Royal Cambridge Hotel

This property is within easy walking distance of Paddington station. We were able to leave our bags in the lobby early in the morning, before our room was ready, on our day of arrival and after check-out on the day of departure, which was very convenient. It was next to the lift, so we expected it to be noisy, but the soundproofing was very good. There were no breakfast facilities, which was fine for us, and it completely served our purposes, we'd definitely stay here again

When I checked in, I was informed that the lift was not working. I specifically booked this hotel because it had a lift. My last night there and the morning of check out, there was no hot water. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The room was very small, there was no breakfast although it was listed,, and there was no mention of charge for the parking which cost us a further £60,had I known this I would have gone elsewhere as hotel is not worth the price

We had a good stay. The free breakfast was unavailable, which was disappointing, but there was a Tesco Express within walking distance. Overall, simple but decent.

At first they said they hadn't received the payment but I showed them the receipt. They said they hadn't received anything but let us in our room. It was not mentioned again during our stay. We were told to walk around the building and to walk up the stairs to find our room instead of using the lift which was a lot quicker and easier considering we had 2 luggage each. No secure area to leave bags prior to check in, we had to just leave under some set of stairs. Anyone could have taken our items. Our card key did not work and they had to provide the actual key to the room. Hard to turn the knob for the radiator and once the radiator is on, the bed is right next to it so easy to burn yourself over night. We had to block it with a pillow to ensure we didn't burn ourselves.

Basic travel hotel. Unfortunately the lifts are not working, so taking luggage up four flights was a bit much. Great location.

The Good: Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable bed, great shower, very close to Paddington, so getting there from Heathrow on the Elizabeth Line is super easy and quick. The Not So Good: No safe room to hold luggage, just a space under the stairs with a 'leave at your own risk' sign. I got in way before 2pm check in time, and didn't feel safe leaving my case, so had to drag it around London with me for 4 hours. Room 3 had no window, like a little cell, and was really hot. The AC didn't work the first night so sleep wasn't great, but Danny(?) on reception was very friendly and helped fix it ASAP in the morning. Take earplugs, the building is quite creaky and you can easily hear other guests stomping about. All in all, not bad. Just be aware you're paying for location, not amenities. I'd stay again if I got a good deal on a rate.

Great location for west/central London with local pubs bars restaurants etc. The staff were attentive and although basic the rooms were perfectly adequate and functional especially if only for a short break. Unfortunately the breakfast bar wasn’t available but Mimi’s Cafe was only a short stroll away.

Hotel needs a deep clean and maintenance. Issues with the door key.Thick dust everywhere didn't make me feel confident that the room had been cleaned. No lamps, broken/missing lights, odor in bathroom, and the worst shower I've ever used. Water came out of maybe 5 little holes, the rest sprayed out the back. Faucet knob fell off. Apparently the shower was leaking into the room below. Employee came into our room and called us 3 times within the space of an hour (9-10 Pm) after a long and stressful day and told us not to use the shower- we were unable to each have a shower. Overpriced for the condition and lack of a shower, we should have been offered compensation.

Absolutely wonderful little gem of a hotel, only a couple of minutes walk from Paddington Station. Easy to find, spotlessly clean, very cosy, friendly receptionist and for a solo traveller perfect! 🙂 Really exceeded my expectations and I hope to stay there again.

Good sized and spotless room, en-suite bathroom. Tea & coffee making facilities. In a good location for eating out and bus stops. The reception staff were very friendly.

The hotel is very close to Paddington station and many important tourist spots. The outside view is also good, but the problem is the cleanliness of the hotel. If you can ignore that, then you can try this place. Dust everywhere is still avoidable to some extent, but we got lice on the towel, which was horrible! At night, the thin wall can't stop the sounds of the road. The room size was okay, and the toilet was also okay.

I would recommend if you are in a tight budget but still want to be in a good location, the room was okay a bit on the small side and the bed was clean although the pillow were very thin. My issue was the shower, it had mould around the edges and the drain which you can avoid stepping on but still unpleasant and the closet had some sort of fan but it was covered in dust along side the rest of the closet.

Staff pleasant, close to tube station and high streets, WiFi good, room ok bed comfortable, tea/coffee facilities - only negative comments are that a glass had to be used to fill kettle as it didn’t fit under the tap, the curtains were too short letting light in and there was a smell like cat’s wee in shower room.

Good location as it’s close to Paddington Station. That is all that is good about this place. The room was visibly very dirty. The walls were filthy, hairs on the sheets, and a large toe nail was found on the floor. The shower didn’t drain so we were given a new room. That shower didn’t drain either and was equally as dirty. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Zero stars if I could. Horrific experience. I don’t even know where to begin. This was by far the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had in my life. The beds felt like stone slabs and the duvet covers were absolutely disgusting—filthy with brown stains that looked like they hadn't been washed in months. There was no air conditioning, so we had no choice but to sleep with the window open. That turned into a nightmare when we were jolted awake in pure terror by someone coming through our window. It wasn’t a burglar—it was the hotel’s cleaning crew. Yes, they were using our window in our room to fold laundry on. As if that wasn’t disturbing enough, they were also dropping heavy laundry bags from the top floor down to the ground outside our window, some 50 feet up. The sound was deafening and terrifying. We asked them repeatedly to stop. They didn’t. I went to the front desk and was assured it wouldn’t happen again—but sure enough, it did the very next morning. To make matters worse, we saw cleaning staff sleeping on freshly cleaned towels—yes, the same towels meant for guests. Everywhere we looked, there were bugs crawling around, and we even saw rats running by. The shower temperature changed from ice cold to scalding hot on its own, with zero warning. I cannot believe this place is legally allowed to operate. Save yourself the stress, discomfort, and horror—do not stay here.

Decent stay, easy walk from Paddington station. Was able to check in early. Our room was street level and at the front of the hotel which was pretty noisy in July when you need the windows open to keep cool. There was a fan in the room which was quite a nice surprise!

Remarkable value for money. Until I took a shower this hotel would have been faultless. Unfortunately the temperature control on the shower were dangerous in that their response was erratic clunky and delayed. The hottest temperature was scalding, well above safety levels. I didn't manage to adjust the shower unit to have a warm shower. d

This is a budget hotel but all the basics are right clean, comfortable bed, power shower in room 303 anyway, good lighting, large kettle with tea and coffee facilities. Ok the walls are a bit thin but it's a budget hotel in a converted townhouse. Definitely the best London budget hotel I have stayed in. 24 hour access with key card

Enough space for 5 people. Clean and convinience. Great location. 5 mintutes from Paddington station, close to restaurants and shopping. Be aware no AC in the room though. Small fan provided but was not good enough in August month.

Our “twin” room, Rm 2, was very small - given the smallest room in the hotel!! Nowhere to put open suitcases. No aircon. Bathroom was minute. Very little room between toilet, hand basin & shower. Approx 1 mtr wide. Only suitable for small to average sized people. The room really should be a single & the bathroom increased in size Bathroom door opens directly onto one of the twin beds & you need to be extremely careful not to hurt any one’s feet or knees Having said that the staff were lovely & very helpful. Hotel 3 mins walk to Paddington station trains, underground and buses. Lots of restaurants just around the corner. 10 mins walk from Edgeware Road.

This is an amazing location, a 5-minute walk from Paddington Station for buses, underground, and trains, shops, and lots of fast food and restaurants nearby. The price is reasonable. The reception at the hotel and the cleaning staff were friendly. The room was clean but showing its age, particularly the bathroom. Our basement room was tiny (we knew that before we booked) with no space to open two suitcases. There was no outside window (just a window into the stairwell). There is a lift so we didn't have to carry our cases up and down stairs. The Wi-Fi was very fast in our room. I would recommend a larger room if one is staying more than a night or two, or if you have more than one suitcase.

Staff were amazing. Helpful and polite. No wifi in room! Told it was the whole floor not working! Two days with no wifi is poor. Bed was very comfortable and spare pillows too. Room was tiny, and the en-suite. Shower only up high so had to wash my hair! The vent needed cleaning. The soap container was tight to the shelf so hard to pump it! Shampoo & body wash provided. Single glazed window and curtains not to the floor so a draft all night. Quiet hotel. Convenient to restaurants, railway and tube as well as Hyde Park.

We loved our visit to London! However, our trip was tainted by the dishonest staff at the Royal Cambridge. We came back to our room one evening to find several of our expensive electronics had been stolen. When we told the staff about it they said, "Sorry, we can't do anything about it, go file a police report." To say the least it put a damper on our trip. I would not recommend this hotel based on the dishonest staff.

When we arrived we were greeted by Denny, very polite young man. The room was very clean and ample for 4 people. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We are all tea drinkers so whenever we went and asked for extra tea bags or milk we were given big handfuls which was excellent. Checkout was very easy and quick. There was someone at the front desk 24/7 which was a big plus. We would definitely use the Royal Cambridge Hotel again whenever we go to London.

Great location. Very friendly staff, clean rooms - they are small but everything needed for an over night stay. Checked in early as room was ready, allowed us to store luggage when checking out the next day. Would stay again, good value for money.

Staff was rude upon check-in and we did not even end up staying at the hotel. Other guests were complaining about the cleanliness and the functioning of the shower heads in the rooms. We had to scramble to find another hotel last minute because of the way we were treated upon check-in. Do not recommend this hotel at ALL. They are prolonging the refund process even though they know of the situation that happened to us at check-in. Please save your money and don’t ever book here.

The hotel was adequate for my short stay in London with good transport links. However, I'm rating the property poor as there are electrical safety issues and sadly I sustained a burn to my hand from the plug of an electrical item provided by the hotel, that had not been electrical safety tested since 2019 and had clearly been tampered with since that time. When I reported the problem and my injury to the staff member on reception they did not appear concerned. I have since emailed the hotel management and had no response. Only stay at this hotel if you're happy to risk injury or dying in an electrical fire.

The staff was amazing, they are friendly and nice. I felt very welcomed.

I stayed there for two nights, which was perfectly manageable. I've been coming to Paddington for many years and I really like this neighborhood. I always choose a hotel within walking distance of Paddington Station and the Underground. I had never stayed at this hotel before, but so far it's one of the best I’ve been to. The staff are friendly. I arrived a bit early, but that wasn’t a problem. The rooms are nice, clean, and have all the basic amenities. I would definitely like to come back here for a short stay!

Thank you for letting us check in early it was very much appreciated as travelled through the night from Aberdeen so allowed my 11 yr grandson and I couple hours sleep before attending Hyde park concert person on deskwas very accommodating

This is the worst hotel i have stayed in! 5 rooms were burgled by means of key card access! Credit cards/jewelry/money was stolen, the manager would not come in and see what was going on! The front desk is often unmanned so anyone can wonder in, housekeeping is non existent…. This place is appalling DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR VALUABLES staying here!

Really convenient for Paddington Station. Reception staff were so helpful. Nice quiet location. Only negative was the lock on the door was broken.

Great stay for somewhere central to stay when exploring - we only needed the Elizabeth line, so perfect for that. Rooms are compact but clean and comfortable. Doors open and monitored 24/7 which was a bonus

Excellent location and helpful staff.

It is close to Paddington Station with lots of choices for traveling (tube and train) and easy grocery & gift shopping opportunities. It is also really close to Hyde Park, through which is a half an hour walk to Natural History, Science, Victoria and Albert Museums.

Clean room, very warm on a freezing cold day outside. Handy for Paddington Station. Only downside - no window in room.

Excellent and easy proximity to Paddington Station and the Elizabeth Line.

An excellent place to stay in the Westminster area! Paddington just minutes walk away! Hyde park and Kensington gardens close by! The tube makes everything easy to get to. Had a great stay!

When I booked the hotel it is included the breakfast, but the hotel actually doesn’t serve breakfast.

All staff without exception were very friendly and helpful. Had to take breakfast at a neighbouring hotel and the breakfast provided was very average. Hotel's location is good i.e. close to underground and a selection of shops and restaurants. Only negative was my room size and not enough desk space for my laptop. Room was very clean and well maintained.

Read some harsh reviews and was concerned but how wrong they are!! Yes it was small but not being funny your in London you only need a bed to sleep! The room was fine shower was good and fan was excellent. Only 2 downsides were A: the price was quite a lot for the room and facilities and B: no brekkie. Lad on desk was welcoming. Ont thing to point out that I wasn’t aware of, you need photo ID to check in. Id left my things at home as obviously don’t want too much in me walking around luckily husnbanf had his licence on him. All in all would stay again for convenience. Thanks guys

The name of the hotel and the front facia suggested that it was larger than it was and also would have more / some facilities. There was no dining at all even though there clearly had been a breakfast facility and there didn't appear to be any other standard hotel facilities. The toilet flush was temperamental and the sash windows wouldn't close properly and let noise from the street in as a result. In summary it was more of a small b&b type hotel but without the breakfast and was ok for a night if you just want a bed only.
