We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel has authentic decor and it even has an elevator. The hotel breakfast is very good as well. The staff is very friendly and informative. They were always available. There is also a coffee lounge that my husband loved. The things we did not like is that our room did not have any type of fan, it was very hot during the day and night. Eventually we got a fan and it worked ok. The lake access is shared with the community and it is not exclusive to guests. We paid for lake view and it was very noisy. Especially at night. So many people yelling and being loud, we needed to keep the windows open because it was so hot. Also the one day I wanted to relax on a lounge chair and read there was a yoga class for the public right on the hotel lawn where it’s supposed to be exclusive for guests. It disrupted the peace and quiet I was looking for. There were a lot of children and families at the lake and at the lawn right next to the hotel where it’s the public side. Overall it did not feel like peace and quiet or exclusive. The bed was not as comfortable either. The pillows were so flat I had to stack my pillows to get some type of support.

From walking into the hotel and being greeted by the nice young man, to the library with coffee, to the medieval theme and updated bathrooms, we were delighted with this hotel. Our room was so spacious with an AC unit and we enjoyed the sister restaurant across the street. Lovely stay!!

Such a gorgeous property right on the Lake. Beautiful rooms and friendly staff. Train station right near by if you do not have a car and want to use public transport. Private lakefront at the back which is just serene and glorious.

Check in was fast and effortless. We were able to get a reservation for dinner at the same time. The hotel interior is charming and elegant. A cafe next door sold us a wine to take to the waterside at the hotel’s private park. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious. You must have the chateaubriand. Beautiful setting. We will be back!

I loved this quaint hotel with wonderful old world charm, nestled in a small town close to Lucern, Merlichachen. Beautifully maintained structural wood beamed rafters, doors and hardware of medieval style throughout the hotel. Also, of equal charm was the serene lakefront property grounds, beautifully landscaped and was a lovely quiet respite from our travels. The bathrooms were completely remodeled and beautifully appointed with everything new and immaculate. If I am fortunate enough to return to Switzerland, I will certainly stay in this hotel.

O chalé pareceu um pouco antigo, mas bem cuidado e limpo. O quarto é amplo com espaço para as malas. O box de banho é muito pequeno. O local é muito bonito, tranquilo e próximo ao lago, perfeito para uma caminhada ou contemplação; fica localizado um pouco afastado do centro da cidade mas isso não foi um problema, pois há parada de ônibus em frente ao chalé e estação de trem a poucos minutos de caminhada. Café da manhã muito bom que pode ser adquirido a parte por 25 CHF. Recomendo.

The young gentle at front desk who helped me to check in is very nice, very supportive and helpful. The room I lived in was a bit dusty, probably haven't been cleaned/no people lived for a while. But again, the young gentleman staff who helped me to check in is very nice.

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at in terms of setting and service. The front of house staff were both friendly and very efficient helping with both queries and advice. The restaurant and breakfast rooms are located in a seperate building opposite the main hotel. The breakfast buffet was high quality with a good choice of food and, while the hotel restaurant menu had a number of interesting dishes it wasn't our style of food. That said, there is a great Argentinian restaurant right next door which served a wide variety of the most excellent food backed up by very friendly and helpful staff which we would recommend most highly. Thank you Merlischachen for five wonderful days

Check in was fast and effortless. We were able to get a reservation for dinner at the same time. The hotel interior is charming and elegant. A cafe next door sold us a wine to take to the waterside at the hotel’s private park. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious. You must have the chateaubriand. Beautiful setting. We will be back!

The young gentle at front desk who helped me to check in is very nice, very supportive and helpful. The room I lived in was a bit dusty, probably haven't been cleaned/no people lived for a while. But again, the young gentleman staff who helped me to check in is very nice.

O chalé pareceu um pouco antigo, mas bem cuidado e limpo. O quarto é amplo com espaço para as malas. O box de banho é muito pequeno. O local é muito bonito, tranquilo e próximo ao lago, perfeito para uma caminhada ou contemplação; fica localizado um pouco afastado do centro da cidade mas isso não foi um problema, pois há parada de ônibus em frente ao chalé e estação de trem a poucos minutos de caminhada. Café da manhã muito bom que pode ser adquirido a parte por 25 CHF. Recomendo.

Such a gorgeous property right on the Lake. Beautiful rooms and friendly staff. Train station right near by if you do not have a car and want to use public transport. Private lakefront at the back which is just serene and glorious.

I loved this quaint hotel with wonderful old world charm, nestled in a small town close to Lucern, Merlichachen. Beautifully maintained structural wood beamed rafters, doors and hardware of medieval style throughout the hotel. Also, of equal charm was the serene lakefront property grounds, beautifully landscaped and was a lovely quiet respite from our travels. The bathrooms were completely remodeled and beautifully appointed with everything new and immaculate. If I am fortunate enough to return to Switzerland, I will certainly stay in this hotel.

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at in terms of setting and service. The front of house staff were both friendly and very efficient helping with both queries and advice. The restaurant and breakfast rooms are located in a seperate building opposite the main hotel. The breakfast buffet was high quality with a good choice of food and, while the hotel restaurant menu had a number of interesting dishes it wasn't our style of food. That said, there is a great Argentinian restaurant right next door which served a wide variety of the most excellent food backed up by very friendly and helpful staff which we would recommend most highly. Thank you Merlischachen for five wonderful days

From walking into the hotel and being greeted by the nice young man, to the library with coffee, to the medieval theme and updated bathrooms, we were delighted with this hotel. Our room was so spacious with an AC unit and we enjoyed the sister restaurant across the street. Lovely stay!!

What a gem of a hotel, we loved being on the water which was quite refreshing to swim in after our long flight. Air conditioning was a welcome treat as the day was hot. I would stay here again.

Absolutely stunning property and really luxurious rooms. The lakeside seating area was perfect to soak in the mountains and lake views. I'm only giving four stars because the listing we booked through indicated there was a free shuttle service from the train station and there was not. Something else to keep in mind, this location is 7 miles from the train station and Ubers are expensive - about 60 USD each way (if that's what you choose to use rather than public transportation).

Great position on the Lake with easy access into Luzern, CHF4 each way. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with standalone Aircon which proved useful during our visit. Be aware most room do not have an unrestricted view of the lake due to a property in front of the hotel. Breakfast is taken across the road at the old hotel, but is good. The restaurant is in the same location across the road and we had a reasonable meal there. There is also a good Brazilian restaurant nearby. Be aware parking whilst easy costs CHF10 per night. Would we go again. Probably yes
