some rooms have a mould smell. Also bad signing posting to room 233 where I stayed - tried two others and Andy bad. I’m asthmatic so not great. Only one sheet on bed (not enoughh and no bathroom door. Great location as opposite El Cortes department store and lots of eateries etc.

We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo. The staff were pleasant and friendly. There was a good choice of food for breakfast and wifi worked well. If you are allocated room 109 be aware ithere is only a small window overlooking an enclosed area. Conveniently located - we walked to the Alhambra in 30 minutes and the cathedral in 10. Taxis and buses just outside.

Very nice new hotel. We liked that check in/check out were 2pm/12 noon. Nice location in the commercial district with a shopping mall right opposite. We walked to the cathedral and Albaicin. Nice bar and swimming pool on the roof. The only issue we had was that our (three person) room was strangely laid out. It’s not that the room was small but the layout and lots or furniture pieces made it cramped.

Nice hotel and updated. Stayed in a family room which was a decent size. The couch bed wasn’t the most comfortable unfortunately as it had a hump and wasn’t completely flat. Wish the bathrooms also had a hairdryer which is expected in a hotel. Other than that it is a nice hotel in a convenient location.

Staff were curt, not friendly but got the job done. Hotel and room were gorgeous. Design flaw: there is no door to the bathroom. I hate this European design, it's so flawed. So we had to take turns to leave the room just to shower... not everyone travels as couples. Had we known, we probably would've booked a different hotel. The toilet has a sliding door... but very little privacy in this room. Rooftop view is *STUNNING* but the food was really bad and so overpriced. Go for drinks but not for dinner. Wi-fi was strong. I'd stay again if I was alone in the room.

Poor service at rooftop bar. Only interested in diners. Chose to spend early evening at the rooftop bar and while we were sitting with drinks in hand staff started adding a table to our existing table and setting up the table for diners. We were invisible even though we were buying drinks. The first occasion we let it go but they did the same on another evening. Also noticed others being been directed away from table that were available.

Had problems at check in. Was allocated a noisy room (this was changed later thankfully) Receptionist unhelpful. Reception disputed the breakfast cost we had been given online, they disputed it at check in and check out. We were supposed to have had a “picnic breakfast” today as we were leaving early, despite reminding reception there was no breakfast whatsoever. Very poor and unprofessional service. We are very disappointed with our stay especially as we paid a premium to stay at the Carmen , their sister hotel the Congress was much better and cheaper with a much better breakfast.

Lovely hotel, lovely room with fabulous shower, comfy bed, large tv and wardrobe. Breakfast is fantastic. Only feedback was that during check in staff member took a phone call and chatted to colleagues - took quite a while to check in as a result. Roof top bar area is nice.

Maria and Paula gave us outstanding customer service, We had trouble changing our train tickets and they assisted us. It took awhile due to system errors. They were so patient. Thank you again ladies. You couldn’t have done it without you. Maria was always asking if we required any other assistance. Always going out of her way to help. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel.

Absolutely stunning hotel. I am working in hospitality business for over 14 years and I can say that there was not even one mistake. On arrival we were welcomed and check-in from Maria.She is a diamond -so supportive and polite.She help us with any single need and information. Breakfast 10 out of 10 and service was great and staff very nice. Great location for the price and wonderful service and great atmosphere.

Staff were pretty rude and slow to serve us. Someone jumped the queue in front of us at check in and the receptionist didn’t even bat an eye lid and just served them before us. No smile. Trying to get a single drink in the bar took ages! I then tried to get the bill, this also took ages a it seemed like myself and my friend didn’t matter to the staff and they were intent on serving Spanish customers first. The room was okay but didn’t have any sort of view and the water stopped working whilst I was in the middle of having a shower. The temperature of the water kept fluctuating, and was often so hot it burned me. Couldn’t even find the light in the bathroom. Premium price tag for a less than premium experience. Would not recommend.

Clean room, friendly staff. The reason I am giving four star and not 5 star ,the cost of breakfast was varying depending on who you spoke to from 16.50 to 13.50. Originally I was told water was complimentary and then was told it was only two bottles was complimentary irrespective to number of days you stayed. I stayed for 9 days , which did not make any sense. Helps to be transparent with pricing and cost.

Hotel on main street with many restaurants and shopping close by. El corte inglés across the street. Very clean, beds and pillows very comfy. Had an inside room facing a small courtyard, no noise at all! Great rooftop pool and bar with amazing views. If you’re up for the walk, an up hill walk, you can walk to the Alhambra.

The proximity to Granada's center was outstanding. It's about a 10 minute walk to the city center with plenty of restaurants and shopping options along the way. Granada's center is stricly pedestrian as vehicle traffic is restricted to residents and taxis only. Traffic is policed with cameras. And vehicles that venture into restricted area are subject to steep fines. The restrictions make it difficult to visit Granada. Barcelo Carmen makes it easier to navigate the restriction. Customers of the hotel get a special exemption to travel on the restricted "Acera del Darro" boulevard, so long as you check in to the hotel within 30 minutes of having traversed the restricted area. Coupled with the hotel's valet parking, and convenient walking distance to bus-stops and taxi-stops, the hotel is really the best way to enjoy Granada. Just be sure to keep to the boulevard when driving to and from the hotel. The hotel's special exemption does not apply to the sides streets.

Great hotel. Well maintained. Staff was friendly. Rooftop bar for a night cap after walking around was perfect. Lots of restaurants around. Walking distance to main attractions. Right across from a shopping mall. My only issue is parking is 200 meters at a public parking lot. Not a big deal but reveling with kids (toddler), strollers and luggages, makes it a little tough. Overall, great stay.

Excellent location, hotel and very friendly staff. The hotel had excellent buffet and tapas bar. We loved the food for desayuno (breakfast) as well as tapas and Alhambra beer! The rooftop is very beautiful. We want to return!
