The Waterside Hotel and Leisure Club

The hotel was quiet though the leisure club was very busy. Despite this, the individual attention we received was second to none. A great staff in a very good hotel which I would definitely recommend.

Room very very small despite booking what is described as a king room - it was very small with a double bed. Very noisy with road noise and other rooms. Hugrly dissaponting that we were unable to use the swimming pool due to aqua aeorbics all morning! Booked this hotel especially to use the facilties to enjoy with my daughter which we could not utilise. Food was limted and breakfast very basic.

Great location but be warned, the small rooms really are small. It’s not comfortable for two people. The pools are a great bonus too and a lovely breakfast spread.

Stayed in room 103 on ground floor. Constant doors banging above from either corridor door or room above. water pipes above ceiling were noisy throughout the night which was a nuisance and resulted in a poor nights sleep. The Room was tired and smelled musty and damp. The Sauna, steam room and salt spa room where all out of order and unable to use. Travelled with kids who didn’t get the chance to use the pool as it was lane swimming only. The staff in the hotel were great, very friendly and the breakfast was great with plenty of choice and all fresh. I was disappointed with the room and the facilities but the staff and breakfast saved the hotel stay from being really poor.

Nice overall stay, rooms a comfortable and the leisure facilities were really good, the pool area is excellent for children.

Gym was closed for renovation unfortunately but pool and spa were open along with the boxing area. Nice meal in the restaurant and good breakfast

Staff were really helpful and friendly. Room was clean but showing some signs of wear and tear. Breakfast was really great quality, though the coffee machine was a bit weak (coffee bar on site, not included, was very good and excellent value) Gym and pool facilities were really good, but a bit of a maze to navigate. Overall excellent, will definitely come back.

Excellent gym and swim facilities included. A real bonus to our trip. We travelled into Manchester and Liverpool using the train - short walk (about 10 mins). Metro also nearby. Room and bathroom clean. Food available at bar/cafe area, we didn't use this but looked comfortable area. Breakfast buffet has good selection, definitely recommend when booking, lovely staff in morning and set us up for our busy days out.

The "pool" facilities here are excellent. There\'s a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi in the main pool area. Downstairs are two more steam rooms (One wasn\'t working), another sauna and a hydro pool with two overhead jets that chuck out very strong jets of water. A very good experience here. Rooms are a little small with minimal storage space for clothes, coats etc. Room was also a bit noisy with the heating, however very warm. Close by to a weatherspoons and a great curry house. Would recommend staying here.

Unfortunately both the steam room, the salt room and one of the water features in the relaxing pool were broken and closed. Most of the lockers were not working and inconvenient. We had gone to celebrate my birthday and definitely spoilt the experience for me and my loved ones.

I stayed here for a night whilst dropping my daughter back to Uni. The hotel felt a bit like a leisure centre with rooms but I cannot fault the cleanliness of my room, the service provided or the facilities. I liked the women’s only gym. My double room was small but had everything I needed, was spotless and also very well priced. I don’t have breakfast at the hotel as I went to meet my daughter. However I thought the on site cafe looked really good. Free parking was also a welcome bonus. I would definitely stay here again.

Selected this hotel because of pool and told not available about 7 days before arrival. The rooms are small with no wardrobe and the bath was too slippery for one of us. Although conveniently place our room faced the entrance which meant we were in full view of the continual stream of members using the leisure complex. Made our think this is more a fitness centre than a hotel. Hardly any other guests visible. Room was dark which presented problems using dressing table as your back was towards the windows. Needs a blind or net curtain to give more privacy otherwise very clean and comfortable bed.

The room was spotless. Well done Mohammed. Swimming pool and facilities were great. Food was delicious both in the evening and for breakfast. Great range of products for breakfast. All in all, this overnight visit was tremendous value for money and I highly recommend it.

The hotel itself was nice and clean, the scenery was lovely! Staff were also nice, but just a few things with my room. I booked a standard room but I didn’t realise it would be so loud. I could hear the next room’s conversations loud and clear, as well as hearing each and every movement of the room upstairs. There was also was a strange noise coming from the ceiling. Every few minutes the same noise would occur - not sure if it was pipework, the upstairs resident, or anything else. Finally, the bathroom was lovely but the shower situation was not ideal. The water pressure was crazy high to the point where even the slightest turn would send the moveable shower head flying, and there was no happy medium with the water, between cold and burning hot I did burn myself a few times trying to figure this out. Amenities were nice though, gym is 24 hours and the swimming pool is nice and big.

Woke up in the night to see a mouse run out of the room 50% taken off the bill. Buffet breakfast mediocre at best

Just very average. Wi-Fi did not reach my room which was incredibly frustrating on a business trip. The ironing board was in pieces and there was a half eaten packet of biscuits on the tea tray! Breakfast was a bit sad. Not very hot On a positive note the spa was good and the gym wasn’t too bad for a hotel gym

Rooms very small but convenient location for airport

Room was clean, quiet and well equipped, staff were friendly. But the room was pretty small.

Small rooms, so no space for desk.

We stayed in a room that is more spacious than average ones. Clean and tidy. Staff are very polite and hospitable. Buffet style English breakfast is served, and quite tasty. The kitchen even takes simple orders to suit your needs. Guests can also use the pool and gym for free, which is rare for many hotels. Lots of parking spaces. The only concern is that the room has no air conditioning. During a summer day it could be rather hot and stuffy.

Good overall. room clean & tidy. 1) Had a bit of an issue with the (sprinkler) light flashing every 7 seconds all night. So getting off to sleep a bit of a problem. 2) No blinds or net curtains at window on ground floor. 3) No mini fridge.

Very average hotel for the money paid. The Wifi kept dropping out, despite the fact that I was in a room very near to the reception. The hotel didn't do much to rectify this issue. The rooms need a good refresh/upgrade. A fridge in the room would have been a nice touch. The room had no blinds, and the curtains wouldn't close all the way, which left a gap in the middle.

The staff at the hotel deserve all the credit they are friendly and welcoming and go above and beyond to make your stay better! Only downside to this hotel is the road in and out as it’s fairly awkward if cars are coming the other way, otherwise would 100% stay again facilities and rooms are great

Cleaner walked into

The staff here are unbelievable. They are a credit, not only to the hotel, but customer service and hospitality in general. Tyler, Josh, Mark and the entire team were friendly and personable throughout every moment of our stay. They met all our requests minimal fuss or issue and all went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at ease. The WiFi was not the strongest but with the facilities on offer, this was no problem to us and did not affect our stay. We would highly recommend and we look forward to returning in the future. Massive thank you to the whole Waterside team. Come on United!

Staff so helpful and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. Opened the door when they saw us arriving with luggage and made us really welcome. We ate in the restaurant and the service was the best we have experienced in a long time.

Staff came in my room while my wife and i were undecent and didnt want to be disturbed. Will not go back really unhappy

The family room had an awful musty smell and is down in the basement (without lift access) so not suitable for those with push chairs or additional cases. As advertised, reception told us we could access the pool: we got changed but were then turned away at the poolside due to a class - this caused great upset to my three year old. We tried raising the issues with manager James who was highly emotive, irrational and aggressive. As a result of his behaviour, we had to leave immediately (having incurred additional expense of booking swimming and shower facilities elsewhere). This is not a family-friendly hotel - avoid where possible.

Room was booked as being able to check in from 1500. We arrived at 1535 but the room was not ready. Finally got our room at 1635 ISH. We were offered a £20 discount.

I have never stayed anywhere and been treated as poorly as i was on friday I paid £100 for the stay, the staff were quite young watched me struggle around the hotel trying to do various tasks and no one helped me, some staff even walked straight pass me The quality of the room was appalling, mould, the furniture was very dated and didnt match, burnt iron marks on tge carpet, i paid for a king size reasonable size room, i was given a double box size room, tge breakfast was cold and very limited and at dinner time again i was ignored, left sitting down for over 20 minutes, no one came to offer any assistant or explain the process, so i went to bed hungry, each day i asked for milk for my baby to be warmed up it wasnt done, i had to drive out and find a costa. The venue isnt disabled friendly at all, the pool and the facilities are the best thing about this hotel They need to put a info pack.in the rooms, we nearly missed breakfast and also a blind or net curtain at the windows, we couldn't open the curtain because people from the restaurant could see us in the room The paint work was appalling, cracks in the ceiling, the tap was so loud, you thought it was going to burst i could have stayed in the travelodge and had a much better stay! I paid a much higher premium because i wanted to have a luxury stay and i recieved the worse stay ever I have never been treated so badly in my life They didnt even ask how my stay was as i checked out No care in the world!

Warm welcome from reception and we were given all the necessary information clearly and concisely. A courtesy call when we had settled in to check if everything was ok was a lovely touch. Use of the leisure facilities was included in our room rate which was excellent and we made full use of. Easy to get to the metro for transport into Manchester. Overall we have loved our stay, thank you.

Friendly staff. Excellent spa facility. Close to Manchester City centre

Although out from the centre of Manchester it was just a short walk to nearby East Didsbury Metro link station. Bedroom was smaller but clean and well equipped with a comfy bed

Loved the pool, spa, bar and breakfast. The location was perfect for a nearby concert at Wythenshawe Park. Would definitely book here again and will!

Great location and easy parking. All staff so helpful and friendly. Hotel overall is clean and service is excellent with great facilities . Only negative is the rooms are very small. Otherwise it would be 5 star rating for us.

Expensive room for what is a tiny space. Clean and good quality bedding but for the cost was disappointing in size. Hardly any room around the bed, no air con. The leisure facilities seem ok. It as it’s a full stream of members it’s just too busy for hotel guests. The restaurant is awful. Food was good but very limited menu and eating area is in a soulless bar, no ambiance. We really enjoyed our stay but the breakfast was awful, the meats were not cooked at all, we was really disappointed with this, everything else about our stay was really good, just please improve that breakfast as we had to pay £9 each for this, if i`d have known beforehand we would have had breakfast elsewhere.

We stayed here last year and had such a good stay we returned. This time it was completely different! Breakfast food had sat under lights for hours so most of it was congealed and the bacon was so dried up it was inedible as were the eggs. The barman who served us wine was really cocky and unpleasant. The Pinot Grigio was really cheap and nasty. We heard other guests complaining about the rose as well. The room was really tiny so there was a small hanging space but nowhere to put any other clothes. Spent the weekend having to leave everything in the suitcase and hide that under the desk so you didn’t trip over it walking to the bathroom. However, the overnight cleaning was very well done, the staff at reception were pleasant and the views of the pool from the bar area are very nice, as are the views of the river from the dining area.

Great hotel however the room was really cramped. We had a double room. Swimming pool and spa amazing experience. Breakfast excellent and chef will cook anything for you. Really courteous staff. On the whole a nice experience.

I was shocked to learn there is no lift at this hotel - presumably there are disabled access areas but for people who are mobile but with heavy luggage, or with small children, we should be made aware when booking. The rooms were very hot - there was some sort of control by the room door but no instructions. Leaving a window open meant noises from other rooms could be heard; there was a fan provided but this too was noisy. The breakfast was disappointing for the price. I arrived half an hour before the service ended and asked if more fruit would be brought to the buffet but was told that the two pieces of pineapple and some dried up orange wedges were all that there was. Similarly one of our group who was there much earlier was told more croissants would be brought but they never appeared. The staff are very personable is one positive, and the leisure facilities were very welcome .
