Windsor River View Inn

My daughter and I stayed there for two nights. The TV remote did not work and I complained various times. I was told to use the buttons on the side of the TV. Really not acceptable. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was scary and had no cover. On the upside the location is fantastic. The owners have done nothing to upgrade the hotel in years as I have stayed here various times. It is a shame because it has so much potential. The driveway needs fixing as the front and back of your car gets smashed everytime you drive over it. The carpets are so worn it not even funny. Such a shame it has a lovely outlook over the river. I can say they have fixed up the garden out the back which looks so much better.

Shower curtain was filthy and covered with mould, especially around the bottom half of curtain. Not acceptable. Parking a bit of an issue as spaces aren’t clearly defined, and there isn’t enough space for cars in car park anyway.

Others parking in front of me and blocking me in, too bad if there was an medical emergency, no one really cared not even the male receptionist. Upon entry i had to fill in a form providing car registration details, apparently others never filled that in. And the police should not have to be notified. The entire premises floor has never been vacuumed for a very long time, dusty and dirty, room 17 had food stains on the brick wall, never been cleaned off, dust inside the wine glasses, A black bug was found on one of the bed sheets, dirty unwashed blankets with hair on them. The bed covers shabby with blood stains and tear holes. Mould in the building, you can smell it.Towels are thin and shabby, frayed edges and makeup stains. Rubbish at the front around the trees. this place is disgusting, nothing good to say about it, do not waste your money here. Building is in poor condition from the inside. Many others were also complaining at the reception, nothing was being done about it.

Had 1 adult & 2 children stay. but there was only 2 towels & 1 small pack soap, only 2 glasses. Bench had not been cleaned properly. Beds however were clean & comfortable.

Bins were not emptied from previous people. Old toilet roll on hanger Room wasn’t made up between days Doors didn’t shut properly Bed linen was clean clean Bathroom was just ok

Lack of room amenities - a tea towel was provided, but no dishwashing liquid; no toaster; 1 teaspoon; not enough soap, etc. This place used the excuse of COVID not to replace towels, etc. We had to pay a $100 deposit for our key when we checked in, but had difficulty getting it back when checking out. We did have a view of the Hawkesbury.

Stayed two nights, room was not serviced, had to ask for fresh towels. ran out of tea etc, Not very welcoming at Front desk.. We extended our stay by one night on arrival and we were forced to pay by CASH , this also applied to others who were booking in at that time

The sheets appeared to not have been changed. Crumpled, with fluff and hair, looked slept in. Doona cover stained and grubby. Laid my bath towel on the bed to sleep on… Didn’t get in till late so had no choice, glad I didn’t have my wife with me. Bad mould in shower, like no one had cleaned it in a long time. Just really dirty unfortunately. But somewhere to stay for the night so better than nothing. Just want to bring this up as it was a bit of a concern. Pillows were comfy, and pillow covers appeared clean. Mattress itself was actually very comfortable… just didn’t want to get “into” bed. Really nice view of the river out the balcony. Not normally one to leave negative reviews, but feel others should be made aware. Very dated- but that was confused with grubbiness. With a bit of care and a clean up, would be a suitable overnighter.

Arrived late due to road blocked (car crash) was charged $20 extra for checking in late. Got to our room party of 4 only 2 towels. Stayed 3 nights no room service that’s ok but towels weren’t even changed had to go down every morning and ask for new ones. Beds were that old lumps everywhere. Room was far from clean wine glasses covered in dust.

The property was old and dated but the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The verandah could have done with a bit of a better clean as there were old cigarette butts on the wall and the corridor window sills had dead bugs in them. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

There was roaches all over the bench top & roach poop in the fridge and kitchen area. Bed is comfortable. Location is convenient. Nice view of the river. Property needs to be updated.

The gentleman who checked me in was lovely and gave great directions for places to eat. The room was a good layout but the cleanliness let it down. The inside of the shower curtain was putrid. The outside of the fridge had spill stains. The tea towel that the cups were placed on was dirty with a bit of food on it. No tissues and holder was quite dusty. Inside of kettle didn’t look too good, especially when you could wipe some of the brown stuff away. Bed sunk in the middle.

Based on other reviews I had low expectations but, considering the low price and excellent location, I thought it was pretty good. The place is about 15 years overdue for a refurb, with everything a bit shabby and worn, hence the budget price. However the location, looking across the river from a balcony, was great. It was an excellent base for my few days of exploring the history and landscapes of the Hawkesbury. One more thing: Windsor is full of little plaques attached to items and places of historical interest. I suggest the air conditioner in my room be recommended for a Heritage listing, as a good example of an ancient technology. Fortunately the weather was lovely and I was able to leave the door to my private balcony open all night.

Surprisingly for a low budget hotel the bed is comfy , service is good. The air con for heating is loud, though and turns off and on for temperature control. Great views from our room , shower was good pressure. Served us well for the purpose we needed (an overnight stay). I would stay here again.

The reception staff were indifferent to my needs. The bed lights and desk light weren’t working. I asked about it and was told that I could leave a note for the following day. When I said that I would need these lights, it was found there was a blown fuse. The mattress in the room sagged and was so uncomfortable. One of the towels had a hole in it. There was mould on the shower curtain. The one wine glass was dirty. The sensor lights in the hallway downstairs were full of bugs and the light fitting had bugs coated around the outside. The area of Windsor was lovely. If the motel put in a little effort it would be lovely. But it was like they couldn’t care less. Never again.

Location was perfect, right next to the river and a very short walk to the central shopping areas. Hotel is looking very tired, the TV only had 1 channel.

Room was clean and tidy on arrival. I could clearly hear the neighbour's TV through the wall while I was trying to go to sleep. There was no lock on the inside of the door which means anyone with the key could let themselves in so I'm incredibly unlikely to book here again for that safety reason alone.

First night the night clerk was very helpful, our second night our neighbours were noisy. We had a beautiful view of the Halksby River and is walking distance to town. Will visit again

The room was very clean and comfortable. However, there was no toaster or crockery despite having a microwave, and the balcony door could barely be opened.

The room was comfortable enough, but the bedside lights did not work which made it extremely dark when we needed the bathroom at night.

Showers terrible. Beds extremely uncomfortable.

This hotel took my money and then told me they were fully booked and could not stay But still have not refunded any money Do not deal with wotif or this hotel Just another indian scam I will be reporting to fair trading and taking legal action requiring compensation for other out of pocket cost to find somewhere else at the last minute Which cost 3 times the price Do not trust these booking sits and book dirrect with the hotel is better I was on a budget weekend away for my birthday and i am now unable to feed my children Because i have had no refund Legal claim for damages and stress plus iniisial cost of a room that did not exist

Only one bed in original rooms allocated. This was fixed on request. One of the alternate rooms provided was dirty and had not been made up. Again this was fixed on request

Nice views of the Hawkesbury River and farmland. Bed comfy and good size. Bathroom clean and tidy and good shower. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy walk up to Windsor shops, 100m Short on room utensils and glassware (need to ask) Recommended! 😁😃

I dont usually leave reviews , but thought i had to here. The reception guy i give my bond money to i never received it back , so i contacted him 4 days later he said do i have my receipt i said no its in the room , he says i have to wait a week before i can recieve it because i lost the receipt, its been a week now still nothing. Im a qualified pestcontroller i travel around Australia for work and have stayed at many different places over the years the room i stayed in was by far the worst i have experienced for bed bugs , whole place needs a bomb to get rid of them. I now have to bomb my place at home as bed bugs are hard to get rid , i could feel them instantly soon as laying in bed , so i put towels over the blankets and slept on them. I wouldnt recommend this place even for a dog to stay at , absolutely terrible experience. The reception guy that was there didnt get his name but was of inidan appearance was rude and said the bond money would be put into my bank soon i left , nothing went in had to chase the money up still no money and its been a week now. Ill be heading in there on tuesday to get my money back , i have contacted Australian Competition and Consumer Commission as my father works there about the health and safety of people staying there as bed bugs can cause bad infections to people , so this should speed up the process of someome coming to check this place out .

Look I am not going to be overly critical because you get what you pay for. The check-in process was very simple and quick so no issues there. Onto the room and then it was evident from entering that the bed sheets did not appear to be overly fresh and it appeared that the bedspreads were thrown from the door onto the beds in a very unprofessional manner and presentation, there were no towels at all but they did arrive about 45 minutes later, the benches were a bit dirty, and finally the air conditioner did not work - fortunately it wasn’t a hot balmy Windsor night. Overall it was just satisfactory but geez guys I think you could lift your game a bit.

Quiet, convenient for looking around the town.

Location was perfect, right next to the river and a very short walk to the central shopping areas. Hotel is looking very tired, the TV only had 1 channel.

This morning I turned on the hot water in the shower to get it warm before I got in, well it was warm, so I attempted to get it hotter, but instead it got bloody COLDER, I'm almost 80 and well past needing a cold shower at 7.30in the morning I notified the owner when checking out and "oh no pressure " I said "No,no hot water " I even presented him with the receipt for the deposit for an extra $100.00 security deposit and wad given the reply that American Express would reverse the transaction, I am definitely not happy with the business. I asked about breakfast, the reply was none available if I want meals to go out down theroad and up the hill plenty up the main street, No I can't recommend this motel.

A nice place to stay we came for a weekend of boat racing we all liked the town and the area good food and and walking around..
