Inn On The Lake

We needed a 1 night stay, while travelling with our pet, and it was exactly what we needed. The staff are lovely and on point. Facilities are good, and most importantly we were welcomed with our furry friend.

Clean room, plenty of parking

We used this for an overnight stay before going to the cruise terminal in Tilbury. The hotel contacted us prior to our stay to advise of a function that would be on during our stay and asked if we needed a quiet room. The check in process was easy and parking was free and plentiful even though there was a 300+ function ongoing. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was included and had a good selection.

Really dog friendly. Great staff. Spacious rooms. Requested a quiet room as there was an event on the night we were staying and the staff allocated a room right away from the main area - really pleased that they helped us with that request.

Booked for a couple of nights while visiting family in Darent hospital which is a short drive away. Easy check-in, large room with lovely lake view. Out main reason for booking here was it’s a dog friendly hotel. There were nice walks but would have benefited from a fridge in the room as we needed to keep dog food chilled.

the property ads in their website are far glorified as a real experience not proper bathroom toiletries very good size room but micro TV with broken remotes roadside of the hotel is very noisy due to highway just meters away but lake side is fabulous no air-conditions and ceiling fans are decorative rather than operational

Room was a good size. Had a nice meal and drinks by the lakeside. Check-in was quick and complimentary breakfast was good. Would stay there again if we were in the area

The hotel is what it is. Very convenient for the motorway, a little dated but entirely acceptable. The rooms on the motorway side can be a little noisy but the room we had overlooking the lake was quiet, spacious and very comfortable. And the staff were all fantastic. The hotel’s trump card is that it’s adjacent to Shorne Woods. That’s fantastic if like us you have a dog and you have had, or will have, a long drive. It makes it a superb overnight stop either before or after a channel crossing. You can give the dog a great run before setting off and/or after a long drive.

Loveley size room but very dated. Bathroom was very shabby. Enjoyed sitting by the lake having a drink. Loverly hotel by the lake but in massive need of updating.

Great dog friendly hotel

The shower head had rust and limescale, the bath had chipped enamel and the grout had mould. The staff were fine but I didn’t feel comfortable with the bathroom and washing myself with a shower head that dirty

Clean room excellent staff

The room wasn’t properly cleaned and bits in the shower and on the showers walls. Sink wasn’t properly cleaned. For what I paid for it wasn’t worth the money.

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. The cleanliness in the hotel rooms was absolutely awful! I had to move to a different room and the second room wasn’t any better. I was suppose to stay for 2 nights but I had to leave after the first night. This hotel needs a lot improvements

The sheets and duvet were marked, paper was falling off the walls and units were sticky to the touch. Disgusting and tiered.

3 star rated hotel and was what you'd expect.It was clean, and comfortable and would stay again! Breakfast was included in the price and there was a good selection, continental and warm breakfast!

Lovely staff who were friendly but professional. The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The decor is a little tired but the place was clean. Generous breakfast included in my room rate. Lovely setting by the lakes. Had a good stay for two nights.

Don’t like to leave negative reviews, but our stay was unfortunately very disappointing. The reception staff were consistently helpful, polite, and a credit to the establishment. Cleanliness issues: The bathroom-mould, bugs were crawling on the bedding (picture). There was a sticky residue on various surfaces, giving the impression of poor cleaning or a hidden anti‑slip coating(my little one joke), dirt stains on chairs. Health concerns: We woke up with bites, indicating something in the room bit us during the night. In-room equipment: Instructions said to dial “0” on the phone for assistance, yet there was no phone provided. Dining: Our child enjoyed fish and chips, but other meals were disappointing. pizza lacked sauce and was burnt. we requested BBQ sauce, but when I pointed out the issue, the waitress said it was “too late,” showing no willingness to fix the mistake. My wife’s burger was bland and lacked taste and again sauce. Considering the quality, the food seemed overpriced. We would rate it 3/10 overall. (3 as child liked fish) The bar staff were rude and made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. At breakfast, we requested three baguettes and two croissants. Initially we were told “no problem,” but then the waitress informed us there were “no extras,” and we received only 2 baguettes and 2croissant. We were willing to pay for additional but were never given the chance. overall, there seemed to be a lack of basic customer service training among bar and breakf

Very clean hotel , room is very clean and tidy. Staff are so helpful and very polite to the guests. I would rate this hotel a 5*

Great setting and easy large car park. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was very clean but the bath was old and badly chipped and corroded. Check out staff were aware of the bad bath condition. Breakfast was acceptable providing you did not have a large appetite.

Pleasant, spacious rooms. Very dated.

Scenery of the lake is beautiful. No air-conditioning in the room and common corridor.

Stayed for 1 night for a business trip. Room was dated but still in good condition, bed comfortable and view dedent. Shower was too hot and turning the temperature down turned the pressure down significantly so it was an awkward balance. If I had to go to Rochester again I would still stay here. Lakeside view is much better than roadside also.

The hotel was good, the lake was lovely I had a lakeside room which was nice but one thing that was terrible was the size of the tv , it seemed like it was the same size as my laptop screen apart from that a good hotel, I like to watch tv and relax so I wasn’t happy about that or I would have give 5 stars. Aside from that great hotel

Except the receptionist, the staff was really helpful and kind. The receptionist was either totally ignorant or lacking common sense.Despite seeing me and my partners with crutches, he gave us a room way further away from the lift. Also the room didn’t have an accessible bathroom. When we were leaving when I asked if they had disabled rooms, he said yes. The surroundings were amazing, beautiful and tranquil. They also had an impressive breakfast menu. Over all we enjoyed being there.

Came into Gravesend from London for a friend's funeral. Checked in early without any charge...room was spacious and warm, loved my room as it had the LAKE view, very relaxing. Food (breakfast and lunch) was nicely cooked, fresh and hot. Adequate lighting in room and bathroom. Water temperature was perfect. Beautiful and efficient staff. Thank you 😊 💓. I will be visiting again

A quick stop off, however the room had been allocated incorrectly, this meant a 45 minute wait at reception to check in. They sorted there error … but it should not have taken 45 minutes. The manager didn’t seem to have an understanding of the lay out of the rooms … it was all rather fawlty towers . Hotel is well over due a refurb it’s very much stuck in the 80s. Breakfast was disappointing, bland, cheap products with domestic toasters and basic filter coffee machine sprinkled with dreadful music . I’m sure this place was good back in the day … the rooms were clean but it’s definitely had its day !!

The staff were so friendly and helpful - a real credit to your company. The outside area was delightful and the beds were very comfortable so a very enjoyable stay. Breakfast was also very good so would stay here again!

Service was so bad we stayed 23rd Aug and ordered a meal in the evening which we waited nearly 1 1/2 hrs for when i complained i was told it was because they were catering for a party of 50, but they still took our order for the food, when it arrived it was very basic more like canteen food. Very poor service unfortunately

Great location to Cyclopark being only a short drive away - hotel is a bit dated but is clean and rooms are comfy and spacious - breakfast wasn’t brilliant with choices and freedom to have croissants etc - cooked breakfast was ok though - it is a budget hotel though - lovely quiet area and great views over the lake - friendly staff.

Too much noise from the motorway if you expect to use the outdoor facilities

We had a lovely stay The Inn on the lake. Gorgeous grounds, cosy furnishings in the hotel. Breakfast was good quality and simple. We stayed while visiting Brands hatch for an event. We will atay again when atending future events. We stayed dueinf the heatwave and the room got very hot, there was a ceiling fan. No air con and we couldn't keep the window open as on rhe ground floor.

Pretty location, easily accesible

Beautiful lakeside setting one side, busy road the other (which you can hear but isnt too bad to watch tv/sleep). Decent size bathroom, hot water and good pressure. Decent size twin room with lots of counter space. Tiny tv but lots of channels. Good heating with fast results, plus a ceiling fan for summer is brilliant. Lots of electric sockets and 2 x usb ports. Beds were comfortable. The pillows were awful! One was lumpy, one hard, one thin which was the only negative for our sleep. Late checkout 11am allowed for spare time to go feed the ducks on the lake. Tea and coffee provided, but very small mugs (why dont hotels provide normal size mugs for Tea?!). Clean, tidy and presentable throughout room, reception, grounds, bar, lounge, restaurant. A lot of areas being decorated (Feb 2025). VERY DOG FRIENDLY & WELCOMING. Given a dog pack with a treat, map and poo bag. They even do afternoon dog tea which is lovely. Dogs allowed throughout the bar and lounge all day/night. You have a separate seating area for them to accompany you for breakfast. They offer a bowl of water. They ask does your dog want a bowl. VERY DISABLED FRIENDLY with friendly stairs, lifts, ramps, electric doors and parking. All staff, including the decorators and building staff, were lovely. Very friendly, kind, and polite. Cooked English breakfast included in the price was a very good deal indeed. The ONLY negative was being luke warm, not hot.

The hotel is by the motorway so can’t be blamed for noise on a warm night when you have windows open. It’s also being refurbished. But the woods next door make it a great stop if you have a dog. And the staff are fantastic. Good value for money, too.

Friendly staff and great service, breakfast and evening meals were good quality.

Bar is very small and food poor, went to bed without eating

Hotel dated but large rooms and clean. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Bar staff very friendly. Meal was good value and tasty. Breakfast was a complete let down. Watered down orange juice. Cooked breakfast was okay. Cheap ingredients and some of it was cold. Would have expected better quality for the price of our overnight stay.

Lovely staff and great food

The Inn on the Lake Hotel is excellent value. The low price included a full service English breakfast (also other varied offerings). Restaurant had a wide range of oferings. I will stay there again.

Definitely NOT worth £98 per night. The staff were really nice especially the young black guy in the restaurant on Saturday and Sunday morning. The breakfast was very poor. The tea and the coffee….if that’s what you could call it were awful. Moving on to the bedroom. Moderately clean but the bed and the quilt had both seen better days. Very lumpy and very uncomfortable. In short we will not be returning. It’s such a shame because the setting for this hotel is lovely.
