Run down, dirty hotel very disappointed. We had stay out all day to avoid the place. Shower flooded bathroom. Electric plug sockets worked one day and not the next. Curtains were falling down. Kettle in room was absolutely filthy. Lifts out of order. Staff unhelpful and not friendly. Avoid at all costs even if you’re looking for cheap hotel.

Looks like a WWII bombsite outside due to historic fire damage.Very shabby, tired, delapidated decoration externally. Top floor (5) not accessable by lift as out of order and requiring hand luggage to be carried by myself, from floor 4 to floor 5, I was not even offered assistance at all. The bannister hand rail from floors 4 to 5 was very dirty and sticky, our request to have it cleaned was carried out very quickly by the house staff in their defence. The corridors to our room, like the external, tired and shabby, rainwater stains, marks on the walls and ceilings, water penetration evident! The room was pleasant enough, clean and well presented, The windows have probably not been cleaned since installation leading to the requested sea view being some what obscured! No car parking facilities at all, so parking available in council roadside at £5.50 for 4 hours, though free between 4pm till 10am, assuming you can find a space, We have stayed in other Hotels in the past in LLandudno, we appreciate that they are all Victorian / Edwardian properties and require a lot of love and attention, some properties obviously receiving more than others, it would appear that, I`m sorry to say` the supposed `Grand`est is receiving the least. This despite the high turnover of Guests. I believe our experience of "The Grand Hotel" fell very short of our expectations and has left us very disappointed considering the price we paid for our 49th Wedding Anniversary accomodation !

No parking, Patio door wouldn`t lock and safety device was not connected even though there was a warning on the hotel leaflet not to use the balcony for safety reasons. Bathroom door could not be closed from outside ( no handles) to stop the permanent light shining through during the night. The staff were excellent as was the food the dining room was also well kept.

We stayed at the Grand as a family of 4 on half term. The room was poorly booked by Expedia but was quickly sorted by staff.The entertainment was great but was quite late for the kids.Great location, great time we will be back!!

WiFi only worked downstairs - not in your rooms. Breakfast buffet was dried out under the warmers, Hoping fresh fruit and yogurt would make up for it. However fruit selection was tinned peaches, or tinned fruit cocktail. Yuk!

This hotel is the worse i have ever been to. Says free WiFi on site but only free in lobby area, charge is £7.00 per day per device in your room and we had booked for 8 days! The food was so bad we had to eat out, trays of fried food every day , we had to ask what it actually was and when i asked what type of fish one evening member of staff just shrugged, its fish he said!!! Window were screwed shut in restaurant in case "seagulls got in" it was stiffling. Oh and the rooms were never cleaned, not company policy, , onky things "topped up" if you put out a notice , so nothing done for whole stay, needless to say we left early.

The room was not clean when we arrived and was not cleaned during our stay. We were not told breakfast times and in booklet it said times were subject to change. We paid for our breakfast but on bank holiday Sunday when we arrived at 9am were told we were too late. The hotel is very noisy, people shouting and whooping. The parking is a nightmare. Before I arrived I was told I could park on the streets, but the streets were full and all had meters. The car park would let you pay a maximum of 24 hours so we had to get up early every day to keep paying. When I asked at reception he laughed and said good luck. Not very helpful. However the hotel is right next to the sea and the great Orme, also close to shops and amenities. Lots of great restaurants.

place needed a good clean in places bedding was clean and fresh and it could do with a lick of paint everywhere. no service of your room the whole entire stay if you want fresh towels, tea coffee etc or toilet roll you have to ask at reception. breakfast was ok plenty of it and warm. staff very friendly i would stop again as it met our needs

Me and my family stayed here for the weekend, ill start with the Negatives the ground floor toilets has you enter were not acceptable there was never any toilet paper or soap and a dirty nappy was left in the middle of the floor which i understand is not the hotels fault but the disgusting person who left it there but when the reception staff were informed they said they couldint do anything about it at that time and the nappy was still there later that day which just means there is no regular cleaner or inspection of the toilets. On first appearances the hotel didnt really impress me its shabby looking and there is bird poo on all the windows which is quite sickening when your eating breakfast in the dining room, all the wndows could do with a good clean. These were my only nagative points has i was pleasently supprised just how much i enjoyed my stay here, the staff are pleasent, the hotel was nicer on the inside, our quadruple room was basic and nice with tea making facilities, t.v, wardrobe, the room was clean and the bed was the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. The entertainment that night was good also with 2 singers and then a giggle at the karaoke, i stayed up way past my bedtime for it lol. The dining room was a nice size, i liked the buffet breakfast and the food was good. Overall despite my nagatives i would stay in this hotel again.

The women on the front desk was very rude not welcoming had no manners never said please or thankyou or have a nice stay nothing very bad attitude didnt even smile . Had to go back down as key didnt work very rude when handing key back to me . We were not informed about breakfast time i asked another someone else who was staying there aswell. Room was dirty dirty cups and spoons with food on . Drawns with crumbs and hair in bits under bed so hadn't been hovered. Tray with some tea bags and coffee in all dirty very unpleasant stay . Beds not comfortable and very old basic Furniture it felt like a hostel room . No coffe in the morning at breakfast the machine was broken Only thing we enjoyed was the singer at night.

There is no onsite parking at all you have to park in town and walk. The hotel is very dated. Our room was unclean and very tired. We didnt even stay for breakfast. 2 bags of rubbish and dirty glasses left on landing by lifts. We wont use this hotel again

Dirty. Room smelt like urine and the carpet was soggy. Placed in a top attic window with window looking into a window tunnel, with it being so windy the window kept blowing open through the night and it was so noisy. Both my daughters have coughs since going (foisty and mould probably to blame). Bar staff miserable except one young lad. Check in said 1pm on a Wednesday... But couldnt check in till 3. Very dirty overall and saw several police visits to hotel rooms. Will NOT be returning.

This hotel is not grand by any means. Our arrival was 30 mins early and desk staff were not particularly welcoming. They do not make up beds and replace used drink items, or empty the bins daily. My bathroom had deep scratches on the bath, some mould, a leaky radiator pipe, leaky soap dispenser and damaged fixings. The so-called balcony restriction devices were not fixed to both sides of the doors and could easily be opened. Dangerous considering the height of some rooms. Balconies are rusty on the edges and do not encourage use. Then there are the ants in the bathroom and near the bed and eventually, they crawled over my bed. Both my room and my friend's room had them. I was offered fly spray and advised the maintenance team would investigate. I was moved to another room, (balcony issues the same), and subjected to a loud whirring noise until late evening. (? mechanical) When I enquired the next day about maintenance I overheard a receptionist say there were no maintenance staff. Whether she meant on that day or always, she did not elaborate. As we were leaving, we sat in the quiet room where luggage is openly displayed and not locked away, and the chair my friend leant on collapsed. The leg fell off. Finally, we asked for a taxi booking and it did not turn up. We would never go back and never recommend it to anyone.

We love Llandudno. 1st stay at the Grand wont be the last. Great view from the room, great size room. Could have been cleaner, wouldnt take much. Good clean bedding. Value for money. The outstanding points are your waitress Jo at dinner and breakfast who went above and beyond to make our stay great, and one of the chefs at breakfast (unfortunately i didnt get his name). They're the ones that make the difference.
We love Llandudno. 1st stay at the Grand wont be the last. Great view from the room, great size room. Could have been cleaner, wouldnt take much. Good clean bedding. Value for money. The outstanding points are your waitress Jo at dinner and breakfast who went above and beyond to make our stay great, and one of the chefs at breakfast (unfortunately i didnt get his name). Booked the hotel for a laugh having stayed at the other Brittania Grand hotel in Scarborough. It generally didn’t really meet even our very low expectations as the rooms were boiling hot with no way of ventilating as the windows/balcony doors were secured shut. Every single bit of the floor creaked in both our room and the room above making the likely innocent movements of our neighbours above sound like they were having a Morris dancing competition at 3am. The bed, although likely relatively new, was of extremely poor quality and tough as a rock was higher at the foot than it was at the headboard leading to an extremely uncomfortable nights sleep while also being kept awake by the tap dancing above. The shower head was new although the bathroom extremley dated and there was no soap avaliable for showering or handwashing after using the toilet. Downstairs, the entrance and bar area had been given a fresh lick of paint and comfortable armchairs decorated the “nan’s living room” esq entertainment room. The seating while large and comfortable did lack in avaliability. Housekeeping started banging on doors from 9am but were friendly enough. Its best suited as a beer and banter hotel but would suggest booking an extra night for late checkout as you won’t get much sleep at conventional sleeping hours.

Location was perfect but rooms were terrible walls wafer thin you could hear neighbours both sides and above, the floor boards creaked so loud in all rooms by us, a few times when we were in bed we thought people had entered our room due to thin wall's.Had a family room with grandson it was so small you had to walk sideways to get to the dirty french windows that was falling apart, balcony was dismal. Worse hotel weve ever stayed in in over 30years. Blonde haired receptionist was cocky and unhelpful, asked for milk, teabags, toilet roll and towels to be taken to room, she started laying them out on counter! We had a 4 night stay. Best advice i can give is give it a wide berth.

Nice hotel and location but staff need training and need to welcome in good manner as they need to know the hospitality and warm welcome and explain all the facilities such as breakfast timing ,breakfast area ,check out time ,prices of breakfast internet facilities and how to connect and also surrounding and many more which makes the guest more satisfied and happy for the services as people pay for services and wanted to feel that they are in such environment where they enjoy and get relax and enjoy the holidays and stay .

Looks like a WWII bombsite outside due to historic fire damage.Very shabby, tired, delapidated decoration externally. Top floor (5) not accessable by lift as out of order and requiring hand luggage to be carried by myself, from floor 4 to floor 5, I was not even offered assistance at all. The bannister hand rail from floors 4 to 5 was very dirty and sticky, our request to have it cleaned was carried out very quickly by the house staff in their defence. The corridors to our room, like the external, tired and shabby, rainwater stains, marks on the walls and ceilings, water penetration evident! The room was pleasant enough, clean and well presented, The windows have probably not been cleaned since installation leading to the requested sea view being some what obscured! No car parking facilities at all, so parking available in council roadside at £5.50 for 4 hours, though free between 4pm till 10am, assuming you can find a space, We have stayed in other Hotels in the past in LLandudno, we appreciate that they are all Victorian / Edwardian properties and require a lot of love and attention, some properties obviously receiving more than others, it would appear that, I`m sorry to say` the supposed `Grand`est is receiving the least. This despite the high turnover of Guests. I believe our experience of "The Grand Hotel" fell very short of our expectations and has left us very disappointed considering the price we paid for our 49th Wedding Anniversary accomodation !

The staff could not have been more helpful and the hotel was very clean and warm, the food served at breakfast was excellent and the variety was very good. The building itself was very interesting and the history was fascinating. Refurbishment was ongoing while we there which tended to take a bit of the shine off our experience but these things have to be done. All in all a very good stay with the only complaints that the room seemed a bit cramped and the bed was old.

The women on the front desk was very rude not welcoming had no manners never said please or thankyou or have a nice stay nothing very bad attitude didnt even smile . Had to go back down as key didnt work very rude when handing key back to me . We were not informed about breakfast time i asked another someone else who was staying there aswell. Room was dirty dirty cups and spoons with food on . Drawns with crumbs and hair in bits under bed so hadn't been hovered. Tray with some tea bags and coffee in all dirty very unpleasant stay . Beds not comfortable and very old basic Furniture it felt like a hostel room . No coffe in the morning at breakfast the machine was broken Only thing we enjoyed was the singer at night.

This hotel is not grand by any means. Our arrival was 30 mins early and desk staff were not particularly welcoming. They do not make up beds and replace used drink items, or empty the bins daily. My bathroom had deep scratches on the bath, some mould, a leaky radiator pipe, leaky soap dispenser and damaged fixings. The so-called balcony restriction devices were not fixed to both sides of the doors and could easily be opened. Dangerous considering the height of some rooms. Balconies are rusty on the edges and do not encourage use. Then there are the ants in the bathroom and near the bed and eventually, they crawled over my bed. Both my room and my friend's room had them. I was offered fly spray and advised the maintenance team would investigate. I was moved to another room, (balcony issues the same), and subjected to a loud whirring noise until late evening. (? mechanical) When I enquired the next day about maintenance I overheard a receptionist say there were no maintenance staff. Whether she meant on that day or always, she did not elaborate. As we were leaving, we sat in the quiet room where luggage is openly displayed and not locked away, and the chair my friend leant on collapsed. The leg fell off. Finally, we asked for a taxi booking and it did not turn up. We would never go back and never recommend it to anyone.

I stayed on a half board option the breakfast choice was acceptable but I was very disappointed with the dinner choices and was given the same pudding for the four days I was there. Also although the room was large and overall clean we had a cistern leak in the bathroom which I had to report three times before it was fixed “Grand it was not’

Overall was good short stay,room was comfortable and clean dinner was nice but breakfast was a little lacking, I stayed in one of these hotels in Blackpool a few days earlier they had a proper coffee machine ( latte, cappuccino etc. ) and also orange juice, the Grand breakfast lacked both of these things.

WiFi only worked downstairs - not in your rooms. Breakfast buffet was dried out under the warmers, Hoping fresh fruit and yogurt would make up for it. However fruit selection was tinned peaches, or tinned fruit cocktail. Yuk!

Did not realise it was a pontins hotel before we got there. Food extremely basic 2 choices at dinner + vegetarian if you are not there at 5.30 expect 1 choice , staff have no manners, the ents team are the only good thing and put 100% into with little feed back. The public areas the reception , bar and restaurant are beautiful and clean, the rest of building very tired looking and looks like minimal clean done. Would not go back like a typical pontins

Well let’s just say the grand hotel is not so grand any more!! Very poorly maintained. Dirty rooms. Don’t mind outdated but dirty is not for me. Shame as it could be such a lovely hotel and was once back in the day ! Unfortunately the owners have now let it go too far and it’s just a mess! Staff don’t really seem that interested in helping with any issues. Checked out after one night and moved hotels! The lily on the west shore was absolutely beautiful! Would definitely recommend the lily! Never ever stay at the grand again! Beware people I understand for cheap you don’t expect a lot but cleanliness isn’t about to ask for!

The hotel is extremely run down, we stayed 3 nights and our towels and bedding wasn't changed once. The staff were very helpful and the food was ok. Also when we stayed we had to park over 1 mile away as there's no on site parking. The location is great but beware even though we booked a sea view and the picture showed a balcony we only had a small window to look out of.

I have stayed here a few times over the years and yes it’s never been the best place to stay. As they say you get what you pay for. So I thought after hearing about the multi million refurb I would give it another try. Yes the the reception area and main bar had new carpets and furniture and look good. I had room 317 (standard room) it should be recessed as bog standard with sea view. The phrase that you can’t polish a turd came to mind. If a lick of paint and new carpet is a refurb god knows what the other rooms look like. Bathroom door that won’t close without a push rusty radiator just painted over not even bothered to scrape the old paint off. The main bar closed at 7.30pm leaving only the ballroom bar open. So if you wanted a drink you had to go down stairs and bring it up to the main bar if you weren’t interested with what was going on down there. This was not very convenient for people with mobility issues of which there was plenty and moaning but nothing being done. As for the food not the best. Cheap and cheerful evening meal not much choice. Breakfast hard fried eggs well over cooked bacon and sausages which they just kept topping up by throwing the fresh out of the kitchen on top of the older food on the Buffett breakfast. No rotation whatsoever. No point in just refurbishing the structure of the hotel if you going to keep the same management and staff as nothing will ever improve on the hospitality side of things. Will I be staying here again. Definitely not.
