Booked the hotel specifically as it had a pool, only to then be told after I had paid via the confirmation email that thr pool is shut! NO mention of this on the listing! Hotels.com said I had to talk to the hotel for a refund, hotel wouldn't do anything, so I spent a lot of money for a room with a pool not to benefit from having a swim like I wanted. Room was OK but not impressed that they then charged me for parking on top, and also charged my boyfriend to park when he came to pick me up for our night out. Staff were snooty when asked why it wasn't clear before booking that the pool is shut and offered no apology. Won't be back!

Location & price was good. I was in a co-joined room and the guests next door were loud which caused disruption when i was trying to get to sleep. Also shower was not very powerful so not a great experience.

I booked through Tesco Clubcard thinking it would be a nice treat and to escape heatwave. Holiday Inn had other ideas. First surprise: £50 deposit at check‑in, never mentioned anywhere beforehand. Nothing says “welcome” like an unexpected bill before you even get the room key. The pool? Closed for maintenance. Of course it was. Why maintain it before guests arrive when you can maintain it during their stay. The second bed was a sofa bed that actually looked decent at first glance… until you lay on it. Flimsy, uncomfortable, and clearly designed for decoration rather than sleeping. Turned on the air con and a few tiny flies appeared, like they’d been waiting backstage for their cue. Not a full swarm, but enough to make you wonder if they were included in the room rate. Then the hygiene surprises: a green mystery substance on a towel a white suspicious smear on the headboard At this point I wasn’t sure if I was in a hotel or a low‑budget crime scene. Breakfast was the grand finale. Tiny flies enjoying the fruit and pastries like they owned the place. One even tried to land on my bacon — and didn’t survive the experience. When the insects are dying on your plate, it’s time to check out emotionally and physically.
