Mattress was uncomfortable and pillows flat and lumpy. Room was warm - there was a fan in the room but not very powerful. Lift was broken too. Staff were really nice and helpful though.

Hotel is nice, boutique feel. Both lifts were out of order. We returned from dinner in the city for a. Cocktail in the bar but it was closed at 11.15pm on a Saturday. Reception staff efficient but robotic

Very pleasant stay with early check in. Hotel with a bit of character and clean .Only downside was the lift was not operating but this was OK for us but may be a problematic for those with mobility issues .

Location is great, but on our visit the Lift was out of order, when you’re staying on the 4th floor it’s a killer walk especially with baggage. The heating/aircon unit wasn’t working on the first night and the room was cold. The reception staff were helpful, and Holly in the bar looked after us with some nice cocktails.

Beautiful building and the best sleep I’ve had in ages! The lift wasn’t working which wasn’t an issue for us and we were offered help with our bags. Great location near Piccadilly and in easy walking distance of the city centre.

Parking is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Discounted rate of £13 per 24 hours. Reception staff, particularly Omar, were extremely helpful with advice, directions etc.

The hotel is very central. The room was simple, a decent size, spotless and very light. The bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. All of the staff were pleasant and helpful. Discounted parking 100 yards away. Will definitely stay here next time in Manchester.

It was clean and is a nice building with a comfy bed. Unfortunately the experience lacked a little as when i arrived to check in at around 4:30/5pm (check in is from 3) my room wasnt ready as apparently housekeeping hadnt done a good enough job. Luckily i was only wanting to drop my bags off om my room at this point, as had i wanted to actually go and stay in my room i wasnt allowed to at that point. I had to leave my bags behind the desk to be taken up to my room later by staff which i wasnt entirely comfortable with but had no choice. For the price i paid for the room i am not particularly happy about what happened. Also the lift was broken when i arrived and i believe was broken through to the next morning at least. It wasnt such a problem for me but if i was someone who couldnt use the stairs i wouldnt have been able to get to my room as there are a lot of stairs.

Twin room was generously sized, very clean and comfortable. Loved our stay, our only issue was the child running around from 5am in the room above us. Nothing the hotel could do to prevent this.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Why is this rated a 4 star hotel? There's a certain standard I expect from a 4 star hotel and this hotel is not it. It doesn't feel clean or safe at all. The building is lacking major security/cameras The room booked was a basic, standard room - wasn't expecting it to be big, but at least clean and good working order. Instead we got: a sweltering, stuffy room with no a/c and a small, unsatisfactory fan unit strands of hair in bathroom floor and sink a smell which was so unpleasant: almost a mix of dampness and smoke poor water pressure from the shower I was so close to moving hotels but I didn't want to make a fuss and maybe thought it was just a room-issue so I asked if there were any better/bigger rooms available. The gent was kind and attentive. Showed me the suite which he offered at a discount which I was so happy with as it was spacious and sheltered from direct sun! So I decided to stay as an act of good faith but then he explained that A/C doesn't work anywhere in the building, but they have a fan and he'll open the window (using a drill) as they have screwed them shut? The suite looked nice but looking closely, there was still so many issues such as wallpaper peeling, so many cracks on the wall, no smart tv capabilities, shower was rusty, hair in the sinks (again), and still HOT! I wish I trusted my gut and just moved hotels, I was so uncomfortable and on edge staying there that I only managed to sleep for 2 hours.

I had high hopes for this hotel given the 4 star rating, I will not return. On check in I was not informed of breakfast or how to enter property after 11 even though I overheard the receptionist explain to the couple in front. I was placed in a corner room which resembled a cluttered junk room, the duvet was ripped, hairs in the shower and dirty bathroom floor. I complained the next morning and was given an email address to contact, the lady on section was disinterested in providing correct customer service and handling my complaint. but I returned a few mins later and asked to speak to the manager, she apologised and I got a partial refund, it seems staff are lying to the manager, I returned from a show at around 11:30pm and was told the lift was broke, the manager was informed this happened at 1pm, Security cameras can be checked. If you are unhappy with a hotel room, don't accept an email address to contact for your complaint, ask to speak to manger immediately.

Getting to the hotel from Manchester Picadilly train station is super easy and straightforward. When we came in the, the reception were able to sort us in a timely annd polite manner. The rooms are equipped with all your basic amenities, however hours did not have a mini fridge nor a hairdryer. I was expecting a bit more from the tidiness rooms, I could see some of the paintwork cracking off the walls and stains on the curtains and some dust and litter underneath the beds. Additionally, there were cobwebs in the ceiling. Overall, my experience is good but the cleanliness could’ve been improved. Also I wish I took photos of my room as the room wasn’t as modern as I expected from the listing.

At first I had to request to be given a new room because an entire wall next to the window was covered in mould. The new room had wall paper peeling off the walls and random marks on the wall. The aircon did not work. Room was very hot and uncomfortable. Bottles water in the room tasted salty and cost £2.50. The only nice thing about the room was the bathroom was nice and clean. The building feels very old and outdated. I wouldn’t stay here again. Photo is of mould in first room.

Nice staff but toilet had not been cleaned properly and on one of hottest days of the year there was no air con and we couldn't even open a winow! Nice breakfast.

We stayed here for two nights. I was very disappointed that the air conditioning wasn't working. I wouldn't have booked if I was informed about this beforehand. The staff were polite the place was decent however the room was far too hot. I didn't get a decent night's sleep on either night. I called the front desk on the first day asking if they could give me the remote for the air conditioning system and I was informed that they had a problem and the air conditioning wasn't working, this was a shock to me as I only booked mainly for this reason. I realised that the air conditioning in the main lobby looked like it was working fine? I was then told that they stopped advertising the air conditioning on the system and I told them that wasn't the case when we booked the hotel. I payed roughly £270 for 2 nights which is reasonable considering the AC is working. Not once was I called or informed about this prior to arriving at the hotel. There was a fan in the room but despite this the room was too hot. I would be grateful if the hotel management contact me via email or phone call and offer me a proper explanation as to why this was. I am not a difficult person however I don't like to be misold services. Warm regards Yusuf Naroot

In no particular order. Bed was massive, not exaggerating when I say we could’ve got 4 adults in it. Me and the missus both like to sleep on the edge of the bed and I was surprised there wasn’t an echo when we were chatting. Loved the bed and it was very comfortable. The ceiling in the room was high and the room spacious. We were on the 3rd floor and the lifts were broken but stuff happens and I needed the exercise so I’m not marking the hotel down for that. We’re from the area and just fancied a night out so no strangers to the city centre and while that particular corner isn't exactly easy on the eye, it’s just a few minutes walk to very good shopping, drinking and eating so the location can’t be faulted. We’d happily stay there again.

Spacious room with excellent shower. Super comfy bed and even for the city centre quiet room without any street noise.

I had a good stay, the room was quite good and had everything I could need. However, I stayed during the weekend, and the noise from the street and other rooms was kind of bothersome.

The room was spacious but the room was really hot and apparently all the Air conditioning in the building wasn't working. This wasn't even disclosed at reception being an important aspect of customer satisfaction. Very poor night's sleep

Oh my gosh, this hotel was stunning! Fabulous check in, choice of floor to stay on, room was beautiful! Three massive mirrors in the room, amazing lighting, fab clean bright shower. Bed was soooo comfy! Will definitely be booking again!

It’s priced at a premium yet the windows don’t open, the AC controller had been removed. Also 3 of the 5 blinds were broken and wouldn't raise as the strings inside them were snapped/cut. The bed was decent, food was too. But why hotels think it’s ok to not have some sort of ventilation I’ll never understand.

Great location, interesting old building, big room, big and comfortable bed. Air con and bathroom extractor fan not working, window wouldn't stay open without propping either. Wouldn't be good in summer. Stayed here 6 years ago and liked it, feels like no maintenance since then. Shower head loose, general wear and tear taking its toll, looking a bit shabby in places. Plants growing from the outside of the building isn't a great look!

Omar is an absolute credit to himself. You’re very lucky to have him as a member of staff. Kind, considerate and extremely helpful.

A very smooth check in and excellent customer service from Omar. Really appreciated the room upgrade and complimentary drinks for our wedding anniversary. Great staff, great location and a great stay. We will return.

Best bed in Manchester. We love this hotel. The staff are excellent, especially Omar. He is friendly, welcoming and never forgets a face. The hotel rooms are comfy, smart and excellent value. Will definitely keep coming here.

The hotel looks much nicer online. Only really seen one person at reception our whole stay.

The room was satisfactory. The gentleman on reception told me I had missed check in as I’d arrived after 10pm. I’d been travelling for 6 hours after a busy day. I was travelling as a lone woman and didn’t appreciate the joke. He did apologise but it sounds as if it’s a joke he regularly plays. I doubt he would have done it to a lone man.

Kept the original concept yet has modern amenities. Omar at the front desk was very hospitable and accommodatiing.

Clean room no aircon so was hot. Very old furnishings Blonde lady on the desk was lovely when checking in the only good thing about this stay was her. Security at night was awful be aware of this man. very short man syndrome. His name was Ben very very aggressive and completely unprofessional considering the price of the rooms would never go back and the hotel would do well to look into him.

Great property close to the station and city centre

Good sized rooms, comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful, and changed my room when I asked for a more quiet room. Very central location. 5 min walk to the train station. The area is great for shopping and with many good restaurants and cafes.

Good sized rooms, very clean, excellent position close to train station and walkable to all areas of Manchester city centre.

We stayed here for 2 nights while in Manchester for a gig in Depot Mayfield, as it was one of the closest hotels to the venue and the train station. Location was perfect, 5/10 min walk to the Northern Quarter, mins from Piccadilly, loads of shops, bars & restaurants nearby. Bed was super comfortable, we booked a room with a king size bed but it was much bigger! Some noise from the traffic outside but that is to be expected given the location. Staff who checked us in/out were friendly enough! Room was very clean & nicely designed. TV was small and difficult to use at times but not really a bother as it was just background noise. Speaker in the room you can connect to via Bluetooth was a really nice touch especially while we were getting ready for the gig! Would definitely stay again next time we’re around that part of Manchester!

Great place to stay if you’re going to coop live! The hotel is a very short walk from Piccadilly station, where you can catch a 6 minute tram to the coop live venue.

Travelled by train and the station was nearby. Hotel was in a central location.

Didn’t use any services. Booked room only. Staff at reception during check in / out pleasant & helpful enough. Area around hotel quite scruffy & noisy but it was on a main thorough fare so I guess you should expect it to be noisy especially on a Saturday night.

Generally a nice hotel, room great and bed very comfortable. Was disappointed to find no dinner or room service available that I was not notified of in advance or on check in - only found out when looking for dinner at 8pm. Really didn’t want to have to go out after a long day

Car park is not on site but very convenient. Property has nice original features. Went to a concert at coop live and it was about a 30min walk back. Bar closed at 11. Others open nearby but it was a Saturday night, it felt a bit early to shut.

Great menu options. You’re given menu & items made to order- limitless, I believe - great value & quality. However, service was major let down. Food took 20-35min to come. Part of my order was not as I requested but was sent back to fix. One of my orders (a selection of crossaints) never came. I asked about this, assuming it was forgotten but happy to take it in a napkin. But was told the kitchen was closed, as if I had forgotten to mention this in my original order. I politely explained I had originally ordered this & no resolution/accommodation was offered. Given, I was already late for check out bcus of how surprisingly long food had taken - I left it. I’d factor 1hr+ for breakfast & overcommunicate your desires :/

The hotel is in conveniently area for exploring the city. The hotel itself is a beautiful building which has retained a lot of original features. Our room was a good size and had a nice bathroom. The beds were also very comfortable . There was a good choice for made to order Breakfast which was included in our room rate and was delicious. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again if I visit Manchester in the future.

Really great value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and just what we needed for our night in Manchester. Bed was soo comfy and room had a fan which was great cause it was hot!!! Only criticism is the restaurant weren’t sure about gluten free options and were able to offer my friend a breakfast whilst being 100% on the allergens so we had to find somewhere else to eat as it was too risky.
