Adelphi Hotel

They have a bar with no one there offering any service. The one and only person at reception had to walk down to serve you. Zero atmosphere. It was a cold day on arriving their air con/ heating boiler was down the room was 17C. Not acceptable should have let me know so alternative arrangements could be made. It all seemed basic I will not return. I don’t know how they get a good rating?????

Good sized room and bathroom. Complimentary prosecco and beer. Continental breakfast included. Snacks and non alcoholic drinks in the room included. Staff were excellent, even loaning us an umbrella as Melbourne weather is unpredictable. Great location in CBD. Excellent value for money

Great art hotel. The pool bar was closed for renovations which was a bit disappointing and not enough deck chairs, once the temps are finished I’m sure it will be great. We will be back.

Great little hotel, perfect for your business stays. Staff are great and friendly, and very informative if you have any questions for the surrounding area (cafes, restaurants etc). Only thing to be mindful of is that the entrance is up a flight of stairs. Not sure if there is another way in, but if you have a lot of luggage, or need accessible access, this might not be the hotel for you.

Frequent guest, checking in this time to find the lobby bar closed; no grand piano playing, no guests chatting, no atmosphere at all. No television or WIFI; tried to get it fixed and was told by staff “No, it doesn’t work on this floor “. Very disappointed

Excellent location if you want to walk to an event at Rod Laver and have tea done one of the local laneways. Easy to access parking next door.

Pool needs work. Otherwise great

Wonderful location in the heart of the CBD. Tough access up steep flight of steps ( no one offered to help with our 2 large bags, they just watched, and not sure how you get on if you have mobility issues.) Our first room had no WiFi connection ( they said they had problems on this floor) and the AC didn’t seem to be cooling properly. So we insisted on moving. The person helping us was very sympathetic. Next room was fine, but looked directly in to an office floor opposite (and more importantly they look directly in to us!). And this was top floor. Pool was fine. Have to access up the fire stair that is all peeling and has buckets on the floor to catch leaks ( probably not fire compliant but also pretty nasty access to a pool). They provide very limited breakfast and coffee. Although coffee machine broke down on second day!! All in all wouldn’t return. But useful central location.

Most disappointing thing was not giving you any information on parking. Upon arrival we could see a parking facility and went in there to see you have to pay $85 for 4 hours or more. Which wasn’t ideal. I asked at the desk about the parking and they were very helpful and give you a validation ticket. To put in with your parking ticket to only pay $16 which is a better saving. But misleading when they don’t have anything stating you still have to pay for your parking each day while using the parking lot. The finished on the room weee a bit rough and black mould was in all the silicone in the shower. I’m not usually overly picky but was let down with this one. Staff are amazing thought and still a very beautiful hotel on the reception level.

While the daily clean is fine, it could do with a deep clean of the bathroom. Grout and scale removal.

Service was excellent, reception staff were great and very helpful. My only complaint was that the room smelt very damp and musty. There were no windows in the room that could be opened. As a result there was some mould in the showers which had a strong smell. The beds were incredibly comfortable.

Could have been cleaner, some parts were dusty and dirty, but not the worst I’ve seen seen, appeared short staffed but did what they could. Never saw bar open. If price was 30% lower then it would probably meet expectations, and another 0.5 to 1 star more, but depends what you value more.

A lovely hotel, great location and the staff was super helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was delicious with a good variety to choose from. My room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities one would expect, with bonus free mini bar for the first night and a welcome drink. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location, expected rooms to be better quality and disapointent with the cleanliness. Had heard good things about the hotel and was prepared to pay the premium but overall it wasnt good value.

The Adelphi is a lovely little boutique hotel. The reception staff were so friendly. The room was super clean, and the entire place was decorated in an eclectic style. The location was so convenient. Shops, takeaways, restaurants, trams...all on the doorstep.

Location was great for a nearby conference. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and due to its size it never seemed too busy or noisy. The bathroom counters industrial nature didn’t suit me, neither did the mood lighting and the lack of ability to make it brighter. Overall though, a positive experience and good value for money

Convenient location, rooms are spacious but dated. A renovation is needed, particularly in the bathrooms.

Bed was amazing and slept vwry well. Room could you a bit more lighting, but certainly a nice stay.

Negative: Wi-Fi didn’t work the whole time. Room decor, while still good, was lower quality than expected. Positive: Great staff and service.

Location was great and the staff is really friendly. The only downside was that it was very noisy until about 10:30 pm and Tuesday at 4 am they collect the garbage bins which is very loud! Other than that it was a wonderful stay 🙂

Although Rooms were big, they still felt claustrophobic due to minimal fresh airflow and slightly unpleasant scent through the rooms. Air conditioning was nearly ineffective. Did not feel pleasant to return too during my visit.

Reception staff were outstanding

Absolutely horrendous experience at the Adelphi. No concierge, had to drag three suitcases and bags up stairs myself. Room was disgusting—coffee stains on walls, strong smoking stench, bathroom old and rotten. Totally nothing like the Expedia photos. Staff were unhelpful and rude. Sarah, who had only worked there two weeks, offered another room but refused to let us move there, then later stormed into our original room shouting, “You need to leave right now!” My niece was crying, we had to pack in a rush, and leave in the pouring rain. Paid $30 for a car park we couldn’t even use properly. Misleading photos, filthy rooms, and aggressive staff. Avoid this place. Sarah was a nightmare.

Excellent service. Check-in was smooth. Would be 5 stars across the board but deducting 1 star because the coffee machine stopped working after only 1 cup. Overall though, fantastic. Will stay again.

Great Staff & Service

The staff at the hotel were extremely engaged and welcoming. Loved the location and the access to public transportation. Great restaurants were within easy walking distance. Although the hotel could use a bit of freshening up…we would highly recommend staying at the Adelphi on your next visit to Melbourne.

Very conveniently located. Easy access to public transport for concert venues, even walkable. The cafes and restaurants are a 5 min walk to Swanston and DeGraves streets. Very stress free.

Location is brilliant, so convenient for everything in the Melbourne CBD, like wow, some wonderful restaurants nearby. The check in was by far the most friendly ever, the room perfect and the soft drink minibar such a nice touch. We were here for a short stay and really enjoyed it and highly recommend this hotel

Great hotel in the centre of Melbourne CBD. Close to all restaurants and cafes and a short walk to all transport options and shopping. Nice and quiet and very spacious room. Reception staff were very friendly and check in and check out was very quick and easy

Great location - easy to get to entertainment and dining options. Breakfast could be improved with fresher provisions. We had a very hard croissant before staff brought some more out. Bed comfortable. Room nice and spacious. Would have liked larger bath towels.

Staff were lovely. Room was great, comfortable and spacious. Free mini bar of excellent snacks and soft drinks. Free pastries and delicious coffee in the morning. Only minutes walk to theatres, and the great dining options of Flinders lane. Cheap validated parking next door. A very happy customer!!

A little disappointed compared to past stays. The internet wasn’t working which was a problem on a business trip. The complementary coffee and pastries advertised in the elevator look excellent. The reality was the cheap freezer croissants were inedible and flowery. Usually it’s a lot better. Will go back but hope this feedbacks helps them sharpen up.

The pictures advertised Dont reflect the actual waning condition of theHotel. It’s actually getting quite rundown. You are looking at the walls of other buildings. The windows aren’t double glazed and it is very noisy in the area particularly if the Regent theatre is packing up or setting up Outside your front door. On several occasions I wandered in and just waited around for quite some time for staff to show their head of which they’re only ever seem to be one. The pictures show that there is a possibility of being a bar upstairs with the pool but this is not the case. In fact on your way up the stairs to the pool you have to squeeze around three buckets collecting water dripping from the ceiling. The pool is getting quite rusty And it is now hard to see through the bottom also due to lack of cleaning. Initially the furniture in the photos look interesting however in reality they are quite dinky and small and quite useless to be honest. Unfortunately why we were there? The Internet wasn’t working and cell phone reception/data was a bit hit and miss. I assume everyone in the hotel was trying to use it which is why it was barely there. The bar/restaurant downstairs was closed while we were there and there wasn’t much explanation for that. The complementary drinks are pretty entry-level beer and champagne. Which have to be taken on one of you breakfast tables. Beds no great. Location great! But paying too much for this room. Not a self rated 5 star.
